Great interview. Ronny is an educated thoughtful witty fellow. Personally I find it insulting that movie makers hadn’t progressed with the white lead thing before Crazy Rich Asians. Insane! Let’s hope we are on a roll now.
No offense but people call the united states of America "America" because it's the only country with America in its name. No other country in North, South, or Central America uses the word America in the Name of The Country. So yes, it is in fact fair to shorten its name to America.
@@saturdaymorninggaming5628 the book "How to Hide an Empire" explains it. Your explanation is off. Using the word America for one country is already offensive.
@@jaiditnon8528 my explanation is not off at all. It's factual. There is no other country in the World that uses the name America in its name. We are not the United States. We are the United States of America. There are a number of nations that are United groups of smaller nations or "states" but there is no other Nation know as America.
Interviewer - Do you ever cross the line in your own head? Ronny - 100% every day i cross the line.. anything you tell me i'm trying to think of a joke about it
great interview. awesome questions, very intelligent. always a funny and extremely smart Ronnie. he need to do a movie about being a lawyer from malaysia, that comes to america, and highlight the differences between how it’s done in other countries and america. i think there’s probably tons of jokes in the circumstance. i’m a music artist, but i write movies and anime, so right away, this would be a movie is would do. especially if it’s one main case, but multiple minor cases that are all different, to create great contrast, while definitely keeping people interested, but not too much to distract from the main case, or always interjecting the main cases to keep the theme present. i wish i could make this, i just basically wrote the movie here.
Christina Amanpour, I have been a fan, appreciate your international reporting I am glad you have an outlet for us to follow your program. Wishing you best health and more success.
@6:41 When Ronny realizes that the interviewer actually knows his stuff and begins to take him seriously, whereas I think @5:42 he was thinking, 'Can I take this guy seriously?' I think this was probably the best news interview I've watched with Ronny where you can see him really respect Hari for his astuteness and applying those answers his follow-ups.
Ronny is great. Thanks for the interview. Re Singapore and the movie, as entertaining as it is, Singapore is nothing like that. The people of Singapore are so nice and friendly and there is no snobbery. Bear in mind they have only become rich in the last 20 years. There is virtually no old money there, and the old money that does exist is not haughty. It may become that way but it isn’t now.
@@hilpha You remind me of coworkers who bring no value to a conversation by simply articulating the point of the previous speaker as if the rest of us did not understand the point being made by @Amilcar Schettni. I have not seen an interview in such a professional and well thought of manner. This interview was not looking for a cheap joke at all. You can tell he really respects comics and wants to see the inner thoughts of a professional comic. Comics are now becoming more important then ever because they are able to swing the way people think. Dave chappelle did a bit about female abortions and i think he changed the whole game on abortion and its being viewed. "if you can kill a baby i can atless abandon it". I hope this guy interviews more great comics because i like hearing this part of a comedy mind. Comics are like rappers. underrated for being smart. special brains.
His parents are fine with his career choice Either way he puts on a suit, stands up and talks to people, they can't be sure if he's making things up, but they listen to him anyway, and he gets paid a lot of money along the way
"The only way to accomplish that is to be, the New England Patriots". I am so glad I watched the whole thing! Been a huge Pats fan since before the Brady era. (And hanging in there now. Also watching Buks games but I digress) That's 1 of the best Patriots jokes I've heard and like most of his jokes on the money! Wish I had found this video earlier, since, well it's like all of 2020, let's just put a fork in it. But let's keep all the humor we can find!
Ronny Chieng: "Even this video right now probably got pushed to you through an algorithm." Hari Sreenivasan: "Right, right. They probably saw it because you already liked x and you already liked y. If you like Trevor Noah, you might like this conversation." Ronny Chieng: "Or if you like Harold and Kumar, you might like this interview." LMFAO
'Crazy Rich Asians' is celebrated for representing Asians in Hollywood, but the irony is that it doesn't represent the wonderful diversity of Asian ethnicities in Malaysia and Singapore.
Like Ronny, I was born in Malaysia, study high school or secondary school in Singapore, and went Canada in1989 to obtain my first degree in communication and follow by a journalism degree in the US. During those days when people heard that you are from Malaysia, they immediately associate Malaysia as Himalayas, or they might even believe that Malaysia is a part of Singapore. I even have people telling I must be amazed by all the tall brick buildings, as we have spend most of my life living on trees. But now in North America, most of the tree house resorts are regard as prime properties, back to nature theme.
He is so funny on Netflix, but I also really appreciate his honesty here.
Indian Host & Chinese guest in an English talk show... Asians are really kicking in!!!

Asian conquered the world. 🤪

Thanks for including an asian comedian, the Netflix show is a home run!
@C M if we has an Asian president I feel like Coronavirus would have never entered the country

Deym, breaking the fourth wall

This is how asians do it.. have a degree and become an actor.. hahhaha.. they have a planB all the time..
👍 true most of the time.
Having a degree is difficult for me though
So true
Why do you cut and paste this comment on any video of Ronny chieng
Yes,we always do~
Very fair interview. I enjoyed it. Ronny is "The Man"!
I like his jokes. They are the mirrors of what is going on in this country
Yeah left wing Democratic racism and this marginalization of all minorities.
Just discovered Ronny Chieng (I'm from Europe) and I immediately became a fan!
"If you like harold and Kumar, you might like this"😂
This guys got jokes man 👍
hahahah yes, though the teenagers who watch this probably would not have known what he (and we) were referring to!
Such a funny reference, Ronny is quick! ♥️😂♥️
@@LizzyArmogida yes that he is 😂
I am not sure the interviewer appreciated that quip.
Didn't hit me until a second later when they went with a wide shot of the two of them sitting there
Exciting to see him coming up, he's my Daily Show favorite!
Surprised no mention of International Student.
Finally an educated moderator, he says “ United States ‘ Thank you. America is a continent.

I loved him in Crazy Rich Asians and his stand up comedy is great.
Lol that harold and Kumar reference was amazing. He really got the journalist.🤣
