Great to hear how a song/recording is developed. I wasn't aware it was as old as 1976. It's a sad song whatever it's about (if it's about any one thing at all).
These are the lyrics as posted online...you missed a word apparently? I'm not sure why B Quinn even bothered to mention it. It was I who was The hourglass And the sands of time like Shattering glass went past me Like a tunnel to the sea
The beginning of the song is a reference to Anne Boelin who was taken to london tower and her child was taken from her Elisabeth before she was executed if you see the movie "Anne of a Thousand Days" you will see how this song ties in with this songs imagery .
scott jones Stevie writes such beautiful lyrics from which she has been inspired. Just like the iconic Stevie ballad beauty and the beast inspired from the French versions of beauty and the beast and her unbelievable song Annabel Lee inspired by the Edgar Allen Poe poem Stevie is a genus songwriter I’d argue one of the best Rock N Roll songwriters female or male ever if not the best when god forbid she is no longer performing or writing and the extensive catalog of songs released , un released that music fans and musicians will have to listen to and learn from.
Kenley Ratt I have read that she wrote this about a child she lost with Lindsey. Whether it was from an abortion or not I am unsure. But, since the song was written in 1976 and that's who she was going out with at the time the timeline would fit.
Jaze Mear well my last hero just got blown up There’s no reason for anyone to have four abortions One mistake ok 2 welll don’t do it again after 2 that’s plainly no respect
She had a abortion she later said if they married and kept the child if it was a girl they would have called it Sarah, she didn't think she was suitable or good enough to be a mother and she felt Don deserved better than her even though she loved him

This is random but it reminds Me of Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon because Henry did that he trapped them in towers basically and took away their daughters so that's what I was thinking about when I was listening to the final song on the album on a video on UA-cam
Hearing this, one is reminded of what a great voice she had at this stage. It was just a few years after this that she started to sound like Lucille Ball. Probably due to all the drug abuse. I like this treatment of this song better than the version that showed up on the "Say You Will" album that sounds out of sync and disjointed.
Stevie did have damage to her vocal chords and had surgery to fix the issue, that said women's voices lower with age . As you age you also loose lung capacity which can change your tone pitch ect. Not saying she didn't have an addiction or thay she didn't smoke but y'all need to realize she was already 27 when they joined Fleetwood mac.
What a beautiful song. I have read that this song was originally motivated by her abortion. If so, there is so much sadness in her words. Such a sense of regret.
She had half a dozen abortions actually. It makes it so much sadder. The song ‘Sara’ is also partly inspired by one of her unborn babies. It’s sad seeing her now as an older woman, unmarried with no children or grandchildren. It paints an important picture though for young women; Family outweighs having a career.
@@internetuser777 I really don't see how a woman not being married or having children is "sad". You don't know her and just because for you having children makes/would make feel fulfilled doesn't mean someone else who doesn't have them can't also feel fulfilled and happy. What a misogynistic way of thinking.
Oh, do away with that asinine BS. You’re not going to sit here and try to convince me you believe that people who die alone are ‘fulfilled.’ Having children, loving and being loved by them, teaching them all you know and watching them grow, taking care of them in their youth and being taken care of by them in your old age-this is the meaning of life. Voce velata
di sensualità,
regina indiscussa
del rock più sfumato,

I thought it was the Rhiannon fable from the Mabinogion. She is blamed for her child being found dead and placed in a tower.

Stevie had surgery on her throat from belting songs, so memorize this truth. Thus Stevie's voice became 'lower'.
