I’ve never been a fan of your music or the music you play, but man I respect you so much as a DJ. Your approach to music, how down to earth you are and taking the time to make these videos and the stuff you cover, it’s dead appreciated. I actually record mixes at home using the old method you used (I took the rubber bit off the earphone to still get bleed from the over ear headphones) so this was pretty cool to watch, especially seeing where you are now when it comes to using on ears!

great ep as always Luke. I use in ear headphones since coming out of retirement as well. I can go to a gig with my headphones and USB in my pocket but the biggest advantage is they protect my ears. My first gig back and a couple of other shows, i had no control to turn down the extremely loud fold back. So with the in ear, i could mix with them and even leave them in with the volume turned off while i wasn't mixing. My ears are my biggest asset and i need to protect them.

really appreciate this. Not being able to afford really good IEM i started hunting around for a musicians alternative, and came across isk who are known for mics, but not earphones so much. Theyd dropped the price to £35 because i guess they just weren't selling. from £80. 2m long wire, so ideal. I paired them with some comfyfoam plugs and the isolation is terrific. Didn't take me long to get used to it either. It was hearing aobut you using them first which put me onto them, and its so much nicer than working with earphones, and it means the audience levels can be whatever works in that environment, and i can have everything set for me. and protect my hearing. love your stuff!

Wow...I have been using big old skool sized headphones when djing for 2 decades now and have been struggling with ringing in my ears after each gig. I have tried wearing ear filters, but it just doesn't feel right. After watching your video I ordered my new Beats Tour 2.5 Titanium headphones and they just arrived. Best headphones ever and you can jump around and they don't fall out (just like you said in your vlog). Also they 100% block out all sound around you so you can hear 100% of what you are listening to. Just ordered another 2 pairs as they are only £47 each and I want them everywhere I go (with backups). The cable looks really thick and durable also and love the 3 sets of ear inserts. Had to try them all to see which size fitted best :-)
Winning on a Saturday morning lol.
    Thanks for sharing :-)

I find foam tips (like the material from foam ear plugs) on IEMs to help with both sound dampening and keep them more secure in your ear so they won't fall out. I would usually keep an IEM w/foam tips in my pocket so if I head to a bar or club that has loud music, these would help.

hey Luke, big question I have is when you use in-ears don't you find it blocks out alot of crowd noise? dont you find this important when checking to see crowd reaction to a certain record?
also in some venues the sound through their system may differ to what you hear in your in-ear monitors. for example a track may sound fine in your in-ears, but play out too/less bassy outside. how do you workaround this?
also, if you have promoters/managers/staff speak to you stuff whist playing dont you find it abit annoying to take the in-ears on/off?
these are the question I've been asking myself before investing in a good set of in-ear monitors :)

In-ear headphones are much better than a big headphones commonly used by many DJ's, because sometimes the speakers in the club I used to gig was very loud that I almost hear nothing on my headphones, because my output of my controller was too low even the volume knob was turned all the way up. Then, I realize that my day-to-day in-ear headphones was a little bit louder than my bigger headphones, so instead of bringing the big one, I now always bring in-ear headphones in a gig. The only disadvantage of having an in-ear headphones, sometimes when I doing some tricks in DJ-ing (scratching, doubles, etc.) I always remove the headphones, and when I putting it back to my ears, sometimes the headphones itself gets tangled, so sometimes I missed a track when it gets to the first chorus or drop when I supposed to mix a second track. But still, in-ear headphones makes my life easy.
