So many people have asked me to try these out so I’m finally doing it! I just thought about this right now, these can’t be filled 🤔 so I would need to do a new set everytime? And also I can’t change the color either right? Overall so far I am really liking these and I can see myself using them again! Here are some pros and cons of these Pros: Faster than acrylic Easier removal/ better for your nail No harsh smells No shaping needed No filing/sanding down needed Cons: Can’t fill them/will need a new set everytime Nail tips being too big for MY nails (personal problem because my nail beds are small) Can’t change color
So I’ve been doing these full cover for a while and I refill mine with builder gel (apres soft gel specifically) and I changed my color 4 times in the last 3 weeks I just sand it off with my drill I use gel polish also. I’d be happy to answer questions
You actually can refill them with either builder gel or hard gel there are lots of tutorials on UA-cam to show you how. And you can change the color like you would any other set just file off the color, then put a thin layer of builder gel or hard gel to restrengthen it and then put your next color on
I will say as someone who does nails for a living! put a thin layer of the gel glue on the nail and a small puddle at the base of the gel x tip, cure under little lamp for about 15s then go under a big nail/gel lamp for a full minute! I have clients who come in every 4-5 weeks with no breaks or nails popping off! The best way I have found to do gel x. And btw you first ever gel x set look really good at the end better than some salon work i've seen LOL!😆🤣
Also, I prefer to place mine slightly away from the cuticle. I lightly efile and add a little builder gel for an apex. Yours look great. Thanks for the advice on pressing lightly! Otherwise it cures the glue to look strange underneath
I have a love/hate relationship with gel-x nails. Prep takes a while for someone who doesn't fit the standard tip sizes, to start. Also, as you mentioned in your video, the tips add a bulkiness to your nails if you don't file them thinner. I've also had issues where there were spaces between my natural nail and the tip and I had issues with my hair getting stuck in it during wash days. The end result tends to be amazing and the hold is pretty strong but after the lengthy time of applying it and removing it I get incredibly turned off by the thought of wanting to regularly use them. May I add that the point of gel-x is to use tips made of cured gel, not plastic tips. so some of these kits found online are not selling actual "gel-x". The gel tip is supposed to give a more natural look, provide flexible bend so that the tip doesn't crack and be easier to remove.
I agree it was a lil annoying having to fit them to my nail but then again when I do acrylics it can also be annoying trying to get the right amount of acrylic then having to sand them down perfectly which takes me time so I think there equally annoying about both types of nails lol 😩 Yeah idk much about the different brands or what they are made of, I was wondering why this box didn’t say gel x on it but I don’t know I had to remove the one and it came off like easy like a gel product so I wonder if they are? 🤔
If you have issues with space between your natural nail and the tip then I recommend using Gelike soft gel tips on Amazon. They fit me better than the beetles tips and had no issue with spacing.
Once you get the hang of putting the nails on it’s definitely going to be a lot better 😂 the first time I did gel-x , putting them on tool like and hour + now I need like 10 mins total for both hands 🙌🏼
Kiara Sky has small ones. I have really small hands and nail beds also. It’s common for people to reshape the edge that lays at the cuticle. Use 90% or higher alcohol. Kiara Sky also has all 4 steps from prep to top coat. Which includes the builder gel to do fills if you desire. Or soak them off and reapply new ones if you prefer.
I recently started using these too. Acrylic seems to always lift two specific fingers, no matter what prep I do, or salons do. I've had nail techs who have done nails for over 10 years with own busy salon do them, acrylic ALWAYS lifts after 2 weeks for me. These stayed put for almost 4 weeks. I'm heavy handed, so I broke one, only the tip. But I took them off because of that. With the right prep, these stay put! I even got one of my clients convinced to change to these. She loves them too.
I love doing gel nails, it’s been a year I’ve been doing my own. So much better then acrylic. I would say don’t cut your natural nail to short and don’t go all the way back to the cuticle, just fill in with builder gel. And these can be filled also with builder gel. I usually fill once and I get about a month and 1/2 with one set.
These was a game changer for me. I’m really ruff with my hands and my nails done by a professional doesn’t last nothing but a few days and I have to get them done every week. No if I do them at home maybe just a day or 2. I just did a set yesterday and I have been bang hitting and doing everything I can to my nail and when say this was a game charge me.🎉 🙌🙌🙌. The only thing you have to do is make there is no bubbles. You will be done in 10 minutes because you have hold each finger nail. So far they have lasted about 3 day. That is with me doing them on my own.
You completely made me try my gel nails again. It's such a learning curve and can be annoying. I did them last night with your tips and they look cute. Thank you for the help.♥️😊
😱 I think it has a lot to do with prepping them right. Mine still feel really strong like acrylics and I’ve been in the pool with my daughter everyday, washing dishes etc! I think the only annoying part is getting the right shape around the cuticle. I’m going to try to look and see if they sell smaller tips for like small hands lol but still even with having to shape them I think it’s faster than having to shape/file acrylics!
@@cflowermakeup oh absolutely! I think buffing the tips and your nails a bit helps the gel hold stronger. They are definitely easier to do than acrylic. ☺️ Yes! Sizing matters too or else I think they won't adhere. The ones I use are the gel x apres. They have a variety of sizes and tools. 😊
Wait so basically these are regular nails you just basically glue and add polish? That’s what it looks like or very similar to it correct me if I’m wrong
@@shaecharmz2393 Yes and no. So gel polish (resin) hardens under UV light. When paired with gel nail tips, they able to adhere to your nails and last about 2 weeks or more if well done. They're easy to remove with acetone and they have become wildly popular because of how quickly it can be done with practice and a lot of patience. 🙂 I hope that answered your question. 😊
If you use bottle builder gel to apply them it’s easier because it’s thicker .. also you have to let a little bit pool at the cuticle edge when painting it on the fake nail (to have enough if that makes sense)Michelle khan has good tutorial on this
You don't actually place the tip against your cuticle because it makes it look fake. Move it down the nail just a little bit so you can blend it into the nail and it looks natural. But it's all up to you. If your hands are in water a lot you probably found they don't last as long.
Has your natural nails get very flimsy and very weak after doing gel x for a while? I had to take a 3 to 4 month break for my nails to get stronger before doing this process again.
Thank you for replying, I do remove them the correct way but they always do get very weak. And your correct if your hands are in water a lot they don’t last long, gloves are used at all times.
I’ve been using gelx nails on myself for the last 4 months and the brand of tips matter. I use Aprés only and they are so good! They even have extra small for people with small nail beds. It gives a nice finish and it looks more like acrylic than a press on. I think you would like the Aprés tips more.
0:54 killed me! Like no no no, gel-x is NOTHING like press ons!! I can't do those either girlie. I'm so hard on my nails, and due to Thanksgiving, my dog destroying the bathroom, and etc., I've been putting my hands under water WAYYYYY more than I want to, and my BTArtbox gel-x nails are all still on, no pop offs, and its been two weeks!
I Love this method, specially when you need to do you nails fast lol but it has been my go to lately since I have been busier. I have been doing them for a while now and I found that the Solid Nail Tip Glue works so much better, and you can get them just about everywhere now. The Solid Nail glue is thick, and you can scrap a lil bit out of the jar, and the best way I can describe it is like puddy lol but it doesn't cure until you put it in the lamp. It helps because when you press the full cover tip down it has suction too the nail because it's thick, so you can let it go and make sure the nail is straight and you get lil to no air bubbles. I use clear for the most part, but I do have a pink solid gel glue, so it makes my French tips a lot easier & faster! Finding this glue has changed doing gel x nails, I didn't as much before cause I made too much of a mess with the base gel, always got bubbles or a nail was crooked, lol there was always something wrong, and now I have no problems and love doing this more cause it saves time doing my own nails, so I have more time with my practice hand trying to get my speed faster at full acrylic sets!! I hope this helps someone who is struggling like I was!
@@shellyaubrey7048 I get a lot of my products from AliExpress but you can also find it on Amazon. If you never shopped on AliExpress it’s based out of China so anything you buy can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months, but the prices of their products are amazing! I use the Born Pretty solid gel & Kodi’s. I also get my full cover nail tips and regular nail tips from there also they have so many to choose from, and the full cover tips are made of soft gel so they are a bit sturdier.
OMG thank you for this video! I'm on my second set of tips from the BTArtbox brand, and first time most definitely I was pressing mine on too hard too... bubbles everywhere, no wonder they started popping off the next day 🥴😅 I think I wasn't applying enough glue either. I've seen other videos where they scrape the extra glue on the end, which I did the second time and I think that helped, but the next set I do I will definitely take my time applying them! I was searching specifically for this tip because I couldn't figure out WHY I was having air bubbles (even on my current set I can see some air bubbles under the nail!!!) so thank you for this video, it was VERY helpful!!!!
Try putting the start of the extension down from the cuticle. You need to have a little gap and file down a bit if there is a harsh end near the cuticle, so when they grow out you don't see that harsh end and it doesn't stick in your hair😅
I use the gellen system from amazon. I have tiny nail beds and use the long almond shape nail. I've had zero issues. The last 2 weeks every time. It's so easy and fun. I do my daughter's nails, too. She likes long stiletto. They're amazing.
This is a great video for learning. There is a learning curve but after one mess up once, it gets better from there. Gel x nail application is very therapeutic. Another step that was missed…. You should use a dehydrator and a nail primer on both your natural nail and the nail itself.
If you do them well, they can last for almost 2 weeks! Make sure you dont wet your hands for a while afterwards. Like at least and hour or so. I love them!
These came out so good you did a really good job. I am going to grab this kit and try them out for myself. I love the color that you chose I love the natural look and I love these nails!
I really hate when people say they hate press ons because they just pop off!! They can last 3 weeks! You have to prep your nails first and use a drop of glue. Don't use tabs that come with or already on the press on, they only work a few days
After 2.5 weeks I already have a large outgrowth. Do you also have a video on how to update these nails? Or do you delete them? How do you get these removed without hurting or damaging your own nails?
Yes you can fill them! I have a video on my channel, it’s only like $8 I think. Also the removal, I’m not sure how everyone else does it but I baought this gel remover for like $7 and you just paint it on and wait then scrape them off. I have it link on my Amazon page (I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s in a blue bottle white top)
Just ordered my nail lamp today and I'm here to find what else you buy from Amazon. I have not done my nails in so long but dream of having long nails. My kids will have to deal with the scratching 😅 thanks for sharing!
Do you have to use gel nail polish on these? Also do u need to put gel nail polish under the lamp if you do? What’s the pros and cons of gel polish versus regular
I have a problem with nails too, but my natural nail bed has a definite c curve from side to side. So either I go a few sizes larger and bend the nail length wise or file them down. 😢
Please try the nails from the king of nail’s himself ☺️ nails from enailcouture. The best gel nails. Can be applied with glue, with gel, with acrylic. He have soooooooo many styles to choose from and they can be filled. Give them a try. Hugs from Germany 💕
You've got the same issue with the size o your nail beds a I do. Mine are tiny, my thumb starts at a 4 and my pinky is just over 0.5mm! Took me ages to find tips to fit me without having to buy kids nails!
I never understand when girls say press ons don’t last.mines last up to 20 days and that’s because I take ‘em off because I want a new set.You did a good job doing your own nails overall tho 👍🏻
They can be filled I seen it on UA-cam idk if that's something you'd try but when they grow out and looks like you need a fill. You just simply take the polish or w.e you have on your nails. Then you get your e file and start at your cuticles touch that up. And then your gonna grab your convertion gel and fill it in at your cuticles and work your way down the tip drag all the gel down to the tip starting at your cuticles. And then obviously cure it
love this video, it was super helpful for my own application. may i ask what the name of the nude polish was? link in description doesnt work for me sadly
@@justmy2cents208 Mine last till I am ready to take them off and even then it takes some effort. I put a gel base on first and then 2 coats of peel base (have only used UNT from Amazon). That is with dip over the top. When I did it with gel polish I could see peeling the next day and on natural nails the polish came off when I went swimming so as u can see I am still experimenting to see what works best for me.
@@justmy2cents208 I actually do the tips first because I will fill them a few times and then I do the gel base, gel top, etc…. There are a ton of you tube videos on how to use them over tips. I have not tried it under tips but I may have too. I will be researching that now. Lol.
OMG my nail bed is so narrow and tiny too. They used to always pull out the tiny nail tips for me when I got acrylic nails done. LOL And every time they would say your nails are so tiny. 😂
I know this video is 1 year old but for those who dont know or a new with gel x if you are having fitting issues or when its growing out it doesnt look good glue the nail midway on your natural nail cure file/buff then apply builder gel to blend in the fake nail down to your cuticle also when using an electric file holding it at a degree near your cuticle as you move up your nail keep the file flat the bottom of the file is for your cuticle only use the middle of it for the rest of your nail laying flat as you go up to prevent damaging your nail bed
Maybe it’s something your doing wrong cause my press ons stay on up to 3 weeks if I prep right and not putting your hands in water for at least an hour also really helps as it gives the glue good time to really dry and you’ll know when its dried good cause they’ll feel tight like their squeezing your nail bed and when that happens my nails do not pop off, I don’t have the patience for acrylic so for me it’s press ons gel x or dip powder, faster/easier
I need a video of what I can use if I don't have primer or dehydrator, only because it's a problem for myself and others and I've worded it everyway in the search bar "but" nope ZERO VIDEO'S SO YOU ALL VIDEO PEOPLE PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF WHAT ELSE WE CAN USE.... THANKS.❤
I would recommend using Apres Gel X nails and system. They come in a 00 size, up to 10. They are also wayyyy better quality. You do have to change them out each time, but after wearing them for almost 2 years, I would much rather use Gel X nails over acrylic!!! Try Apres.
are you buffing your nails? (natural and inside of tip), it creates much better retention. and make sure not to wash your hands with soap in the middle of doing your nails as it adds oils (or so i’ve heard), adding a thin layer of gel to the nail as well before applying tips has been pretty good for my friend and i, we went from our nails lasting a week, to 3 weeks (primer and bonder etc too). (but the cuticle area is also has big impact
I’ve done 3 set now using the uv gel glue and I love it. I work hotel housekeeping, so press on don’t last for me but I find using the UV glue I can get 2 to 3 weeks out of a set as long as they’re not too long I find when they are longer they pop off easier and that’s when I’m trying to pull the fitted sheets over the corners of the mattress if they’re too long, they pop up and it hurts like a bitch
Finally found someone who has similar nail beds as me tiny and narrow 😂💔every time they do them for me its bulky and looks so fake i’d rather grow my natural nails and polish em
Are you able to buff the cuticle area of the nail? I find once they grow out, the ends were never buffed and my hair gets caught under and it’s icky- anyone have advice?
I literally didn’t think about this until today when I was posting the video. Lol kinda hit me like wait, I can’t change the color at all if I wanted to 😂 But once I get the hang of putting them on I feel like these can be really fast to out them on and that helps me a lot! So I’ll just have to stick with a color for a lil while lol Def need to buy extra tips because I can see going through these pretty fast!
So many people have asked me to try these out so I’m finally doing it! I just thought about this right now, these can’t be filled 🤔 so I would need to do a new set everytime? And also I can’t change the color either right?

These came out so good you did a really good job. I am going to grab this kit and try them out for myself. I love the color that you chose I love the natural look and I love these nails!
Thank you! I made every mistake that you mentioned 😂 I’m gonna try again❤
mine last up to 4 weeks and I use my hands heavily for my work
What's the gel color I love it ❤❤
I really hate when people say they hate press ons because they just pop off!! They can last 3 weeks! You have to prep your nails first and use a drop of glue. Don't use tabs that come with or already on the press on, they only work a few days
Beetles and Saviland are my go too. The only thing is, is I wish the polish came in 14.5 ml !!
How many layers of the coloured gel
Polish did you do? I love it 😍
What color polish are you using. I LOVE IT! ❤
I love them! You did a great job
Your phone screen analogy 👏🏽👏🏽
After 2.5 weeks I already have a large outgrowth.
Do you also have a video on how to update these nails?
Or do you delete them?
How do you get these removed without hurting or damaging your own nails?
Yes you can fill them! I have a video on my channel, it’s only like $8 I think. Also the removal, I’m not sure how everyone else does it but I baought this gel remover for like $7 and you just paint it on and wait then scrape them off. I have it link on my Amazon page (I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s in a blue bottle white top)
How you're glueing these I suspect is my issue with these so thank you! Will try later tonight
Just ordered my nail lamp today and I'm here to find what else you buy from Amazon. I have not done my nails in so long but dream of having long nails. My kids will have to deal with the scratching 😅 thanks for sharing!
How did it go?
Do you have to use gel nail polish on these? Also do u need to put gel nail polish under the lamp if you do? What’s the pros and cons of gel polish versus regular
What color is the nail polish or brand
These are all such helpful tips! Thank you!
I accidently bought acrylic clear fake nails for doing GEL X. Does it matter or should I buy GEL X clear fake nails?
I have a problem with nails too, but my natural nail bed has a definite c curve from side to side. So either I go a few sizes larger and bend the nail length wise or file them down. 😢
Please try the nails from the king of nail’s himself ☺️ nails from enailcouture. The best gel nails. Can be applied with glue, with gel, with acrylic. He have soooooooo many styles to choose from and they can be filled. Give them a try. Hugs from Germany 💕
😱 I have never heard or seen any of these! Do you have a link?
I use his nails too!
Ytryuuyyu I have to do it for a week or next week to be in error we are looking forward for a while ago but if you juririirurr
You've got the same issue with the size o your nail beds a I do. Mine are tiny, my thumb starts at a 4 and my pinky is just over 0.5mm! Took me ages to find tips to fit me without having to buy kids nails!
What polish ???
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips for troubleshooting 🙏🙏
What nail polish are you using?? And what color??
You can plug it into a charger box and plug into the wall
Leaving your natural nail longer also protects your skin from gel spillage
You could use a peel base before you apply the gel polish and then you wouldn't have to soak them off
How long do the nails last that way?
@@justmy2cents208 Mine last till I am ready to take them off and even then it takes some effort. I put a gel base on first and then 2 coats of peel base (have only used UNT from Amazon). That is with dip over the top. When I did it with gel polish I could see peeling the next day and on natural nails the polish came off when I went swimming so as u can see I am still experimenting to see what works best for me.
@@barbboran4567 so you do gel base, 2 peel base, full cover nail, then dip powder? I couldn't tell if you were using nail tips or not
@@justmy2cents208 I actually do the tips first because I will fill them a few times and then I do the gel base, gel top, etc…. There are a ton of you tube videos on how to use them over tips. I have not tried it under tips but I may have too. I will be researching that now. Lol.
@@justmy2cents208 I just watched a video on how to remove the tips without having to soak by thischefdips I think her channel is called
Maybe it’s something your doing wrong cause my press ons stay on up to 3 weeks if I prep right and not putting your hands in water for at least an hour also really helps as it gives the glue good time to really dry and you’ll know when its dried good cause they’ll feel tight like their squeezing your nail bed and when that happens my nails do not pop off, I don’t have the patience for acrylic so for me it’s press ons gel x or dip powder, faster/easier
thank you for sharing your process
I need a video of what I can use if I don't have primer or dehydrator, only because it's a problem for myself and others and I've worded it everyway in the search bar "but" nope ZERO VIDEO'S SO YOU ALL VIDEO PEOPLE PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF WHAT ELSE WE CAN USE....
THANKS.❤
You can use 💯 acetone
I would recommend using Apres Gel X nails and system. They come in a 00 size, up to 10. They are also wayyyy better quality. You do have to change them out each time, but after wearing them for almost 2 years, I would much rather use Gel X nails over acrylic!!! Try Apres.
love! what color is that polish?
Loved this video 😊. Very informative
Thanks so much for this in depth video!!! Can’t wait to try and hopefully stop spending too much money in crappy acrylics! 😅
you did great!
I tried these and did my nail prep and used primer and the dehydrator and they still popped off after 3 days. Any tips on how to get them to last?
are you buffing your nails?
What nude polish did you use?
Cute!
I love the color
This was such a great video
Great informational video sis👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😍✨
What nail polish is that
They look great
How long do these nails last?
My nails are also VERY small! It's hard to buy fake nails online because everything was too big for me :/
How do you easily remove? Also can you not fill with builder gel?
Finally found someone who has similar nail beds as me tiny and narrow 😂💔every time they do them for me its bulky and looks so fake i’d rather grow my natural nails and polish em
I totally agree!!
My nail beds are exactly the same and it’s always so annoying 🫠 thought it was only me 😂
Can i use rubber base to attach the tips? How does that work?
What do u mean about the uv lamp? Dont u just put the end into a white cube than plug into the wall?
Szia köszönöm szépen videod.
What colour polish is this please?
• we have the same nail sizes , it's hard when i do designs because my nails are so small
What nail polish did you use😍😍😍
how did you take the cured nail off?
i usually apply base then glue should i know do that? I know im doing something wrong forsure because they fall off so fast :(
I never apply a base before the glue, i only apply a base coat when I fill them after 3 weeks with the builder gel. I never have any fall off ever 😯
Are you able to buff the cuticle area of the nail? I find once they grow out, the ends were never buffed and my hair gets caught under and it’s icky- anyone have advice?
LOVE THE COLOR! YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB!!
Super cute
I wonder if there is a way to change the color lol there should be! I just bought the same set now I can’t wait to try it & save me some $. 😁
I literally didn’t think about this until today when I was posting the video. Lol kinda hit me like wait, I can’t change the color at all if I wanted to 😂
But once I get the hang of putting them on I feel like these can be really fast to out them on and that helps me a lot! So I’ll just have to stick with a color for a lil while lol
Def need to buy extra tips because I can see going through these pretty fast!
Also, maybe if you use regular paint instead of gel then you can change the color 🤔 lol
@@cflowermakeup Your nail videos are my fav ! There are videos here on yt on how to infill with gel 😊
@@yadileyva23 thank you so much!!! Omg really?! I need to look it up then! Haha 😱
E- file off the old color and repaint
