I have been terrified to even touch my ecu cause i know these car are VERY picky and will brick if the right steps are not taken. This makes me feel better to now do my own stuff. Thanks!
Don't be so worried about bricking the ECU, as long as it isn't interrupted while any file transfers are being completed it shouldn't be a problem. Only things a bad tune will do is either make the car run weird or just not start. you'd have to really mess things up to break anything. And if all else fails, the tuning software has a "recover ECU" function which will revert any corrupted files on the ECU back to stock. hopefully that gives some peace of mind.

I've done this on two 9-3's now (one auto, one f40 6-speed)... the wizard stage 1 really didn't make any noticeable difference for me. I ended up getting a proper Stage 1 tune from SAGE tuning and that actually worked so idk if the wizard changes are just super minimal or what. I made sure to compare the .bin files as well to make sure the wizard changes were made which they were. What has been everyone else's experiences with the wizard stage 1?
it's closer to a stage 0.5 almost, just a slight improvement over factory performance, but it's not going to match a paid tune. if you can compare the binaries it'll help you learn how to create your own more powerful tunes though
so you have b207e version, by changin it to b207l it will give you around 25HP and by going fo St1 you will get another 25HP so you will end up with 200HP, i dont remember Nm number but diffrence is huge. If you want more power new turbo, Intercooler and injectors are a must.

i have an 07 model of the same car, had the same issue, the ground wire inside of the ecu that tells the starter to spin completely shit the bed. a month and 2500 dollars later i had myself a running, driving car with a brand new ecu with a warranty.
@@4point8garageirschmann and koxha ecus are questionable. my local saab shop used to use them and they had more fail before 1000 miles than not. they quite literally get shipped in wooden crates to a guy’s house for him to fix then sell on there, i’ve talked to the man who does it. i ended up going with a company in either denmark or norway, can’t remember which, that came with a 15k mile warranty. the first one i recieved was faulty but they sent me a new one with expedited shipping and i was back on the road in a week.
Hi there! Is this essentially refurbishing your existing ECU by reprogramming it? In other words, if your Saab is showing the telltale signs of a bad ECU, you can "tune" it and resolve those issues?
A bad ECU won't need tuning, it will need replacement hardware like resistors capacitors mlcc's resoldered on to it or physical damage parts from heat replaced entirely.. tuning an ECU is just for tuning your engine , or saving your driving settings, or turning off warnings or codes, and telling the ECU you have replaced damaged parts, and turning off limp mode... If your ECU is broken and saying false codes and can't control the engine or car or electronics, then it's physical damage, it won't just forget the settings and need to be shown the codes and parameters again to work again, it's still knows everything, but something wont let it measure or adjust...
Thanks for explaining this in user-friendly, layman terms! Hmm, I'm getting a P1682 on my Saab and... was contemplating getting a used ECU (with return options) and using a mongooose cable to copy and paste the hardware to hopefully resolve this. Trying to rule everything else out first because my Saab has lost power randomly, twice when I came to a red light, but it starts right up after. Do you have a video for help diagnosing and fixing that problem?🙏🏾
@@rootclinic9268 have you checked that code? You just type your car make model year, and the code and it should say exactly what is going wrong, one code is usually a good ECU, telling the truth that a part or sensor has failed.. I'll check it now for you
