How did these crayons even get past the testing during development, let alone last for tens of years on the market?! But you did a great job anyway! Very cute characters!
These were designed to shut up a child whining at the dollar store, not to actually be used. So they were engineered to perfection in order to cut costs and be unusable.
hey kasey! if i identified it correctly, that 'red spider thing' is a chigger. while non-venomous, they can crawl up your clothes and leave tens if not hundreds of incredibly itchy bites. it would be best if you got rid of that little bugger
Also! Common myth about the red mite/chigger is that the bumps they leave behind have eggs in them, so the bumps need to be cut open to make sure the eggs don't survive. NOT TRUE! They're just bumps, no need to incur further wounds :)
This reminds me of when you tell people you like art, so for your birthday they get you something like this and you try to act nice about it but the supplies are really cheap. Its worse than not getting anything because i hate pretending i like things to make people happy
I never had crayons like this when I was a kid, but I did have pencils like that. Yes, it was a normal pencil, not even a colored pencil lol. Basically it was the same concept as this crayon where you had the little capsule things that had the graphite in them, and then after you used up the first one you'd remove it from the top of the stack and have a new, sharp piece of graphite underneath. They were pretty cool back when I was a kid, but tbh they weren't nearly as good as a normal mechanical pencil.
I had one too! It had dolphins on it and a translucent plastic outer layer so you could see the 'layers'. I ended up losing one of the pencil stacker bits and could never use it again! Super awful design.
Omg my nan and pop used to have so many of these! I miss them!! But god forbid you loose one of the graphite capsules and the whole thing no longer functions 😂
I remember going to a summer camp and they had us fill out a survey asking about our experience and they gave us one of these. It was like pretty much impossible to fit the answers in the provided space on the sheet
8:05 this is a real problem in our society and no one talks about it. finally someone understands me drawing something with a crappy art supply does NOT make it look like a kid made it. drawing something simple and cute does NOT make it look like a kid made it. not even drawing stickmen makes it look like a kid made it. the only thing that really does make it look like a kid drew it is lack of art knowledge and motor skills. if you draw perfectly straight stickmen with perfectly circle heads and perfectly proportionate faces it will NOT LOOK LIKE A KID DREW IT. NOT EVEN MOST ADULTS DRAW LIKE THIS WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE FOOLING?!!!
Honestly it shouldn't be that hard to just... GET A KID to draw the KID DRAWING. Even nepotism would be acceptable in this case... get the director's 3 year old to do a little scribble. You don't have to pay the toddler so they're not taking any jobs by being unqualified. Literally just find a child to do the child drawing
I never had crayons like this but I had erasers that stacked. They were held in a tube and each one pushed the next out, rather than solely being held together by their connected.
I love the gummy mouthed aligator. I had a 'pencil crayon' like this as a kid that was similarly so bad that I never used it but I always pulled it out in class to line up with my real crayons just so other kids could see how cool I was (I was not cool).
I can't get over how well you just draw little guys. The alligator actually ended up being my least favorite, but only because I love :T rabbit and side-eye bird that much more.
Hullo Kasey, I have admired your style for many years now. You capture the essence of your characters in every medium. That said I do not believe that you succeeded in this particular video. Sometimes you simply have to switch to another tool or in this case just switch to a different crayon! I was so impressed with so many of your creations during your year of the crayon videos! I implore you to consider that perhaps your croc even the bunny need to be given another chance. I am thinking back to those crayon drawings and I believe that most were just fine, yet several times I thought “Oh if Kasey had just chosen watercolor” or any of your other preferred mediums and re-created the characters or scenes, I believe that you might have made a breakout character or idea challenging the Ants or Catcus ideas for supremacy in your pantheon of OC’s! I often think about Hatch and how they are doing in the backseat of your creative mind? Thank you for sharing these horrible stacking crayons. I will never waste my money on them! I guess that is the kindest thing I can say/type. Please take care, be safe and enjoy your day!
Oh my gosh I have one of these stacked crayons except they're shaped like stars!! They are also quite scratchy but I like the novelty of stacking star shaped crayons 😂
The characters are unbelievably cute! My fave is the 🐦. But those crayons shouldn’t even have made it to the market. I feel so sorry for any children having to use these. What if they discourage some of the next generation of potentially stellar artists? Ugh.
Wow, I totally agree with you on this! It’s so frustrating when you invest in art supplies that end up being a disappointment. Thanks for sharing your experience and saving us from making the same mistake. Your honesty and detailed review are much appreciated!
I remember the pencil ones, having to keep switching between them to find the most sharp ones because they all became super dull and there was no way to sharpen them, and after a while because of the constant use they would lose their grip and fall apart 😭 A really fun concept and I did like them to some extent but dang they sucked for everyday use haha
I used to watch your videos a lot but never subscribed. Later I got busy and stopped seeing your videos in my recommendations. I even didn't remember the name. I just knew "the girl who hated purple". Looked for it and found you again. Subscribed and pressed the bell icon.
It used to irritate me to no end about how much residue would be left over no matter how much or how little pressure you put on them. Those crayons were worse than RoseArt crayons!
I’ve had a lot of issues with cheap pink crayons - pink (and sometimes light blue) seem to be the biggest problem colors if the whole set is cheap, at least in my experience. Maybe something about how it’s made lighter during production? All this to say, that first pink being awful immediately in the swatch doesn’t surprise me at all.
Ok, this is gonna seem cheesy but i want to say, thank you :) I started watching your videos many years ago and loved them! I would always try to draw like you, and honestly if i didn't come across your channel i would have never started drawing and experimenting with stylization and shape. If younger me looked at myself now they would have died of shock from how i have improved. So, i just wanted to say, thank you, for starting my art journey and inspiring me to try
I've had a stackable pencil and it was actually used, cause it's kinda hard to go wrong with it, worst case it'll feel bad while being really hard. But yeah, mostly it was a fidget toy that teacher would allow in class
Huh. I don't think I've ever seen stackable anything other than erasers and mini highlighters. The erasers were a mixed bag, some stacks were great, some just broke. The highlighters though?? Perfect, always juicy, sometimes they smelled nice too!
Please make merch with the alligator!! It’d look like that fancy preppy brand (🐊Lacoste?) but way cooler. 10/10 would wear a polo or sweatshirt with the lil guy on the chest
Unfortunately I don’t know these BUT I used to stack Crayola markers all the time and I remember those little stackable squares and I would pretend they were lightsabers lol
I bought some of those cheap crayons a couple months ago. Theyre terrible but cute. I didnt get black either but got yellow in mine. and those tiny red spiders, we call them piss ants in Kentucky. In summer they're all over the concrete that most ppl dont see. 😳 (10 days later and realized kaseys has yellow too. I'm a dumbass😂
Hearing privileged people say, "You get what you pay for," is my pet peeve. Crayola Crayons are literally $0.50 at Walmart right now. If you're struggling financially, there's often a quality yet affordable option. You may have to look harder, but don't be fooled into believing that spending more on a product means it's better quality.
My pet peeve is people overusing the word "privileged". Also you clearly have a fundamental misunderstanding of what that saying actually means; it doesn't mean that everything that's affordable or cheap is bad or low quality, it just means that if something is cheap you can USUALLY (but not always) expect for that thing to be slightly lower quality because cheaper items tend to be more affordable because they're made from lower quality materials or the manufacturer cuts costs and saves money during the manufacturing process. Obviously there are plenty of exceptions to this, and there are plenty of cheap items that are excellent quality as well as expensive items that are horrible quality, but generally you can expect cheap items to be just a bit worse than similar items of a higher price point. There's clearly more nuance there than what the saying would suggest, but that same nuance seems to be a bit lost on you as well; you just seemed to be more focused on your little mini rant about "privileged people" to notice it.
The one I had were in like a plastic tube, so you would push the next one up when putting the other one in the bottom (great phrasing 👀) so no stacking issues there but if you lose one all is lost 🥲
How did these crayons even get past the testing during development, let alone last for tens of years on the market?! But you did a great job anyway! Very cute characters!
bold of you to assume a 1 dollar crayon toy that's been replicated and sold for decades has gone thru any testing X)
Jokes on you, those crayons have been sitting on the shelves FOR 10 years 😂
These were designed to shut up a child whining at the dollar store, not to actually be used. So they were engineered to perfection in order to cut costs and be unusable.
@@AoeutHahaha I believe it!
I've had these and they aren't that bad!!!!!
i need justice for these characters, i hope they get a future redraw with some different supplies lol
I was literally thinking the exact same thing
Yes!
And i would love a sticker of that alligator friend🥰
hey kasey! if i identified it correctly, that 'red spider thing' is a chigger. while non-venomous, they can crawl up your clothes and leave tens if not hundreds of incredibly itchy bites. it would be best if you got rid of that little bugger
Could also be a clover mite, hard to tell since it's just a dot on the screen, lol
Also! Common myth about the red mite/chigger is that the bumps they leave behind have eggs in them, so the bumps need to be cut open to make sure the eggs don't survive. NOT TRUE! They're just bumps, no need to incur further wounds :)
@@spam-el3eeawh man now i cant open the funny bites !!
@@Ka-BO0M baghahahah-😂
Apparently there’s multiple small red mites that are harmless
This reminds me of when you tell people you like art, so for your birthday they get you something like this and you try to act nice about it but the supplies are really cheap. Its worse than not getting anything because i hate pretending i like things to make people happy
These crayons were unworthy of these characters! Justice for these little guys

I had the same product, though mine were snowmen :)
I had one too! It had dolphins on it and a translucent plastic outer layer so you could see the 'layers'. I ended up losing one of the pencil stacker bits and could never use it again! Super awful design.
But they were useable!
Omg my nan and pop used to have so many of these! I miss them!! But god forbid you loose one of the graphite capsules and the whole thing no longer functions 😂
@@hollyjh3147same, I had a dolphin one too. I also lost several of the stackey bits
Aaah, this reminds me of 'mechanical pencils' that stack in this odd way. I remember a lot of them snapping, popping off and getting lost. Blurgh.
I remember going to a summer camp and they had us fill out a survey asking about our experience and they gave us one of these. It was like pretty much impossible to fit the answers in the provided space on the sheet

Me having this exact rant every time there's "children's" artwork hanging on the wall or fridge in a show or movie.
CHILDREN DON'T DRAW LIKE *THAT*!
Use your non dominant hand and squint to mimick children's drawing properly

If Lego decided to make something like this, the crayon would actually hold together.
God the way they scratched at the paper made me shudder, idk how you made it through using them all so kudos to you!!
I never had crayons like this but I had erasers that stacked. They were held in a tube and each one pushed the next out, rather than solely being held together by their connected.
My god you activated a childhood memory of mine now, i remember having one of these erasers too and i loved it 🥺
I have one now, and use it in the woodshop. They hold up 🙌

Daaaaamn, those are as bad as Rose Art crayons!
My little sister said if you look closely the rabbit looks like it’s skin is ripped off😖🤣
I paused the video and have been waiting 10 days for that update at 9:00. Is she gonna finish this or not? 😰
Right when Canadian walmart has 24 Crayola crayons for .98¢. Lol
(Back to school)

I drew a self portrait using one of these and it made marks and that’s all I care about 😂

My daughter had them they were terrible lol
I'm a firm believer of getting children good art supplies, but i think these are only for a 1 yr old doodling ,maybe try using them as watercolors🤔??
Definitely a choking hazard
Try to use them with water then maybe they will be less dry
Crayons are typically wax based, so water wouldn't help at all.
Good god i loved and hated them

nuu the crayons
Did you just quote nostalgia critic??
Just the tip😏
Well, I guess I will not complain about Crayolas

No? I think the closest thing I remember, is connecting a bunch of markers together
