  • Hey hey, doods! Today we've got a full review of the Leatherman Free P2. I really like this thing. It's really meant for light to medium use, and is perfect for around the house or if you need to access the tools with one hand. And its fun to play with! It's clicky, smooth, and fidgety. Enjoy!

2nd note: The tools are a bit short. But that’s because of the shape of the pliers.
Had they not committed to that broad shape, there would have been addition space to lengthen the tools.
They attempted to address the short tools by increasing the length of the handles, as it’s a little bit longer than other leatherman’s.

I only have the Wingman which is pretty sweet but it'd sure be nice to try something new and something fidgety!

The Wingman is a good one! I feel the same way about my Rebar, it does everything I need it to do, but the Free P2 & P4 are the new fancy kid on the block. 😁

Lol. Everything you said gave no room for any conclusion but that free P2 is great.

Nice review! And nice tool! I’ve ordered a Wave but I return it and buy a Free P4. Although Wave has some better tools the modern look of the Free P4 shines apart from Wave which is very stiff, and the tools are hard to access with the fingernails..

Yeah if you want easy one hand use the Free series is the best! I upgraded to the Surge recently, it’s huge!

@@doodysdaggers Yes, I have it too. It’s a freakin’ monster! I use it rarely only at heavy duty work otherwise I avoid it. But the Free seems something a lot different from what they made.

I don’t see why they couldn’t be good for more than just lite use. They feel as sturdy as my charge and bond.

I believe I said light/medium use. Compared to the Surge, which is heavy duty.

@@doodysdaggers gotcha. I was watching other reviews and an article that said the pliers were actually the most robust set of pliers they make. Something to do with an elastomer spring inside the pliers, so idk.

I have the rev, looking to pick up a p2 soon ❤

That’s a model that I want to pick up, but to be honest, not even to use around the house. I’ll use the Wave+ or Surge for that.
I’ll pick it up for 3 reasons:
    1) to check out & admire the engineering and design, which is off the charts for this design,
    2) fidget factor, and
    3) be an addition to my multitool collection
I believe the P4 has both a separate straight blade and sweated blade.
That’s the one I’d pick up.

I agree with you whole heartedly! It really is a marvel of engineering. I wonder how many separate parts are in it. A ton.
Interesting observation about the reason for the shorter tools too, I hadn’t noticed that. So they could have put a regular size plier head on it and had longer tools.
One day I’ll definitely get one, and yeah, it will be the P4 for sure.
