His hair even perfectly matches Aangs hair in season 3. It’s gonna be perfect
Sadly there might not be a season 3 with the same cast since it takes so long to film 1 season that the director mentioned they might be too old to play the same characters. Even if season 3 were to be made it would probably be with a different cast or the story will be changed to fit the ageing cast

I can't believe they told Paul Sun-Hyung Lee he was doing a basketball movie!! Firebending is basketball, wonder what the other elements are as sports XDXD?
Earthbending = rugby
Waterbending = swimming (obviously)
Airbending = gymnastics
I can't imagine, like you go and are like "oh that's a random movie, it's fine!" and then it turns out to be ATLA lol. I'd go full panic attack mode.

That basketball fake out script is so clever
The fact they wrote fact scripts about basketball including Zuko and Irohs relationship is genius
I actually think it’s dumb. Imagine how many more people would’ve auditioned for the role of Iroh (or any other character in the series) if they knew it was for Iroh and not Howard from a random basketball movie.
He did a great job, but what if there’s someone who embodies and loves Iroh more than he does sitting on his couch because he didn’t want to be Howard?
@@lilnerdboy69 This kind of productions are not open to anyone, they offer the casting opportunity to actors who they believe will embody the character well. They get a lot of experienced actors to audition and then they have their pick. So it's not like anyone could have auditioned for Iroh. Maybe for the younger characters like Katara, Aang or eventually Toph, they do open auditions (through agents though), but it's still a complex process.

@@lilnerdboy69 not really, pretty sure most of the time auditions are done like this(random script) due to the confidentiality reasons, the only time it's not is when it's a completely new show. Since avatar is so known, it could have been leaked easily during audition .

I would say 40s or 50s but not in a bad way, like a wise and strong 52.

@@ndo533 you can't tell age then, he looks 30s to 40s but I can tell he's not, I commented this before that before I knew his age and I was right I felt like he was in his 50s if you know people you get a feeling for it and I'm not old at all, so I'll only get better at it.

Me too! He had very intellectual and thoughtful answers. When you reach into the soul that's how you know it's going to be a good performance.
Everyone else was like "playing these characters is so awesome and cool and joyous!!" and Ken is like "yo I got trauma and you're gonna see it on screen" kinda sad but I'm excited to see where he takes it

Ken Leung was so good as Zhao, and I'm stoked to see Ken get such a large role. He's been in the acting game forever - Sucker Free City, Rush Hour 1 - and he deserved this chance to really flex his acting muscles. Killed it!

I love Daniel Dae Kim’s casting in the live action because he also played General Fong in the OG series (season 2 episode 1: The Avatar State) and Hiroshi Sato (Asami’s father) in The Legend of Korra 🫶🏼⬇️

I'm really excited to see how Ken plays Zhao. He's such a phenomenal actor, particularly when it comes to mean or evil characters, that I know Zhao is going to cook.

Yep! Because I was doing the interview, Netflix makes it a requirement to watch the screeners first and I had 24hours to watch it. They probably thought I'd watch the first couple like most journalists, but I was obsessed and NEEDED to binge it! Also yeah a shame about Kiawientiio, but I love that big bro came in to help her though!

Daniel Dae Kim man. Hasn't aged in 30 years and is an amazing actor. Completely humble in this interview. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee obviously embodies Uncle Iroh over here singing his costars praises. Love the duo and it was something I didn't expect.

the casting they did is PERFECT!!! and most of them are raised in martial arts arts…omg its like they was born to be in this show!!!

these kids are so naturally their characters its insane! casting knocked it out of the park
netflix did really well imo with this live action, i hope most of the cast is able to stay thru the next seasons as it does take time to film, but the story aligns well, minor changes ofc but they gave it that real life aspect, book 2 definitely gonna be fire, hope they start working on it soon!

You're an AMAZING interviewer!!! Doing your research really shows and you asked thought provoking questions or questions that let us get to know the cast. I'm into kpop and it's so painful how many interviewers do 0 research before hand.... such as asking a Canadian-Korean how they speak such Good English, or butchering names like they've never actually heard it spoken. I also hate interviewers who ask silly things like "how long did it take you to do your makeup today?" . Thank you for being a REAL professional and giving these kids a chance to really show themselves

Im a 3d artist freelancer and I absolutely love the show when i was a kid, and now am fascinated by the live action adaption with all the AMAZING and CRAZY 3d work that went into this.
I am rewatching the whole season on weekend, i am in love with this series.

ken leung is lowkey underrated casting I feel like he's gonna steal the show with this character. Jason Isaacs killed it in the voice but just re watched rush hour and almost forgot how great he is loved him in Old too so that man was also some great casting.

When I was first watching the series and I saw Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai I was like “hm..I swear I’ve seen him before!” And then I watched raya the last dragon and I was like “I knew I knew that guy! He’s the same actor as chief Beja” and so I did a little research and he’s in the divergent series as zach Chang I think? Anyways, it was awesome finding this out. I’m so glad they picked Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai because they just like so much alike!! The animated version and Daniel!

I sat with my kids watching the original show upon 1st airing. I was just as excited as my kids to watch every episode. The kids are all gown up and out of the house now. I just binge watched the new Netflix show. I LOVED IT! All those feelings came rushing back. These guys are simply awesome in their rolls. Just wish to have seen more Appa. Great interview!

Wow, I've watched it already, and it's amazing! Fantastic live-action adaptation! I can't wait for the next season! It's action, drama, fantasy, and comedy-all in one! Amazing cinematography, amazing special effects, those animals, spirit animals just amazing, and their powers, the visuals look great and the backgrounds look fantastic! They're all amazing! Gordon is a brilliant actor for his young age, and he is so cute; he has a million-dollar smile too. Dallas is a versatile actor, he's amazing actor. Kiawentiio and Ian are amazing too. Paul, and Daniel are very good too. All the cast members are really doing a great job.

I had a watch party with my friends and we stayed up all night and watched it, I can't wait for the second season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll explain the obvious problem as a big fan of the animated version. Aang learns no water bending at all which pushes his character down, Sokka isn’t the warrior he dreams to be and instead wants to focus on being a “mechanist”, Bumi didn’t share any good wisdom with Aang and they made him seem ridiculous even though he’s supposed to be this incredible earth bender. Katara had her lime light and a lot of focus but the show is ATLA not Katara the Water Bender. Badger mole didn’t teach Aang any earth bending and Aang’s innocent crush on Katara isn’t reflected at all. Basically all these themes and character motivations were wiped away. Also, Ozai likes Zuko more than Azula.. he literally burned his face and Azula is Ozai’s favorite. That drives Zuko and shows his father’s ruthlessness. I think the show tries to make the show “modern” this way, by saying look how the first born son gets special treatment, not letting Sokka fill in his role as a leader, and not exemplifying Aang’s water bending skills to not up stage Katara. If this how shows are these days, it’s fine, but I’ll stick to the originals which knew how to make a balance between characters and gave them their proper arcs.
