Hey folks. If you like what you see, you can buy Imprint blu-rays (remember, they're region free!) directly here - viavision.com.au/shop/category/imprint-films/
I picked these up a few weeks back from my local JB Hi-fi here in Australia during a 20 per cent off sale. They are really nice and it's about time we got a boutique label here in Oz. And thank goodness they don't have our ridiculously oversized wowser ratings logos plastered on the actual box art but only on the plastic shrink wrap. Hopefully I can pick up the second lot of 5 in the next JB hi-fi 20 per cent off sale, which they have reasonably regularly. Man, another set of spine numbers I need to obsess over collecting and making sure I have every one!
I finished reviewing each of the five Imprint titles yesterday, ending naturally with Waterloo. As an Australian, I really appreciate your excellent coverage for overseas markets. We've always been somewhat at a disadvantage here when it comes to physical media, so right we're feeling very grateful to have had such a quality label spring from our shores.
My pleasure! I always try to shine light on the work people are doing to spread the love and awareness of cinema. Are your reviews for these titles online? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)
@@ElliotCoen Yes, you'll find them all on my web site, cinematicrandomness.com/
Heartily agree, it's great we are getting our own boutique label and even better that channels like Elliot's are covering them..
Wow...😮...These are beautiful, lovely, and pristine releases...💿 They are definitely the true definition of boutique Blu-Ray media...👌🏼💯✔
Very interesting! I'm hoping they release titles that aren't already on the other boutique labels. As much as I love them and I understand they are based in different regions, it does get tiresome seeing a lot of the same big international films be released under multiple labels when there are so many films that still need releases at all.
Also, being region free is a huge plus!
Hear, hear. I'm sick of seeing duplicated releases especially when they ignore calls for certain films which don't have a release yet.
I don't mind the duplication as long as there is something significant to distinguish them such as a wealth of different special features. This happens rarely though as mostly even the special features duplicate aside from a couple of items. But if another version comes out in a hard case and a nice thick book with lots of relevant info then it is hard to resist picking it up (e.g. the Criterion Berlin Alexanderplatz vs the UK Second Sight one. The latter has some different features, better bit rates of content spread across multiple discs and an awesomely thick informative book included). But yes you are right, there are many films that still need to be remastered and released that are still floating about in the void!
@@darrenblizzard3851 I don't _really_ mind duplication either (especially if releases are similar or identical because I'm not much of a double-dipper, so to speak). I think for a new label, though, there's a lot of potential and risk involved. I definitely agree that there would have to be something significant to distinguish them if they were to release titles that are already on other labels- I think it's vital for an international market. It's one thing if titles aren't readily available or relatively inexpensive to get in Australia and the label will benefit cinephiles there. But what's the point if it's nothing different from something that say both Criterion and Eureka have already released. Although, now that I think of it, I'm not really sure how possible that would be. I'm not familiar with the way rights and licensing works with such labels. They might not even be able to release titles that are already on (an)other certain label(s), but again, that's an area I don't know a lot about.
@@BaileeWalsh I don't know the ins and outs of the licencing game but I know it's definitely a factor and that publishing/distribution rights can float around between labels and sometimes can be with more than one label at once but generally not in the same region. For import cost reasons and/or for region lock reasons it is definitely nice to know there is a nice version of a title under more than one boutique label. Living in Australia it is always a case of trying to get a UK version first due to it being region B. I have a region free player but I still prefer a native region B release first. That doesn't go for some things though like Criterion in which I prefer the US versions. We do not have many local boutique or cult labels. Imprint is the first really (we do have a semi boutique/cult label called Umbrella which is ok too). To survive I really believe they need to be attractive to OS buyers because the Aussie market is so small in comparison to the US, UK, Asia etc. For that I agree they need to pick their titles carefully and try and avoid duplication so as to be the only option for OS buyers. If a local version of an Imprint title is available like the upcoming Criterion War of the World's then no one in America is going to bother importing the Aussie one. The other way to get around it is to make sure you really double down on the packaging, booklets and uniqueness of special features. I've double dipped on a fair few things due to this reason because I was a fan of the particular film and found it was worth having both versions due to a wealth of difference in this area. Like with anything you want to sell it is about understanding your market, how they think and what will make them part with their cash! For collectors of films we are all suckers for great packaging, booklets and special features and the ability to own films which are very hard to get and the quality of the sound and picture is obviously the first and foremost consideration. Any label that masters these things should do well... But we shall see how Imprint go. They have a lot of competition so I hope they survive...
Hi Elliot, Hope your well, thanks for sharing this video, the label looks great and Im glad you've got the opportunity to showcase the label 👍
Hello, it's my pleasure! I'm well thanks, hope you are too. Cheers, my friend :)
The Duelists is such an underrated Ridley Scott film. I think it’s one of the best directional debuts of all time.
Certainly! Ridley Scott had a knack right from the start, though I do believe he spent a long time on the advert industry prior to making features
The DVD release has one of his early short films that was used for the Hovis advert. Hopefully I've got that elsewhere so I don't have to keep the DVD as I see it's not on the Blu-ray
Been watching your channel for a few months now and have to give you props on the quality of information and eloquent delivery of said information that inspires me to watch more of the movies I have never known or had prior interest in watching so thanks for that!
Just gotta tell you that you are my new favorite channel. Great vids keep it up
Agree heartily, Elliot and Daisuke Beppu's channels along with the US Films At Home and Cereal at Midnight are my go too channels for film and physical media content...there are a few other good ones that specialise in horror, Asian films etc but those are my big 4...
Wonderful video as always! Thank you !
My pleasure, John. Thanks for watching :)
Oh this is cool. I hope they release, a cry in the dark ( evil angels). A great Australian from staring Meryl Streep and Sam Neill. Great film. Great video Elliot.
That's a film I'm not familiar with! Cheers, AJ
Oh boy, this label looks awesome! Trying to not succumb to FOMO (fear of missing out) as I already collect Eureka/Arrow/Criterion and need to budget my spending. Great video as always pal!
I live in Australia so am very happy that this exists, unfortunately they haven’t put anything out that I’m too interested in yet but I’m sure they will soon.
They look like they have done a fantastic job. Great video mate
And the Oscar goes to........😁
That's award winning acting at the beginning my friend! Haha
Thanks for introducing me to a completely new label......definitely picking up WotW and Waterloo, and look forward to checking out The Duellists too.
Great work Elliot!
Haha, thanks, Andy. I will be sure to mention you in my Oscar acceptance speech!
Unfortunately war of the worlds is already out of stock :(
Great to see these be showcased, they look spectacular. It's great that a boutique blu-ray company has cropped up here in Australia, I'll certainly look into getting one or two in the future. Awesome stuff mate 👍
Do let me know if you end up getting some in the future! Cheers for watching, as always :)
Thanks so much for this video! I can’t wait to research this label more. Ugh...more movies to buy. Ha ha.
My pleasure. Too many films to buy/watch, not enough time :)
A region-free boutique label? So cool, man.
Sorry, Wrong Number is intense. I was on the edge of my seat the first time I watched that one. I think you're really going to like it!
Oh gosh, I just checked the Imprint website and it looks like they're releasing A Place In the Sun in August. That is one of my all-time favourite films and when I saw it listed on the site, my eyes lit up. I NEED THAT ONE FOR SURE.
@@VanessaButtino A Place in the Sun has been on my watchlist for ages! I've been waiting for a blu-ray of it. You have me even more eager to see it now :)
@@ElliotCoen Elliot. YOU. WILL. LOVE. IT.
@@ElliotCoen I'm not going to say anything to spoil it for you, but it's the kind of movie that will wreck havoc with your conscience. No matter how many times I must have seen it, I *still* feel guilty afterwards about sympathizing with the wrong character.
Must.... not.....collect.....another..... label.... 🤦🏻♂️💿💿💿😂😂😂
Fight the temptation... or don't! 😂
Got 'em all. Already pre-ordered the next bundle pack range in line. Great title selections and really enjoyed the whole set.
Man, in the shitstorm that is collectively known as 2020 it's great to see new boutique labels coming out for us collectors. I don't know if I'll pick up this line (with War of the Worlds coming out on Criterion shortly), and I'm worried about the low print run on the slipcase issues, but Imprint looks beautiful. Great video.
Wow thank you for sharing this Elliot, these releases look amazing. I’m tempted to get a few however, the shipping is £20 so I’m not sure. This still look great, very lucky to own the first 5. Great video mate as usual!
Awesome video! So far the two I’m eyeing the most are The Duellists. Ridley is one of my favorite living directors, and Waterloo. I hope they add booklets in the future! 😁
I've got all of these they are great. There second round of releases is top notch as well coming out in August
Great new label 👍🏻
For sure, a much welcome addition to the collector's realm!
It's great to hear these are region free - I'll have to pick up Ridley's directorial debut 'The Duellists' (1977)
To be honest the only new thing I noticed on the War of the Worlds was the really good picture quality and art work. All of the extra features are on the dvd too so nothing new there sadly
Really loving Imprints releases so far. Thankfully spine number isn't enough to sway me into releases I don't really want, but I have four of these, A Place In The Sun (very good) and When Worlds Collide, from their second release, and have a handful of the newly announced films preordered. These are all selling out and going on ebay for crazy prices, so you really gotta be on the ball if you want them.
I have to give some love to Umbrella Entertainment here in Aus though. Not as sophisticated releases as this, but do incredible work releasing a lot of classic Ozploitation/Australian films on really nice blurays -mostly all region free. The Chain Reaction, Frog Dreaming and Next of Kin are a few really great ones. They also just released Peter Weir's phenomenal The Last Wave from a new 4k restoration done by them! Highly highly recommend.
their choices of movies is very impressive, The Duellists is probably my favorite film of all time with an incredible Frank Tidy cinematography and howard blakes romantic, sweeping score
I'm glad you mentioned Howard Blake. A brilliant composer for film!
@@ElliotCoen ua-cam.com/video/JKfgesm5x8o/v-deo.html
I need to start on these. Sorry Wrong Number is amazing!
Hey Carl. I'm looking forward to watching it! I'll let you know what I think of it.
Crushing some Elliot vids in anticipation of the June B&N sale. Good stuff as always!
Thanks, Evan! I'll be doing some new Criterion videos next week in preparation for the sale :)
Have a love hate relationship with 'Waterloo' as it was the movie that put the nail in the coffin for Kubrick's 'Napoleon' as the studio got cold feet due to Waterloo's financial performance at the box office but is a well made film
Nice video but definitely can’t afford to add another label to my shelves. I’ll just have to enjoy watching your pick ups.
Totally understandable! Thanks for watching :)
So I ended up ordering four of the first five titles (they didn't have I Married A Monster From Outer Space which I had to get from Amazon for £35) and the second bundle
It looks like they charge straight away but won't ship until the other items are released. They have confirmed my slipbox versions are guaranteed, but I've asked if I can pay to have them shipped earlier
I did presume using my credit card rather than PayPal that I wouldn't pay until dispatch
Good job it's only five titles every three or four months
Grew up on the 'The Outer Limits' alongside 'The Twilight Zone,' and you'll love it too.
I'm excited for it! Thank you, my friend :)
I got the war of the worlds and I’m going to get when worlds collide when it comes out in the next set of 5.
That one has me interested too!
And how does it look?!?
I picked WOTW up in a local Australian retailer sale even though I'd already pre-ordered the upcoming Criterion version. Well, for some films you can never have enough versions and this one is a classic! The picture quality is great, you won't be disappointed. I am keen to hear @Elliot Coen's reviews.
Excellent stuff Elliott. You know how to get the collector's blood flowing. :)
I own The Outer Limits Season 1 and 2 on DVD. They are great stuff. I don't need to upgrade thankfully... :D The other releases look great but its an expensive game importing from Aussie land. They've made it easier by having the first run sell out! My wallet says thank you. They seem to be following the Vinegar Syndrome / Indicator model of batching titles together and shipping them all at once.
Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about each. Take care and I hope you're keeping well :)
I am very intrigued by The Outer Limits! It definitely is an expensive game to import blu-rays! Cheers for watching as always, Chris :)
There is a US region A Mill Creek OL version ... Not sure if that's cheaper for you? The Outer Limits Blu ray picture quality is far, far superior to the DVDs as I also previously had those. If you are a big fan you may want to consider picking up an upgrade. If you think it's expensive in the US or UK importing boutique Blu ray and 4k collectibles I can sure you it's a hell of a lot more expensive doing so from Australia, especially with the US dollar, UK pound and Euro exchange rates with the Aussie dollar. Also we can't get stuff posted direct to OZ a lot of the time (e.g. nothing from Amazon UK) and need to pay for expensive shipping services to get them here. Ah the lengths we go to in order to get our goodies!
Darren Blizzard cheers Darren. I’ll have a looksie for sure. It’s an expensive hobby for sure and I know how fortunate we are in the UK. We have so many fabulous labels here in one place. All the more reason to be glad Australia has its own label to support! 👍😀
@@chrismohan Absolutely. Let's hope there's more of them here in the fiture but the market is pretty small compared to elsewhere. Regardless, at this rate I think it's just awesome that the physical media market is still strong in general given all the streaming etc. so if that means I have to import a bunch of it from OS then so be it. I'm in a fortune enough position to afford being able to do so (within reason of course!) but having some local labels will certainly take the sting out of that!
The Outer Limits set looks cool. Is it a new mastering or licensed from Kino Lorber in the states? I had the old DVDs, but was never wholly satisfied with them because they were stretched out for widescreen. Kino on their blu ray sets have restored the proper 4:3 aspect ratio, so it'll be interesting to know if Imprint are the same.
I have both sets and they seem to be the same to my eyes...
Great video Elliot 👍 look forward to your reviews of theses movies, I’ve only seen War of the Worlds from these first releases, definitely another label I’m going to have to start collecting although my wallet may disagree 😂
War of the Worlds is out (or very shortly out) on Criterion. If anybody should have access to both, a comparison would be interesting.
Looks like a few on the initial releases are out of stock already, not sure if there will be a second pressing minus the slipcase. Looks like a good series but I think it will be very tricky for international collectors to keep up with the release and probably hard to get hold of from uk stockists. Can’t find any local.
Amazon UK appear to be selling a few. I just hope they stock a few copies A Place In The Sun, that's the one I would really like.
I’m guessing as well as shipping you could get hit with customs fees/Import duty /VAT to pay on them too if importing them from Australia (especially if you’re buying a few to cut the shipping cost) so could work out expensive ! Some people who have ordered may get a surprise if they get hit with fees that end up doubling the price !
Some of the initial batch are already out of stock, not good for collectors.
I've added "The War Of The Worlds" ( with the lovely new 4K restoration ) to my collection. I was intending to order "Sorry, Wrong Number" ( I'm a big Film Noir fan ) & "The Duellists" ( To upgrade from my current DVD edition ) but I've heard & read some quite negative comments about the transfers & the masters that were used. Not the sort of thing that you would really expect from a premium/boutique label! I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on these two movies in particular regarding their transfers/masters.
I have waited so long for Waterloo to come out on Blu-ray. I had to import the dvd a few years ago. The only U.S. release it received was on vhs.
I never knew it was such a hard film to get! To be honest, it hadn't been on my radar, but many people have told me in these comments how good the film is :)
@@ElliotCoen Yeah it's crazy. I'm glad a lot of these older films are getting the treatment they have needed for a long time. Funny story I actually discovered the film at my towns public library when I was a kid they had it on sale for 25 cents on vhs. I hope you enjoy the films!
I went to Amazon USA and looked up A Place in the Sun, and it's available for pre-order (release date September 4th) for $44:99. They say it's an import (correctly) but also have their Warning blurb on it saying it's a Region B/2 Playback so not playable on US equipment. I can't imagine it's not the same code-free discs they sell from Australia, but it could also be that they have to put a region coding on the ones sold on US soil; not sure about that.
Nice packaging - are they really $35 each tho?
They are really nice! I believe so. Not the cheapest but they look and feel well worth it.
The Outer Limits was an excellent 60s series, with a one hour slot instead of Twilight Zone’s 30 minutes. TZ just has the edge for me, but if you like that you’ll love OL as well.
Excellent! I cannot wait to dig into the set fully. I need to pick up all of Twilight Zone on blu-ray too. Thanks for this, Richard :)
I prefer the 60s and 80s Twilight Zone (not the rubbish recent version) to the 60s / 90s Outer Limits (yes both shows were revived in the 80s/90s respectively) but OL limits is still an awesome series and highly enjoyable - and makes you think as did the official TZ. I find the current TZ to be as subtle as a sledgehammer with where it's political agenda stands and in my opinion it is not very clever and I do not care for it. I picked up the US Mill Creek OL sets (one for each season) before I realised we would get a local Australian release. However I decided to double dip and get the one Elliot just showed in the vid as I like the packaging better. Ah the collector curse of spine number obsession and double dipping. My wallet hates me for it!
Elliot, what other boutique (re)distributors exist in the US other than the Criterion Collection? Does Arrow Video ship Region 1/region-less to the US?
Hey Harrison. Yes, Arrow do have their own branch in the US, releasing region A discs. Other US boutiques of the top of my head would be Shout Factory, Vinger Syndrome, Flicker Alley, Cohen Media, Warner Archive perhaps. I'm sure there's a few more.
@@ElliotCoen there's also Mill Creek, Kino Lorber, Olive Films, Synapse, Blue Underground, Severin to rattle a handful more from the top of my head also. I have some titles from each of these and they all put out some good releases and it's worth having a look at their websites @Harrison Zeiders
Hard Eight! At last!
I can't wait!
They just announced 12 more titles including 2 box sets
I know, they look incredible! Hopefully I will be getting them :)
Would you say the war of the worlds release is better than Criterion’s?
Hey Nathan. I will have to check when I pick up the Criterion, which may not be for a while. I imagine the release will be quite similar, so you will be good whichever version you pick up :)
Great new label BUT...NO scanavo cases, NO booklets, NO many interesting extras. I would have immediately ordered them otherwise. But I’m happy people will be able to watch old excellent undiscovered titles.
Agree a booklet would be nice but hopefully they are able to expand these later on if they take off and sell well. I guess it's expensive to add those extra things and it's only early days. I do hope they survive and thrive and grow as a label. Especially being an Aussie myself it is cool to know we finally have a boutique Blu label of our own though we have a long way to go to catch up to the US and UK!
I did pick up Sorry! Wrong Number and I was very happy with it and I passed on War of the Worlds since Criterion is releasing it here in the States
I would love to know how war of the worlds compares to the criterion version
I might pick up War of the world or Sorry, wrong number since I am a fan of the noir genre.
Looks like they have some kind of licensing deal with Paramount, at least going by the first 4 releases.
Hey @Elliot Coen (and others) just curious how fellow collectors track their collections? Spreadsheets? Specialist collector software? Custom access database? Do you all store the purchase costs so you know how much your collection has been purchased for over time? I know first and foremost it's about the films and enjoying them but the fact is some of the boutique titles do go out of print and become quite expensive and have good resale value. Does anyone go to these lengths? Just curious...thanks for the great vids and keep them coming. Looking forward to your Imprint reviews. I have these titles and have my own thoughts but always great to know what others think...
Hey Darren. I don't really track my collection in any way currently. I used to keep a list on Letterboxd of every film I own, but I stopped maintaining that list ages ago. I should really itemise my collection in a spreadsheet one of these days. Cheers for watching!
I've been using SharePoint to track all of my Blu-Rays and DVDs. In fact, it started off as one of the first SharePoint lists I started (in 2003) while trying to teach myself about database views; my first entry was Title "2001: A Space Odyssey", Director "Kubrick, Stanley", Genre "Science Fiction". It now has 295 Blu-Rays in a total of 1409. I've got views by decade, director, genre, alphabetic, and so on. I've actually used it in various training courses that I've run, usually to great effect (although when I ask for trainee's favourite movie I've rarely got it if they're under 30). And yes, I've got a column for Price which is a bit depressing to look at.
@@brettcoster4781 yeah I know what you mean. I use software called CatVids and yet the price column does make you freak out at times. But I guess if it's what you love and are passionate about then it's money well spent eh? Thanks for sharing that info about how you track your collection, it's always interesting to hear how others go about it.
Hay Eliot I'd like to see more about this label by the way
Can you do a video of all your marlon brando blu rays and the three movies james dean made if you have them Thanks
Hi Marty, sure, I will add those to my ideas list for videos. Cheers for watching :)
The War of the Worlds will be butting heads directly with the upcoming Criterion so I'll have to see about that. But Sorry Wrong Number is a pretty good, under-rated film I've only got on DVD at the moment. The Duellists is a definite yes both for Scott and because I'm a sucker for classic adaptations. I like Waterloo and remember seeing it at the show back in the day - and of course the Director also made War and Peace, available on Criterion (as you just said!) IIRC the old DVD release was also very bare bones. I've never seen The Outer Limits either so you aren't alone! I wonder if they will be picking up domestiic movies from down under too cos there are quite a few items from the new wave that lack a good Blu-ray (and on a more personal and less upmarket note I've always wanted the Ben Hall TV series with Jon Finch and John Castle).
As an Australian, Im glad I can just go around the corner to pick these beauties up, but 90& of my blu ray collection has those ugly ratings.
That is very convenient having them in shops close to you! Thanks for watching :)
Omg Sorry wrong number!!!! I want it on blu ray. Im in the 🇺🇸. Thank you for the region info. :)
i really really want this :( :(
They don't seem to have a mailing list unfortunately...
The shipping kills it for me, wanted the Duelists and Waterloo but $100 including shipping is a bit to rich. Hope they find a US reseller so that shipping cost can be reduced because I do want these.
You should try doing it the other way around with the Aussie dollar exchange rate to the US dollar and UK pound, it's super, super expensive! Also the fact many US labels won't ship directly to Australia and even Amazon won't at the moment from either the US or UK so we have to use expensive on-forwarding services like Shipito. However we do what we must to get our goodies eh?!😏
Don’t forget Shout! Factory
Are Imprint films region free?
Hi Martin! As far as I know, they all are region free.
Here's the list of releases spinenumber.com/imprint

@@ElliotCoen I'll be picking up ring, the audition and female prisoner scorpion, also would ever do a top 10 Asian fav films
Waterloo was the reason why Stanley Kubrick dropped Napoleon as his next film at the time.
Nice video. I have my eye on the war of the world's edition as it has more extras than criterion. The duellists is a very good debut by Scott. Please check your Facebook messages.
Just checked on Amazon The Duellists is £32.99 ouch
Yeah but if you buy from them direct you pay shipping ($20 for one disc) & if your in the UK you might have customs fees/import duty/VAT to pay too - I’m guessing the amazon price accounts for all the import fees etc
I was looking at these , do you know what the shipping cost is to the UK , I couldn’t see it on their website ?
To UK it’s approx $20 shipping for one $35 disc ($30 for 2 discs etc) but it’s not just shipping , you could end up with import duty/customs fees/VAT to pay on top too when you import them
@@nathanthomas5133 Seems to be 20 Aus Dollars for 1 disc and 45 for more than 1 disc. It's an expensive hobby all this :)
Sheesh, I like the look of em, but in my humble opinion they are way too expensive.
Have to agree on that. Amazon UK prices (where they have them) are mostly above £30! Much better on the website, but information on shipping costs from Aus is sorely lacking, sadly. Maybe the current situation prevents them being more informative on that front.
ShanghaiRooster if you import from Australia to UK you don’t just have the shipping (which seemed to be approx $20 for one $35 disc) , but you’ll might have to pay Customs fees/import duty/VAT on them. I’m guessing the amazon price includes all of the duties etc paid (?)
Region free?
Hi Linus. Yes, by all accounts they are region free. That said, I've yet to actually pop them in my player and test the different regions. I'll come back to you with that info, probably in my full review of these discs. Cheers for watching :)
Waterloo is annoying. Looks awesome but it seems all the armies have star wars stormtroopers because NO ONE can hit anyone. Lol.
why have i never heard of any of these movies u have
Hi Kye. We've all got different tastes and knowledge about films. There will be lots of films you know about that I do not know, I'm sure. That's what I find exciting about chatting movies with friends. Thanks for watching :)
Wouldn't Umbrella Entertainment be considered a boutique label, they have released things no one else has for example beastmaster.
You bring up a good point. Umbrella always confused me with their release schedules. Sometimes they'd go really niche, then other times they go super cult with their choices. But I guess you could certainly see them as a boutique label. I'll defer to my Australian friends who know much better than I on this one :)
I would say no because they release alot of crap and new titles as well. They do have some quality releases but such as the trailer comps
@@ElliotCoen I personally would say they somewhat qualify as a boutique label. They do release some very rare and cult films and they usually look and sound very good and have many great special features. However in my mind to be fully boutique the packaging is also a factor. They don't generally tend to have any special packaging or booklets or spine numbering but have dabbled in such things such as with their great Beyond Genres series (look it up, you'll probably want to buy them Elliot!). They also did an Oz Exploitation (Ozploitation) series though the packaging on those were just standard cases but the series contains some very good films.
How do you make money
Hey Titus. I make most of my money from my day job working in finance, but I do have some other small income streams too (side hustles, I believe the kids call them!)
@@ElliotCoen making money with finance makes sense. Keep going!
Real movie fans buy movies they like. If you buy everything you're a hoarder and you need to see a doctor.
Haha yeah who cares about spine numbers ?! I’m not gonna buy all of the HMV or criterion etc just to get a straight run of spine numbers - that’s just obsession
I just got off the phone with my doctor. He prescribed MORE blu-rays, and he has a medical degree.
I don't necessarily agree. There are many movies I buy because I have read so much about them but have no way of seeing them - other than perhaps by illegal means. However a lot of the stuff I am interested in is not even easy to find even on the aforementioned illegal places ( not that I've looked of course 🤫). I love the idea of importing a nice loaded boutique Blu ray and delving into the film and the features and learning even more about it. There are occasions where the film doesn't end up being my cup of tea so it doesn't always work out. I must confess I don't tend to sell them when I probably should because, you know...the spine number gaps and all. Ok maybe I do suffer from a wee dose of that same illness Elliot also shares... What is that doctors number Elliot? I think I need to give them a call!!!
@@darrenblizzard3851 Haha, exactly. I've said a lot on this channel before that 99% of my films purchases are blind buys - it's how I discover films. To The Legend's original comment, if I ONLY bought films I already like, I would not know many films at all. I have discovered thousands of films through buying blu-rays. If people hear me talk on these videos and think I'm not a real movie fan (whatever that means), that's cool. I'm gonna keep doing what I do though :)
@@ElliotCoen That is not what I've meant. I said if you buy EVERYTHING. Of course people do blind buys. It is what you read, hear, see online etc. Nothing wrong what that. For example if there are 100 movies numbered on the spine and #93 is a movie I do not like or think I won't like it, I would not buy it. But some people just buy everything. They can love films but also need to see a doctor. And it wasn't directly aimed at you. Just in general...
