In the comments below, you pointed out that I was wrong because I said that Europe is boring. You asked me to understand your point of view, but it looks like most of you cannot accept mine! I did not say that riding around Europe is bad, just said that I am not going to do it anymore! We all look for different activities on our trips. All the best!
I agree with your POV on Europe, this is fine, this is yours. Anyway I'd skip Russia for very different reason - it is not a good time to leave there any single $.
10 years motorbike riding in India, not a single boring day. Now, One month of riding in Germany,Netherlands,Belgium and I am not interested in taking the bike out anymore besides when I use it for going to work.
I agree with what you are saying but just from the other side of the pond. Here in America we have beautiful nature and parks, tens of thousands maybe hundreds of thousands of miles of dirt roads, back country discovery routes (BDR’s) etc… but after awhile, North American mountain ranges and forests all start to get kind of boring. We have no castles or ruins or anything that captures the imagination. For me as an American, riding through Western Europe or the Balkans and stumbling onto old churches or ruins is the gem piece of an adventure.
It is simple - everyone is fed up with his home at some point and wants to go and be somewhere else 🙂It does not matter where you live, you just always seek something different, it is in the human nature
I am a Malaysian and have gone on a RTW ride in 2016 till 2019, and the usa is the only country that denied me a visitor visa. I have visited the usa a few times prior to my retirement and my brother stays in LV. I shipped home the motorcycle from Veracruz in Mexico because l could not ride to Alaska even though we have a Canada visa. I believe they deny me a visa because l visited Iran twice, Pakistan and Sudan on my RTW ride. Anyway, l encountered better experience in Iran, Sudan and Pakistan rather than usa which l have visited before. I am now a bad ambassador for usa after realising how much of hardship and killings done to the rest of the other fellow poor humans.
@@Wy9083 I’m sorry to hear that. Geopolitics and governments not getting along usually doesn’t represent interactions between each others citizens. As an American I would love to go to Iran and Pakistan but unfortunately my government has ruined that for me. I was always under the impression that Malaysia and the USA were friendly towards each other. It’s shameful that you were denied access just because you visited Iran. Apologies for your trip being ruined.
I'm stuck in Australia. I've got plenty of "adventure", but it's just slogging through soft dirt for thousands of km of bloody nothing. I can see koalas, kangaroos and gum trees while I'm walking the dog, I don't need to ride through 5000 km of deep sand to see the same things. But in Europe you're connected by land to India, China, through to the rest of SE asia, all of the Middle East, all of Africa, Russia, the Stans and it requires nothing more than simply riding out of your driveway with your passport and a credit card. Yet here you are going "I'm bored"
100% agree. I am stuck in Panama, beautiful but tiny and with a width of only 86kms and a length of 500kms Ive covered almost 95% of the country in one year. I would love to ride down to South America but with the Darien Gap being so dangerous and impenetrable basically (unless you do it by foot and risk your life), Im stuck here. You can of course put the bike in a container and pay 1,000 bucks and have it shipped to colombia by air but I simply would love to ride… It’s all subjective at the end. Everyone always wants what others have and viceversa…
Depending on which passport you have :-) In some cases, visa & moto insurance will drink your blood. But if you travel within Shenghen zone, it is no hassle at all (one of my plans).
@@Murad.bn2 the Schengen Area should keep anyone happy for a long time. Desert, tundra, mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches, forest, a hundred languages, culture going back 10,000 years. Not like being in Panama the way @Oldman.Roaming is!
@@gasdivewe tend to forget what a diverse place Europe is. From travelwise Schengen makes it a dream but for us living in a borderless area such as Schengen other European countries in the Balkans give easy access. From Budapest to Albania you can ride in a long day crossing 3 non Eu borders…each taking few minutes.
@@laszlomolnar8121 oh yes, as french living in HU, this is a great place to ride around bg, ro, al, nm, tk, Russia etc.... it all depends of riding... It would be boring for me take roads and roads when exploring western countries I used to be and know. except double tracks and trails like the TET, ok you can't really deep backcountry. Things are crazy expensive, for 3 days in Norway I can ride 20 days in Russia, and traveler welcome culture is lost since long time ago. Doesn't mean people won't help you but nothing compared to countries i already mentioned. But nothing compared to off road exploring Serbia, Montenegro, etc.... that said, with a big double sport bike, Schengen is a must and tarmac twisting roads are fun. All about money, bike, and mainly the targets, if you want to play the tourist and spend time seeing human architecture you could do at 85 years old on a bus tour.... Main topic is often forgotten ; we ride a motorbike, not a car... So, at the end, we can have fun everywhere, as long as bike handling is fun ....
Oh yes it´s boring in Europe - not to take care of passport, boarder facilities, filling out many papers, it´s boring to ride on good streets, have always good food wherever you go, to get spare parts everywhere - it´s boring to have hospitals everywhere with good doctors who can help if you fall down... oh yes its all boring... a little sarcastic view, but for me the most stressless way to enjoy motorcycle riding - of course more or less the same culture, but whenever I see a video of e.g. India (Ichy boots, Marc Travels), I will never drive there - so many people everywhere, even in small towns! Terrible - thats no adventure, thats pure stress. On my over 500 thousand kilometers, I have been travelling throughout Europe and can still find new roads or enjoy returnig to places where I was 20 years ago... I can understand you a little bit, but you are restless one for me - always on the road, never to find real resting times. But man, I like your videos (also if they are not from Europe 🙂 ) - enjoy your life trip. 👍👍
Agree. It is his own chanel. He can say whatever he wants. If we dont like - we dont watch. In times when russia occupies free country in 21st., in times when Ukraine fights for his own countries indenepdance, I can not accept any trip to russia and even more - to advertise the trip. Russia is an evil state and should be treated as one for every normal person, especially if that person rides a motorcycle...
@@gatisspetersonss yeah okay, but what does a rider have to do with the government of a country? Many citizens of russia don't have anything to do with the government either. You say russia is evil state, fair enough. But people who side eith russia dont think its evil, so its simply a subjective statement blocking a judgement. What does magadan or any place in russia have to do with the decisions of the government? And what do you as a tourist, somebody who wants to travel, have to do with russian government? Are you going there to ride or to express your opinions? If i have to take an example, most citizens of usa, you know, the ones who dont shut up about "freedom" and all, how low is their voter turnout? When usa citizens don't want much to do with their own government, what does having an opinion do about some other country's government? I could say the same for china. Yeah the government is......well there's not much to say that hasnt already been said. But if i were to go to china tomorrow, would i be going there to explore culture, the landscape, the architecture, etc, or would i go there to protest? You tell me.
Riding very close to my hometown! Right now my wife and i are in the Dolomites riding TET on our two Honda Transalp 600. 2 years ago we tried on 1150GS. My wife was pilion. We failed. Now we are back both on Transalps and we are enjoying every bit of it. But in the long run we are working on the plans of continuing our around the world trip which we started in a van in 2018. Covid stopped us 2020. Soon we will be ready to start again. This time on motorcycles. You are a big inspiration for us! Looking forward to your South America trip! Maybe next time when you pass through Austria we can meet. This time unfortunatly we are not at home. All the best, safe Travels and God bless!
We are in Dolomites too - but this time a family holiday with a rental car. We have only been here for about a week, but feel we have seen enough of the Dolomites to call it done. Yes, I'd have preferred to have done this on my bike as there a re some lovely roads. Ride safe.
I came to Europe from a totally different perspective. I lived in Cambodia for 15 years and had amazing adventures running 4WD adventure tours and many exciting moto tours in Asia on adventure bikes, dirt bikes and scooters. Moving back to UK in 2016 I found 2 wheel adventures of a different kind. After Asia, Europe seemed exotic, new and exciting; especially the Balkans; the new normal. After the chaos in Cambodia and Vietnam Europe did seem almost too easy. For the last few years I have re-discovered India on 2 wheels. i had3 motorbike solo tours in India covering a very large part of the county and a 4th coming soon. I do realise like you. that being outside ones comfort zone is so exciting. Having said that i will continue to ride in Europe in summer and enjoy.
the circle of adventure is now closed in Europe. I totally agree with the spirit that your words contain. Of course your posts are not for everyone. I will continue to follow you with pleasure. Bye
The reason I do my trips is not really adventure. I'm in search of beauty. I want to see beautiful things, some of which are hard or impossible to reach by car. But I totally get your point, taking into account your approach to traveling. Ride safe, cheers from a fellow T700 rider...
Just dropping you a quick note to say thank you. I am grateful that you take the time and make the effort to share your perspectives, knowledge, tips and experiences. All the best.
I think he is suffering from a loss of reality. Every TET in Bosnia, Italy, Greece, etc. has adventure potential. Even Sicily with Etna and the lava flows or Iceland are great. Even more exotic are the Azores or other islands in the Atlantic. So the statement that Europe has no adventure to offer is utter nonsense!
Those who have traveled extensively will understand his words. I’ve been all over the world, 75 countries and I completely understand him. Europe is like one big clean organised country. Try the same in South east Asia, or Central America, or Australia or Alaska or Uganda, Morocco, Philippines, Tahiti and you will then understand what adventure really is. People riding on roofs of buses, pirates shooting up surfing resorts, crocodiles trying to eat you from your tent, sharks, no English spoken anywhere, no fuel available for weeks, empty supermarkets, drinking water tanks with dead animals inside, passport and visa issues and I could go on what has happened to me, but I you probably wouldn’t believe me. Europe adventure…. Haha. Not really. And I’m born in Europe 😅
I ride in Europe only these days, simply because it's beautiful. If you've seen the whole world you realize, that Europe is the most beautiful of it all.
I respect your point of view. I've been fortunate to have travelled from the UK to most of the western countries of Europe in my life, but only once by motorcycle 2 weeks ago. It was a weird feeling of 'this is new and exciting!' but also 'I kinda understand everything', despite not really knowing French, German, Dutch and Belgian that much. There's a comfort, a safety, at least in the western parts of Europe, for someone like me. Now take me to Poland, Estonia or Hungary where their languages don't have the same roots as the countries I've been and I'll feel REALLY out of my personal comfort zone, but that will (if/when I get there?!) be an adventure for me. Having followed a few different adventurers around the world, I'd love to tour South America, but I think that's because of the comfort blanket of Spanish/Portuguese being spoken there. I don't know those well at all but I can pick bits up here and there. Whether I will have the ability in my lifetime to go there, or to Africa or the Far East, I don't know but for me at least language is a big thing. To each their own, ultimately. We can still enjoy the scenary, the changes of seasons and special memories of the first time we went somewhere but I do understand where you're coming from with the lack of adventure. I guess that's why a number of people are switching to small capacity bikes or scooters even to rekindle that sense of adventure within their own limits and budgets? I know my trip to the top of Scotland in April would be completely different on a little 125cc than my NC750X, but I still have a lot of that area of Scotland to discover for myself yet :) Ride safe and hope the weather fairs well for you! :)
Yeah, I totally get your point. In my case, there's a LOT of places to see yet. I get the same feeling when looking around the town I live in: all roads within over 100km already well known and familiar to me, no surprise, no thrill there anymore. And yep, there's the whole world waiting. Personally, I feel there's ton upon ton of places I'd love to see in Africa, in Latin America, in Asia. So many roads, so many places, so little time.
PS Speaking of adenture: in 2010 I've seen a shop with retired Army motorcycles in China. Think of old schoold BMW with a sidecar, stuff that China produced on license till the 60. I was in no position to try doing that, but the thought of buying one ( they were affordable, 32,000 RMB per piece ) and then ride it all the way to Europe. Your baggage in the sidecar, a camera on you and there you go.
Yes,I think you said it. To make the motorcycle adventure worthwhile,we have to go to new & exciting places. Far away(so we don't chicken out & go back home) then we need to stop somewhere & adjust to the ride & next day a new consciousness dawns & we carry on. But the same old places are not somehow worth it.
Oh you were in Iceland, Greece, Sweden, Norway, Finnland?! You join the Ardeche, the Cevennens the Pyrenäe s in France? You travel to Scotland and Ireland? You see the deepest Canyon in Europe in Montenegro, travell the old military Streets in Italy? Except of the Rainforrest you can find everything in Europe.
Youbfind everything in Europe, including the highest taxes (which brings high gas prices to the riders passing through) as well as the most *BIASED LAWS AGAINST BIKERS IN THE WORLD* ...
Don't forget Svalbard, Cyprus and Malta. The problem is that he does not see much on his trips. He just passes trough. I've been motorcycle camping in Europe since 1978 - often with a passenger - and still enjoyed my little 10 day trip to Harz this summer. It's a great way to meet other people from the EU and practice your languages. I'm 66 and just started exploring along the small roads around where I live. I never had time for that before. I suppose he needs new destinations to keep his viewers. I find him boring because he never really experiences anything. For some reason this title was presented to me by UA-cam. I clicked because I had forgotten who he was.
Hi, I am exactly in the same condition as you. I understand you. When you've seen most of the world (Africa, South and North America, Europe, Asia, Australia), it's difficult to find new places and challenges. That's why, for example, I will do Central America at the end of the year and Iceland next year.
You never said riding in Europe is bad, you just said there is no adventure. An analogy: I ride motorcycles for the pleasure of being on a motorcycle. I also am a technical dive instructor/cave diver who has been down to 100 meters/330 feet. I have also dove caves around the world. But at 66, I realized that although I enjoyed diving deep and in caves where there is no way to get to safety but after deco or back out of a hole, what I really enjoyed was just being underwater and having the skills to do these things, whether or not I do them at all. I now rarely need to go deeper than 30 meters because everything interesting is shallower than that depth. In fact, I don't need to go below 18 meters most places because what I enjoy is just being alone under the ocean with the fish. And sometimes, I even enjoy diving with friends. The same for my motorcycle. I just like to be on the bike. I also understand that each rider has his/her own reasons for riding. You just stated that you are not in the same mindset that I am in, and that is perfectly fine. Maybe someday you will be, or maybe for you, the journey isn't about the riding, it's about discovering new places, and for you, the bike is your chosen tool. I used to be like that, but I now feel that I can enjoy any place, because I just like to ride. Period. Enjoy.
It is similar for me, after having been to most European countries. After being to Romania, driving the Transalpina and Transfaragasan multiple times, getting within metres of wild bears on the road I ask myself too what is there left, that can top that? The answer for myself was to stop riding for now and focus on other things that feel like an adventure to me in my life. But I guess the urge to go and explore will be back sooner or later ;) Great video, as always.
I understand you. It is not only landscapes but also people and their culture. Although they are significant differences between a finish and a greek...enjoy your day Pavlin and viewers
100% agree. I have lived in the middle of Africa for 15 years and have to say I have seen everything and enjoyed it but have no desire to do any more safaris. It doesn’t mean I don’t like where I live, but time to get my kicks elsewhere. Loved your Turkey series by the way, I was there as a student and I really want to go back.
I've traveled Europe and the thing I experienced was a lack of remoteness. (I exclude Scandinavia) There are a lot of people crammed into a relatively small place and the place has centuries of over-engineered environmental control. (America is on the same path) Part of me appreciates the urbanity of Europe, though I would not want to ride a motorcycle there
It seems like this the curse of any true explorer... the constant need for more experiences, for more exploration, for more, just more... It is truly an addiction, a good one but still, you are addicted to explore, your brain needs it so you act accordingly. Safe travels Pavlin, cheers!
As an Aussie living in Europe, I get what you mean. It is truly beautiul in most parts of Europe, but adventure, it aint. Just like there is plenty of adventure in Australia for motorcycling - but if you want cultural/historical variety too, you have to go to another continent....Happy trails and good luck with organising the south america trip...personally, I am looking forward to riding parts of Africa, that's for sure.
For me, an adventure involves risks and possibility of failure. It means pushing your limits, instead of just touring around and having nothing to worry about. Thanks for your channel and its valuable info!
Keeping it new keeps things fresh, although I do find some comfort in familiarity sometimes. As long as i am on my bike I'm hapoy in most places. Ride safe 👍
I can understand your message Pavel. From my point of view, there are many nice places in France, Italy or Spain, but everything is more or less predictable, no adventure any more. I think there is still adventure on the Balkans (also part of Europe). That´s where I usually go with my bike to have fun. All the best to you !
Agreed. I just came back from my first Balkans trip, but except Bosnia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Romania it was mostly boring riding in too hot weather. Unfortunately we didn’t meet. But maybe next year in Latin America ✌️
European roads, weather and Geography are boring for a adventure rider. But perfect for touring riders. People in the comments should get the difference.
Agree 100%. People define adventure in different ways. For me (and probably Pavlin), adventure is getting out of your comfort zone. Europe, being the most civilised continent of the world, cannot offer you that. Sure there are many beautiful and different places to see, but all of them are under the umbrella of European culture.
For me it made a big difference riding "the same trips" alone vs. riding with pillion vs. riding together with fellow motocycle club members. The experience together and sharing them becomes the new adventure. Also, there is so many side roads, alp-roads to experience "off the beaten track". To discover these "unknown" roads and places requires research and planning, Google maps or Tomtom or Garmin will never suggest to go to such places.
Hi, i'm hasan turkish living in Belgium. I agree with you i understand your message. I have the opinion. Real adventure depends on what you expect, it is different for each one. Good luck for your next adventure, i can't wait to see your videos.
With open eyes, you can see the most unexpected. Like, for example, the yellow giraffe at 8:28 into the clip. (If you squint.) I'm in my third year with mc myself. 68 years old and largely unseen in Europe. Looking forward to following your adventures in South America!
I understand your position. It all depend on what you want front motorcycle "adventure". I wish you all the best views and meetings woth great people around the world. That why meanwhile, I will find another cozy small village in Europe with predictible nice people :) and get some rest in this chaotic world. Cheers. Ride safe.
The " raw and unpredictable" is what we, as adv riders, live for. Discovering a place for the very first time is simply the very best. It is also an addiction and one that I know well. After 84 countries, over six years and 260k km, I'm still in need of the drug.
I started watching you when you traveled to Mongolia with your friend. From those videos, I learned much more about the Asian part of Russia and Mongolia than from any other documentary. Iv agree Asia is a real adventure.
great video my friend! quick question. I am in Sweden. due to gregraphical location. how would you recommend to ship my motorcycle to the desired destination? i say this because every time i want to travel i have to cross sweden, Denmark etc. so a minimum of 1 days is just the same route. i ve seen large trucks full of adv bikes. seen adv bikes on ships, trains and airplane. but would love to know your suggestion based on your great experience.
First order a transport box tailored to your bike. It's optimal if you are lone rider wanted to travel worldwide. Call logistic companies. They do not transport bikes until you will pack it to a regular shape box. They will give you dimmentions limits. For a high adv bike there will be necessary to femove the front wheel when boxing but it's no big deal. Having the bike packed you can send it d2d everywhere. Platforms transporting multiple bikes are usually doing service for organized groups of travellers. You can stick to them but the main minus is you are addicted to someone's time.
Because it is contrary to your goal of seeing the whole world. Ok. But I have rented in Europe for 9 of the last 12 years and still enjoying the explore part. Made it into Hungary and Romania this summer. Will make it to the Carpathians next year I hope. Anyone from North America reading this, you want to ride in Europe for at least 2 weeks a year for the next few years and see if you can get board of it.
I agree with you! Sometimes too much civilisation takes out the raw experience of adventure. I think you’re just a different build then most adventure riders. Cheers!
Hi Pavlin, from what i've read in the past and more recently seen on social media like youtube south america is going to be awsome. Hopefully you've been brushing up on your spainsh ? Have a great time. 👍🏍
Yup, I understand and agree -- and it is true that western Europe is very expensive... I am a Swiss expat living in Malaysia and it is truly more adventurous to ride in Asia. Just learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable (the heat and humidity are a problem). I rode in India last year and it is difficult to beat India in terms of culture shock, challenging (chaotic?) traffic conditions, beautiful mountains... I'll always remember the eerie atmosphere of the early morning fog in February-March in those isolated Indian villages in Himachal Pradesh at 06:30 a.m. when life starts again - cows, dogs, men riding their bicycles and covered in big oversize blankets because of the cold, women carrying water and bags and all sorts of stuff, school buses start rolling and picking up school kids, cow dung left out to dry at the roadside, congested traffic in Amritsar and New Delhi, street vendors in Dehradun, man it is really a fantastic culture shock. I'll ride in India (and Thailand!) again asap.
I understand where you are coming from. I have ridden extensively around Australia and now find it boring. I have only ridden once in Europe, through several countries, and don’t need to see those countries again. That still leaves a few that I would like to visit - mainly Spain, the Balkans and Turkey (yes, I realise Turkey is hardly Europe). But my next planned trip is to India, just to get completely outside my comfort zone before old age brings me to my senses! Sadly, I have left it too late in life to do South America down to Ushuaia. Should have done that 10 years ago. Ride as many different places as you can, rather than same-old same-old just because it’s convenient.
I got nothing to prove. I ride every summer in Europe without a plan; each day an adventure - each moment it is time i set aside for myself; about me on my old loved motorcycle going on the best two lane roads i can find. I also adventure ride where ever i want in western US. It is absolutely epic. I like a good breakfast included in my room and a comfortable bed that does not have bed bugs. I do miss riding with friends - i also ride solo not because i want to but most folks i like just wont come with me. I'll be in going through Mexico this winter on the bike as i head to Panama. There will be plenty of borders to cross and challenges to play. Like i wrote i got nothing to prove and certainly do not have the added pressure to make a series of videos about me to impress others about me having nothing to prove.
I agree, I live in Australia and I've been everywhere in Australia, I'd love to ride in Europe, but I totally understand the perspective you mention. I went to China last year, not on a bike, but wow, so interesting.
It’s funny. I often think how lucky you are to be in middle of such a huge variety of cultures, languages and places to ride. I live in New Zealand and would love to have the options you have but what you say makes sense. We all need adventure in our lives
Wow!! I can only tell you my promise, if our paths cross you will be proven wrong after just a few hours of riding!! Many people who have traveled everywhere ( I have not) consider many sites in Europe like Turkey, Georgia, Portugal, Spain, France, England and Italy to start as absolutely fantastic! You have the ability to ride south into Spain or have your bike trailered cheaply to get into N.Africa..camping registrations in Europe and Africa are more liberal than N.America and Asia..a dual sport and a duffle bag and you are set!! My last trip to Europe I went to old growth forest in Poland and a expansive horse farm..it was all so beautiful felt in and out of crying while riding!! Albania is awesome!! I ride extensively in SW US and Baja Peninsula..I am never bored..I went last year through Texas and changed my trip to ride back and forth on the same road outside Alpine Texas near the university observatory telescope, I felt as if I entered a movie or was posing for a post card.. Went to a campground in Louisiana many campsites had individual docks that went out in the water .drank beer, listened to nature and watched the stars. In the morning I got woken up by some crazy church group that started singing and saying prayers using a bullhorn..I thought that was bad until they gave me food and drink that was only limited by the size of my stomach!! Rode in Germany w a group not far from Frankfort and we went into a mild mountainous area, absolutely beautiful and ended up at a park that had telephone poles mounted out in the lake w a cable running between so you can hook up and waterski all over.. when you are tired you let go swim to shore for a beer and bratwurst..if you are bored may I suggest you look for something completely different..get a bird or flower book and ride to try and bird watch..or see rare plants, flowers or insects..go to a rally?! Plan a trip to Bahia de Los Angeles and swim with the whales and camp next to your motorcycle for $7 dollars a day!!! Ride to Slovenia..go see Peter Sagan's new museum!! Go to Czech Republic or Romania and eat something special..
Pavlin, I usually fully support your stance (twin brothers in mind 😅), but classifying „Europe“ as if it were one homogeneous riding experience somewhat tarnishes your impeccable reputation as a critical and thorough thinker. From „The Rock“ (Gibtaltar), over the Pyrenees, down to the lowlands of the French Provence, over the Alps snd Dolomites, over to the wetlands of Czechia and Polands, crossing the Eastern Sea and up to the Baltics and Nordics. The landscape, traffic and road conditions change like a million times… and that’s only one of countless trajectories to choose from. To me you seem to confuse ‚boredom‘ with ‚reliability‘ (funny enough a topic you like to speak about when it comes to the machinery) -> Riding in Europe is not ‚boring‘, it is ‚reliable‘… a petrol station every 30-40 klicks at the very worst, road signs are present, clean and correct, changes to road conditions are usually announced, people mostly adhere to accountable, safe and friendly conduct in traffic… … and to me: Reliable = Desirable.
Fair enough, but I am different! All the places that you described are great and deserved to be seen, but what about after that? I need reliable motorcycle not destination!
@@motorcycleadventuresto each their own, my friend… still, characterizing such a diverse continent (10 million square kilometers to play with, I just had to look it up 😅) doesn’t do it justice to say the least. But hey, you have a wonderful and challenging South America trip ahead of you, maybe you will find more fulfillment there…
Beautiful views but I throughly understand. USA and NA is very diverse place. Offers a lot as you know. Now I have limited time and life to travel if at all. I want to see and experience new places and different cultures as much as possible. To see a couple I haven't been I must ride thousands of miles over already traveled, worked, lived areas of my past. All for a day or so of new lands which I already know what to expect and experience. Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland and the Russian border are where I want to go along with continuing my travels south of Central America to the bottom and maybe Antarctica. My goals are set and flexible. First to the frontline. Good vid Pavlin. Good fortune with your arraingments to ride in South America. All good.
🇦🇺 Geeez Pavel, I'd so like to have your problem. Stuck in Oz and champing at the bit to get back to Europe. Our country is only 270yo and not much old history as you have in Europe. Dont get me wrong, i love our outback and mountains but it is a totally different case with the old cultures and historical significance of Europe considering where we mostly came from. Anyhow, i still enjoy your vids and won't stop watching...🤙🦘🇦🇺
I agree after 40 years and many trips around Europe can stop being adventure . But now due to physical and mental health issues i just cant push myself. Theres still plenty of countries i have not seen in Europe and hope to see. If i travel out of Europe or Australia ( I've seen a lot of it now) now it will be short trips on a rental bike
I respect your opinion 100% but I enjoy the EU very much still, simply because where I live we have jungle, heat, rain, and 90% humidity all year. Simply a different type of experience or adventure for those who don’t have it. I enjoy the EU because its safe, the roads are mostly good and the weather is half of the year pleasant for confortable riding. I live in a country where I have ridden from point A to point Z many times and this is why I understand where you’re coming from. Im sure you will love Central America, make sure you do not miss the Andes Passes and the Patagonia in Argentina. Amazing! If you get to cross to Panama let me know and I can show you a bit about this beautiful country. Small but so awesome!
@Pavlin ... Nice vid and great explanation of your feelings. Also amazing to see the countryside you were riding through. I could almost have been like my "Back yard" in North Wales, UK
My first and learning trip was to norway - "the motocyclest paradise". It was so boring after getting used to views I could just driven the same home town streets. Second trip was solo to russia, to Murmansk without knowing even the language. Very nice trip and felt like adventurer in wild west and costing much less. Amazing experience. Will prolly never ever do a motorcycle trip to western-europe anymore.
Where are you from? And, I have found, over 40 years of visiting and living in Europe, that a small change in your route, especially in southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland, northern Italy, can make a tremendous difference in the feeling of the journey... So, sure, I really enjoy the USA southwest, but Europe has more cultural diversity, more road and scenery diversity, and is safer to drive in...but, your life is your own.
I have ridden RTW and I agree with you. Europe is too structured, culturally dead or fake, super expensive in most countries and a very tame adventure. People are not so welcoming and helpful unless you know them earlier. Asia, Africa and South America is the place to experience unexpected motorcycle adventures.
Im 33 ... and ive seen alot but not whole europe and i m thinking about south north america asia australia ... if u saw all eu so far...no reason to not go asap because life is short. Hope i see you once....i want to congrats you for everything in person . Cheers from Romania . Be safe
Maybe there would have been an advantage to make a video 'Why I ride outside Europe'. It is simply like this that Europe is 'better' developed (roads, infrastructure, hotels and so on) than the Congo is. And yes, many might believe there is more advanture in Congo and for others this would be too much. We should enjoy the good roads, infrastructure and hotels in Europe (even if this might come with costs). Some might see even an over development. I have the impression that good roads, good infrastructure and good hotels makes in our days too many people (I mean defenitively not you) surprisingly very unhappy and they complein every day more (jammern auf höchstem Niveau). These are most people who have never seen the Congo or countires alike. Have always a safe journey!
Many years ago I watched a TV documentary about an, I believe, African tribe. They lived at the foot of a mountain and never checked out what was on the other side. They saw no point in that. I truly believe these people were and are very, very wise! And I mean this seriously, not sarcasticly!
As I see this video, I’m waiting in Riga airport to fly back home in Texas, left my bike in storage until I have another chance to travel.. it’s my 4th (short 7-10 days) trips to Europe, so I can’t say I know much off it and I’m not saying I’m board of it but do agree with you that it is very predictable and beginning to consider other options like Rusia and or Ukraine… when I shipped my gs1200 to euro thought I would never get tired of it but seems like it’s human nature to always want some thing new and/or different.. just my 2 cents
You have ment that you are comming to South America and, I believe you are going to have a great esperience , I am from Brazil and have done some very interesting and different trips around.
Братишка, приключения и сюрпризы хороши, когда можешь выйти из них в безопасность. Два года назад ко мне в дом ехал танк. Сюрприз и удивительное приключение,которое не нужно. Австрия и Северная Италия лучшие для райдера.
I'm on day 105 of my tour around Europe, including three weeks in Ukraine to duck out of Schengen. Albania and Romania are my favorites so far. I'm in Poland right now, headed to Czechia in a few days then on to Austria and Switzerland for brutal hotel prices, but hopefully great roads. I rode in Columbia and Ecuador and enjoyed them both, but Colombia is challenging riding as all the great places to go are high in the mountains on rough roads. Ecuador is much more civilized and you get to fly to the Galapagos. SE Asia is easy to ride, just rent a scooter! Do not got to Nepal in the rainy season, the roads are impassable. In India the drivers WILL try to kill you. South Africa is great to ride and safe as long as you don't go near a township.
My question to you is " What is the definition of adventure?". Its for everyone different way to spent time. I think what you trying to tell us. Maybe Europa is boring in certain parts, but I think that counts also for other countries like Poland, Romania or Russia. In the end it is always personal. So respect for your opinion.
Hard for me to take trips over 1000km because, between work and postgraduate school, I just cannot afford to take a week off to do it. Some people can spend 2 days riding non-stop to cover that distance, but to me it's pointless and my ageing body can't take it in our hot climate.
Everyone has different perspectives. For me the preference is too travel where not everyone can go out in simpler terms where a car won't go. Mountain passes and faraway places.
For the first time in many years I would DISAGREE with you Pavlin. Some people walk every day, some people run everyday some people ride their bike on long distances and preferabily alone. After a couple years you start truely opening your eyes and start contemplating the world. You finally meet with yourself again and start seeing what the nature / god has to offer. The type of bike, the equipment, the location becomes a detail...
You say Europe is always the same - but to be honest - the same is true for pretty much all parts of the world. It is the way you see the world - everything in the world is different and interessting - I spent some time in different parts - living in different cities and was also traveling quite a bit in my life. As I was traveling with bicycle on much slower pace - I discovered a spain that is extremly interesting and comparable to russia around novosibirsk... where I could also spent some time. I like EVERY Place - and most important thing is - that you just do it... ride or travel and get to know the world.
Come to South America, nice native places to see, forests, jungles, deserts, ice, etc. Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia is superb, lots of foreigners around in pick ups and motorbikes.
@@motorcycleadventures Anything you need down here pls let me know. In December 2024 I will leave for a trip from Rio de Janeiro to Bariloche and via route 40 to, Perito Moreno, El Chalten, El Calafate, Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas and Ushuaia, then back through route 3 Rio Gallegos, Comodoro Rivadavia, Puerto Madryn, Bahia Blanca en Buenos Aires and back to Rio. The difference is that I will go by car with my wife as we often do. Take care.
Have to agree with you Pavlin Europe has become very boring for me and my wife I think it is to easy to travel without much preparation in europe I like to stop at borders and fix a problem with language and paperwork which you do not get in europe anymore Morocco used to be an adventure but to much tarmac and outside investment is spoiling the adventure Maybe we are a victim of the Adventure success story Keep doing what you are doing as you do it well
Each to his or her own. But is this worth a video Pavlin? Don't fall into the trap of making a video for the sake of it. Your channel has been down to earth and solid and fun until recently, don't spoil it please.
Blessed are those that are happy with what they have. Yes, it is good to have the occasional exotic adventure. But it is not good to continuously be running after new experiences out of boredom for what you have.
I do understand your viewpoint. It is similar to our experience in America. The highways all look the same, and the same exits with the same McDonald's, same gas stations, etc. And one cannot tell one town from another, because they all look similar (exceptions like NYC are irrelevant). I think you are seeking a bit of risk in your riding. Africa, South and SE Asia, S America riding is super thrilling and in some places suicidal 😅
You want new trails, new countries, new adventures. Fair enough. Europe is different from let's say Africa. Good luck in South America. Hope you find what you're looking for. Happy rides, Günter/Nürnberg
Europe is dead, too expensive, and riding a gasoline powered bike is almost a crime, green maffia is boss in Europe
Exactly, to each their own
It is simple - everyone is fed up with his home at some point and wants to go and be somewhere else 🙂It does not matter where you live, you just always seek something different, it is in the human nature
Sounds like you should go back to Iran or Pakistan then.@@Wy9083
This is my opinion. Do whatever you like!
I whole heartly disagree. Each to your own. As your said, your trip in Russia is not for everyone, the same can be said for Europe.
Yeah, you're right. Hes only sharing his own choices, there's no need for agreement or disagreement there.
@@gatisspetersonssjust curious, ch country are you from?
I think and feel the same, after many, many years of travelling in all the countries of Europe I feel something near to your argues.
Ride safe.
Trsnsalps rock! I had a 600 in Cambodia for several yearr and had some of my best moto adventures on it.
I own a 600 xl from '96, I love it!
I own a 600 xl from '96, I love it!
Happy days! We just moved back to the UK after 20 years in kampot. Thete used to be some excellent fun roads there a while back.
I think you shared great thoughts - enjoying is possible everywhere and contrasts come from what you are used to
the circle of adventure is now closed in Europe. I totally agree with the spirit that your words contain. Of course your posts are not for everyone. I will continue to follow you with pleasure. Bye
You go where your heart takes you . where the journey charges your spirit and makes you
feel grateful for every new picture through your eyes.
I appreciate that!
"there is no adventure in Europe" - are you so crazy or just playing a game with your audience?
@@superwag634 Exactly... Europe is nice, but it is too nice... and organized... and easy... and perfect... and clean 🙂
@Gecata80 Not for much longer thanks to mass migration.
@@superwag634why don't you try east Ukraine for a little adventure? Is still Europe!
I ride in Indonesia and have done since 2008. EVERY day is an adventure. There is little predictability. That's what I love about it.
I know my trip to the top of Scotland in April would be completely different on a little 125cc than my NC750X, but I still have a lot of that area of Scotland to discover for myself yet :)
Ride safe and hope the weather fairs well for you!
Spot on Pavel. Europe is like one big organised country. Some of us enjoy the disarray of less developed places
There's no right or wrong way in motorcycling, we all do what gives us the most pleasure and satisfaction
I clicked because I had forgotten who he was.
man please come on :) I live in Sweden here is nothing compare to other country's but Norway is a other level
Period. Enjoy.
Yes, things change with years. Thanks for sharing!
But I guess the urge to go and explore will be back sooner or later ;)
Great video, as always.
Thanks for sharing!
I've traveled Europe and the thing I experienced was a lack of remoteness. (I exclude Scandinavia) There are a lot of people crammed into a relatively small place and the place has centuries of over-engineered environmental control. (America is on the same path) Part of me appreciates the urbanity of Europe, though I would not want to ride a motorcycle there
I understand yout point, I'm still in the beginning of my trips and want to explore more of europe in the next years🤙
It seems like this the curse of any true explorer... the constant need for more experiences, for more exploration, for more, just more... It is truly an addiction, a good one but still, you are addicted to explore, your brain needs it so you act accordingly. Safe travels Pavlin, cheers!
what's your opinion on the TET trails in europe? Heard good things about balkans, spain, italy
ua-cam.com/video/pF3Il42Gf58/v-deo.html
Thanks for taking the time!
Agreed. I just came back from my first Balkans trip, but except Bosnia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Romania it was mostly boring riding in too hot weather. Unfortunately we didn’t meet. But maybe next year in Latin America ✌️
I rode around my hometown’s country roads yesterday. I’ve been on them all hundreds of times before-still loved it.
European roads, weather and Geography are boring for a adventure rider. But perfect for touring riders.
People in the comments should get the difference.
What!?! 😂😂
❤❤❤ I totally understand and agreed.
Good!
Agree 100%. People define adventure in different ways. For me (and probably Pavlin), adventure is getting out of your comfort zone. Europe, being the most civilised continent of the world, cannot offer you that. Sure there are many beautiful and different places to see, but all of them are under the umbrella of European culture.
Well said!

(If you squint.)
I'm in my third year with mc myself.

Good!
I started watching you when you traveled to Mongolia with your friend. From those videos, I learned much more about the Asian part of Russia and Mongolia than from any other documentary. Iv agree Asia is a real adventure.
Thank you!
Nice video! Thank you for sharing! Yes sir, it's all about the adventure, whatever that may be!
Ride safe Brother!
great video my friend! quick question.
I have ridden a lot in India and love the unpredictable nature of it!
Exactly, SEA is much better than most European countries.
Hit me up next time you're coming to Thailand.
Love riding in the Himalayas of northern India. Have done 3 rides so far, each time two-up, & now planning for a ride in Nepal in 2025. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Hi Pavlin, 80s/90s transalps or similar, are they reliable motorcycles for long adventure trips? Thank you and congratulations for your channel.
How well have they been looked after, that is the million dollar question.
Thanks for sharing!
Maybe you should make videos for others to simply remember you loving your passion for riding.
I agree, I live in Australia and I've been everywhere in Australia, I'd love to ride in Europe, but I totally understand the perspective you mention. I went to China last year, not on a bike, but wow, so interesting.
Thanks for sharing!
It’s funny. I often think how lucky you are to be in middle of such a huge variety of cultures, languages and places to ride.
I live in New Zealand and would love to have the options you have but what you say makes sense. We all need adventure in our lives
I agree with you Pavlin, there can not be excitement and surprises in countries where everything is organized well. It just kills the adventure idea.
Come to South Africa. Plenty adventure here!
hahahaaaa
Never forget that I come from Bulgaria. Most of the things that exited you are my daily routine and I have seen Europe many times.
PAvlin. Hello - what is that yelow rubber circle at right hanflebar
Was given to me in St Petersburg. It represent the defenders of Leningrad
I understand where you coming from, Europe has run its cause. get out there and follow your dream to do other countries. ride safe and stay well.
I will, thanks!
To me you seem to confuse ‚boredom‘ with ‚reliability‘ (funny enough a topic you like to speak about when it comes to the machinery) -> Riding in Europe is not ‚boring‘, it is ‚reliable‘… a petrol station every 30-40 klicks at the very worst, road signs are present, clean and correct, changes to road conditions are usually announced, people mostly adhere to accountable, safe and friendly conduct in traffic…
… and to me: Reliable = Desirable.
But hey, you have a wonderful and challenging South America trip ahead of you, maybe you will find more fulfillment there…
Agreed! Its not only the roads what keeps you adventuring.
Well... it is what it is!
I understand your point and respect your opignion.
Good!
Never ridden in Europe unfortunately. Still just touching the surface in South Africa.
Thanks for sharing!
May I ask you what kind of mount you use for your phone? THank you
Where are you from?
Good!
You are a great guy , and everything make sense ! 🍻
I agree with you despite of that I don't ride so much like you... But the fact is that every day is an adventure... The more on a bike 💪
Good!
Im 33 ... and ive seen alot but not whole europe and i m thinking about south north america asia australia ... if u saw all eu so far...no reason to not go asap because life is short. Hope i see you once....i want to congrats you for everything in person . Cheers from Romania . Be safe
Good luck on your trips!
That's why I upload my travel videos, to show the reality in and outside of Europe. Everyone is free to ride where he or she likes!
Pavel, why don't you try to make a tour to South Africa? Also, South America would be great but is more difficult to get there.
Step by step. First is South America.
Thanks for sharing!
You have ment that you are comming to South America and, I believe you are going to have a great esperience , I am from Brazil and have done some very interesting and different trips around.
I hope so too!
Visit us here in Africa. You'll enjoy it.
+1
RSA awaits, Deon Johannesburg
Any place in particular?
@@aluet30 South Africa. You will have a blast with the locals.
I’m sure you will find a lot adventure in the South America. Good luck!
I felt this on my last trip to Germany. Felt like riding back home as have done many trips there
My question to you is " What is the definition of adventure?".
Thanks for sharing!
I agree i have travelled to western Europe with car and its pretty much the same
Everyone has different perspectives.
I am on my way!
Take care.
Have to agree with you Pavlin
Europe has become very boring for me and my wife
I think it is to easy to travel without much preparation in europe
I like to stop at borders and fix a problem with language and paperwork which you do not get in europe anymore
Morocco used to be an adventure but to much tarmac and outside investment is spoiling the adventure
Maybe we are a victim of the Adventure success story
Keep doing what you are doing as you do it well
Each to his or her own.
Exactly!
You want new trails, new countries, new adventures. Fair enough. Europe is different from let's say Africa. Good luck in South America. Hope you find what you're looking for. Happy rides, Günter/Nürnberg
So true! There's nothing new to learn on a beaten path!
I am planning to do Los Monegros in a Royal Enfield soon. Plenty of adventure I hope 🙂
