@@MintBlitz Well UA-cam compression makes that hard to tell honestly. I will say that I had that enabled for the longest time without knowing why my game looked grainy and blurry, but once I turned it off it had a LOT more clarity. It also might depend on your resolution, you’re using 1080p whereas I run 1440p, the changes in resolution might be harder to distinguish there. Of course you’re covering performance here not visuals, but I just wanted to clarify in case you didn’t know why you got the FPS boost. I just wish for a DLSS option down the road.
@@MintBlitz I suppose it also depends on your PC specs. My old 6600k and 1070 would have to lower the resolution more drastically than a new Ryzen CPU with a RTX3080

*Axial Deadzones:* turning this on turns your analog stick basically into one with a cross (horizontal and vertical). The higher this number, the more you'll need to deviate from either horizontal or vertical to get diagonal motions. If you're having difficulty ''breaking free'' from horizontal aim for instance: *TURN IT DOWN* . Set the axial deadzone to max on your look stick for fun... you'll have a hard time doing anything other than ''straight'' aiming left-right, up-down, or straight diagonal. *Max input threshold:* the higher this number is, the less movement you need to make with your stick to register max input. If you have this at 15, you'll only need to move your stick halfway to reach your maximum input. Using this on your movement stick for instance makes fast-strafing easy. Try it for yourself. Lowering this to 0-5 range will mean you'll actually need to be near the edge of your stick before your ''quick turn'' acceleration kicks in on your aiming stick. Again, try it out yourself guys. Most people, even the pros, have no idea what these settings do and they're just so damn good that they can slay even with crappy settings.
Thank you for this explanation on max input. I definitely plan to experiment myself, but what do you suggest putting it at for the right stick? I've seen many say put left stick at 15 but right stick at 0 and I dont see why you wouldn't want both maxed out at 15
@@Mr.BonusHole Mostly because Halo Infinite already has ''uneven'' X-Y sensitivity for look-stick (horizontal is faster than vertical) and this becomes more obvious when your max input threshold is at like 15. Why? Because there's 2 ''modes'' to your look stick. Regular acceleration (you can set this yourself in the options) and sensitivity and what I call 'quick turn' acceleration. This last part is when you reach the end of your stick; it only work on horizontal. Try this: Stand stil, now very slowly move your look stick to the right. Notice how fast you're moving. Keep sloooowly moving towards the edge. You'll find a spot where it suddenly ''jumps'' in sensitivity/acceleration. If you set max input threshold to 15, you'll reach that spot quickly. It'll feel snappy to aim left/right or turn around, sure, but now imagine tracking a strafing enemy. You might accidentally hit the max input, causing you to over-aim and tear free of the aim assist and miss shots. Having the max input threshold on your aim stick low makes sure that you can more gradually control your aim, but will require you to move the stick further to enter that accelerated turn speed. I hope this makes sense. TL;DR: High max input threshold on look stick = quick corner checks, but less control in firefights. Low mx input threshold on look stick = maximum control.
2:11 just reposting this from UberNick's settings video. I definitely recommend turning max input threshold down all the way to zero if you want your aim to stay consistent. All past halo titles have had very small outer deadzones, but the default 10 in infinite is very high and will mess with your aiming at times because it will activate acceleration whenever you are in the acceleration zone when you don't intend to.
@@jb1u23 The value for max input don't actually reflect what they are in the code. All past halo titles have had a 3-5% outer deadzone, but even 0 on infinite is still about 10% in reality. And no you don't want to get to the acceleration zone quickly because (as I have already stated) it will mess with your flicking and aiming in general because acceleration will start too soon. Acceleration in halo isn't the stick's response curve, it's how fast the _extra turning_ speed (when the stick is pegged) ramps up to top speed. Also, max input does not affect turning speed at all, sensitivity does. As I've already mentioned, 0 on infinite is not actually 0, it's still large enough that most controllers still won't get any slow turn with a lot of breathing room.
@@mason2307 Older controllers that have been used a lot already are more prone to having stick drift and slow turn, so I'd experiment with it. You can test this by doing these steps in this order. Start your center value at 0.5. Keep bumping it up one notch until your aim stops drifting when you aren't touching the right stick. Start max input threshold at 0 and bump it up until acceleration kicks in when pegging both left and right. If acceleration still kicks in at a value of 0 then leave it there. Hope this helps.

I get that people like to shit on console, but there’s literally no reason not to- if you’re already more comfortable using a controller. I was playing Infinite on M&K for like, the first week. as soon as I connected my controller, I felt the nostalgia surge through me and it made me feel like I knew this game like the back of my hand.
One change gave me a ridiculous performance boost and stopped me from basically building a new PC. In Steam Library>Halo Infinite>Right Click>Properties>DLC, uncheck the "Multiplayer HD Texture Pack". It brought my game load speed from 2 minutes to 10 SECONDS, ramped my fps from 70 to 120, and reduced my GPU and CPU consumption by 20%. I hope this info gets out to everyone who needs it. Also, addendum to your point, setting min and max fps to the same number, even if it is a lower number, helped my performance a lot. And FYI the game will offer you different sets of min/max values based on other monitors you have plugged in, for some reason.
Max Input threshold is not a dead zone setting. This setting controls when ur acceleration value kicks in.... at 0 the acceleration won't start until you "peg" the stick all the way to its outer limit, at 15 ur controls will start to accelerate as soon as you touch the stick. I personally play with mine at 0, I don't want the controls to suddenly start accelerating somewhere in my stick path when I'm trying to track a target. At 0 its consistent, and when I have to turn or make a 180, I peg my stick and the acceleration kicks in.
That is false it will not accelerate soon as you push the stick at 15. The default at 0 is 98%, at 15 its 83% that accel kicks in. You still have to go from center to outer that doesn't magically go to instant setting that to 15. You do whatever works for you but I know I am right cause I have seen the graphs.
Yeah. I brought a XR1000 router that was on special from Harvey Norman from a Christmas sale just so I can filter out West US servers on the Series X, it's ridculas, their are three server centres here in Australia, one in Dubbo, one in Melbourne & another somewhere in QLD from what my router is able to pull the information of their locations for Infintie, yet it prioritize me to be on West US servers, it's like they deliberately want me to be put into bad games. Then when I change the settings & put on geo-filter, it put me into very consistent games here at home. Whoever is programming the network is an idiot at Micosoft or 343i.
As long as I get 60fps I'm happy. Gotta have my 4k. Just don't understand why my GTX 1080 ti can't run ultra settings at 4k 60. Infinite isn't that graphically demanding compared to something like Warzone, or red dead redemption
I play on pc, I usually have all my settings on low but yesterday I noticed my game was in the 80s-100s, I turned everything back down to low or medium because for some reason my settings changed by themselves. When I changed them back I was getting around 130 again in big team battles.
It's a game changer I can assure you. The first time I saw it I was like "wtf?" But now I can't imagine taking my thumb from the aiming stick just to jump. Is so dumb when you think of it.
Trust me, it takes a lot of getting used to, but it's way worth it. I've been on in since Overwatch a few years ago and my aim and strafing and game in general has massively increased.
Lowering graphics isn't always the best option for a better experience. If you are CPU limited then it's the LAST thing you want to do because while it CAN improve framerate, your frameTIME is likely to be a stuttery mess. You want your GPU to be as close to 100% utilization as possible while your CPU as low percentage as possible. Just trusting overall CPU usage is also not enough as Halo Infinite uses multithreading so you could have one or two threads barely being utilized while the rest are at 100%, it will still report a low overall usage because of the 2 threads that aren't being used lowering the average. Also, for the love of the Oracle, TURN OFF that Chromatic Aberration for the HUD, it looks hideous and your eyes will thank you. (can be found in UI settings, IIRC)
Which is why capping fps is so important to reduce cpu overhead. People think big number = good. Smoother is better. If you can run uncapped and not stutter, thats that good shit.
if youre playing on pc (mainly steam) if you right click on properties go to dlc and untick hd texturepack, you'll get better frames and the quality still looks good, you can also go into the game files through properties go to disk_cache then gamecmcache, delete all them files for extra performance also running the game as admin helps too
Just adding a note here for everyone at 2:53 timestamp, I had to remove the contents previously added to the Hosts file. It was causing the 'No ping to our data centers detected' error not allowing me to join a game. Most likely due to an update that came out after the video.
Making the switch is definitely worth it. I used to play claw style with default controls, but even that doesn't compare to when you get Bumper Jumper ironed out. It takes about a week to get comfortable with it.
I would also make the suggestion that if you don't plan on having super high graphics and you play on steam, you can actually uninstall the preinstalled 4k texture pack in the addons section. Usually helps to reduce loading times while also giving a moderate performance boost even if your playing on low graphics settings.
So much work was put into this game, even the settings menu is pretty impressive. Shame the marketing team committed to this progression/unlock/shop system
Here is my controller mapping: Left Trigger: Aim Down Sights Left Bumper: Jump Right Trigger: Shoot Right Bumper: Equipment Left Stick: Sprint Right Stick: Grenade A: Slide (hold down for crouch) B: Melee X: Reload Y: Change Weapon
I've set up a FFA mode vs 7x Spartan level bots for a practice game mode before I jump into actual games each time. It's definitely helped improve my scores. Will try out some of these other tips too.
I currently have, LT for crouch slide, RB to sprint, LB for grenade, A to jump, right stick to zoom, B for equipment, X to reload. I wanted my right stick to zoom but also slide, jump shoot comfortable… and be sneaky.
If you have a PiHole running in your home network you can also block those servers in there - a little bit better way of doing the same thing in my opinion :)
I made a Pi-hole, sadly it does nothing against IOS yt adds. If you have a VPN, you can find some good deals for certain subscriptions though to get rid of them hehe. Never thought of using it for a per game server basis. Cool idea, thanks
@Mint Blitz any way you would be willing to do an update vid or comment with current look sens, thresholds and look accel & any other changes to video settings? Assuming you have changed anything? Great Video & congrats on the 100 FFA Win Streak!
Hey I wanna say that I've improved so much from your settings I feel like I had a really weird control set up as well as gimping myself by not playing on bumper jumper. I felt like shit after playing matches and getting mediocre/below average results I feel like I can hit sniper shots if I try.
I don't have any business making suggestions but for PC I came up with a weird key binding that's helped me a bit. I set F to grenade instead of melee, moved melee to one of the spare buttons M4/5 (navigation buttons in the browser context) and the other mouse button to switch weapons. What I like about it is the buttons I use the most take the least amount of effort to hit, plus hitting melee when you need a grenade or vice versa can be a death sentence and I seem to have very fat fingers so F/G for melee/grenade is not great.
Thank you, thank you. Off to practice. For something like this is why I love the training mode on Infinite. The bots on Odst or Spartan mode can be heartless killing machines. Lol.
It is too late for me to switch my controller settings already. My controller scheme is like a weird combination of Halo 5’s default scheme and Halo 3’s default scheme. I got B for melee, RB for interact/reload, X for equipment, A for jump, Y for weapon swap, RT to shoot, but I have clicking on the right thumbstick for crouching/sliding, clicking on the left for sprinting, LT for zoom, and LB for grenade. Thanks 343 for custom rebinds. tldr: Left half of the controller is H5 and Right half is H3.
I haven’t looked yet, I will later today, but thought I’d ask now anyway. Does this video only apply to PC or can I use these settings on Xbox One X? (Speaking specifically about the ping/server selection and video settings, obviously controller settings would be similar)
I use recon control lay out that mimics Halo 3s control scheme and next thing i know im able to play. this was in the flight and im glad its in the game still. EDIT: not new halo player, been playin since 2004,2005.
Hi everyone. Just wanted to comment to say that my daily challenge for completing any match isn’t working anymore so now I don’t get any XP at all. Already completed all the weekly challenges so now I have literally no reason to play.
Maybe I'm just not good enough, but I don't want to play on anything but 4k with everything on ultra. I get 60FPS like a rock and I'm happy with that. I'd rather that than dropping to 1080 to get higher FPS. I want the game beautiful in multiplayer too.
just a note the video (graphics) settings do practically less than what you're probably expecting. feel free to put geometric quality to low for a huge free ram boost, i don't even notice a difference
I honestly get that this game is next gen and my PC isn't 100% up to speed but it's damn close. I don't understand how halo infinite on it's lowest settings, looks and runs worse than Doom eternal on its highest settings on my PC.
Well, Nvidia tried to say they had "8k" ready GPU's by running DE at that resolution. That is one of the few games that could even be playable at that resolution due to how well it runs overall. Not many others like it, so probably not the best comparison against Halo. Another funny tidbit, in DE they only render the slayer's arms in world haha(not his body) However after they added ray tracing you can now see the Slayer in reflections, not sure if the in wold render changed though.
What difficulty would be best for training against the bots? I've been using the default difficulty for now because I've swapped my controller scheme over so it's similar to Reach's, since that's probably my strongest Halo game.
I play with almost classic control settings. I mapped the grenades to LT, aim with RS click and melee with RB. However, instead of having LS to sprint and LB for equipment, I have them the other way around. This si because I realized I get tired of clicking with my thumb to sprint, so in every game I map it to LB because it's less tiresome and works of me because of reach.

It’s so nice being able to shoot while jumping without taking your finger off the stick!
It’s the only way. Been using since halo 3. You will be better
Thank you. I have never sucked at an fps as much as I suck at Infinte.
Reason why you have 150k+ Subs and increasing. Direct and accurate and Informative!!!! 💯
If you can run uncapped and not stutter, thats that good shit.
if youre playing on pc (mainly steam) if you right click on properties go to dlc and untick hd texturepack, you'll get better frames and the quality still looks good, you can also go into the game files through properties go to disk_cache then gamecmcache, delete all them files for extra performance also running the game as admin helps too
Higher res textures only really affects the amount of GPU memory you'll need
@@patrickhector but its on by default though unless you untick it in the dlc page
Was literally looking for a video like this yesterday, thanks
Just adding a note here for everyone at 2:53 timestamp, I had to remove the contents previously added to the Hosts file. It was causing the 'No ping to our data centers detected' error not allowing me to join a game. Most likely due to an update that came out after the video.
Thx
Is there any other way to get a better ping
Cuz my ping is 130-150ms
i just ordered my PC today so im going to add this to my watch later, still going to watch now cuz i play on my moms pc rn
Thank you for this video! You’re great with your community. :)
Yes. Practice is important in every field. Good stuff Mint.
When you switched to bumper jumper, how long did it take you to relearn the buttons?
I was comfortable in 2-3 days, good after a week, when I was visibly better than before though it took a few months.
I switched when the beta started and it only took me a few bot matches to get it ironed out.
Making the switch is definitely worth it. I used to play claw style with default controls, but even that doesn't compare to when you get Bumper Jumper ironed out. It takes about a week to get comfortable with it.
@@MintBlitz I've been running recon for years now, but Im scared to switch
I forgot how long it took me, but my friend recently switched and it took him like 2 days.
This was very well done. Your video was concise and honest. Practice. Very nice. Thank you.
I would also make the suggestion that if you don't plan on having super high graphics and you play on steam, you can actually uninstall the preinstalled 4k texture pack in the addons section. Usually helps to reduce loading times while also giving a moderate performance boost even if your playing on low graphics settings.
I'm having frame drops ever since Scarr dropped, I'll try that.
May i say that this is the only video i actually gained results from following? Omg locked 144hz i dont believe it. Used to be 120 max
So much work was put into this game, even the settings menu is pretty impressive. Shame the marketing team committed to this progression/unlock/shop system
Thanks for the heads up. Very helpful video. Keep it up👍🏻
I liked the part about practice. A lot of people just think this stuff just comes to people.
:)
Here is my controller mapping:
Left Trigger: Aim Down Sights
Left Bumper: Jump
Right Trigger: Shoot
Right Bumper: Equipment
Left Stick: Sprint
Right Stick: Grenade
A: Slide (hold down for crouch)
B: Melee
X: Reload
Y: Change Weapon
I remapped my sprint and marking as both the right and left d pad.
You want melee on RB because you don't want to let go of the stick in CQC.
Great video bro as another Aussie il be blocking the other servers on my series x. The academy is so useful , a very good addition to Halo.
This was a huge help man, thanks!
I've set up a FFA mode vs 7x Spartan level bots for a practice game mode before I jump into actual games each time. It's definitely helped improve my scores. Will try out some of these other tips too.
Thankyou I'm so much better with the sniper now I messed with the settings found the sweet spot 1.3 feels just right for me on controller
Thank you for the ping fix! Going to try it today
Valuable information, thank you sir
Thanks for the vid Mint!! Goat! 👌🔥
Hi Mint. I love your videos
❤️
@@MintBlitz Please never stop making videos
I currently have, LT for crouch slide, RB to sprint, LB for grenade, A to jump, right stick to zoom, B for equipment, X to reload. I wanted my right stick to zoom but also slide, jump shoot comfortable… and be sneaky.
You are a beast in Halo great video!!!
This video is always good to refer to cause Halo is a controller game, and always be a controller game
Look’s Max Input Threshold has a large effect on the sensitivity curve both near the center and towards the outside past the sensitivity spike.
Anyone back here again after Season 3 messed your shit up?
I don't have any business making suggestions but for PC I came up with a weird key binding that's helped me a bit. I set F to grenade instead of melee, moved melee to one of the spare buttons M4/5 (navigation buttons in the browser context) and the other mouse button to switch weapons. What I like about it is the buttons I use the most take the least amount of effort to hit, plus hitting melee when you need a grenade or vice versa can be a death sentence and I seem to have very fat fingers so F/G for melee/grenade is not great.
Awesome vid! I’m curious, have you changed or updated any of the settings since this vid?
The Reddit link for blocking servers has veen deleted. Or the relevant info has, anyway. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you, thank you. Off to practice. For something like this is why I love the training mode on Infinite. The bots on Odst or Spartan mode can be heartless killing machines. Lol.
Great video!!
Bumper Jumper is good if you hold the controller the traditional way, but if you use THE CLAW then I don't think it improves much at all.
What is you opinion on look acceleration? Wouldn’t a higher value be better to turn around faster?
Sure, but can you hit shots consistently? My accuracy suffers on Infinite if I raise it at the moment.
Anything higher than 2 is pretty much faster than every look accel value in past halo games. 3 is as fast as 10 on MCC for reference.
thanks, good advice here
thanks Remy !
thanks a lot friend!
Great video
Do you still play with that sensitivity or did you update it cuz ive used this but i have trouble doing ninjas like you?
Thank You Mint.
hey mint, what are your weapon offset settings?
It is too late for me to switch my controller settings already. My controller scheme is like a weird combination of Halo 5’s default scheme and Halo 3’s default scheme. I got B for melee, RB for interact/reload, X for equipment, A for jump, Y for weapon swap, RT to shoot, but I have clicking on the right thumbstick for crouching/sliding, clicking on the left for sprinting, LT for zoom, and LB for grenade. Thanks 343 for custom rebinds.
tldr: Left half of the controller is H5 and Right half is H3.
I mean if you can claw grip with those settings you should be fine
@@rorke47 been playing claw since I touched a controller
I haven’t looked yet, I will later today, but thought I’d ask now anyway. Does this video only apply to PC or can I use these settings on Xbox One X? (Speaking specifically about the ping/server selection and video settings, obviously controller settings would be similar)
Thanks for the tip to fix ping. Just oceanic problems
Love the Aussie accent
Come for halo tips, leave with life advice. 10/10
Do you use all the same buttons of the default Bumper Jumper or do you have some buttons remapped?
I was wondering why I kept joining lobbies between 200-300 ping. I’ll go check out your other video but holy shit thanks man
I use recon control lay out that mimics Halo 3s control scheme and next thing i know im able to play. this was in the flight and im glad its in the game still.
EDIT: not new halo player, been playin since 2004,2005.
On console in settings set your video setting to Performance instead of default quality. It helps.
Controlla playa 😎
Hi everyone. Just wanted to comment to say that my daily challenge for completing any match isn’t working anymore so now I don’t get any XP at all. Already completed all the weekly challenges so now I have literally no reason to play.
I'm just surprised we need to go to this effort with controller settings. Infinite is the only FPS game I have to do this with to not suck at aiming.
Maybe I'm just not good enough, but I don't want to play on anything but 4k with everything on ultra. I get 60FPS like a rock and I'm happy with that. I'd rather that than dropping to 1080 to get higher FPS. I want the game beautiful in multiplayer too.
Do you think MnK is better or Controller
Are they still up to date or did u change stuff in those 2 months ?
just a note the video (graphics) settings do practically less than what you're probably expecting. feel free to put geometric quality to low for a huge free ram boost, i don't even notice a difference
Thanks!!
I’ve been using default controls forever, should I switch to bumper jumper?
Hey Mint do you still use these sensitivity settings?
I honestly get that this game is next gen and my PC isn't 100% up to speed but it's damn close. I don't understand how halo infinite on it's lowest settings, looks and runs worse than Doom eternal on its highest settings on my PC.
Well, Nvidia tried to say they had "8k" ready GPU's by running DE at that resolution. That is one of the few games that could even be playable at that resolution due to how well it runs overall.
Not many others like it, so probably not the best comparison against Halo. Another funny tidbit, in DE they only render the slayer's arms in world haha(not his body)
However after they added ray tracing you can now see the Slayer in reflections, not sure if the in wold render changed though.
You get drift on below 8 on look dz or just preference?
If u see "mintblitz" in your opponent list than just start throwing plasma grenades...
Wish I could do most of these settings on console. I suffer from bad latency and high ping
I'm trying your sensitivity, but, how do you use the commando? I can't aim hipfiring cause it's too fast
Man actually admitted to geofiltering 😂
Trying bumper jumper for the first time
So the best looking acceleration for halo infinite is 2 to 4 in for controller sensitivity to keep it in control and stable when moving?
5 acceleration club.
What difficulty would be best for training against the bots? I've been using the default difficulty for now because I've swapped my controller scheme over so it's similar to Reach's, since that's probably my strongest Halo game.
Marine-ODST is what I do.
Thank you. An FPS cap in the menus has to be implemented.
