I have a pair of Shure in ears. One reason why I bought them is because they also act as ear plugs. I think they are rated for 30 dB. When we are around loud music all night long this is a good way of protecting your hearing.

I tried several times to use inEars because of ear protection and better look on private events,
but I’ll always struggle with these Problem:
for 35 years I used my headphone only one sided, to hear the channel cue on left ear und right ear open for main signal.
I think this is for every Dj comfortable.
Finally i found the perfect solution for this problem.
Now i use a tiny battery powered mixer with 2 inputs and balance knobs for each input.
On the first input i plugged the Phones Output of my mixer and input balance to left and on second input i put the RecOut (or booth out) signal from my mixer and balance to right.
Once i set the right volume on each input of the tiny Mixer it is he perfect solution for me and my ears.
I bought this tiny mixer and it worked great for me: Maker Hart - Just Mixer (not possible to post the link), ask me for further details
sorry for my bad English, I am from munich/Germany

I’ve used Shure 215 for years. I love them. Inexpensive. Space saver in your bag and easy to carry multiple as backups

I have a big wedding this weekend, really excited and ready. Of course, we all get the pre-gig jitters. But I'll be just fine. DJ Joe, keep watch for the gig log.

One advantage to the headphones I feel is a quick off. One thing I struggled with using even ear plugs when I DJ is when I do mic work. I realize you can hear yourself in the IEM (if your settings on the cue sent are correct), but I feel it's not a good live sound. So I think I would be constantly putting the monitors in and taking them out (at least one side).

Came here to say this - I wear my in-ears during livestreams because I'm leaving them in, but headphones I like for live events. I also don't like headphones/headsets, but I like the quick off, and I find people don't talk to me when they see my headphones on, but with in-ears people don't notice them and I have someone I don't notice trying to talk to me

@@DJJoeBunn I feel like that would make it even harder to know the right level and inflection to use on the mic. Maybe if someone was running the mixer for you, but for not working solo. Im sure with practice it might be different, but hard to get there.

Ive been using my $5 Skull candy in ear headphones for about 10 years now(Not Wireless). My ears were in so much pain and luckily I had the in ears in my backpack.. Life savers and money savers.. Just gotta remember to either unplug it from the board or from your ears

Hypothetically, could you use the wireless body pack with regular headphones? Basically creating wireless V-Moda headphones for DJing? It might be a good 1/2 way point for people making the transition.

      100% yes

Or just get the wireless V-Moda. I think they're Bluetooth however

I use them because I just started locking my hair. But I definitely don't hear as well when mixing. But I have the inexpensive shures. Custom IEMs can be stupid expensive.

Leave it to you to use an IEM the way they were designed. Lol. Actually never thought about using them for the purpose they were designed for in our industry

    Awesome set up.
Question, when you run a wireless speaker, do you control the volume from your head phones volume knob on your controller? Or do you re wire the input to the IEM, (booth out)

Hmm I stopped using headphones long time ago. When not using headphones you really need to know your music that's a huge key!!!! And since I started using serato made life and mixing that much easier!!!!

The one thing I'm sure everything will want to know is can you notice latency?

I should have said that. I notice none.

IEM packs are great at this. I've never had latency while using them on stage

Body pack is the Receiver. Rack unit is the Transmitter. Clarification for anyone just getting into this field

Cool but I’ll stick to my $30 Sonys. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not cheap having just sold my old ape lab maxi uplights to get the 2.0s and bought the Bose L1 pro 32s sub 2s. Never had trouble beat mixing with cheap headphones ..
