So I really freaked myself out with the whole gel nail allergy lol but honestly, Im still scared to have it happen to me so Im not sure what exactly I want to do just yet. This glue has been holding tight so far which Im kinda surprised by! If anyone has any tips let me know please :)

I have my nail license and the gel allergy is when your application isn’t the best. The allergy happens when the gel polish has contact with your skin. That’s why it’s very important that you don’t get the gel polish onto your skin and very important that you clean it off right away. If the gel polish is curing, and you have it on your skin. It will make your skin around your nails, very itchy and irritated
Gel glue and gel polish right? If someone has a gel allergy, can they use the gel tips still?
What if your nails are thin? Is it possible to have the extend gel sink inside and cause an allergy that way? I know I was cut a few times while getting my nails done and that’s when I developed the allergy.
I just want to say THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for this video! I’ve been doing my own nails for years (w/ builder gel and gel polish), and I’m one of those ‘lucky’ ones that developed a gel allergy. It’s been driving me crazy not having my nails look how I want, and I was contemplating putting these tips on with regular glue but wasn’t sure how well they would hold up. Then I found your video and it was so helpful! And I have to say, your nails always come out gorgeous!!
I've gone through a long journey with gel nail product allergies after having some bad reactions, myself. Firstly (and as a TL;DR), I will say that I learned a lot from "The Nail Hub" here on UA-cam - she has a few videos about how gel works, curing, proper lights, HEMA, and loads more, they are designed for beginner nail techs (and more recently for laypersons) so they are very science-driven and appealing to someone like myself, you might like them as well. I'll try to keep my findings short - HEMA is a strong irritant, but it's not the only one, so avoiding only HEMA may not help you. The key is to avoid getting UNCURED product against your skin for an extended period of time, so the problem comes in when people slop it into their sidewalls and cuticles and don't correct it (your careful application would avoid this), and (the big one) they do not CURE correctly, leaving uncured product under the cured layer that seeps into the nail bed and causes reactions. Most gel is made with resins that require UV/LED curing and that will release heat as they cure, which can cause "heat spikes" and so sometimes people stop curing because they jerk their hand out and don't keep curing because they see the top is hard to the touch and figure it's done. Maybe the first few times your body fights off any irritation, but after a while it can't send enough healing to the site and you have contact dermatitis as a result. FYI, acrylics can cause similar allergies - the ingredients in monomer is used in products like hybrid gel. The formulation matters as much as the ingredients, so it's hard for a layperson to know what's foolproof or not, so I have decided to focus on upping my application, sticking with ultra-thin layers and taking my time. You seem very careful which is probably why you've used products for a long time without having any issues. Also, I have used the "nail glue" that gets included with a lot of full-cover tip sets (which is not an actual "glue" but a base coat formulation that will cure under transparent tips) with no issues, as well. I haven't had good luck with using air-dry liquid glue for press-ons due to my thin nail beds.

It’s so weird. I used to do my own acrylic, gel, and nail glue press on nails my self with no issues and literally no reactions. Then when I got a job, I started going to the shops and getting dip. Fav nail option but that’s exactly when my allergies started. And ever since then I’ve been allergic to all acrylic and nail glue. But gel doesn’t bother me. I want nail extensions so this really sucks! I would prefer the dip because it was easy and quick and left my nails stronger than even acrylic (I think it’s the same products either way) but it’s not worth the allergic reaction. My nails almost separated from my nail bed. It was so bad 😅
It’s insane how I did a better job than the shops (if application is the issue) when doing my own nails I NEVER had a reaction. And I did EVERYTHING. Sucksssss

Sweetheart it is better you stopped using it because allergies can pop up at ANY TIME EVEN with stuff you have used/eaten YOUR WHOLE LIFE. I gained an apple allergy in 2007 I was 21 and LOVED apple Anything Now I have to avoid it like the plague because just being in the same Building several floors and on the opposite side will send me into anaphylaxis, I carry 2 epipens EVERYWHERE. And since then I have gained Even More Allergies to medications I have taken before MANY Times like Penicillin. And the scary thing about Allergies and allergic reactions is that the first reaction might just be some mild itching Or it can feel like Needles Piercing the contact area ( that happened with pineapple 😢 my poor poor mouth) or you can jump straight to anaphylaxis ( throat closing I can't breathe, rash, itchy horribleness). The next interaction could go straight to anaphylaxis Even if you had only a mild reaction the first time. If you have seasonal allergies get tested find out what you are allergic to because there are food allergies that link up with seasonal allergies. My apple allergy is from a VERY Severe Birch tree allergy which means I cannot enjoy birch beer anymore 😢, but along with apples I cannot have pears or Quinces 😢. And I have to READ EVERYTHING I ingest because apples are snuck into EVERYTHING, "Natural Flavors", and "apple cider vinegar" are the 2 that get me the most. But yeah Allergies are No Joke, I think your spirit Guides and Guardian Angels were raising the alarm which made you panic because that was almost your fate. Those warning bells we hear in our heart and soul when we watch or read something that is cautionary is our spirit Guardians yelling, screaming and ringing bells hoping we take notice and pay attention. Sometimes we do, and sometimes we don't then we have to deal with the consequences.😅 Sorry for the novel, it wouldn't be so bad if we were face to face😂.
That beetles gel glue has ruined my hands and nails. They will not heal and now are allergic to everything. I never had nail or hand issues and used beetles all the time. It just happened out of nowhere even though I am very careful with my application and don’t get it on my skin. My hands are so dry no matter how much moisturizer I use that they crack and I have deep cuts all over my hands they hurt so bad and will not heal. This has been going on for like 2 months now since I used the glue and immediately took them off once they started burning and blistering.
noooo , i cannot use those gel tips even if cured by uv that is not true. u still get really bad reaction if allergic to gel!
i would say put a mirror under your lamp it seems like its not curing strong enough and also if you can file off your gel instead of soaking in acetone which causes your nails to be weak
aimeli still gave me a reaction 😢 nail glue has CRYLATES too so you can still break out . I just tried this a few days ago .. nothing touched my skin but I still got a rash and blisters on my cuticles 😭
I used beetles gel polish and gel builder from that brand off of amazon and I have blisters and itchy burning sensation now. I know it's the beetles brand and maybe any other gel brands that can cause it. Im scared because I wanted to try poly gel but I dont know if that will cause it too???

I have the same problems I belive it is since I had covid I done nails for years and it just come from no were the best thing to do is use glitter bells polish I am waiting on my glitter bell gel and if I don't get a reaction I will let u no I got rid of all my nail stuff so I'm starting from scratch 😢❤xx
Hi, i have a question, i use gel base coat instead of gel nail glue (gel x method) , and it worked , so my question is does water goes under the nail while we take a shower? Or while our hands are under water for long period of time? Like when i did my nails firs there was no air bubbles but after i shower is see a little gaps I don’t know if this is air bubble that i did not notice or water???
Well I’m not sure about “gel x” but a base coat isn’t glue, I think you would still need to apply a gel glue on top of your base coat. But if any part of the edge is not secure water can def get in there. 🤔
I’m not sure a base coat is strong enough or you should try using the glue. I’ve never just used a base coat for glue 🫤
