I put these on an Ibanez Mezzo. It’s an entry level bass and the pickups were not bad at all. The Seymours costed almost as much as the bass, bring more growl and better definition. I’m very happy and feel the upgrade was worth the money.
I upgraded my Ibanez to Bartolini electrics and soapbars and it was a HUGE difference. The stock phat II sounded pretty good, but the Bartos blow it away by a wide margin. Of course, the upgrade cost more than the entire guitar, but so what? I'm not interested in selling it anyways. For the casual player I would think that upgrading the pickups is probably a waste of effort, but if you gig on weekends then an upgrade is almost required.
Nice demo, i just added some Quarter Pounders to my classic vibe jazz and it totally sounds better, more powerful. I just pit a Vintage Modified PJ bass on layaway which I will probably be adding some QP's as well 👍
Quarter Pounders are definitely an upgrade, Dimarzio bass pickups are really sweet too. The stock pickups aren't bad, but they're thinner sounding, the QP's are richer and have more depth
Not a massive difference but there is a deeper tone to the quarter pounders.. is the audience going to know the difference, no. But an upgrade will make you feel more confident in your playing, in my opinion
Great video and nice playing too. I'm considering to get this bass so was curious to see/hear how it would sound with upgraded "pups". Liked and subscribed.
Thank you Andy for the kind words! The Jaguar 32 inch Classic Vibe is a seriously fun bass. It can go the extra mile with a few upgrades, but honestly is a banger right out of the box.
Hi, i just got this bass. love jags, and the med scale dug its hooks into me... the problem i have is with the E string. The E string on my standard 34 inch, is nice, and deep and thick and buttery..... the E string on this jag is, i dunno, clanky, i guess punchy and light(?), and not a deep resonating bass that i want. Is this because of the missing 2 inches on the scale? Can i get it back by upgrading the pick ups? i was actually refered to the QPs, so we would have the xact same setup if i go that way
the Seymour Duncan ones just sound like it has higher output and a bit more treble imo. For professionals who need a very specific sound every part of the instrument matters but for most people who play at home and occasionally do small gigs it's definitely not worth the price.
@@91cog I have a Gibson Explorer bass with medium scale and I love it. Sounds great and look awesome. It is a bit heavy and clumsy when playing at home so the CV should be great. A nut sounds good. Any thoughts on Warwick Just A Nut III ? Plastic or brass?
Hey man, I just got the exact same bass. Was yours humming/buzzing a lot?? Mine is buzzing like crazy and it’s driving me nuts, the main reason I’m looking to try and change the pickups in hopes it will help…
Thanks Andrew! The standards are surprisingly a good pickup, and being lower output than the Seymours may lend itself to the warmth. Thanks for watching
Man I really hate roundwounds. My ears bleed everytime. The Standards sounded better for me. More open and less compressed. The seymours were hotter but that means basically nothing.
I thought the video was extremely well made. Direct to the point. Good comparisons, explanation on how to change the pickups with a time lapse video. What else would you want? Hahaha
Very appreciative of you playing with both a pick and fingers
that harmonic riff u did was sick!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Cool video, I'm thinking of putting these in my TMB30
Great vid and shirt! (and video length ;P)
Thanks Lobster! I can be a fun guy some times 😄

Did you keep the active electronics?
I've put them in three of my basses. Love them. Nice video.
A tried an tested classic. Such a great pickup!

Thank you! Quarter pounders are a great addition to any classic vibe bass, overall makes for an enjoyable instrument that can do the work.
Excellent harmonics technique un 3:10.... 👏🏼👍🏼.....I' Will copy... 😁
Thanks for watching!
This is so cool, I have the exact bass and just stared to look in to these pups!
No regrets here! Very good bang for buck if you’re after a high output punch.
For live/practice stock are ok, but when it comes time to hit record QP'S are the bomb!
Honestly, the standards sounded better to me
The standard alnico pickups certainly can do the business. Thanks for watching!
Agreed
Quarter Pounders are definitely an upgrade, Dimarzio bass pickups are really sweet too. The stock pickups aren't bad, but they're thinner sounding, the QP's are richer and have more depth
Not a huge difference but I definitely preferred the Seymour pickups cause of the slight growl it adds.
Squier do a pretty good job nowadays but the SD’s certainly are an upgrade. Thanks for watching
The Duncans are crisper, with more definition, more musical, if that makes sense.
Agree with this! Thanks for watching
I upgraded but found that my original Squire pickups were actually beefier
Maybe a slight upgrade, but not worth the $$. A good preamp pedal will make a much bigger improv for any bass you use wi it.
Thanks for watching and appreciate your thoughts!

I think it's really important to stress that the dog is adorable
He’s my best buddy!

Nice upgrade thanks

I have the same bass on order. Do you have any plans on upgrading it any further besides the bridge and the pickups?
You’ll love it! Was eyeing off doing a Nut upgrade at some point. Any suggestions?

I’ll have a look into the type of nut - I’m leaning towards graphite or pure bone. Good job on the Gibson, I bet it rocks!

There is no internal shielding inside, i added it when gave guitar to service, it helped a lot
I wonder how easy it was to solder these stacked pots, or did you left only one volume/one tone ?
Pretty easy! It’s just replacing where the old pick up wires went. Thanks for watching!
I put these in my crappy Peavey Milestone IV starter cheap bass. Night and day difference.
Would have made a huge difference! Thanks for watching
I think duncans have better harmonics but both sound good to me
The stock pickups do a great job for the price! Thanks for watching
What's the name of your band? I like the backing tracks you use, i play pop punk with my son.
My band name is ‘Maybesitter’. You won’t find much online just yet, but will be releasing music in 2021!
@@91cog sweet 👍, is there any live video on UA-cam?
Not just yet - 2021 will be the year
Preferred the warmth of the standards
Thanks Andrew! The standards are surprisingly a good pickup, and being lower output than the Seymours may lend itself to the warmth. Thanks for watching
Given quality of pickups on classic vibe jaguar i'd say that switching to Seymour Duncan is not worth it, it is not an upgrade, sidegrade at best.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! Squier have certainly picked up their game lately and do a pretty good job from the factory.
Who did the vid edit? Fire them. Can hardly hear you
They got shown the door ages ago! Thanks for watching
Oh ? I heard him perfectly…
QP's definitely have more depth and warmth
Sounds good ❤it
Thanks for watching!

What a crappy video. Background music is downing out the persons voice. Must be a drummer.
Don’t forget to smash that dislike button!
what video did you watch...you sure it was this one?
I thought the video was extremely well made. Direct to the point. Good comparisons, explanation on how to change the pickups with a time lapse video. What else would you want? Hahaha
The video is fine. 🤷♀️
