As someone with the benefit of hindsight and someone originally coming from Grian (or, technically, originally from Mumbo, then to Grian), I can say with confidence: It's both. But the dedication is stronger
From my expert observational skills, Grian definitely has a goal to fish in the background of every hermits videos at least once

I'm really liking this relaxing, slow-paced type of hermitcraft videos. They are really focusing on hermit interactions that is putting emphasis on their friendship within the server. It is really refreshing in contrast to endless grind to building mega bases, well for the first few episodes at least.

yeah ive noticed quite a few hermits mentioning an intentionally slower pace this season its nice :D
i like that the vibe of season 10 is indirectly caused by grian and scar. they blew up doc's tunnel bore, leading to the buttercups vs goat war. impulse talked about it in his podcast with skizz that when the hermits gathered to cover up the perimeter, they just talked for hours and rekindled their joy of collaboration and just having a chill time together. doc mentioned it in his video that even iskall joined in a proud dad voice lol. at this time iskall was taking a break but the project of covering up the perimeter & hanging out with other hermits made him come back briefly LMAO. so S10 is just a very nice culmination of hermits having fun together which is a win honestly, the vibe is immaculate

Gem and Grian's dynamic is one of my favorite things in hermitcraft. Shenanigans and giggles all around
The fish add the perfect touch of color and whimsy to the build, and the interactions with Grian and Etho sent this episode over the top for entertainment value.
Honestly loving the Gem/Etho dynamic so far this season.

Gem and Grian had the most "couples shopping trip" style friend outing. This after giving everyone uppies with the fishing rods yesterday has just been an incredibly wholesome week of hermitcraft.

I've been following a lot more hermits this season and I am really enjoying watching as they slowly transform the world and build up a culture

Same! As I watched s9, bit by bit, I started expending my pool of hermits, and this season I thought I'd only be watching them. But then I watched everybody's first episodes and I know for a fact I'm going to be watching 10 hermits, 3 more than my usual (albeit two of them are Skizz and Joel) but I've also got 3 more hermits in my peripheral that I'm gonna watch a few more eps of and then decide. Maybe a fourth one there too. So at most, I'll follow along the pov of 14 members out of the 27.

Aparently not all that many people know, but buried treasure chests have a 100% chance of having a heart of the sea. Also, its the funniest thing to see Gem and G constantly get distracted.

That was definitely the prize from their expedition-meanwhile I'm squirming while Gem talks for minutes about how much she wants a regular guardian head without knowing that they just make _the stupid flopping sound..._

Gem and grian are like those 2 friends who go into a shop for a ‘quick look around’ and then get distracted by everything and just keep telling themselves that this will be ‘the last thing’ they look at but just keep getting more and more distracted anyway 😭 (i really like the dynamic that they have they are gonna be very entertaining as neighbours this season)

There's quite a lot of aquatic themed adventures between gem and grian this season.
And it's amazing.
Dredge has become one of my favorite games ever. So seeing your builds inspired by it is absolutly awesome. I especially love the flying fishies.
Have you thought about a draw bridge between the two landmasses? Something that'll allow A] boaters to go under it, B] the illusion of your main ship to go under it, C] something that looks fancy.
If you really want to replicate dredge, you could put the elder guardian head next to a sunlight detector, so when it turns night it plays the more ominous sound.

The floating fish remind me of that beautiful picturebook: "The mermaid moon"
A child and a mermaid become friends and on a very special day, she and all the fish in the ocean, can swim through the air as if it were water and go visit the child and the villiage.

I am absolutely loving these adventures with other hermits every episode, I've never really watched much Gem before now but my gosh Gem has an amazing dynamic with every single hermits it's so heckin' fun every time
Fun Facts about light houses: Did you know that in the year 2000 is when they the government pass the slip to sell lighthouses to people from Realtors who want to buy a “home” (because no one was buying then or living there, then sold 70 lighthouses upon that same year) upon signing you are obligated to now call for or to do maintenance on the lighthouse (as your responsibility)

I think the Soup Group really inspired a lot of Hermits
I love the pallet you picked for the rocks! Does a pretty good job of showing the natural weathering of a tidal point and the salt marks. I also love the use of mangrove leaves they look so much more like the algal mats and seaweed that washes ashore and ends up in the wrack. The lighthouse is super awesome too. BUT THE FLYING FISH OH MY GOD THEYRE ADORABLE AND I LOVE THEM.
The elder guardian head on the jukebox really sounds good for maybe creaking of a big ship or something like a really deep cavern lake/river? I really love this mod!!!!
The one thing I think would improve the lighthouse would be to put the top railing one or two blocks further down - then one could see the lights better from the ground :D
Agree. I was going to suggest she just move the two light rows up a few rows so you could see them from the ground. Either way, it seems a simple fix of their position would improve visibility! Otherwise, it is spectacular!
As someone who decorates moon lamps with betta fish sculptures, full approval! There's just something majestic about the imagery of fish orbiting lights. ✨

I’m loving the darker spookier vibes of the build style this season, it’s a fun switch up
It’s really cool to see how you build up a theme/aesthetic! The armor pairing with the skin, the terraforming with little item frame details, the different buildings, are all really cool!! I’ve never seen someone try to create ambient audio for a base before!
I like the relationship dynamic for Gem and Etho. Gem is the little sister who hits her big brother and Etho just accepts it and would protect Gem.
This is going to be an amazing and fun season! Think of how close everyone is! You have cyberpunk next to steampunk, coastal cozy with archaeological train cars, medieval, Japanese modern, and everything else all around, all so close together that you KNOW it'll look like one massive creation!
If you are tired from crack jokes, you can always go to doc's swamp and crack on with him, Gem.
Since it's next to Magic Mountain, I see no reason why there couldn't be giant, flying fish around your lighthouse. Which, looks really great!

Watching the cherry mountain group, specifically gem and grain, has inspired me to build a rustic village on my own world

To minimize lag for the lights in the light house- you could add glow lichen or sculk vein.
You can put them on shroom lights or frog lights to straighten their glow. 💡
asking imp to do you bidding to help impress etho is hilarious and i can see a wholesome fanfic coming from it, very sweet and funny, bonus points because Etho loved it
I love the idea of bringing the river and sea out of the water and into the air like it’s a region filled with mystery and wonder! This reminded me of a video I’ve seen of an area that frequently floods and so there’s certain times when there will be full grassy field and even bridges underwater. That feels like it would be right at home in this beautiful and bizarre seaside base you’re building.
Oh! I love this concept, wait, what if you blurred the landscapes together so when you’re under water you still feel like you could be on land and when on the shore, still under the water!
Absolutely love the random adventures with other hermits ! Really feels like y'all are just friends on the server instead of a job situation with co-workers. Very refreshing to watch this season !
That final addition on that lighthouse is unexpected, and I love it. I thought it's already good , but you made it even better.
As soon as I saw the flying fish, it immediately reminded me of the D&D setting called Spelljammer. It has "Space Guppies" that look just like it!

I love the flying fish! Reminds me of an anime I once saw. What a fun adventure you and Grian had. Cool lighthouse. I love the rocky terrain around it.
At night, boats are warned by the light, but during the day, lighthouses are red and white stripes because they attract the eye.
Also in Canada, for historical reasons, all lighthouses are maintained, funded, and regulated at the federal level - even though most of the country is landlocked (although we do have a dozen sea-sized lakes).
