I'm a little new to bass and picked up a MIM Limited Ed (British Racing Green) and had these pickups. I'm impressed. On sale for only $50 more than the regular Players Edition. Thanks for the review.

I put these in my 2020 MIM Fender Precision bass, and that thing now screams. Love it! Great work and video.

When you touch the pole piece does it buzz?

Sage Green Metallic is the code for my bass. My strat is jade green and it’s close, but not perfect. I wish they matched because I love this bass

@@jdriffsreviews9723 VERY cool regardless. You don't see very many Fender products in either color.

Love my 1/4’s on my ‘08 MIM P!!!! The only thing is that the opening on the pickguard was tight with the new pups so some light filing made the guard fall in.👍🏼

I’m thinking of installing quarter-pounders on my electric cello

I have a Nate Mandell signature so have these as standard, additionally i own a Musicman, a Jazz and sold my 4001 Ric a while back after an offer i simply could not refuse, without a shadow of a doubt the P is the best sounding of the lot and i say that begrudgingly as i was always a Ric man, not to keen on your use of overdrive in the demo as you really lose the tone of the SD3 and at that level you could plug a crapoller bass in it will sound ok, good video man 😁

That E sounds a bit weak when played clean....also string choke at the top end of the neck. Think the bass needs a set up.

It did and finally got one. Truth be told it need a full set up and fret level but it’s atleast back in a state that’s good enough for recording now

If I could only have one P bass with one pickup it would be this one. They drive an amp so nice, but clean up with the volume and sound more traditional with cutting the v and t a bit. Don't even have to think about the amp.

OMG the coil is split being that there are clearly two separate pieces making up one pickup. The hum has been bucked or canceled by this build method of 2 reversed magnetic fields eliminating the 60 cycle hum. I was trying to make this clear in this post but looking back, it is a little confusing.

  • @bryantherocker

P bass is a Humbucker I believe, not a single coil

    • @jdriffsreviews9723

Its actually considered a “split coil” pickup. It IS humbucking so you’re right there, but it’s not a traditional humbucker in that a humbucker would have two coils under the same string and use phase cancelation to get rid of the hum. The p bass pickup has two separate smaller than single coil bobbins that are overwound and create that different kind of tone. Two ways to get the same result, but that’s why a p bass pickup doesn’t really sound like say a musicman humbucker in a stingray

Is this a made in Mexico p bass and if so what year is it?

    • @jdriffsreviews9723
      @jdriffsreviews9723  2 роки тому +3

Yes, definitely made in Mexico and it was probably a 2001-2002 assuming it was new stock when I bought it in store, I’ll have to double check the serial number

Their are 2 coils split between the strings. Calling it a single coil is wrong (even the fender brand does it though) It really is a humbucker because it " blocks hum" due to the reverse polarity of the coils which surround the 1/4 inch pole pieces.
