12 hours are not enough to explore Almaty which can offer a lot of picturesque sights and misterious places. You should definitely come back next summer and fill the gaps. BTW, you both look sooo Kazakh 😁

Yeh by October it's going to be getting cold, I've been there in mid July and it was 38 degrees of dry heat hell. That's coming from an Australian who has grown up with summer days that regularly venture into the mid to high 30s. Almaty is by no means a beautiful city, but the people are friendly, it has all the necessities for modern life (I only saw one squat toilet in 4 months of living there) and the view of the mountains from the southern parts of the city are breathtaking.

3:33 you haven't been to the country's current capital Astana/Nur-Sultan yet - in September it already gets around 0 degrees Celsius with chilly winds! And the infamous Almaty -10C winters and Astana's -50C blizzards in January
