    Hi! Speaking as someone with quite an extensive knowledge of gemstones:
    1. Those rubies aren’t for watches - they are faceted, and in such a way that they maximise carat weight. I am very familiar with this shape, it is generally considered a low quality cut, but probably means that the material is generally valuable.
    2. While those white gems that aren’t diamonds, could be cz, it’s very possible they are white sapphire, a common alternative to diamond.
    3. If you take these gems to a jeweller with any kind of gemology equipment they will be able to tell you exactly what each gem is, and I think it’s likely that not many are cz
    Very cool video :)

    The little rubys are called balance gems or jewel bearings. They are used in watches as pivots to reduce friction on rotating parts.

    I spent a year working at a commercial tourist attraction gold mine in N.C. some years ago. Spending every day panning was great, and we had an east coast gold vein on site, so we also had a very large wash plant more on the scale of the ones you see on TV. We would bring out 20-30 ounces a season all told, and we didn't track what the tourists found or what staff found on days off and didn't mention either. Good times. Not getting rich, but having the experience of a lifetime. Your idea to hit sidewalks in NY or really any major city is genius.
    Also you talk about jeweler clothing and aprons spilling dust, but honestly I bet you are panning decades of jewelers and metal smiths sweeping their shop floors out the front door with a broom too.

    This is a great video, good concept (not finished watching yet) but I gotta be honest... hunting for gold and gems in sidewalk cracks and hearing you explain how to do it is absolutely mindblowing. We use to cut mountains down to find some gemstones and minerals, now we hunt the cracks of city streets. That is slightly unsettling for some reason. This is really cool. Ever since the last video you did like this, I’ve been thinking about trying this in downtown Chicago on Jeweler’s Rowe.
    I do all kinds of treasure hunting. Metal detecting, coin roll hunting, garage sales, thrift stores… etc. that’s why I like this channel so much.
    One thing I like to do every spring is what I would call “snow larking” I guess. At big stores or shopping centers, they plow the parking lots every time it snows and they make big piles of snow at the end of the parking lot. In spring, when the snow melts down, all the dirt and debris and whatever else was picked up by the snow plows is left behind. I like to walk on the piles of melted snow to see what I can find. You have to get there just at the right time, before they clean it up.
    I have found all kinds of good stuff in the melting snow piles. Cash, coins, jewelry, purses, wallets, phones… anything people might drop in a parking lot. I think it’s especially good because when it’s snowing people are usually in a rush. I guess… and of course whatever is there gets concentrated by the snow plow dropping everything in one spot.
    It was my best kept little secret… maybe not now that I posted it here. But, hey everyone, have at it. There are many parking lots in Chicago.

      @@MetalDetectingDonna believe me when I say that it takes a lot of ground work finding the right places to go and it might be worth asking the owner/manager to strike up a deal for permission but, you'd need to make it a routine and stick to it faithfully. One year I collected over $800 in change alone. Used it to take weekend camping trip to gold country.
      All that change would have ended up in the landfill otherwise. Some people may be on it and others may not. That's what I mean by "doing your ground work". Same as asking permission to metal detect.
      Only difference here is I'll collect recycle at same time and it reduces volume of trash being dumped in landfill. Sort of a "win/win".

      This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs! Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20.
      Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 over the course of 1260+ years. Revelation 17 confirms that the beast is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God.
      Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!

There is a guy I watched on YT that searches creeks near St. Louis, Missouri and he has found flour gold out that way, although it is a very TINY amount for the work he puts into it, but he does find gold. Being further north, you may be able to find a tiny bit as well that was left over by glacier deposits.

      There is gold in Illinois (I found some recently, but not near you), but it is glacial gold dragged down from Canada in the glaciation periods. This means it is small gold that is sparse and only concentrated in streams that cut through the glacial till.
      I haven't found enough even to weigh yet, but I am sure you can find gold if you can find a stream with a hard packed bottom (like hard clay or maybe shale). I'd say since there is more gold in Wisconsin than Illinois you will probably have more luck north than I do.
      I've also heard there is some gold in northwest Illinois/northeastern Iowa.

      @@chasingplastic6285 I will say it took me 5 days of panning a few hours a day before I found the spot I am on with gold. So don't give up right away if you don't find anything.
      For the creek I am in the indicators were lead (from shotguns), garnets, and rust/iron. I just stayed at the spot where I was finding loads of lead and finally found my first gold.

    The rubies inside watches are synthetic rubies and are extremely small. You'd never see them with the naked eye in dirt like that. I'm a watchmaker. That all is an unbelievable score! Good job!

    • @J.DeLaPoer
      @J.DeLaPoer 2 роки тому +3

      Also a watchmaker here. What stood out to me is that watch movement jewels are more like little micro hockey pucks with holes through their centers 99% of the time. Like perfectly smooth little rings almost, other than the capstones and even then.... You'll never see these big, facet-cut cabochon style rubies in a watch.
      Some of the really early pocket watches did use relatively huge, natural diamonds as balance capstones though!

    • @bed562
      @bed562 2 роки тому

      well i took basic jewelry making and i can tell u watches dont crack...thats a weld i think that seals it. like swiss made watches and rolexs, not solder.
      those gems are fully mounted, ive seen it. they do not fall out..only fakes and its hard to tell here in california. the rain washes that shit right off the street if it were real diamonds or gems...as the street divide is too metric and small.
      i think watches in the industry are far more expensive and complicated than jewelry...those diamonds are insured i think. like rolex's...
      the term ur thinking of is fabricated...also a jewelry making term. you have fabricated diamonds nowadays too...

      Its probably more likely you pan more gold here in the city than you are out somewhere like iowa or anywhere midwest just because of the VAST amount of gold and jewelry in general that flow in and out every day, every hour on these streets.
