I've always felt that completely scrapping Beastly Kingdom at Animal Kingdom was a mistake. Pandora is cool, yes, but man did they have so many amazing, creative possibilities for a fantasy animal area's attractions. And unlike Pandora/Avatar, dragons and other fantasy creatures have an enduring cultural impact that has already proven the test of time. Maybe expand the park to finally include it.
@@kylebittner1327 after the theme was originally put off in favor of a dinosaur themed land due to lack of budget. However, there is a wealth of source material to draw from. Dragons, unicorns, sea "monsters", and a huge variety of mythical creatures have had stories told about them for centuries. They easily could create a new land based on literally anything and have plenty of ride/attraction/show inspirations different from the ones found in Islands of Adventure.
Disney’s biggest mistake is assuming that constantly raising prices and making consumers pay for things that were FREE should be number #1 on the list. And this is coming from someone who was born and raised a Disney lover.
@@rinoz47 I forget what the soda/drink limit was on the cups, but yeah the principle of it was absolutely a slap in the face for what everyone knows is like the cheapest expense for a park, soda.
Honestly, that’s a point why I can understand WDW but not Anaheim. They have many international visitors and in the most countries it’s usual to pay for it every time. I think, rising the prices on everything and that all the time is… I mean, WDW and Anaheim got new attractions, but Disneyland Paris? I mean, look at your hotel rooms, they definitely need a refresh after 25th years and offering them at this price is just rude. Always prefer the US or other Disney parks than Disneyland paris
I'd like to personally apologize to all the viewers for Offhand Disney's failure to mention Bob Chapek as the greatest Disney Park fail of all time. Including the future. Also removing the McDonald's fry wagons.
@@DoomCat420 ....why? I'm saying my family agrees with the sentiment that Chapek is one of Disney's biggest mistakes with how much he's jacked up the prices on everything.
In the finale room of small world in Florida, there used to be a sad clown doll in a hot air balloon holding a sign that said “help.” They changed it years ago and I’m still disappointed.
Getting rid of the classic Epcot music loop would be on mine. Yeah, I expected it to go when they announced the Future World remodeling and thanks to UA-cam I could pull them up if I wanted to listen to them, but it’s sad knowing the next time I go won’t be able to hear those awesome tunes while walking around. It’s just part of the experience, you know? Oh, and also what they did with Spectromagic. That still hurts.
It’s weird, it’s not first on my list of “lost Disney attractions I wish I could ride” by any means but I almost wish I could ride it. It’s really walking the line of “so bad it’s good” and I kinda want to experience it.
Hey Dallin, I completely agree with you on the Aladdin show. We are proud to say that not one but 2 different Jasmines from that show hired my band to perform for their weddings! One of them was Jasmine and Aladdin; they met while performing in the cast.
I loved your hotel tier list video!!! Have you thought about doing a restaurant tier list? Idk how much you’re into the food aspect of the parks, but that could be fun!
I still think Disney made a huge mistake changing DCA’s Tower of Terror into Mission Breakout. They wanted to add a Guardians of the Galaxy ride? Fine. They could’ve built something new from the ground up. They didn’t have to close my favorite attraction! 😢
I really like GOTG:MB but I absolutely hear you. The tower of terror at WDW:HS has been my favorite ride on earth since I was 10 years old. I’d chain myself to the entrance in protest if they tried to close it lol.
When Disney gets broken up by Congress under antitrust and Marvel is taken away from them, they'll be forced to restore Tower of Terror. Nobody will cry over the loss of Guardians for the return of an iconic attraction.
For me, the biggest mistake was adding fastpass to specifically the Haunted Mansion in Anaheim. We already had enough of a problem with congestion in that area because of the line for Pirates that always snaked around the walkways and Haunted Mansion cleared a lot of the extra mess up because the line was like 15 minutes max and almost constantly moving. Then they added fastpass and now you're lucky if the wait is under 45 minutes and you can't find a single shady spot to enjoy because the line takes up pretty much all of it. Add in the insane lines for the limited edition popcorn buckets, sippers, and churros and the entire area of the park is just a sea of people which kind of ruins it for me. I used to be my favorite area of the park but now I try to get both those rides done as early into the day as possible so I can avoid that area for the rest of the day.
Great video! Great job highlighting the Aladdin show. The Genie’s ad libs ALWAYS kept THAT show fresh & memorable and the performer who played the Magic Carpet always injected the show with so much fun and energy. That really did deserve to be highlighted. 👏👏👏 I would have expanded the list to include The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. What an unbelievable disaster that was.
I haven't even been to Disneyland Paris, but the idea of (halfway) retheming the Paris Space Mountain from Jules Verne to Star Wars just seems unforgivable to me. They had something utterly unique that arguably saved the whole park and they made it more cookie-cutter.
I´ve had the pleasure of riding the original Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris. It truly was a thing of beauty, one of the best coasters Disney ever did. The current Star Wars overlay is just wrong and sad.
I worked at Disneyland Paris for seven years and I always loved how they did space mountain with a retro steam punk French twist that fits perfectly with the whole theming of Discoveryland. The Star Wars overlay is a bit pointless considering there’s already Star Tours right next to it which is far better theming for true fans
Would you consider covering Magic Journeys? Because I feel like a mistake Disney has made in general is not taking risks with artistic experimentation anymore. It goes hand and hand with Journey into Imagination, but the story of actually setting it up in Epcot is kind of crazy. Mark Eades is an under appreciated hero.
I think that new Tomorrowland is on the books, but I think they need to get through the Toon Town remodel first. Same thing with some of the EPCOT updates, they can’t add more to the list until they get what they’ve already started complete. They can have too much closed at once.
I can't imagine how they would do Tomorrow Land though, you would think the smart thing is to simply level it and rebuild (except Space Mountain and the Monorail) but Disney has really gotten too cheap in stuff like that, if they were making a new land e.g. Galaxies Edge, Radiator Springs, Avenger's Campus then sure you close everything down and deal with it, but they're not going to refurbish a whole area, heck when they did Fantasyland it was really only some additions as opposed to a complete rebuild.
Dallin is the only guy I watch to stay up to date about the parks. Even though I’ve gotten turned off from the parks and the company as a whole, he’s: 1. Helped me find positives. 2. Helped me to become a fan of DL over WDW any day of the week. My only further comment is that DL has a MUCH better balance of old with new. Walt’s idea was keep what’s working there (Walt would NOT last in the PC Climate) and introduce new ideas. WDW is…eh. I think the Dreamfinder Journey and Carousel would fit much better at DL. Also, I think Adventures Thru Inner Space would be WAY better than Star Tours. So much potential…
Now that we've got Smuggler's Run they should definitely bring back Adventure Through Inner Space. They could make it a simulator attraction and bring it back in the same space with minimal downtime. And yes, I know we already sorta got a simulator Adventure Through Inner Space via Body Wars, but I'm thinking this one could be a more direct successor
@@ianfinnigan264 As a child of the 90’s, Body Wars was….interesting, but even then DL was better than WDW in that regard. I think Disney could make more $$$ if they licensed out as they do in TD; Oriental is in charge of all the shows and the quality of the park speaks for itself. Not to mention when an elementary school was named for Walt, he had one of his imagineers design the playground. Would make the park more accessible; same experience? Of course not, but still accessible for a fraction of cost.
Disney's biggest mistake was not building Beastly Kingdom and losing the imagineers to Universal. In all honesty I'm a Universal fan over Disney now. Since Disney World announced Tron, Universal has built two world class coasters in Hagrid's Magical Motorbike Adventure AND Velocicoaster. I can usually only afford a trip down to Florida every couple of years, so I go to Universal to ride new and exciting rides instead of going to Disney to see a Tron construction update for myself.
@@stefanfilipovits21 it’s such a phenomenal coaster man, hope you enjoy the experience! And don’t worry your butt will get off the seat but you’ll be good 👍 😂
I wish the World Showcase could have all the rides and nations that were once conceptualized or have been lost. I LOVED it as a kid and wish it was a more immersive, exciting experience.
From what I heard here are Disney’s biggest fails: Not taking up Harry Potter movies Not taking up Harry Potter theme parks (seriously how do you fail at something so successful TWICE) Not taking up back to the future
You're 110% right about Happily Ever After. Enchantment was so disappointing, it had no emotion to it really. I cried every time I saw HEA, and as a CP I saw that show many a time lol. Heck, I almost cried at that short clip. Disney, please please please bring it back I beg of you
You're not alone. I forever count myself lucky that the one time I was able to visit the Magic Kingdom it was when Happily Ever After was going. Definitely one of the best disney nighttime shows ever, up there with the classics like Fantasmic. I also almost cried at just that short clip
OKAY I’m gonna put on my coping tin foil hat but every firework show (wishes & illuminations) had farewell merchandise before it closes but happily ever after didn’t have any of that so MAYBE it’s gonna come back
Thanks for doing this video! There are a lot of people who have forgotten about all the mistakes Disney has made in the past. Yes they've made some recent mistakes as well, but that's nothing new to Disney, and I definitely don't think the Disney brand is dying / going downhill as some would suggest. I think a huge Disney mistake was the original MGM Studios. Yes it has become a decent park, but when it opened it was a cheap half day park with lackluster attractions. They rushed MGM simply to compete against USF, instead of creating something unique that lived up to Disney standards.
I’m one of those weirdos whose favorite park is HS, and I’m always shocked at the shocking deficit of attractions when it opened. It wasn’t until Tower Of Terror came in the mid 90’s that I remember people starting to appreciate it more.
I love how one of the clips of Figment showed him broken. That animatronic is so, SO begging for a break. The neck is stiff and his mouth barely moves, when he’s supposed to be much more fluid.
One of the biggest mistakes Disney ever made? Hmmm…well, in terms of long ago mistakes, I’d say relying on corporate sponsors in EPCOT. I know attractions are expensive & the goal was a permanent world’s fair vibe. But when a corporate sponsor’s contract ended, the next company they got to sponsor it almost always demanded a new attraction get built in its place and that was detrimental to so many classic attractions. The old EPCOT rides would still hold up today & be in the realms of Pirates, mansion, Junior cruise, etc. and every single one of those classic Epcot rides were replaced with far worse attractions. Horizons, World of Motion, Figment, Universe of Energy, Wonders of life pavilion was just shuttered, even spaceship earth felt the effects with its new ending. EPCOT was wounded each time it happened and that park is still hemorrhaging from those decisions. Now, in terms of a modern day mistake, the first thing that comes to mind, and it may be a controversial take so I’m sorry, Galaxy’s Edge. The land is lackluster and while I agree that Rise is good, it’s not that good. Each land on each coast cost over $1 billion to make; those r not $1 billion lands. They aren’t. Disneyland lost 14 precious acres that could have been used for other expansions, better expansions. Studios lost backlot tour(one of its thesis statement attractions), lights motors action(one of the best shows) and the Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights(that was THE Christmas attraction in all WDW.) The land itself is poorly designed too. Their is so much dead space in that land, so much beige and brown, so much concrete. If it wasn’t for the Millennium Falcon sitting out, would anyone realize it’s a Star Wars land? Does Star Wars deserve their own land or lands in the parks? Hell yes, obviously, but what we got is not good. Star Wars deserved so much better. Ok. I’m gonna stop my rant before it turns into an essay on poor design choices. 😂
"Does Star Wars deserve their own land or lands in the parks?" Actually, no. Since Disney does not have the rights to the original trilogy of movies, anything they built with the theme of the new movies would be lacking.
@@chrissygerwitz520 Disney does own the rights to the OT and the prequels. They actively CHOSE to make it themed to the sequels because Iger thought it would be a good marketing gimmick
When I saw PeopleMover in the thumbnail of the video, I was REALLY hoping that you were going in the direction you were going. Also, if you saw Provost Park Pass' video from yesterday, you know you're not alone on your Tomorrrowland plan.
They made a huge mistake closing down the Sunkist Citrus House on Main Street in Disneyland. You could get freshly squeezed, ice cold orange juice and it was amazing. I remember looking forward to it as a child. Bring it back, Disney!!!
I totally agree with number one. I miss the Dreamfinder too. Also, I believe that if Disneyland built another structure by the Paradise Pier hotel, they could build a version of Westcot where the Toy Story lot is. As for mistakes. I think closing the Skyway was a mistake.
Hot take, I know, but I miss maelstrom. It was just so quintessential, weird Epcot. And I know why they did it, frozen draws more people in, the kids wanted it, money...it was the right decision for the company But it's just hard not to shout NORVEY. Personally I wish they had added it to fantasyland, but once again they saved crazy time and money by building it in the pavilion.
Maelstrom also shut down because Norway dropped their sponsorship on the Pavillion. Frozen just happened to take place in Norway making it perfect for Disney but honestly I'm disappointed by the ride. Could be better
@@aphoticphoton I mean yes but then they would run into the same problem as Horizons like he mentions in the video. And it wasn't like a huge ride so Disney figured more people will want to ride Frozen because frozen was huge when it came out and got a ride very quickly compared to other Disney movies
I do too! It was a really charming and unique attraction. It was one of those rides everyone in my family liked and it has a really unique (if disneyfied) take on a culture we don’t really get to see a lot. I dug it.
Yeah I’ll have to agree with the figment one. Just the other day I rode Journey into Imagination and it felt definitely “penny pinching”. Unfortunately I am very young so I never got to experience what the original was like. I wish I could’ve though. Love your videos btw!
For me their biggest mistake was replacing Journey to Inner Space with Star Tours. A sub-mistake is spreading Star Wars all over Tomorrowland after completing Galaxy's Edge. They're skinning up Hyperspace Mountain next month, come on Disney you've already driven me to dislike Star Wars, stop rubbing it in.
@@scotthardie5141 probably because of the new trilogy itself, the terrible handling of older characters and nostalgia bait, the mediocre at best attractions/land, Solo, the implement and propaganda of political ideologies from actors and staff, etc. Not to say Disney hasn’t done good things like Rogue One, Mandalorian, Clone Wars S7, and Bad Batch, but they’ve had more losses than wins.
I loved the people mover as a child. Parents got a chance to sit and relax for a few minutes. It was amazing to see the behind the track of Space mountain. We went in the summer and somehow it always had a cool breeze.
To be honest, I was at DCA the year it opened, while underwhelming I was happy to have a new park just the same. I wouldn't call it a "worst fail", simply a disappointment. It was the "bones" that the current, improved, park are built on.
If you really miss the Aladdin show, might I suggest a Disney Cruise? Because that’s where they moved the show. And I’m pretty sure Dylan White was playing the Genie. His performance was so good they brought him back to play the genie in another show on board. I remember him getting a round of applause when he appeared on the stage and he asked “did you miss me?”
I know they did it for covid reasons but the worst thing they ever did was remove park hopper at disney world. Like there was nothing better than spending a day at magic kingdom and then going to hollywood studios for fantasmic, or spending the first half of your day at blizzard beach, going back to your hotel to rest, then going to epcot for dinner. I mean hell, epcot has to be my most entered and left park at disney world because it feels like the entire point of world showcase is to be a dinner place. Just feels like an empty experience without parkhopper.
They managed to correct course on the Enchanted Tiki Room. Extra credit goes to the most recent remodel at DL. Almost all of the outdoor tikis in the pre-show survived. Journey should follow suit. They say that the Peoplemover in DL closed because guests could not be properly supervised. (Or evacuated.) How are guests supervised at MK that allows that Peoplemover to remain open?
For Disneyland, I wouldn't completely shut down Tomorrowland. I would bulldoze the America Sings building, use that area for Tron and then use the Peoplemover track route for the Tron ride. I would leave most of the rest of TL as is. The addition of Tron would add a lot of movement and innovation.
I can only think "Happily Ever After" cost a whole lot more to run than its replacement... surely budget is the only reason you'd permanently scrap such a well-loved, successful show. "Wishes" was so popular and so many people had such strong emotions about it, topping it seemed impossible yet they managed it! As a cynical Brit I can see how they throw every trick in the book to manipulate your emotions with the show, yet, I go along with it because it's just THAT GOOD. Even got emotional watching the clip here! Disneyland Paris - If you're familiar with OG Disneyland and go to Magic Kingdom, you go "where is everything? Half the attractions are missing!" In the same vein, if you're familiar with Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Paris feels like half the attractions are missing. So overall, it feels like a quarter of the attractions as its namesake. There's just not all that much to do! It's underwhelming. Beautiful, gorgeous designs, just not much to do. Have to agree that the solution for Tomorrowland in Disneyland is pretty much to close the land. They're doing it to Toontown, precident is set. I'd love to see a mid-century retro-futuristic take, in line with the original but just... more fun and quirky? Or go full Steampunk (but btw, Star Wars doesn't work with Steampunk, DLP) But they need to take a year off from having Tomorrowland, completely pull down all the dead bones, and rebuild. Commit to making it excellent. I do have hope that Figment has become insanely popular as the mascot for Epcot, that's gotta pull a lot of focus onto how crap his attraction is, right? So revamping it has to be in the plans... right? Surely?
I’ll tell you what their biggest parade mistake was: NOT doing some sort of cross-promotion between the Main Street Electrical parade and “Tron: Legacy”. Really think about that. We’re talking about a film that heavily features dark backdrops, lights, and electronic music, and they revived the parade in Orlando just six months before the film came out. How did Disney NOT make this connection? The parade could’ve been used to promote the film with a special float and Daft Punk’s music, and the advertising for the film could’ve mentioned that the parade was back. Even if they didn’t want to take a chance on a float based on the new film, they could’ve built one based on the original and then just stuck characters from the new one on it.
Totally onboard with the Aladdin show. Disneyland used to have a great act that packed the Golden Horseshoe Review, but for some unknown reason the exiled Bill Hill and the Hillbillies to Big Thunder Jamboree and then cancelled their contract completely. I miss them almost as much as the People Mover.
4:06 I’m right there with you on Horizons. I remember as a kid my parents had these ‘Visit Walt Disney World’ tourism VHS tapes that me and my siblings would watch. The Epoct one (which was made back in like 1989) showed Horizons and I thought it looked really cool. But by this time us kids were ‘old enough’ for Epoct (that is wouldn’t get bored out of our skulls) Horizons had been shut down. Such a shame, I think I would have loved it even as a kid
I went to Disney World for the first time in 2019, with the Magic Kingdom being the first park that I visited. So Happily Ever After is very special to me, and I would love for them to bring it back! I'm watching this at work right now, and that clip of the finale has me crying😭
Disney's biggest failure was not promoting Jeffrey Katzenberg following the death of Frank Wells, causing him to leave the company and help found DreamWorks. This single mistake led to most of the problems with the Eisner-era, as it meant Eisner had lost most of his allies and his primary support network Edit: also this one is more of a personal opinion but the current bride in the haunted mansion is also a very big mistake
I think their biggest mistake was not getting the theme park rights to Harry Potter when Rowling came to them. They basically created their biggest competition by sending Harry Potter off to Universal. Ether that or deciding to get rid of the Great Movie Ride and not just giving it a refresh and putting Mickey's runaway railway in the animation courtyard, lol
I agree 100% on closing down Tomorrowland and revamping everything. I'm not saying that they need to get rid of Tomorrowland, but they need to give it a Toontown treatment. I've been saying for years that all they need to do to make Tomorrowland great is get rid of all the Star Wars, tear down the Peoplemover (or bring it back) and at least make an attempt at putting in electric cars to Autopia. I was told by so many people "Disney would never close an entire land for that long!" Now look at where we are. Futureworld at Epcot - mostly under construction; A Bug's Land - torn out and became Avengers Campus; Paradise Pier - torn out and became Pixar Pier; Toontown - closed down and is being refurbished. There are other examples but it goes to show that there's precedent for this kind of thing. It wouldn't even be that expensive! How much is it really to bulldoze the Peoplemover track? How much is it really to put a new movie into the Star Tours simulators? How much is it really to turn Innoventions into Space 220? It can't be as expensive as what they did for Avengers Campus. Not by a mile. Disney, it's time. Once you're done with Toontown, all focus needs to be on Tomorrowland, where it should have been for the past ten or so years.
I wonder why Disney hasn't changed Journey into Imagination with Figment back into Journey into Imagination... is it because they want people to buy more merchandise with Dreamfinder on it, or because Disney does not want to spend more money.... But why is Disney redoing pretty much change all of EPCOT when the main thing to change was to bring back Journey into Imagination. Honestly all they need to make EPCOT great again is to bring back Journey Into Imagination.
I think the biggest mistake Disney is currently doing is the lack of original rides and more IP based attractions and activities. The only reason why Figment is popular is because the whole concept with him was original, and not IP based. Yeah, Star Wars and Marvel is cool and stuff but we also need to add more original rides and hire some people that can think up of said original rides, because that’s what Disney magic was, not some cheap scheme for upper middle class families to bleed dry just to visit some IP based rides. That’s why we need more people like Tony Baxter; people like them made the parks better and more interesting.
I agree 100% on Horizons and California Adventure…. But I would add taking out Great movie ride and replacing it with Mickeys train wreak and only putting in new rides based on intellectual property in the parks ….. especially Epcot…. I like it when Epcot had educational rides.
i remember getting to hollywood studios at 6am one morning to get a boarding pass #80. so we woke at at 4:30 and got to ride around 6:30 pm or later due to the ride going down. also after we got the pass, we headed to slinky dog and it was pouring rain and still dark out. we had a fun day overall but we sat inside some star wars restaurant for over 3 hours waiting for this damn boarding pass
I agree with most of your list. I really only have experience with WDW, but my list would be: 1. Bob Chapek (I know, kind of a meme). He has been the direct cause of, or in close proximity to, most of the issues surrounding the parks and even the company itself over the last several years (not to say that Iger is guilt free, but at least he can pretend to care). A number of those things could be entries themselves, like increasing prices while providing less, charging for things that were free, low cast member pay, and poor attraction maintenance. 2. Replacing the original Imagination and ImageWorks. Which leads to... 3. Almost every change to EPCOT, especially recently. With the exception of Spaceship Earth (for now?) there's almost no edutainment or opening day/early attractions anymore, and it keeps getting more and more movie IP. Heck, I like Test Track (though World of Motion will always have a place in my heart), but even the current version of that is a downgrade from what it was. Innoventions Plaza was my favorite place in the whole of WDW and it's pretty much all gone now; the music, the Fountain of Nations, and yes, even the architecture. And oh how I miss Maelstrom and Horizons. 4. Harmonious and Enchantment. Both are downgrades to the show they're replacing. They're also both essentially the same clip show just with a different form factor. While one could say Happily Ever After was also a clip show, it at least had soul. And Illuminations was totally original; not a movie song anywhere. Even Epcot Forever was a better show for that reason (apart from the finale). Not to mention that ugly "star gate" and other screens permanently blocking the view across the lagoon. 5. Pandora. It should have been Beastly Kingdom. 6. Replacing The Great Move Ride. Like #3, the larger issue is that Hollywood Studios is also losing its identity, and that was the biggest loss for it. Runaway Railway just isn't that good. You can't even get a good look at the foot and hand prints outside anymore with a portion of the queue going over them. I like Galaxy's Edge, but I miss the Backlot Tour. I miss things like the sound effect show near Echo Lake, Streets of America, and the old cars there and on Sunset Boulevard. They've even removed Benny the Cab from Backlot Express. Also, they should have put the Earffel Tower somewhere else in the park or moved it to Disney Springs. 7. FastPass+. Possibly the most controversial on my list, but the old paper system was functionally better since you had to actually be in the park to get one. None of this reserving months in advance. Everything was more free form back then, really. 8. Canceling SpectroMagic and allowing the floats to deteriorate into basically junk. 9. Discontinuing the Magical Express. It was such a nice and easy way to get to your resort. 10. The Sorcerer Micky hat (and later the Star Wars stage shows) at Studios. It was there far too long and blocked the view of the theater from Hollywood Boulevard, which is akin to something blocking the castle from Main Street. And they're still making this kind of mistake (see #4).
This is not a surprising complaint but the Yeti in Expedition Everest is an issue. First they extremely underestimated the amount of support it would need/how heavy it would be. Second, Joe Rhode continues to promise that the Yeti will be fixed, yet Disney itself has said absolutely nothing on even IF they plan to fix it.
I was in the same crowd with you on the 50th! I'm honestly shocked you didn't bring up Light Magic. Disney poured money into a campaign for what was supposedly the final show for the Electrical Parade...only to bring it back at the end of the summer when it's expensive successor bombed!
Oh god. Speaking of the Aladdin show at the Hyperion. I was 10 years old and on our last family vacation in Disneyland for the next 10 years (since we'd be moving out of the US) and mom was really intent on watching Aladdin on our last day in the park because it was our favorite show. Only for the show to be canceled for the rest of the day because the Magic Carpet's foot apparently got caught in some stage mechanism and BROKE HER FOOT. I feel bad for the carpet but my mom was devastated. And now you can't watch Aladdin anymore.
Here is what I would do for the Imagination pavilion. Make a 3D film with Dreamfinder and Figment and put it in the theater barely being used (and re-use the wonderful Sherman brothers song). Then junk the ride and build an Inside Out ride stressing how the emotions spark imagination. Reopen the second floor and re-open the imagination playground with new exhibits. Also, bring back the rainbow tunnel!
Horizons was one of the best dark rides made. The original EPCOT was amazing. I’m sorry they have lost the vision of a permanent world fair The original Imagination was so much better with Dream Finder.
When we had our family trip to disneyland, we got a seat up high for the Aladdin one and it was the first time I got to understand how things work. The visual effects work much better when you don’t have a birds eye view

There was not enough love behind Alien Encounter. They went all in, and it was super cool and fun (got to ride the OG version). I don’t know how people would not expect to be scared going into the ride, but it sucks when Disney caves in to tame down rides. I think they would have extended ridership if they’d just keep them they way they were intended.
Amen. After I seize Disney in a hostile takeover, I plan on not only bringing Alien Encounter back to WDW, but to Disneyland too. Anyone who complains about it being too scary and that it doesn't belong will get called "chicken" to their face in the hopes of getting them to react like Marty McFly when someone calls him "chicken."
Ever since I watched Defunctland's vid on Journey Into Imagination, I have _mourned_ its loss and replacements. A ride I never experienced, I mourn its absence in my life and at Disney. I really, really want that to see it make a return, it honest and truly seemed like the perfect showcase of imagination and creativity
Magic Happens was such a great parade, I hope it’s back soon. And you are 100% right about a happily ever after, I was so disappointed about enchantment.
Literally nothing is better than Eisner’s attempt at the “EuroDisney officialement OoUvErRt” and I’m so bummed you had the English at the beginning and not that 😂
For me (because I live in The Netherlands and only have been to Disneyland Paris multiple times) I miss the Pizza Planet restaurant which was in Discoveryland. The building is also still there, but the gates towards it are closed😢
If you're a fan of Horizons there's a video out there, where a guy and his buddy sneak onto the ride and hide out. They film their whole experience it's actually pretty neat. I mean I wouldn't recommend doing it but it was an interesting video. There was also another video Behind the Scenes tour of spaceship earth neat video from the late 80s early 90s.
The two TOP things that have made me sad about Disney are; the new Journey into Imagination, and the death of Horizons. Epcot was my favorite park as a kid in the 80s.
I listen to the Aladdin Broadway musical almost...daily at work and I had no idea about this other production. I can't express how down I am that I couldn't have seen it live! I did check out Dylan's IG though and had a good laugh.
Closing the court of angels in new orleans square to make it the entrance to club 33. It was a peaceful place where guests with chronic, terminal, or serious illness (like cancer), could take a moment and recuperate/
Honorable mention: Disney Parks UA-cam deleting the pro-shot versions of their fireworks and parades. I cannot tell you the amount of times I watched those when I needed a pick me up and now I don’t have those versions.
That one still breaks my heart. It was the perfect ride for that park. It had a lot of charm and was great about at making people get a feel for and love a lot of great classic films. It was also kind of a cute time capsule of the opening of that particular park.
Disney didn't include it because imagineers left Disney and went to Universal and put in similar attractions to what Disney had planned.
Not to mention Pandorka has NOTHING TO DO WITH PLANET EARTH!!!
@@StuffwellakaTy Pandora should fit well at Disney’s Hollywood Studios instead because it’s a big-budget movie!
There’s plenty of mythological animal-like creatures in several Asian mythologies so that could be a way to go…
Disney’s biggest mistake is assuming that constantly raising prices and making consumers pay for things that were FREE should be number #1 on the list. And this is coming from someone who was born and raised a Disney lover.
So whats the worst? My vote is the chipped cups.
@@rinoz47 I forget what the soda/drink limit was on the cups, but yeah the principle of it was absolutely a slap in the face for what everyone knows is like the cheapest expense for a park, soda.
Sooooo you just want free stuff?
Cali locals remember when you could get a pass for $136 dollars haha
Honestly, that’s a point why I can understand WDW but not Anaheim. They have many international visitors and in the most countries it’s usual to pay for it every time.
I think, rising the prices on everything and that all the time is…
I mean, WDW and Anaheim got new attractions, but Disneyland Paris? I mean, look at your hotel rooms, they definitely need a refresh after 25th years and offering them at this price is just rude. Always prefer the US or other Disney parks than Disneyland paris
"every restaurant I ever went to in New York was French". WHAT LOL
You forgot about The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management
Biggest mistake in my opinion is that they’ve never made Jim Hawkins from treasure planet a permanent appearance at the parks, simply stays rare.
Im so glad I found my old autograph book from the 90s to late 2000s. BEN signed it :)
You can get him as a specialty character but only if you has 10000's of dollars on hand for it XD
I'd like to personally apologize to all the viewers for Offhand Disney's failure to mention Bob Chapek as the greatest Disney Park fail of all time. Including the future. Also removing the McDonald's fry wagons.
The customer experience was on a downhill slide even before Chapek took over. He just accelerated it.
I forgot about those fries
The fry wagons gave me a chuckle
i’ve never realized eisner was reading off cue cards for the opening day speech of DLP lol
I think he was reading the plaque or something but yeah that was pretty awkward.
This was a billion dollar investment. You can’t bother memorizing 50 words for the occasion??? Sheesh

I mean to be fair, didn't he say part of the speech in French? Using cue cards for that is fine

Oh no I didn't know this! So sad 😥
I'm still angry at them for axing the Future World music. 😡
The thing that surprised me most about this video was that Superstar Limo didn’t get its own standalone entry. :-) Nice videos, man! Thanks!
I’d watch that. I’d love one on the Disney bars too.
At least they kept the OG open in Florida
And the classic Main Street Bakery, at WDW’s Magic Kingdom, that is now “just another Starbucks Coffee in the world”.
Great video! Great job highlighting the Aladdin show. The Genie’s ad libs ALWAYS kept THAT show fresh & memorable and the performer who played the Magic Carpet always injected the show with so much fun and energy. That really did deserve to be highlighted. 👏👏👏
I would have expanded the list to include The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management.
Agreed! I'm glad that poor man finally got to relax at the Contemporary after the ordeal he had to go through.
100% agree with the Aladdin take. Best live show ever and Genie was amazing every time.
I think they will hint or flat out announce it is coming at D23 just after toontown though.
Right, could’ve agreed more.
Right, could’ve agreed more.
Can’t blame you imo Universal is better (atm). I remember being 9-10 and thinking Disney was the golden standard. I’d say it’s Universal now

I wish Mr. Toads Wild Ride wasn't replaced at Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom
👏👏👏 Bravo!

And I know why they did it, frozen draws more people in, the kids wanted it, money...it was the right decision for the company
But it's just hard not to shout NORVEY.
@@kylebittner1327 Couldnt they just continue the ride without norways sponsorship?

How did Disney drive you to dislike Star Wars?
@@scotthardie5141 probably because of the new trilogy itself, the terrible handling of older characters and nostalgia bait, the mediocre at best attractions/land, Solo, the implement and propaganda of political ideologies from actors and staff, etc. Not to say Disney hasn’t done good things like Rogue One, Mandalorian, Clone Wars S7, and Bad Batch, but they’ve had more losses than wins.
Star Tours is amazing though, and at the time of opening, was one of the most unique attractions ever
You're Passion and Enthusiasm always excite and inspire me Offhand. Keep up the Amazing work Brother
The best firework show was Disneyland's 50th. The audio roundtrip around Disneyland was amazing!
In my opinion Disney's biggest mistake is running a Human Trafficking operation out of Orlando.
Maybe I was the weird kid but I really miss the remote control trash cans you could interact with. Bring ‘em back
I’ll never forgive Disney for replacing my favorite ride in Epcot, Horizons, with that Giant Space Laundry Machine! 🤮
Yay! So excited dallin has a new video! Best Saturday EVER!
The biggest Disney Fail = Bob Paycheck.
Disney's biggest failure was not promoting Jeffrey Katzenberg following the death of Frank Wells, causing him to leave the company and help found DreamWorks. This single mistake led to most of the problems with the Eisner-era, as it meant Eisner had lost most of his allies and his primary support network
Edit: also this one is more of a personal opinion but the current bride in the haunted mansion is also a very big mistake
Reopen the fort on Tom Sawyer Island and Tom Sawyer's treehouse, also on the Island. They were great for little to mid-sized kids....
Another great effort here and I really enjoyed it
Loved the editing on this one
I would have LOVED to ride into Journey into Imagination
Todrick Hall confirmed Magic Happens should be returning in 2023. That was the last thing he was told.
I agree 100% on Horizons and California Adventure…. But I would add taking out Great movie ride and replacing it with Mickeys train wreak and only putting in new rides based on intellectual property in the parks ….. especially Epcot…. I like it when Epcot had educational rides.
THANK GOD "Happily Ever After" has returned. Brilliant, powerful, and entertaining. Disney at its best.
i remember getting to hollywood studios at 6am one morning to get a boarding pass #80. so we woke at at 4:30 and got to ride around 6:30 pm or later due to the ride going down. also after we got the pass, we headed to slinky dog and it was pouring rain and still dark out. we had a fun day overall but we sat inside some star wars restaurant for over 3 hours waiting for this damn boarding pass
I agree with most of your list. I really only have experience with WDW, but my list would be:
Unfortunately, since Joe is retired now and he's the Imaganeer who was in charge of the Yeti. I don't think that's going to happen
@@nimblehealer199 that makes it even more of a problem imo
@10:25 is that Adam the Woo? BTW, always love watching your videos. Thank you for the enjoyable distraction. :)
I’m sorry they have lost the vision of a permanent world fair
The original Imagination was so much better with Dream Finder.
When we had our family trip to disneyland, we got a seat up high for the Aladdin one and it was the first time I got to understand how things work. The visual effects work much better when you don’t have a birds eye view
Watching this a year later.. I’m so glad they brought back happily ever after.

What about Yesterworld?
@@Joegargalini Love yesterworld. But he's disappeared lately and hasn't done much disney history stuff
Much prefer theme park history
I have a fail, when disney removed Toon Town and replaced it with a circus area at the Magic Kingdom.
I agree.
It was a uniquely thrilling attraction without all the risks that high-speed rides have.
Have you done a video about how the music of Epcot is totally new :(
Ever since I watched Defunctland's vid on Journey Into Imagination, I have _mourned_ its loss and replacements.
The entire post should be Bob Chapeck.
Literally nothing is better than Eisner’s attempt at the “EuroDisney officialement OoUvErRt” and I’m so bummed you had the English at the beginning and not that 😂
Bob chapek doing the worst Disney ceo speedrun any %
I used to go to the Aladdin show all the time. I’m not the biggest fan on stage shows but I truly loved Aladdin at the Hyperion.
Disney World has so much space that they should never have to close a ride. Disney World should just keep getting bigger
You know how Disney reuses animatronics as well as face molds? I wonder if Dream finder’s body or face lives on anywhere else?
You forgot about how they removed the Great Movie Ride. That has to be, in my opinion, the worst decision Disney World has ever made
That one still breaks my heart. It was the perfect ride for that park. It had a lot of charm and was great about at making people get a feel for and love a lot of great classic films. It was also kind of a cute time capsule of the opening of that particular park.
