my mind truly boggles as why there wasnt a tutorial built in to the game...i consider mysef a seasoned gamer but I struggled to understand it without these videos..thanks for the video
I'm glad you found the video helpful. It took me like 4-5 hours just to work it out and get level 2 done, but once I did it became infinitely more fun which is what motivated me to make the video.

Seems to be a trend with RTS games, which is extra weird😆
First game I had, I ran out of food, wood, happiness, money, basically, lost it after 20 minutes

Thank you so much for this guide lol, spent quite a bit of time trying to find the tutorial within the game. Just little things you included like "left click on villager, right click on building" is super helpful when the game doesn't actually explain it to you at any point. I'm happy to figure out the strategy but the base gameplay was a pain to figure out with this one especially since you lose all UI if you pause (this game would benefit so much from a pause button in singleplayer/campaign, at least on Normal mode)
Yeah I found the game really difficult to work out, but once I worked a few things out it was really fun!
2 minutes of this game and I was ready to give up. It really needs a proper tutorial! That being said, this helps a lot so thank you very much!

Thanks for this, as there's no tutorial in this game I've lost interest several times but since watching this video I'm gonna install this back on my switch and give it another try. It's the closest way of playing a game like age of empires on the switch and I can't wait to get into the story too.

Quick tips for beginners that are maybe not obvious :
1- always try to put a silo if possible on food tile so your protected from rat
2- happiness is the key to flourish if needed put some skald here and there it helps a lot
3- there is different winning condition going forceful is not always the wae
4- upgrade your building wisely
5- if you got too much wood but no food trade some woodcutter or even some merchant for normal villager they give you food so put them all back when ur in need it cost nothing to asign them again

Perhaps good to also point out then, that the skald is unique to the clan of the stag. Other clans usually have a brewery that acts in much the same way (although it doesn't generate fame as well).

How do you trade in a professional (like wood cutter) for a villager? Couldn't figure that out
@Luke Hebert you have to select that woodcutter and right click on a house to restore them to standard villager status. Then you can put them to work on the next thing.
I'm quite bad at strategy games, but I enjoy playing them!

You can assign any type of worker, even warriors, to the house or town hall to make them a villager again

Appreciate the guide. I find it ironic that I go looking for help to raise Happiness and the tutorial ends with you being at -1 Happiness. This game is... I dunno, not sure it's the most balanced it could be. Happiness can get out of hand.
Yeah its very balanced for sure, you make even a couple mistakes and it can mess the entire run. It's very fun to work it out though.
This has a decent difficulty level curve. I am trying to figure out how to keep happiness because even when I built the required buildings for resource production I lost my villagers due to lack of happiness.
Yeah the game is very difficult for sure. For me I would hope for a well timed feast to at least raise some of the happiness again. It's difficult to manage for sure.

I still don't understand clearly how the happiness works. Anything you do, the happiness decreases...
And I think you have to explain more about earning money.
You earn money from the trading post. I found that I had other priorities generally before getting the trading post running. As for happiness, I think as long as food is increasing, you run a festival during the winter months and have everything else well balanced it should go up. I hope you're able to work it out.
You can make breweries to get more, and hover over the icon and it will say why they are happy and why unhappy
At 2:50 you say to left click one and right click one to order a villager to build, what’s the equivalent control for the Nintendo Switch?
The game shows the controls on screen from what I can see. Let me know if you manage to work it out.
I get to a point everytime where I have multiple breweries, and a farm even though I couldn't find another but I always hit a certain point where my food and happiness die out. I had hunters hut and a fishing hut. Any tips or thoughts on what I am doing wrong.
I'd say try not to expand too quickly, also don't be scared to explore the terrain as you might find something useful. Beware of animals or mobs that will attack you while you explore. Hope that helps.
@@Mithrie i was definitely expanding way too quickly. My game I started last night is still going and I specifically set out to not do that again. I am still struggling with happiness even with 2 breweries. Feasts only work in a pinch real quick but phew happiness is key here.

I do have one question, I'M also playing on hard and I often have one villager who just wanders around with an icon that says "Clan member without a job". Since I'm playing on Switch, I can't select villagers and I have no idea how to assign a job to him. Every time I assign a villager to a new building, it's not the free-roaming one gets assigned.
I find it extremely annoying.
Checking quickly on Google I wasn't able to find a concrete answer. Were you able to work it out? Sorry for the late reply.
@@Mithrie hey! thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I did manage to sort it out by accident LOL. so you just need to find out which job that member previously had, then locate the building and select "unassign". It is very annoying but I guess it's a compromise the devs had to do to port the game to Switch
My main concern as a beginner is that I don't know how to get back to the menu/close the gaḿe. All I can do is change to my desktop and force close it. I don't get how this can be an issue even. And I don't find a single question about this on the whole internet...
The standard for most games is to press the Escape button on your keyboard. I'm surprised this would be an issue.

if you played culture 2 or culture 3 is kinda easy to play .
my people always starved in culture games .
