QOD: My biggest motivation for running on a daily basis is the peace and clarity it brings to me. I wake up every day at the crack of dawn, watch your daily vlog, and then on for a run! That’s what I call life... thank you for your dedication Seth!
QOD: A couple years ago, I lost 80 pounds. Having spent the majority of my life obese, I never thought I would be strong, both mentally and physically, and fit enough to accomplish an ultra, let alone want to do one. What keeps me pushing and getting out the door when I desperately want to sleep in is the desire to push my limits and see what I can do now that I have taken control of my health. The day you posted this video I was running my first ultra, Bryce Canyon 50k. I was miserably hot, at altitude, and had a lot of vert, and while I doubted my ability many times, I was determined to finish. Crossing that finish line made all the pain of training worth it. And I cannot wait to do it again.
QD: My motivation comes from the lofty goals I have of one day completing an ultra race. I'm nowhere near the fitness I need to be, but turning the doorknob consistently will someday be the reason I complete my goals!
What motivates me lately is looking at the weather forecast and realizing if I don’t turn that doorknob now, later in the day it will either be too hot or downpours of rain
:qod: my mental health. Since retiring from soccer due to family commitments I got into a bad head space. Running became my new outlet. It helps me reflect and connect to what really matters.
QOD: the reason why I turn that door nob is because I know every run will help me pb and to see how hard I can push my body! I am a young high schooler from Australia and training my butt off to get over to the US for college so that’s another motivation! Been watching the channel since 15k subscribers every day! So keep it up Seth 🍞🧈
Endorphins are all the motivation I need. The way running makes me feel is what I run for. Yes, it helps keep my head clear and it provides time to think, but at 56, the feel is the deal!
Seth, started running 2 years ago...in part because of your inspiration, and urging to turn that door knob, I ran my first official trail race, 8miles and it was hard, and I didn’t show up on a podium, but good and I’m hooked. Thank you for sharing your passion for running!
Hi Seth, I ran my first ever half marathon for my 18th birthday yesterday! I had no idea what I could run so I was aiming for under two hours, but I ended up feeling great and finished in 1:52:37 (or somewhere around there, it was solo around my neighbourhood)! I started running last year during quarantine to improve my mental health as well as get healthier, which continue to be some of the greatest motivators for me. You've also been a huge inspiration for me and during the harsher days of the Canadian winter, the idea of turning the doorknob was one of the few things (I guess quite literally) that got me out the door. Thanks so much for the vlogs Seth!
QD: When I need a little motivation, a little help turning that door knob, more often than not I watch your daily vlog. 10 - 20 minutes break feeling your energy through my laptop and seeing you run is all I need. Too cold, too hot, too tired from work... Who cares - I'm out! Thank you Seth!
Following a training plan for an upcoming race makes me turn that door knob for sure! Also, I love surrounding myself with other runners, running gear, running anything, and specially you Seth! I have learned so much by watching you, your reviews, and training approaches. It amazes me how much I have grown in this sport, and now I'm even helping my colleague at work to prepare for her first 10K. Together we WORK hard and keep going! Thank you :)
QD: It's all about habits! Of course we all love running, being runners and the effects of running, but none of that matters when you're sitting in bed deciding whether you feel like it or not, you can talk yourself out of anything. I have made it a habit to get straight out of bed every day the same time and put my running kit on without even thinking about it. Before I even have time to think of an excuse I'm already out the door because it's just a habit.
That’s very tough to do, I cannot do this.... it’s a real struggle for me sometimes, and I find myself making excuses. Maybe I need new or better running shoes, lol. Good job on keeping your good habits though, that’s what I’m striving to do.
QOD: Opening youtube and hoping that one of your videos pops right up! It's honestly my biggest motivation ever since I started running again when I was on the crew team in college in Fall 2019 and discovered your channel. Ever since then my mileage and my appreciation for your daily vlogs and the dedication you show for your running, family and us as a community as grown and I am so very grateful to have started following your channel. Onwards and upwards!
QD: I turn the door knob because of the mental clarity, health benefits and the personal satisfaction I know I will feel during and after a run. I also set personal short term and long term goals. Incorporating a shoe rotation and watching Seth's channel often are great motivators! I had previously used only one pair of shoes for all runs. Now I'm fortunate to have a shoe rotation and run varied terrain. Different shoes for road, trail, differing terrain options and mixing it up instead of doing the same trail or road in the same shoe over and over again. Sometimes I will reverse my run on a bidirectional trail and it feels completely different. Consistently turning the knob while mixing up the run and shoe rotation. And a daily vlog from Seth is a huge motivator! Thank you Seth!
: Race goals are my motivation to keep running. In December last year, I ran a half marathon in 2:28 and had to walk. I committed to rapid improvement, and only four months later, I ran a 1:50 half. I have another half coming in July, and I suspect I'll land somewhere between 1:45-1:47. Whenever I get that feeling of 'I don't want to do it', I remind myself of my goals, and that's enough to turn the doorknob.
Friends!!! Friends are my #1 motivation. Some friends to run with, some are to run for and attempt to inspire. It's like in a race: You got your pace buddies, You got your folks that you can cheer on as you're passing, and You got those that cheer you on as they pass. Yeah, when a friend asks,"You wanna run today?" I almost always have to say yes 🎉
Good luck. The last few years the ladys have been coming along side and talking to me! Several have become great friends. My first thought is wow i must be getting better looking but then I realized iam old enough to be their father or grandfather and look safe 😂🏃♂️🏃♂️
I’d aim for races, group/club runs or somewhere a little more acceptable than some stranger walking/running up to a single female on the street lol But I live in a city so it might be a little different
Seth, in yesterday’s vlog you mentioned music choices for your drone shots. I’ve gotta say that you have nailed it so far. Epic shots this morning and the music tied right in with them.
QOD: Thanks Seth for the continued content. I turn that knob because every run can truly be your last. I’m sure you heard of the 21 ultramarathoners who passed in China. I can guarantee that they never thought it’d be the last time they would. Life is truly short and to get out and run means being free of those thoughts. If todays run of 30+ miles (training for 68 mile Backbone Trail Run) is my last run then I’m going out in Mother Nature and she’s always been good to me. Thanks again for the motivation.
Funny moment today for me. Was watching today's vlog while, yes, on the treadmill. Didn't get a chance to watch yesterday's and when I heard that yesterday's QOD was about treadmill running, while I was on it running, I gave out an audible chuckle. Unfortunately, I was stuck to it today because of all the rain in New Jersey the past 24 hours. I usually dread the treadmill and only run on it a handful of times a year, but like someone who got the comment of the day said, I was trying to use your footage to pretend I was outside running on the trails to make the treadmill somewhat more enjoyable.
QD: I use to hate running but now I'm really into it and thinking about doing a marathon by next year. I started running in my weight lost journey. Now after losing 80lbs I'm still running I find it relaxing. Being able to push my limits and passing them is a good feeling.
Sometimes it is hard to get up early to run, but I feel so good and accomplished when I do. I remind myself this every day. Also, I just plain love to run!!!! Motivation is never really a problem. If I am having a hard time getting up, it usually means I need more recovery and rest. I will often do a shorter run at an easy pace instead of just not going. Also, it is important to change things up including where you run. I mix up my runs frequently so I don’t get bored.
Getting out the door is a way to challenge myself and prepare for the ups and downs of life. DGR helps get me out the door everyday. Even though I don't really know too many DGR people, I still feel everyone helps hold me accountable.
QOD: Mental health. Great footage as always, Seth. I've been watching for three years and the nature shots help me get out the door. The drone footage looks amazing. Keep inspiring us!
QD: My motivation is the positivity that running brings to me. I met a lot of people on races and thanks to the running, now I have many more friends. Onward and upward!
What motivates me is "my why". I'm an ultra runner who rarely does races. My why is that I love the adventures. At the end of June, I'm running along the Oregon coastline (lowest tide of the season) going up and down the cliffs. It will be a fun 50 mile adventure!
I am so excited to see Colorado Springs this morning. I lived there for a while, and absolutely fell in love with it. I would go to Garden of the Gods every day. So beautiful. 😍😍😍😍 Thank you for showing me MY True Love this morning. 💜💜
For the past 3 months I was working 2 jobs, moved to a new apartment AND preparing myself to get married next month. As life started to happen, I had to start compromising either shortening my runs or pivot to do 4 minute high knee tabatas. I missed running because although can be painful to start, you then develop an attachment to it because it helps you with relaxing and turning off all your worries to focus on the path ahead of you. The key to my continued consistency to running, (just finished my first run today in a few weeks, 5miles!) I look to explore different paths so my mind wonders and my body just runs on its own.
QoD: Without a doubt, your trail-run drone shots are the biggest motivator to get the hell up, out, and onward!🤙☀️ Amazing combination today, BTW, of gorgeous wild running and domestic duties! Really nice to see a feral complementarity, all with the motivation threaded throughout! Well, it's nice and inspiring to see an honest spectrum of the day, anyway. Looking forward to next shoe matrix maybe summer? Greetings from a jealous trail-runner in Switzerland! 🇨🇭💚🤙
AbsoLUTEly beautiful video Seth, oh my goodness, love it! 👍🏻 My motivation is my fellow runners. I'm part of group of 5-6; we run together every weekend & have a group chat. We're also all connected on Garmin and Strava, so even if we're not talking about our runs in the chat, we can see what each other is up to. I want to make them proud, plain and simple. So I keep up with my training & put in the work for them as much as for myself 🥰🙏🏻
:QD: Every since I was 8 years old, doing "Little Athletics" Track and Field, I have always loved setting new personal bests. There is just something so deeply satisfying about going faster/further/stronger than ever before. Chasing that feeling lights a fire in my belly and is what motivates me to keep turning that doorknob! Huge fan from Australia!
So true about getting into a rut with our running. I know for me, I have about 6 or seven routes that I run regularly. Some a lot more often than others. Thanks for the vlog. It was just what I needed to remind and motivate me to seek out a new destination for my run today. I'm gonna make it epic!
Qd. I post my runs to Facebook. Every one. I doubt if I missed one anybody would notice, but if I missed a few in a row maybe one of my friends or family members might say something. Even if not, me just thinking they might has been enough to get out the door on tired days. This morning I have my first in person 5k at a local state park. Wish me luck.
your vlogs motivate me. Something about today’s vlog I really like. Just a bit of everything today. Running, you going about your day, you fixing stuff , eating a snack ect are my favorite vlogs.
QOD: The love of running is what motivates me to run. I get out there to run because it gives me clarity, peace, and it allows me to learn more about myself. Running gives me a sense of accomplishment and it connects me with the global running community; because we all experience running the same way.
: What motivates me to go run is the benefits that it will bring down the line, not to just me physically and mentally, but to those around me. I'm getting married soon, so all I think of is setting the example for my kids 3-5 years down the line, and hopefully inspire them to get out there and improve themselves one day at a time!
Qod: what helps me is picturing the day I can complete a sub 3 hour marathon. Thinking about that moment everytime puts a smile on my face and sometimes gets me teary eyed because I know I put in the work to get there and I continued to butter my 🍞 everyday 🔥. DGR STRONG! LOVE YOU SETH
Impressive footage on the wild. You were right, we discover interesting running places everywhere. I have been living for 20 years here, and today I ran for the first time amazing trails just 30 minutes from here.
What motivates me: is 4 fold 1)how I feel after, 2) I can think of how depressed I feel during an injury when I can’t run. 3) I think of my dad and (other handicapped people) who lost his leg and couldn’t.
My motivation for running is actually is the positive effect on my mental health. I have bipolar disorder (non-acute) and while meds give me a normal life, exercise and nutrition are key too! It is foolish just to take meds and call it a day. I was watching a PBS special when psychiatrist Dr. Amen detailed how important aerobic exercise is to brain health. I got back into exercise at 1st indoors on the "Gazelle Edge glider/slider" but after 3 months indoors hungered for the roads again. I used to run back in 2016 but pulled a muscle after my 1st half marathon and quit running. Monday morning Memorial Day 5K race begins my quest for the summit---the full marathon. Oh, and I am exploring new local running sites as you suggest. I just registered for a 4 successive Saturday SoCal fun community run in June that has lot of scenic trail running. I treat my shoe rotation like a golf bag. My weapon of choice will be my Hoka Challenger ATR 6's for those light trails. Are we blessed children or are we blessed?
Love the v-log Seth. Quick question: when do you poop? I noticed you had (in no particular order) coffee, latte, and oats before running a mountain. If that were me my belly would hurt so bad with a #2. Do you just have an iron gut? If so, how can I train that? Thanks. SBWHLE.
My motivation to run is my father, an avid runner who passed away at the age of 52 from a degenerative neurological illness. His twin brother recently passed away of the same disease. We’re not sure if it’s hereditary, and if so that means a shorter life expectancy for me. Life is too short, and watching the sun rise on my morning runs helps remind me how truly blessed I am to have a healthy mind and body.
Yeah, having race goals is it. No crazy goals. Just wanting to improve that little bit more each time. Build that little bit more weekly mileage not forgetting the rest week which I do every 3rd week because it suits my shift work. Takes longer to build but I hope a good foundation.
QOD: I always keep race goals ahead of me. I love the progress. Some are closer and attainable like running the Horsetooth Half-Marathon later this year, but I also like larger goals like BQ or running my first 100 miler someday. Everything I've ever done as a runner was impossible to my past self so I have to assume anything I want to do will eventually be possible if I keep moving.
QD: On the topic of the "rut" you mentioned, I have to give a huge shout out to my car (and the privilege to own a car) for making my running life so much more exciting. Living in a city, it's really tough to get off my beaten paths, clear the mind and keep things consistently interesting without a car...so, I guess the answer would be my trusty Subaru!
QOD, on 2014-2019 my weight is almost 115kg, on searching suitable shoes for running, i came across your chanel and found shoes that suitable for my weight lose program, now im 71kg with nice bmi, my only goal now is to run full marathon, and now traning for it, there a few of my strava activities that you hit kudos, really burst my heart on that, it nice to watch you train and give me motivation from your traning blog. Kudos from me @seth DGR STRONG!!!
Love your daily vlogs Seth, they really do have everything and stunningly put together, no idea how you keep up! Can I ask what stationary camera you use now? That night time b-roll was crystal clear. As for QOD my motivation is striving to reach my potential.
Very random question, do you know where you got that shot of kissing camels (Garden of the Gods) and Pike's at 2:54?? Absolutely next level! Thanks for showing off the springs! :)
Hi Seth I’m 60 at the end of the year been running for 40 year watching you motives me and I always try to win my age group and if I don’t make the effort my competitors will 👍💪 keep up the great work 💪
hypnotism is very real; it doesn't work on everybody, but i've been hypnotized three or four times, and it's a strange experience. the aftermath is extremely refreshing. it feels like you just took a really good nap. would highly recommend at least trying it if you're ever given the chance :)
Planning out my runs. If it’s on my calendar on my watch, I have to do it. Garmins law. Living in Nashville it’ll soon be 95 degrees with 100% humidity so I’ve recently moved my running schedule to be out the door by 5am so I can have time to run, but also have time for family/work. Seth, would also love a little behind the scenes on how you do your runs with the drone. The question I always ask myself is do you do you ‘warm up’ with the drone, it dies, you take it back to the car and then do your planned run?
QD: Motivation?? Your videos are my motivation, I drink my coffee while watching, and then it’s time to go! I must say though, your drone operator is amazing, such amazing captures! I think u should expose him, introduce him to us, give him some love!! 😂
QOD: motivation to run is not hard for me but I love a good training plan, Seth. There is nothing better than an ambitious training plan to push those physical and mental boundaries to break those PRs DGRStrong 👊
QD: the 1st one is the Ironman videos by Yes theory (check out their youtube channel!), because my kind of ultimate fitness goal is a triathlon...the 2nd thing is, to just go, not looking for motivation, just dress up, warm up, and get out... But its important to not be too hard on yourself...there are days when I really dont feel like doing anything, and while its awesome to overcome those feelings and get out there and do something you love, sometimes, the best thing I can do is just give in, and have a rest day, because I probably deserve it :)
Seth, awesome video (as usual) what were the names of those trials you ran at in the Springs? I'm also from Denver and looking for some new running inspiration! Thanks in advance :)
QOD: when I started running it was simply a dreadful means to an end, weight loss. Specifically a desire to be healthy for my newborn son. It has since become my greatest hobby. Motivation each day still come from a desire to be physically healthy, but I also just enjoy the exercise! Through diet and running I have lost over 50 lbs, and can’t wait for my now 2 year old to one day run with me!
@@dbeecher14 Check him out on Strava you’ll be able to see his route, started out at Garden of the Gods, then Red Rocks open space over towards interman trail
Seth, I’ve just started to run and I did a 5.5K annual charity run in February and I came in 14th and I feel I can do much better (21.15) my motivation is to try to get better at running, my goal is to get my mile time down into the low 5’s maybe even high 4’s. I’m 38 and injuries have held me back a bit but my motivation is the goal to win a national 5k before my two year running anniversary.

Mountains are so awesome to look at. Beautiful!
Seth just filmed an epic Salomon commercial for free. Come on Salomon- pay the man! 😉
So true about getting into a rut with our running. I know for me, I have about 6 or seven routes that I run regularly. Some a lot more often than others. Thanks for the vlog. It was just what I needed to remind and motivate me to seek out a new destination for my run today. I'm gonna make it epic!
That landscape is incredible
Beautiful video my running buddies who always finds new and interesting routes to run…..absolutely love running in new areas when I have the time.
This was beautifully shot!
Good luck, run hard and feel the joy,
@@kenhaines6493 Thanks! I got a good time (for me) and ended fast.
your vlogs motivate me.
Love this! I know northern California has tons of trails in not sure of!
Going Trail running in the Rockies this morning as well , Just way north in Alberta 😀.
Have a great run!
@@janetduback5161 thank you 😊
: What motivates me to go run is the benefits that it will bring down the line, not to just me physically and mentally, but to those around me. I'm getting married soon, so all I think of is setting the example for my kids 3-5 years down the line, and hopefully inspire them to get out there and improve themselves one day at a time!
I run because I can...never take running for granted. I could cycle and swim but something about running makes me feel grateful.
What motivates me: is 4 fold
1)how I feel after,
2) I can think of how depressed I feel during an injury when I can’t run.
3) I think of my dad and (other handicapped people) who lost his leg and couldn’t.
Motivates me how i feel awesome after the run and your videos Seth. Keep it on!!!!
EPIC SHOTS TODAY SETH! MOTIVATION MOTIVATION! THANK YOU!
Oh my goodness I need to go to Colorado! Those views are incredible.
Pretty awesome looking area! Those trails are butter smooth
Kudos from me @seth DGR STRONG!!!
watching you run gives me so much motivation and peace. you’re an awesome human.
Loved the drone footage
Love your daily vlogs Seth, they really do have everything and stunningly put together, no idea how you keep up! Can I ask what stationary camera you use now? That night time b-roll was crystal clear. As for QOD my motivation is striving to reach my potential.
Wow! That's a beautiful place! Beautiful run!
I'm gonna start running for the first time in a long while, because I'm resting from a back injury, you've motivated me a lot! Thank
Very random question, do you know where you got that shot of kissing camels (Garden of the Gods) and Pike's at 2:54?? Absolutely next level! Thanks for showing off the springs! :)
Thanks for sharing my comment Seth! You’re changing lives every day. Mine included. Keep it up my dude.
Progress is the biggest motivator of them all, when you see progress in anything in life it becomes an addiction
Absolutely beautiful shots of nature! You should come explore Utah someday Seth! It’s not far from CO!
What motivates me for a run is thinking of coming races. Also thinking of joyful things rest of the day as a reward motivates :-)
QD: Motivation?? Your videos are my motivation, I drink my coffee while watching, and then it’s time to go! I must say though, your drone operator is amazing, such amazing captures! I think u should expose him, introduce him to us, give him some love!! 😂
The shots are Amazing Seth
QOD: motivation to run is not hard for me but I love a good training plan, Seth. There is nothing better than an ambitious training plan to push those physical and mental boundaries to break those PRs DGRStrong 👊
One motivator for me is wearing the tread down on the shoes, so then I can buy a new pair when the old ones are worn out. I love shoes!
QD - A buddy of mine once put it like this: "a day that I run is better than a day that I don't".
As an older dad I need to stay fit and healthy for the kids. And I also want to run Boston one day.
When I see my love turn the door knob, going out to train for her first marathon, I'm psyched for her! I want to get out there and run, too!
Beautiful video of Garden of the Gods
Seth, awesome video (as usual) what were the names of those trials you ran at in the Springs? I'm also from Denver and looking for some new running inspiration! Thanks in advance :)
QD: I just love the beauty of being outdoors and running trails and the peacefulness and sense of awe that it gives me.
Seth,
... Loved today’s footage! I run there all the time!
Wondering if you can share the omelette recipe and how you prep your food
Ah Seth, you were in my backyard playground today. Glad you enjoyed them, loved seeing the COS trails in the vlog!
Do you know what the trail is called for a fellow CO Springs runner? If it’s hush hush to keep out foot traffic I understand that though XD
@@dbeecher14 Check him out on Strava you’ll be able to see his route, started out at Garden of the Gods, then Red Rocks open space over towards interman trail
@@thetopher1126 cheers!
Amazing quality as always!
6:52 When Seth goes 'Fight Club' on us :D
Hi Seth! Are you going to focus on downhill with specific sessions in order to be ready for Pikes Peak?
