  • Mike checks out the tactical card play of Power Rangers, in advance of G.I. Joe Mission Critical (which uses many of the same system).

COMPONENTS - The miniatures and dice are large and chunky. The cards are pretty thin, so sleeving is recommended. The box for the core and expansions are LARGE, so if you collect a bunch it'll be tough to fit it all on shelves.

    Thanks Mike.
As much as I love minis, it was how I got into board gaming after all, I'd rather have standees and more cards than a ton of plastic.
Seems to be the way of the KS era though.
And some people can always bling out the game with their kids' toys like Bairnt did in the Transformers playthrough! lol

It must have worked out well for them for this game, because renegade is doing the exact same thing for the new G.I. Joe game

What i found to make the game great is to only have you fully lose is if every area is panicked. If you are defeated i.e run out of cards just return to the command center and reshuffle your cards and replenish your crystals after every battle instead of losing if you run out of crystals. Also if you are using 2 people at once make sure you use separate decks instead of 1. Enjoy!

I go the slightly opposite way and prefer the official variant that if you have 4 panicked locations, you lose all your crystals but can fight for one more round. But they both accomplish something similar :)

Thanks Mike! It's uncommon for me, but the price is at such a high tag that it is part of my evaluation of the "want to get" for this game, since as you said core box is pretty limited and you "have to" get expansions... I know it's always there, but here it is really more in my face than usual. I love the cards and combat, but I'll have to be purchase-deprived for long months to really press the trigger here, I'm afraid. Which is a shame, because the system rocks!

That's exactly why I snuck in some comments about the contents into the main review, even though usually I avoid that kind of stuff in my 5 points ;)

Hi Mike! Great video as usual.
Wondering if you’re ever going to review or make a playthrough video for Kickass. I know it’s an old one, but still a good one 😁
I’ve watched some other videos, but they’re never as good as yours.

Well dang, this looks really good! I don't remember it getting much buzz when it came out.
I'll try to find a discount copy online. Looks like there are a few...

@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, I don’t know why, but I think it’s a good game though. Yet… really hard to win, for what I see. Probably that is why it’s not well received 😅
I bought a copy on Amazon for $30 a few days ago, including shipping and importation fees, as I’m based in Mexico. So probably you could get a better price! Good luck!
I’ll stay tuned on this 😀
      Have a good day!

@@ludomaniakos I saw that in the comments on the game, but it looks like it's easily house-ruled to be a bit easier. Reminds me a lot of Power Rangers in that way :)

@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, house ruling seems fine, at least for the first gameplays. Then I’ll try the normal mode until I can win 😄
I’ll be looking forward for your video! 🙂 Honestly they’re the best!
Man, how I would love if you could try one of the games I’ve designed 😅

the player interaction just really made me not like it when I played it because everytime we went into battle I never really got to do anything. I can see this better at lower player counts but I played it at 4 and I did not have a fun time xD

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Рік тому

My first game was also at a high player count and was equally rough. It depends on your group and players though. Some people have no problem watching and giving suggestions even when they aren't directly involved.
Either way, I can fully recommend at 1-3 players... though I'd suggest 2-handing at 2-player. The official 2-player variant is a little wonky :)

For me, this game is fun despite itself :) Probably because of hand management, I'm a sucker for that.
One tactical "error" you made (from my limited experience): you should have let your rangers die more so you didn't have to move to the command center. In the penultimate round in particular I think you could have had 1 or 2 rangers die and get rid of the second monster.

Yeah, I always feel like defeat is a “failure “, but you are right. It’s just one more resource
