- Go on, save yourself…
Leave the key here
Well, you love someone else…
And I shouldn’t be here
Well, don’t ask me why…
My walls are flamin’…
She’s so willing, little one…
I won’t be staying…
I have come to know
This world of changing faces
But I can’t change the world
And I can’t face it
So be true to me…
My walls are flamin’…
If you’re so willing, little one….
Then I can’t be staying…
What you did not need
Was a woman that was stronger
Well, you needed someone
To depend on you…
Well, I could not be her, baby…
I did not want to
But my first mistake…
Was to smile at you…
And now you feel the light
You run from the darkness…
Well, you never saw the change…
That woman’s softness…
So you be true to me
Yeah, what love was stolen…
And there was nothing more
Than that your heart was broken…
Oh, I was flamin’…
I could not see the light…
I would not, yeah…
Flamin’…flamin’…flamin’…flamin’…
Yeah…yeah…
What you did not need
Was a lady who was stronger…
What you need is someone
To depend on you…
Well, I could not be her, baby…
I did not want to
My first mistake was to smile at you…
Oh…
Flame…
So be true to me…
What love was stolen
And there was nothing more…
Than that your heart was broken…
My heart was broken
Fly…
Well, to your castle in the sky…
Ooh, don’t see the change…
Flamin’…
Stevie sings with such passion, force, lyrical majesty. You feel the earth shift under your feet and the godhood within you stir and attempt to leap out of your body.
Beautifully put 🖊 🖋 🔏 ✒️ 🖊
My favorite version of this song! Stevie nails at vocally!
She needs to add this to her concert repertoire . The audience will go nuts over it.
INDEEEEEEED
one of my many favorites by Stevie Nicks
She would probably perform the Fleetwood Mac Say You Will Version though.
The version on ''Say You Will'' is so different. That's why on youtube you always see ''Smile at You'' ANGRY VERSION!! LOL! Because she just rips it. She is so pissed. Just listen to THIS vocal just incredible!!
@@muffin6369 just found this song it so cool the emotion is incredible
Now this is the true version of the song. The vocals were perfect. Should never have been vanillafied!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Agreed. My Mom somehow had this version in the 80s. I just remember ALL Stevie with her 😂... as a toddler with my head right up to the speaker haha
Truer words never spoken. This version is perhaps her best moment.
U got that right
I heard this year's after the Say you will version.cannot believe it was overlooked til then
It wasn't vanilafied. It was Buckinghamed to death.
her rasp fits that agressive singing, great rock track
Stevie is a woman who had to retune her voice. In the early days, she was known for blowing her voice out on tour. Then as she got older, she learned more about how to conserve it and use it… and she gave us hard core like this as a result. This is POWER! ❤
Every bit as great as Rhiannon live in 77'!
Clay Swidler yes that’s what I was thinking .. flashback and chills felt here !!! ❤️🙏👏
yes it is , a bad assed song, I absolutely love it! No Light, & ' Baby Doll ' are also excellent, but everything Stevie Nicks sings is fabulous, for that matter.
Aha these two are my favourites
It's got a Stevie-only, top note like Rhiannon does.
Tremendous....Intense as hell!!!Stevie's best era!!
I could not agree more my friend....!!!
Her first mistake is when she smiled at you...
Classic Nicks
@@andhappygibson623 I'm sure we all have one..
#eddie
Awesome!! This song transmits strength. It's one of my favourite Stevie songs. What a voice!! How she sings it such passion and strength. She feels it
There is no female singer like Stevie with her unmistakable, passionate and beautiful voice. I feel identified with the lyrics of this song. Bohemian and pretty woman. Thank you for your magical songs, Stevie. This song is about heartbreak💔🌹
You can tell Stevie's really love for rock music her passion and intensity you rock golden lady
the buckingham/nicks era, and these demos ought to be released in a collection... incomparably potent to the polished studio releases...
I agree.
Flaming
The zillions of her best demos I thought. So glad I found them for she had to tighten her forgotten as pure Gold.
Such lyrical beauty and exquisite harmonies and depth of feeling. She makes you lascivious and immortal at the same time, like a holy satyr.
she nails angry...I love it
I would die to see this song sung live by Stevie Nicks/ Fleetwood Mac!!
her in concert is so awesome all I can do is cry every time I saw her
I saw Stevie Nicks the 1st time when I was 11 and The announcer said " Come on and welcome Stevie Nicks!" I burst into tears and cried the entire time! My body was just too full of emotion and it had to come out in some way. I have seen her everytime she has come to Dallas with or without Fleetwood Mac , even with Tom Petty. I'm 44 now and my reaction is still to cry! It's a little more reserved but still crying! Stevie's energy is simply overwhelming to my spirit. It's always amazing to me to be at the concert and look across the room and see someone else crying and you just look at each other and nod knowing what they are thinking and feeling without any words. So I hope one day when I am there crying I look across the room and see you my fellow Sister of the Moon.🌙
@@scarletttrinity4008 this Welsh witch appreciates you ✌💋💙🖤
@@sarahboller5912 and I you blessed be.
I saw Fleetwood Mac back in March and I cried during Rhiannon when she starts the “take me like the wind” section at the end, so beautiful and powerful
No WOMAN CAN SING LIKE STEVIE NICKS, MOST ESPECIALLY IN HER MID YEARS I GUESS, BUT SHE IS AWESOME, AND I JUST ADORE HER, SHE LIVES IN MY HEART, SHE SANG TO ME MOST MY LIFE FOR WE ARE SISTERS OF THE MOON...
Pissing off Our White Witch is a good way to find yourself on a Lilly pad wondering why you have a craving for flies.....
SEMPER STEVIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heeeeheee
I think instead of turning him a frog she just willed buckingham to get uglier and uglier and uglier, and even more wizened and bitter and wow has it ever worked, while she grows more lovely and gracious with age - same can be said for Henley and Walsh too come to think of it and Iovine too, hmm I see a pattern here...
@@arlaabrell8658 Stevie is absolutely ugly and her voice sounds shit nowadays. Stop being enchanted!
Spor List wow bitter are we?
lol 😂 .... 🙌 SEMPER STEVIE!
This gives me life.
Not really.that angry but this shit rocks
My favorite version of this song!!! You know it's a great song just because of the many album versions but this one the so called angry version is by far the best! P.s. if this is Stevie angry she can be mad at me anytime. 🥰
Yeah, I don't know how it got the name angry version but... whatever the emotion it's my favorite version.
i'm so so so blown away with this versión, just, wow. i can feel all that anger and pain flowing through her veins while she sang this. she's just out of this world
lOVE THE ANGRY vERSION.
my FAVORITE one
Shame this isnt on spotify this goes so much harder than the version on say you will
Is there anything g this legend can't sing,She blows me away
I'm believe this song is about Lindsey and Carol Ann Harris. It was written in the Tusk era. In the angry version, from the Mirage era, Stevie added the lines "Well, you never saw the change...That woman's softness..." Lindsey's brother has also mentioned a change in Carol Ann's softness. The cause for that change is debatable.
In Smile at you Angry Stevie 's ooo"s & ya's ROCK.My heart was broken when he left me for another . So don't ask me why that love was stolen cuz my heart. My heart was broken my heart has mended ever since but still remains ANGRY. STEVIE is the true Queen of Rock &Roll.
I love angry flamin' walls Stevie!
This is as good as Sister of the Moon, Stevie you need to release this version, it is so bad A$$ed good.
''If she's so willin' little one, I won't be stayin'!
Please dont ever delete this, this is my lifeee🤘
Weirdo
I LOVE THIS SONG! She nailed it!!!
Yeah, you tell him Stevie, let him have it!!!!!!!!! Get Angry!!!!!!
This is amazing. I just listened to the "Say You Will" album for the first time a week ago, and I didn't even notice this song. It's like the soul was produced right out of it. Thanks for uploading this.
My first mistake was to smile at you
Was my biggest mistake
Dark Heart I breaked up with my girlfriend and this pain in my heart because this sentence is so right
This reminds me of the anger she had in the song "Fall From Grace" which is my favorite song on Trouble in Shangri La. Alanis Morisette had "similar" anger in you oughta know. PEACE RICKY PARKER.
I soooooooo agree about Fall from grace. I love the live version with Sheryl Crow. They both have thay same gritty feel, and 2 of my favorites.
Just finished listening to the Say you will version (hadn’t heard it for a while) and came back to listen to this again. This is the better version and it’s totally due to Stevie’s raw ass vocal. Channeling Janis here definitely!
The Sound and the Fury, by Stevie Nicks.
Stevie gets me. Been on repeat all day
Christine McVie was such an underrated piano player. She 's the rock in many of their songs.
I'm not a big Lindsey fan but the guitar here is absolutely sinister and awesome!! The bass is to killer too. I love the part where Stevie hells "OOOOHHHHH and then half laughs right in the middle. Yeah Henley "Fly to (one) of your castle's in the sky"!!!! This song is a piece d' resistance!! UNFUCKINGREAL!!!!
Lindsay not here
Jimmy Iovine once said to Stevie, whether u like it or not Lindsey Buckingham has always been your best producer. His guitar and her voice make magic. He was highly critical of her work, and helped make her songs better. This is a big contention between them, he so often doesn't get the credit he deserves.
@@oceangrovegirl2718I wouldn’t say Lindsey was her best producer, her first four solo albums were absolutely amazing and didn’t have Lindsey on them that much if at all.
This is the real version! The best one!
It’s cool, but doesn’t sound polished this way for an album
chills all over
sarah yesss!
Absolute fury! I totally get it.
One of the best songs ever written
Amazing version.....THIS is the Stevie we all love. This tune reminds me of "doing the best that I can"......similar tune...
Don't EVER piss this woman off!
This comment’s even more accurate now due to the current circumstances of FM
Rightht on would not want to be on the wrong side of her, so much passion in this song, emotion excellent
She Just CONJURED Up Some FURY.... ~ FABULOUS ~
Yes indeed! But the music is so awesome as well.
Awesome. Much better than the Say You Will version. After listening to many demos, I think it's best to just let Stevie go at it! That seems to get great results.
Love Stevie!
You are so right natural!!
Funny, everyone sees things differently. I actually prefer the Say You Will version - has Lindsay's great production and multi-layered vocals. This one sounds very much like a demo and almost as if she's trying too hard. Either way, a great tune.
I love the Mirage Deluxe version personally
I don’t know what era this is, but it should have been on an album. It would have easily been on the radio!
I would love to see her sing this live, in 1970's , where is the video, for God's sake this song is great!
Amazing song!!!! I love you always Stevie.
I have never herd this Stevie song before. Thanks so much for sharing (Y)
Love this version of this song! Her vocals are magical!
She’s right. Once she said “ don’t piss me off!” I wear these platform boots for a reason !” Go Stevie Girl! I know it was just at first to be seen on stage but also to REALLY KICK ASS! TRULY ! ID NEVER WANT TO CROSS PATHS WITH HER! LUCKY I LOVE HER AND IM A HUGE FAN! ❤❤❤❤
Woah ..... i was expecting to hear the Say You Will version but after listening to this i now get why it's called the "angry version". The 2003 album version was very much polished up & altered a lot.
Let's see the newer singers do this w/ NO auto tune.
There are some that can . But I know what you mean .
The majority could, Stevie is definenly not known for her vocal range lol. Love Stevie but let's not set her up for failure. The real question is let's see modern singers write lyrics like "Landslide" without co-writers..
God where can we find all these old songs are any of them on a album ..keep hearing all these awesome songs they done new to my ears just love it so much.
Stevie wrote many many great songs who weren't released. It's a pity. I would like to have all she did on CD
SHE IS A SISTER OF THE MOON
Okay this angry version is better than than released version! When was this recorded ? Damn this should be heard by all! That’s Rock ‘n’ roll passionate Stevie!!!! ❤️
Supposedly, this version/outtake was recorded in between 1978 and 1982. Consequently, it's an absolute tragedy that the "angry versions" didn't grace either Tusk or Mirage...BOTH albums would have greatly benefited from its inclusion.
YES! YES! YES! I agree 100%! This should have been on BOTH albums!!!!!!
It was an Outtake from Mirage and is available on the Deluxe version
@@ajp9009 isnt that a different vesion that's on the deluxe mirage?
Ya man this is a MONSTER track!!!!
This song dates back to the "Tusk" sessions in 1979 but they never did a full band recording of it until the release of the "Say You Will" album in 2003
Love this version
Female, real life Yoda. Can't live with out her. Absolutely love her.
This version live would be exquisite
It is live
I meant seeing it live.
Agreed
The best angry song!
Cara, eu amo essa música, minha preferida, pois mostra a essência e potência da Stevie, surreal a emoção que se sente ao ouvir o timbre dessa mulher, só gostaria de ver um vídeo dela nessa performance na época, se tiver gravação...
Just discovered this. Love it, It reminds me a tiny bit of the way Stevie sings on her song Nothing Ever Changes
OMG Just found this and I’m obsessed! She was truly gods gift
Definitely about Lindsey and Carol Ann. “What you did not need was a lady who was stronger, you needed someone to depend on you.” Stevie was a powerhouse who liked to lead, Carol Ann was a little mouse who clung to Lindsey like a handbag.
Plus Stevie said in an interview around the time Mirage was being made that she’d recorded this track for that album, but Lindsey suggested she go with another song. Stevie agreed with him, saying Smile At You is quite bitter and they weren’t in the same place anymore.
Wrong! The story about Henley and La Pierre has been out there a long time.
muffin6369 Actually Muff, we’re both wrong.
I recently found out that she put this song forward for consideration to go on the Rumours album while they were recording in Sausalito (so like Feb 76). Lindsey and her broke up at that time, and Stevie was with Don for a year thereafter, so it’s pretty safe to assume this has nothing to do with Henley.
Stevie tried the song out with the band but Lindsey wasn’t into it (especially after he heard their old bass player from the Buckingham Nicks era helped her co-write it). It was likely about Lindsey and the girl he was seeing during their on-off period before they broke up for good. I think her name was Christina? Ken Caillat confirms all of this, and I choose to believe him over hearsay from fans...
In that interview she specifically says “we aren’t in that same place anymore.” Why would she talk about Lindsey wanting to do another song for Mirage, say she agrees with him, and in the same breath say “we’re not in the same angry place” about Don? Makes no sense to me. I believe it’s on the Buckingham Nicks website if you want to go listen.
Regardless of which woman Stevie’s talking about in her song, I can pretty confidently assume it has nothing to do with Don Henley. But honestly I’m just glad she was angry enough at SOMEBODY to write this in the first place because it’s beautiful and I love how furious the lyrics are.
Fleetwood Mac was MADE by STEIVIE
@@timothykerr3450 Not really, the Peter Greene era Mac was quite popular in the Blues genera. They were looking for a new guitarist, and was impressed by Lindsay. Stevie was dating him at the time, and they were a package deal.
The flames of fury ignited! Nothing like the intense and magical voice of Stevie Nicks belting her heart out ❤
Wow this is so much better!! Those old Mac demos are so damn good
wow ! The version of " Smile at You " that appears on " Sa6 you Will " is great ... But this version is fabulous ! Always a Nicks fan !
kevin patrick I don't like say you will version
André Ferrari me either.
I could not be her baby my first mistake was to smile at you! angry version rocks!
This is absolutely amazing!
This is actually unfinished ..definitely the best vocals out of ALL the versions ..and Lindsey shredding the guitar, too! The bass is just not there yet. If it had more of John except here and there, it would be great. I still don't know why they didn't put this one on the deluxe of Mirage...even if they had to add in some new bass lol
I absolutely love this song!
Awesome song/version never heard it before..❤❤❤❤❤
OMG I MISSED THIS SONG GREAT SONG
OMG what emotion!!! Was this recorded for the Rumours album? I assume this was directed at Lindsey. And it was during the Rumours sessions that she was in that place of angry and sad,,,, at the loss of their relationship. This was AMAZING! Un effing real!
What beautiful fury! Musical fucking perfection!!!
The genius of this beaitiful being floors me over and over.
Omg I heard this once and couldnt think of the title...now I have found it 😁😁
Just loving you and just living with my own troubles but my Faith is in tact.... forever thanks for your support and love
Love to you ❤️ perfect michael Miller
I love this song so much, I love the honesty.🦆
Amazing song...
Without even hearing the other versions, this just sounds so natural. How its supposed to be. Fucking astonishing. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💕💕💕💕
extraordinaria canción de la gran Stevie nicks ,actual reina del rock
Just amazing
She is one hell of a woman
This is just simply awesome. Now go listen to her at the 1983 US Festival. HORRIBLE!!! And yet the Stevie fiends said it was fabulous!! This is what makes me mad they just won't EVER say anything bad about her performance when some of them like US were atrocious and she would be the first one to say so. THIS IS Stevie. Listen to thisvoice. UNBELIEVABLE. THIS is a performance!!
muffin6369 You are not wrong there. I’m a massive Stevie fan. But if you have any other opinion. Other than every performance she has ever done is excellent. You are in trouble 😂 This is amazing though!
How is this version of this song connected to performances at the US Festival?
I.think I'm pissd
I read somewhere (i don't remember where) that this was written after Stevie walked in on Don Henley while he was with someone else (rumour has it that it was Cher's little sister). I don't know if any of this is true but they led so wild lives back then that anything goes I guess.
she can be and sound angry at us anytime
14 year old me was shook
Our Generations " I knew you were trouble."
damn this kicks so much ass
I could Not be Her baby😍
👏 wow..amazing
Sung sensationally. You have to be very angry for that.
That's my girl!
My heart was stolen my heart was broken
An example of Lindsey getting it wrong. They should have never have messed with this version.
