This is honestly one of the most wholesome channels on UA-cam. It's literally the only time that the "please subscribe" portion of the video doesn't annoy me at all. I catch myself trying to subscribe again even though I have been for years!! Thanks Dan! Keep em' coming!
Dan is my favorite prospector!! I love watching him. I really hope he finds so much gold that he needs to hire hundreds to help him mine it!! He totally deserves it!! He's such a nice guy!!
Why would they take the moss? Could the rain and snow melt carry enough gold to make it collect like in a river? Does a mineral claim even include rights to the vegetation? Just a curious mind asking.😊
Hahaha, I just realized something that would be really funny. Jason needs to put some big googly eyes on his rock crusher. OMNOMNOMNOM! Love the vids Dan, I love the variety of mining you do too, lots of gold mining stuff, but I also love your gem hunts and beach combing type stuff (Like the Jade hunts). Keep up with the amazing content!
Stopped at Tranquille River and it was closed to panning in September 2023 due to redd, lay areas. salmon eggs recently laid by Sockeye and Pinks. These fish swam a long way to get there and I support their protection even at my own disappointment. And huge travel inconvenience Tranquille may reopen after the salmon eggs hatch and the little fry start swimming back to the ocean. Thanks for the tip Dan. The gold will be there another day. Appreciate your tips and enthusiasm! Greg Oct 2023
Nice looking stuff there Dan .. Youll have to bring Cache and I there sometime and we'll break some rock for ya ... Love coming back from the field to find a new video out... ill be back on the premiere's this winter I promise :) Have fun out there... Be safe brother ..and maybe a camera at this claim to catch the claim jumpers is in order ;)
Hey Dan! I wanted to offer a thought I had while watching this video of beautiful looking ore! Could the button be 'smaller' because of taking samples only from the outside? Plus, if a claim jumper spent all that time scraping off the moss, perhaps they got the good outside ore? I sure hope you set up a trail cam. Why does everyone steal instead of working and paying for things? What a mess this world is in. I hope you are doing well and I'm sending blessings from Alabama ❤️
um 10 ton blue jade feathered serpents in hastings michigan is a good find Dan . yes i have tons of footage , on my channel . heritage site being declared on the site . many hundreds of smaller snake effigies in a jesuit pit with white temples in 15 foot of sandy clay . good find indeed lol .
Can those shaking trays be adjusted for other minerals? Like, if you were to change the slope or vibration rate to allow a lower threshold of mineral density to fall out.
Dan I would like for you to tell us financially what these claims cost. And then do you make a percentage when someone mines or do they just buy you out?
Dan, great to see a surprise vlog and with another familiar guy, can't wait till the Dream Claim starts producing..... between you and his new claim someone will be providing the opportunity for those Prospectors Beards to grow! Lol! ⚒️💪🤠
In the last video you were saying it was illegal to run silt back into the creek from prospecting for gold. How does that not pertain to you panning in the creek directly putting silt into the creek? Is silt from panning not the same as silt from high banking? Just wondering?
Hope you find UV lamp somewhere and test your samples to see if that will help spot it in the mine and elsewhere. Not gold metal, but the rock that contains the gold should be showing up. I have both High freq UV and black light low freq myself.
Hi Dan! Just started watching your channel. Great content! I am also on Van Isl. just purchased some panning equipment along with a small foldable sluice. Was wondering where I can find the rules about panning and sluicing on the island ? Want to make sure I’m not panning other people’s claims and make sure I’m doing everything correctly. Let me know if you have my insight :) Cheers!
I knew there wouldn't be much gold when I saw that the video was only 12 minutes long😂 Great video anyway! I look forward to the regular long form ones that you usually put out. Also was surprised to get a little ball of silver in one of your paydirt bags! Thanks for what you do!
That's too bad, Dan. Such an easy to access vein. Truthfully, there likely wasn't another answer as to why it was abandoned. It could possibly get better deeper in, but not likely. And it would cost to find out.
Dan I remember you telling us about placer claims are one thing and hard rock claims are another in your neck of the woods. Do you have both on this claim?
I love these videos, makes me wish I lived in Canada instead of the U.S. Hell if you were hiring, I would drop everything move out there and shovel dirt 14 hours a day. You'd have to ask me to stop, man I wish I could work in this field.
Dan it would make an awesome video if you could get somebody in to core sample it. With you only taking samples from the surface, a lot of the gold could have been eroded or washed away. Not only would a core sample be a valuable asset tool allot of subscribers would love to see how that's done.
Dan didn't you find these mines after you bought the placer claim? You're doing good for yourself and for the people learning from your great video's, thanks Dan!
You need to test the actual pay streak in the mine. If there was anything good outside the mine there would be an adit there already. The old timers for sure already checked what you just did. I know you already know that though just not sure why you didnt explain that in the video?
Also most of the outside minerals could have leached down into the vein. Could be a lot richer the further from the surface you are. Don't give up on it yet. Good luck!!!
I have seen raccoons pull back so much moss off of rocks looking for grubs. I watched a family of raccoons completely clean a whole hillside. One day it was completely covered in moss. Two days later it was completely barren and all the moss was on the ground.
If someone jumps on your claim what happens with insurance? If they destroy the mine is that covered? What about the Ore thats taken how does that get valued and accounted for. Seems like a total "mine" field. lol
Are such adits and their surrounding areas clearly marked as claimed? I don't see any warning signs and/or markings on the rocks nor in the area of the entrance and the seam.
I would b putting some trail cams up for real u can tell that somebody has taken a lot of time to remove that moss and if they uncovered that area then they have a pretty good knowledge of what they are doing and looking for
@Dan Hurd as much as I enjoy you're videos I would be much happyer if you were to use power tools with BOTH hands not one on the power tool and the other on the camera.... use both hands and use a tripod for the camera if needed but for the love of god use both hands on power tools.
Could you link your last big find? I only see vids from you with less than 100 bucks worth, not including vids that you are on other peoples sites I mean...
So the American river has flaky big gold, and I noticed my sluice couldn't even necessarily capture it all. Maybe if it was adjustable, anyways also the gold looks like a silver alloy or pyrite flakes, but I know its not pyrite
I'm sure you do have it clearly marked, but in case not ya might wanna. I don't know the legalities of claim jumping I just know it was a thing that got many people un-alived for doing so in the past if they were caught. Hope your able to get your claim a bit more well secured Dan! sorry to see someone do that too you :(
There was always something tickling my brain about that. Don't worry it's a high compliment. Friends of mine make appearances in the books. I always like to think I was the inspiration for CMOT Dibbler.
Dan has quite a few claims and he doesn't visit them all every year because he needs to mine the ones that make money like the ocean picture stone, to pay for the other claims. So that would be a lot of trail cams where the battery could die long before he catches anyone, and that assumes that person could be identified anyway.

Hey Dan, Maybe you should put out some trail cams to find out who's been working the claim. That would really tick me off too!
He has them on his claims. He doesn't always say it and never shows them.
But yeah he has caught claim jumpers here in person so he has them up.
Why would they take the moss? Could the rain and snow melt carry enough gold to make it collect like in a river? Does a mineral claim even include rights to the vegetation? Just a curious mind asking.😊
@@vicferrari9380miners moss is called that for a reason...
@@vicferrari9380 Moss can capture gold just like a sluice box will capture it.

we keep saying that
I never tire of your adventures. Dan your outlook is so optimistic I find myself constantly rooting for you to hit the new mother load.

His kids have to be so fortunate to have a dad like that!
Tip from an old ex Haud carrier (masonry) its easier to carry two buckets of equal weight than one. Your back will thank me later.
Dan thank you for the beauty of gold. Wholesome entertainment for my family.
NICE INTRO!!! IS DIFFERENT!!! Thanks Dan for always giving us suprises!
Hi Dan love your content would love to explore and prospect with you keep up the good work
Thanks Dan!
Enjoy the informative and educational videos!
Great finds, even if they didn't quite pan out as well as hoped.
Thanks for sharing.
🙏❤️🌲
Cool video. I’m glad you found something. That means there’s really gold further down the vein.
I am so jealous of your lifestyle Dan! 😭
However I hope you are incredibly successful.

That’s awesome. I own a claim north of your Fraser claims and always looking forward to what you’re finding
Can't say from my screen... but it sure as hell gonna be FUN to watch
Tuesday night Dan Herd. You TV is getting better all the time. 👍

great video, and I am glad you worked mount baker mining into it. NICE
Have to say, that's an ingenious kiln design he has going there!
You guys are a hot mix !!!, so exciting !!!
For those who are curious, the term Dan is using to describe the areas he is mining in is "adit."

Yes. Jason sells them for copper reclamation from electronic scrap as well.
@@nunyabisnass1141 that's pretty cool! I'm not looking to buy one, but I just had that question pop into my head and wondered if it could work
Dan I would like for you to tell us financially what these claims cost. And then do you make a percentage when someone mines or do they just buy you out?
I asked that once, although I forgot which claim. I believe he says the rights cost him $10K.

Bonus video this week nice.
Your phone is giving a really good picture!
So 1 gram per ton is not real great. How many grams per ton should it be to mine it?
Great video!

Tuesday drop is so welcomed . Is it legal to use insecticide for the spiders?
You have to dispose of them by eating them, to not leave the body behind. It's better to smash them
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
its another perfect o DAN ,WHOS running your movie project mgr ,well done this will be noted.....GEN public thank you hurd
Nice thanks for sharing this six stars
is there a website or something that shows where claims are and aren't in BC so that a person won't accidentally claim jump??
You should dissolve all of the extra rock around good gold ore that you find and look at the structure afterwards
I love when there is a pirates in the quartz

happy drilling dan.👍👍👍👍👍

Have you looked at pictures of the Waihi Gold mine, in North Island, Kiwiland,
It would be an interesting visit inside.
Good video Dan, are there still hundreds of available claims in BC.?
Dan I remember you telling us about placer claims are one thing and hard rock claims are another in your neck of the woods.
Do you have both on this claim?
Good evening from Copperhill Tn.
Good luck!
What can you do to prevent claim jumpers? Is it just trail cams? Seems like it would be really difficult to prevent people from sneaking in.
Did you do any sort of scaling in the adit before starting to drill?
I love these videos, makes me wish I lived in Canada instead of the U.S. Hell if you were hiring, I would drop everything move out there and shovel dirt 14 hours a day. You'd have to ask me to stop, man I wish I could work in this field.

Said it before but really someone needs to sluice that ground under the crusher some time!
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought I hope Jason's in this
Looks like jumping that claim is no big deal... Sorry Dan...Your never say die attitude is addicting so thank you!
You mentioned silver on the last video from here. How does that act different than gold if you are panning? Does it come up to the edge like gold?
so if you find good gold amounts, do you hire a mining company? or do you do it yourself? or just sell it after assey?
Dan didn't you find these mines after you bought the placer claim? You're doing good for yourself and for the people learning from your great video's, thanks Dan!
Watching from philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Better luck next time Dan
Nice dan im sure theres a trail cam close by now
How late in the Fall is Jason's mine available? Seems like it's pretty high (elevation wise).
Bug bombs Dan a lot of bug bombs!!
Do you have to export your rocks to go visit out southern brethren then reimport what you bring back?
You need to test the actual pay streak in the mine. If there was anything good outside the mine there would be an adit there already. The old timers for sure already checked what you just did. I know you already know that though just not sure why you didnt explain that in the video?

Some of that area looks like u could maybe find some good size nuggets or specimens also with ur metal detector
Hello again from Australia humble opal miner here ................we call claim jumpers ratters here they are not looked upon kindly
How do you "protect" your claims if being looted?
Gun.
Put some trail cams up it catch those claim jumpers
Woo!! 🎉
Yes Dan. You like to get your rocks off Hope you find the money
I would put up some trail cameras
Other prospector trying to steal your gold?
There's no narcissistic opportunist in this world, you crazy
Anywhere along the Fraser, you can count on claim jumpers.
AWESOME!
You should invest in some trail cameras. Worth the money to save the claim and catch whoever is doing it
Bowling with boulder's.
I would b putting some trail cams up for real u can tell that somebody has taken a lot of time to remove that moss and if they uncovered that area then they have a pretty good knowledge of what they are doing and looking for
a lot of mines were closed due toww2 and never re opened.
AU let's go
what was the yield?
