- Turkmenistan Part 2: • Inside the Most SECRET...
Thank you so much for watching! My brother and I traveled across Central Asia in October 2019. Read about locations and trip details below:
Location: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Stop #1: Happiness Palace (Wedding Palace) -- "The eleven-story building holds seven banquet rooms, 36 shops, and two cafes, providing all the necessary items of wedding services, including dress shops, decorations, beauty salons and a 22-room hotel. The third and fourth floors hold administrative offices and a library."
Stop #2: Old Nisa -- "One of the Parthian Empire’s earliest capitals. Its Parthian name was Mithradatkirt, or fortress of Mithradates (171-138 BC), after the king who turned Parthia into a powerful empire and one of Ancient Rome’s greatest rivals. The Parthian Empire was the most powerful force on the Iranian plateau, intermittently controlling Mesopotamia between 190 BC and AD 224. At one point, its empire occupied all of modern Iran, Iraq and Armenia, parts of Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. It also briefly held territories in Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine."
Stop #3: Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mosque -- "The mosque, constructed by the French company Bouygues, was built in the hometown of President Saparmurat Niyazov. It opened on October 22, 2004 and was built by Niyazov with a mausoleum in preparation for his death. Niyazov died two years later, and was buried in the mausoleum on December 24, 2006."

I love Turkmenistan from CAMBODIA 🇰🇭🇰🇭🥰
Love the people, but no the place or it's regime (maybe just it's arquitecture, it's quite interesting like most of the post-soviet states, thought!! xd).
Beautiful Turkmenistan and beautiful people of Turkmenistan 🇹🇲 ,,,, love from Syria
Thank you 😊 I am from Turkmenistan in Ashgabat
@@brndmedia8316 are black people there.
@@brndmedia8316 are you oppressed?
I like to visit
This is the best video on Turkmenistan I've ever seen! I'm surprised you only have 584 subscribers (585 now). I like Michael's commentary; very insightful!
I agree!!
Hey twin
Central Asia is one of my favourite places to travel, however I haven’t been to Turkmenistan. I’d love to travel and experience the capital, such a unique place. Great video thanks for the insight!
Hello! Have you been in Kazakhstan? 🇰🇿
Same here. I would love to visit Turkmenistan. It's like visiting one of the Gulf Arab countries
please refer everything back to yourself. Thanks.
No need of lockdown in Ashgabat.
They still claim they have no COVID cases.

this country looks very special! like isolated, but very interesting! all the istan-countries are special! nature beauty climate food people! I hope to visit them!
I’m from Afghanistan but Turkmenistan interests me so much I wanna visit one day
Thanks for sharing! When travelling to Turkmenistan, is it compulsory to go in a group or use a guide, or is it possible to arrive, stay in a hotel and take care of your own itinerary?
This monuments are energy harvesting machines. Great video!
I thought so. That's a real "smart city" love it.
Glad you went there! It IS the best capital city ever!
After looking on google earth I definitely think this is a city of free energy for the future. U see the sacred geometry being carved into the land like grid patterns. The way alot of the buildings are layed out with the landscaping looks like computer motherboard components or something very symmetrical for the purpose of utilizing electromagnetic energy that comes from the aether. This kind of free energy harvesting and distribution was utilized by the tartairan empire of old. Look into the mudflood tartairan empire and if you don't think this place has anything similar going on then show me how please.
many strange building, but the mosque is beautiful. great!
Strange country. This city is really creepy but it looks like a unique experience. Micheal's description of the place was spot on!
It looks like place in 1984's Orwell.
I’ve visited it and is very nice. And i m Western European. I really like that country. More tradition and decency than europe or america
This place is not creepy but looks like heaven I prefer ashgabad than any stupid new york and London crowdness is disgusting 🤮🤮.

Wow amazing! Like a pearl in Central Asia, beautiful, clean and instagramable. Huge love, greetings and respect from Indonesia to Turkmenistan. Highly recommended country to visit. Thanks for sharing, Katherine, so informative. I hope your channel continues to grow.
It is a very poor country with a dictatorial regime and a food ration system.
It's like North Korea and this video is proof. Thank you. Empty parks, empty sidewalks, empty streets. Only a lie for tourists. These places are not commonly used by residents.
You will see soon Turkmenistan still under construction. They will beat the Dubai soon in +30 years
Beautiful Turkmenistan 👍👍, Love from Indonesia
How was the language barrier overcome? Was there any time it felt awkward?
Thank you for this video ! - hello from Greece 🇬🇷

Hi, im watching from the Philippines 😍
How u made it to isolated and least visitet country??
Would someone here recommend travelling to Turkmenistan, especially Ashgabat and the Koped Dag Mountains south of it? Is it possible to hike there?
You are very beautiful and thanks for these Very beautiful images of Asgabat
Beautiful beautiful So beautiful video 👍👍👍
Love Turkmenistan from IRAN🇮🇷
Where is it located?
Very well, where are you both from?
I can’t help but notice how the Chinese tourists in the background are asking the guide whether they can use a VPN (since everything is banned in Turkmenistan lol)… When you know another language, you’re always distracted trying to understand what people in the background are talking about!
EDIT: Very interesting commentary! I’ve been to Turkmenistan too and am now writing my graduation thesis on Ashgabat (a beautiful city). The description was spot on - socialism (what I described as neo-Sovietism) and nationalism. A little bit of Islam too, but it’s definitely not an extremely relevant part of the national narrative!
4:53 lol gurbanguly would be ecstatic to hear all that although he would not comprehend anything
He really got into it with that explanation of the tomb ceiling 😂 🤣
Omg i just watched a documentary about the country Bhutan i googled the country because i was shocked i never heard of this country. well when i saw the world mapp i saw Turkmenistan and Kirgistand 2 countries i also never heard of before!!! this shocked me because i am very good in geography but i never learned about these 3 countries!! atleast not that i can remember!!! this is so fascinating to me!!! and who lives in those white apartements?? so many but i saw no people! i hope people live there lol or it whould be a waist.

Hi 👋 Eyyub Where are you from!?
the main reason that central Ashgabat is so empty is due to the incredibly high cost of living compared to the salaries
Anyone to blame for this?
It is because of nothing to do there .
How is Ashgabat night life?
Turmenistans markets like Philippine wet Market?
Where are the rest of the videos? Why did u stop posting, is everything okay?
Part 2 plss, im curious with this country
Hi. Do you have restriction for covid there?
they have zero reported covid-19 cases
Not out of this world, but of another time not long ago.

You’re definitely from Turkmenistan 😂
but no one lives there. People are cast to the side and live in mediocre houses.
I hope you are safe
Except that during soviet "totalitarian" regime most central asian countries lived better during this deranged era of dictators. In my own country, Tajikistan none of the cultural centers, public resorts, and other infrastructure properly functions. But yeah our capital has a giant fucking flagpole and a palace fit for our dear "leader". I and many other central asian would prefer soviet internationalism rather than divided nations threatening each other and abusing people in their little fiefdoms. No wonder literacy rates, birth rates, and constant emigration does not stop, people are treated worse than cattle. A "democratic" Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are no better, constantly upping their nationalist rhetoric and never addressing the growing social inequality. Not to say that the Soviet Union was a paradise or whatever (not even close), but it's undeniable that it was definitely better.
We are taught from a young age to praise our country and praise our national heroes and culture. Indoctrination to the made-up "greatness" of our ethnicity and the exceptional nature of our people. This is even more idiotic than constant anti-bourgeois and anti-western propaganda because it only divides and benefits our local aristocrats that are all too happy to build marble cities and lie that all people of Turkmenistan benefit from that. All central asians used to be able to at least visit each other's regions and learn, now most of us who can simply flee. This is to say, there is nothing "socialist" in this regime. This is what a peripheral capitalist nation looks like western people, some are worse, some are better, all are abysmal to their people, but I believe that someday Central Asia will offer a fitting democracy, without oligarchs and "businessmen".
Do they have beer?
just cam across your video Katherine! Did you guys recently visit Turkmenistan? I really find this country so unique and interesting haha would love to visit and film here. What was your experience like filming/vlogging it? Any issues with police? Also what company did you book with?
Thanks for watching! We went in fall 2019 before Covid started so I’m not sure what travel restrictions are like now. They let you film and take photos of everything except inside certain museums. However, there are some police around depending on where you are and you are not allowed to film/photograph them at all - if they catch you, they will make you delete it. Vlogging is easy because there are no people around and locals you may come across are really nice. I can directly connect you with my local tour guide on Instagram. Hope that info helps!!
