On the first date of this year, YandereDev made an apology video to rather serious allegations made three months ago and today I sit down to see how well-crafted it is. For those of you aware of your yanderedev lore, one of the excuses he's made for years as to why the game isn't finished is that he's too busy answering emails, so the idea that he 'usually doesn't' answer fanmail is hilarious.
Oh yeah. I used to be big into the game (look, I was a teenager and the game caught my attention, okay? I kind of fixated on it for a while. It's been years since then) and he said that a lot in his videos
He didn't say that tbf, he even said in the video that he _does_ try to respond to most fanmail. He said he usually doesn't respond to DMs.
Another excuse was the gremlin thing

There’s been weird shit like this for the past 10 years, someone needs to make a full encapsulation of everything he’s done. No way this is the only one.
I'm sure there will be quite a number of records (unofficial and legal) that will paint an accurate picture of what they've done.

Yeah, nah, the whole _"She talked and made dirty jokes like she was an adult"_ to me is just how I have always seen kids behave. Girl is 16, and when I was a teen I often said some vulgar stuff I wouldn't just outright say as an adult. Kids don't often have filters and will just say dirty stuff to imitate being "more mature" or "adult". Again, it was like this when I was in Middle School and High School (and that's mostly how kids where I'm from act), but the difference in how adults go about spitting dirty jokes versus kids is adults being able to be more mature about it in the sense that _"Yeah, maybe I shouldn't be spewing out dirty jokes or saying vulgar things 24/7."_
Edit: Some people think that in my original comment I am trying to justify Yandere Dev's actions. No, I am not. My post was to point out the flaw in his logic, so please read it carefully and don't skim through it. This man is entirely responsible for not shutting her down as the adult in this situation. This girl was a child and did not know what she was doing. She was a kid trying to act like an adult, and Yandere Dev used it as an excuse for what he did. There is NO excuse for engaging in sexual activities or talking about such activities with a minor.

But it doesn't seem to matter... cause right now i have watched stuff like VRC (VrChat just in case you don't you know) videos where children KNOW that this kinda of thing is not appropriated to do or say with an adult. and STILL do it. as we know, kids just do these kinda things. so yea definataly the adult should INDEED shut anything down like that. but some kids are not completely innocent yet still a victim because the fact of the matter is SOME people/kids are taught stranger danger. some kids just know/find out. those that don't know at all are in even MORE danger. i did not behave sensibly online as a minor. even if a minor shows interest in going into mature topics or sexualizing themselves online it does not mean you should remotely allow that to continue as an adult or even as a peer. an adult should absolutely call that off. as someone who dealt with hypersexual behavior as a minor it will absolutely be regretted later.
it really upsets me seeing minors identify themselves as sexual labels like top/bottom in public spaces and i do not tolerate it

If it was a one time thing, it wouldn't be as bad, but this combined with history of doing other things that might normally seem socially irresponsible by themselves, make it reasonable to assume malicious intent.

Not blaming the victim, but I think what AllyMCC told the victim to do in order to collect evidence is terrible and would make them an accomplice if anything did actually come of it. If you care about protecting minors you don’t tell one that they need to continue an inappropriate relationship for the greater good.
If people keep thinking YandereDev isn’t going to change then chances are he isn’t going to change. Back in 2020 I was in his discord server (I'm still in it but haven't checked in since then) and when I tell you he would spend HOURS talking to people on the discord. The environment there was really strange, I'm pretty sure most of us were minor girls. Including myself. Everything was about worshipping him. That's most of what was talked about. I hardly interacted but once I got a direct response from Yandev when I edited one of his channel stickers. Ofc there was people talking about the game, characters, fanart, etc. But it mostly felt like a weird online harem.

Furthermore, the age of consent in 34 states is 16, which means that "an individual can legally consent to sexual intercourse under any circumstances". (This of course does not apply to explicit images)
People need to start distinguishing between morally wrong and criminal behavior. Society can disapprove of behavior even if it's not criminal, and that's fine and often even beneficial. But we still need to recognize that something is not criminal and leave it at that.

Having actually known Alex way back in the EvaXephon days... It really never ceases to amaze me how someone so shitty accrued so much popularity, and continues to pop up on the radar. And yes, he is a very stunted individual - he alienated a lot of people back then, and made inappropriate comments without understanding why they were inappropriate until we explained it to him.

This is why intervention, proper guidance/life skills support and therapy are so critical to people on the spectrum, especially the ones that fly under the radar until their older years - when these patterns of behaviour aren't adequately addressed and effective strategies of being able to self-identify, respond to and correct more troublesome actions aren't taught, they manifest throughout later life in behaviours that on the surface are predatory but in reality are the result of a broad social ignorance, poor boundaries, lack of innate understanding of why things are wrong, and are inherently inappropriate rather than done with genuine malice or ill intent

A. Making questionsble decisions with extra features and modes that didn't do much but slow things down when it came to actually developing the core mechanics of the game.
B. Dropping the ball when it came to ghosting TinyBuild, who would've helped speed up development immensely.
C. And more recently, getting into such a serious controversy due to his own lack of restraint that most of the support and volunteer work the game had garnered over the past several years is almost gone.
I'm not gonna be thankful towards a game that lost my and most people's interest past 2018-2019, nor am I gonna be thankful towards a guy that has a history of being unpleasant, weird, and irresponsible. Speaking from the perspective of someone who was groomed, that's not how that happens. Grooming starts as being just friends. It's almost never sexual at first. It's good advice, and deep conversation, and emotional support that slowly evolves into conversations about your relationships, inappropriate jokes, compliments about how mature and cute you are.

And even if it scares you, or you get the sense that something is wrong, you'll be in so deep that you're afraid to get the adult (or yourself) into trouble.
A kid is incredibly lucky if they can spot a red flag and get away before any damage is done. A lot of the time they aren't though.
Yanderedev put more time and effort in his "apology" video; grooming himself for said video; and grooming kids, than he ever did on his own game that's been in development for over a decade.

Personally I find it rather sad that, because of all these pervs, a friendship between and adult and a teenager/child is immediately considered suspicious by default (especially when the adult is a man). Genuine friendship between generations could actually have some great benefits, both for understanding each other's generational viewpoints but also as a tool for educating children with the wisdom of adults (See Chef and the children from South Park) and to strengthen the bonds between families in a community.
I wish society was more with this mindset.
It used to be a much more mainstream thing when I was growing up. I was friends with people in their 20's under supervision and it really shaped me to who I am today.

It also helps that our friend group are mixed sexes so when we talk about serious things, we have the perspective of those in our 20's, some in 25's and then early 30's, men and women (and trans). We used to have a Grandmother of our group (54) but she passed away :(.
