- We've misplaced 6 of our minutes, so enjoy this new 6 Minute Talk! Today we discuss whether or not 6 Creed is just a marketing ploy to sell more rifles, or if there is more to it than that!
My .243 has never let me down. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!
Def prefer 12 min over 6 min talks 👍
Does anyone know what their website is called? ?
If I were to buy a new 6mm, it probably would be the 6mm Creedmoor, but…I have used the 243 in 3 different rifles for some 45 years. I’ve taken coyotes to mule deer with 85 to 95 grain projectiles without a failure out to 435 yards (a long way for me to shoot from field positions). Won’t be changing cartridges soon.
Still waiting for a full-length episode on this. You put out good info and I enjoy the podcasts overall. 243 vs 22-250 vs 6mm creed (best somewhat common "heavy" hitting varmit bolt gun caliber). Aside from that, a 6.5 prc talk would be nice too.
I think both are good cartridges, but I also think ammo availability and selection will be a decider for a lot of people and that certainly favors .243. A 55 or 58 grain varmint bullet traveling at around 3,900 to 4,000 fps from a 24" 243 is hard to beat for coyote hunting, a 95 grainer is great for deer and pretty good on hogs as well. I like the old reliable cartridges, grew up with them, but I certainly don't discount or dismiss the new "modern" cartridges. As they pick up popularity and ammo availability and selection gets better they very well may start to displace some of the rounds that have been around for decades. Thanks for the video. Oh, the timer is really neat.
What’s your fav custom load for the 6 creedmoor for coyotes? I’m shooting 7.5 twist 22” barrel and suppressed
12 min talks is my preference
That is a darn good explanation! Good stuff!
My main concern with the 6 creed is the fast twist when I pretty much only want to shoot varmint bullets fast. Sounds like the middle weight varmint bullets should be okay though. I do like that it does better in a shorter barrel. A video on your "ultimate" thermal rifle for coyotes would be good. I want my next thermal rifle to be good from 0-350 or so and the goal of no runners with no concern of being fur friendly. Something like a 20 inch 6 creed shooting a mid weight for caliber varmint bullet?
Maybe a video on the options and what to look for or consider for getting your first custom rifle built. There's so many options its hard to know where to start. A 6 creed waypoint seems like a good option without going to the custom rifle cost and wait time.
I'd watch that!!
We will put that on the list.
@@txpredatorhunting Looking forward to it!
This is what concerns me slightly but I’m ordering a Ruger American 6 creed regardless within the month. I’m hoping to get a good coyote/general varmint load with the 75gr vmax using Varget. If shit hits the fan I guess I’ll bump up to the 87gr vmax but I have a feeling it should be fine
If you want to run a short barrel in a 243 use the appropriate powder!!!!! Sales BS!!!!!
My first high powered rifle was a .243. My brother has always used a 22-250 for our iowa coyotes but I have always liked the 6mm fkexibility.. My next bolt gun build will be a 6 creed and my next ar build will be a 6arc. I cannot wait.
i dont have a dog in this fight but every lil gun shop i ever go to has 243. i rarely see 6arc or 6 creed. i guess im the only guy in usa thats not a hornady fan.
Is it just me or does Wade only own like 2 different hoodies?? Can someone get him a few more??
Never religiously listened to a podcast other than this
I'm running a 6 creed. I want to build this rifle to the max performance. I'm running a supressor s and 90 grain bullet. What barrel length and twist rate do I need for my barrel
For the 90’s?
Yes 90 grain nosler fb. Please give me your insight
I have at least 800 once fired .243 case so my decision as already been made.
I'm also curious how it's possible that .243's keep winning practical shooting contests. Weird that such a old , inferior case design does that.
Full pod cast
I can see some advantages to a Creedmoor case , longer neck gives more bullet holding security when practicing partial neck length sizing as compared to shorter 243 neck .
Sharper shoulder angle helps give more positive head clearance . If you are setting up a minimum spec match chamber then the Creedmoor case is a tad better but for the average shooter a 243 case has more powder room . 6 mm Creedmoor is loaded to higher pressures commercially than the 243 which gives it an advantage on paper but using 243 hand loads take way that advantage . For the average shooter who already owns a 243 and has all the gear for it I would not rush out and buy a 6mm Creedmoor . Also comparing cartridges that are not firing the same projectile is unfair and gives unreliable data .
I bought a 16" 6ARC from Pro 2A tactical. I can't get it to shoot 1.5 MOA. I've tried a dozen different bullets and powder ladders. Different lowers, etc.
Did it come as a complete upper/rifle or just a barrel?
@@kirkmartin2223 I bought just the complete upper.
@@waynemensen4252 pull it apart and lap the upper receiver.
@Kirk Martin I should have bought the complete gun. I'm not familiar with the proper process for lapping it.
@@waynemensen4252 $35 tool and a bunch of UA-cam videos on how to do it. It's really simple. The first thing I would look at is your trigger. It's going to be difficult to shoot good groups with a milspec trigger
Does anyone know what their website is called??
Allymunitions
Do a cast about 8.6black
Is it time yet for 6 ARC part 2?
This summer
@@txpredatorhunting nice! Just picked up a barrel, I’ll be looking out for it. I love your guys humor, keep it up long or short format
@@MrWallaland we appreciate it.
What we really need is a 6 creed vs 6 arc video!! 🙏
As far as sheer ballistics and performance goes, the 6mm Creedmoor beats the 6mm Arc hands down. Now if you're not running a bolt gun and want a lightweight gasser? then sure the Arc now has its place, because that's where it really shines. For PRS you can load the Creedmoor up or down to match velocities to save barrel life etc. However, you'll never load the Arc up to the velocities the Creedmoor hits with the same weight bullets.
Built a new 6mm Creedmoor deer rifle and it does everything better than the 243 Win. Ammo availability for 6mm Creedmoor is getting better and better every year. As it continues to grow, there will be hardly any reason to still rock a 243 Win.
Like comparing green apples to red apples.
What about 6mm Creed vs 25-06?
25-06 runs all over 6mm and 6.5 creedmoor sorry it's just facts
@@user-zb3nj1uj6z please share these facts….don’t get me wrong I love a 25-06. What bullets are you comparing in the 6mm creed vs 25-06.
@byronstrohm3288 25-06 is just a better all around I own both I also shoot PRC for a living and I shoot 6mm for that and 25-06 when I hunt or really want to burn with speed and accuracy
you can have a .243 in a faster twist barrel
Yes, but not widely available unless you get a custom barrel made, which most people don’t do
Glad i am not the only AR-10 hater out there.
For using light bullets it’s just useless IMO, it’s why I sold mine, to many horror stories of uncrimped light grain bullets unseating
Without using dogs, have you been successful at Cougar hunting?
Such a tease
6.3 and the 208 do one one that
I am sick of hearing my Fudd friends whine about all the Creedmoors, full podcast please.
😂
Your man bun is bouncing.
@@lauraburandt2655 I call it the 6.5 Manbun myself, I’m soooooo offended 🤣
I run both
👍
Cut your big podcast down to 30 to 45 minutes/ I prefer 12 minutes
👍🙏✌
Valkyrie predator loads. Cause I bought one annnnnnd….I can’t sell it cause no one likes them cept for you.
I love how modern hunters these days are really dialing into accuracy. Back in the 90s we would slay deer with open sights and paper plate accuracy at a hundred yards. Minute of deer was a common phrase. Also people didn’t shoot a thousand rounds of anything other than 22. Nowdays people talk about spending 5 grand in ammo to test their guns. If you have the means than by all means please do but at some point you need to realize that your gun has turned into a Barbie paper hole punch and it’s not putting meat on your family table.
Prefer the 12 minute talks. Actually I wish they were all longer podcasts. You have a lot of knowledge and a simple way of explaining things. No sense in rushing old boy
The real gunsmith will defer with you on hornady designing chambers with new cartridges. 😂😉
If both get the job done, why all the conversation.pick one you can get ammo for and shoot or hunt. Whatever works for you ...nuff said.
6mm ARC. Save on powder and lots of barrel life
6 creed in a bolt and 6arc in a ar and be done with it
Also I like the 12 min more then the 6 but whatever works best for y’all. Awesome content and not some garbage bs like most keep’em rollin
Even with a big flash out the end they both will shoot faster out a a 16in then a 6arc can with a long barrel
I've heard the inside barrel tolerance of the 6 creed is tighter than 243... making it a more accurate
243 still stabilizes the small bullets and shoots them fast. But long bullets can be seen better and maybe shoot a little better. But 243 will make most happy. 6Arc is better than them all even if it’s a slower 6creed
My .243 shoots better than 1” groups at 100 yds., and I can buy ammo just about anywhere in various bullet weights. Why would I want to spend more money on ammo? You guys need to find better reasons for a talk.
You need to find a better reason to comment
Your comparing rifle barrels NOT cartridges!!!!!!!! TWIST A 243 properly and we now have a cartridge as good or better than a 6cm!!!! You are the perfect example of a paid influencer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 minutes in and he's said absolutely nothing.
my best use case is a 6.5 AR 10 or a 243 AR 15 with a 20 inch barrel AND a suppressor🫠😁. I do not own one or the other. But I did want to talk trash to an ar 10 hater. Like, why? Full disclosure: I do not own any ARs. Am your regular lever bolt traditional typr guy. But have been saving up for my first 308 AR. So like, why? I just watched some videos the other day of dudes shooting super accurate at matches, with ARs? So my understanding and recent learning is that yes, ok, bolt is inherently more accurate. But with todays better bullets, as you yourself specifically state, and with today’s better rifles and chamber and barrels and all that, the accuracy differences, again in today’s day and age, are MUCH more minimal than, say, the 1970s. So why not take your sarcastic statements to us the audience about “better bullets”, and apply it to an AR platform? But nah you won’t. And everything I am typing also means nothing to you because I was honest about not owning an AR10 but really wanting one and saving up for one. And welp, it’s a comments section and at least I was honest as a complete stranger in the internet comments section on a random video that I clicked. Anyway, great explanation between the two, regardless!
