      Thank you for the information! My husband and I made a video that I am not sure what kind of microorganism it is. It is from the water in our fish tank. Looks like a little tree that expands and then retracts. facebook.com/brandon.zy.moore/videos/1455166041180521/UzpfSTEwMDAwMDYxNDE4MTU4MjoxNDU1MTY2ODI3ODQ3MTA5/ Would love to know what kind of microorganism it is. Any idea?

    My wife gave me a microscope for my B-Day about 18 months ago. Almost ever day since then has been full of new discoveries. Life is an amazing thing. Good job on your video.

      What an excellent wife! How is the microscopy going now? If you get bored with any of it try getting a piece of polarized plastic (Internet!) enough for a piece in your eyepiece and one between your light source and the specimen. Rotate the lower one until the cross-polarising cuts out most of the light. Then look at hairs (light coloured or white probably best) or crystals (eg of fertiliser) or shredded bits of clear plastic etc. I used to encourage students to use their cell phones on the microscope -fiddly but it works! I have just been dusting down my old trinocular in the loft and tried my video camera on it: it works! Look out for my microscope videos soon! (as soon as I clean up the loft enough to sit down...:)

    Might sound a bit weird but I just find the analogy of this astounding, a higher being studying and looking down into the details of a different world, unlike ours. A water kindgom where its creatures don't know and may never know any other world outside of their own. Their water to them is perhaps like our air to us. And what other worlds are there that we humans don't see?

    • @peachyfresh3886
      @peachyfresh3886 6 років тому +3

      the universe ISNT a fractal. If you need a shape, it's more of a ball with varying degrees of stuff aggregation inside it.

    • @ronrobert6379
      @ronrobert6379 5 років тому +1

      Your explanation excludes what may exist outside of the ball. We shouldn't assume that because it has not been detected it does not exist.

    • @ronrobert6379
      @ronrobert6379 5 років тому +4

      We assume that because we are larger we are the higher beings. We believe that the knowledge we gain from our creations makes us superior. Do we ever consider the possibility that microscopic life forms created us to expand their knowledge? It is possible that the 10% of our being that is made up of human cells is just a vessel for the 90% of our being that is made up of microbial life forms. Perhaps we are all working in symbiosis for a common goal, to populate the heavens.

    I loved this video! "Focus" "more light!" "Back out"
    I felt like I was 14 again looking at stuff with my microscope. I only had whatever was low tier in the 60's but it was enough and created a flame that brought me to my current lot in life - a medical microbiologist.
    Nothing wrong with that but I'm almost ready to retire and I've begun to realize that I can't imagine life without looking into a microscope.
    Thank goodness there are nice microscopes to be had for a reasonable price in this day and age instead of Identifying bacteria and determining sensitivities I can go back to when I was 14 and spend hours looking at pond scum.
    Thank you for this video.

    I love how you come across the spikey creature at around 5:40. I found out they are heliozoan recently. They are amazing to observe. I'm not sure if it's releasing waste build-up, but they form a bubble on one side by slowly filling, then suddenly and quickly releasing whatever fluid in an instant. You can see little vent like structures on the end of the bubble for a brief moment when they "deflate". They hunt/capture paramecium and possibly euglena. I see euglena run into them and the flagella seems to get tangled on the spikes of the heliozoan. It's either the heliozoan has trapped and will eat the euglena, or the euglena is feeding off of the heliozoan's waste. I need to research what I've seen.
