Thank you everyone for the massive support! People from my Instagram and tiktok and new folks from UA-cam! I made this video a few weeks ago now and I’m surprised do see all the views and support from my brand new UA-cam. I hope to make more content in in future but for now I only really have time to repost stuff from tiktok as I’m working on my finals right now. Thanks again everyone! ❤

Art uni student here. According to our teachers is because they want to avoid students defaulting to a trendy art style instead of coming up with their own original one. I totally get it for school projects but it’s kind of upsetting how they’re putting artists down when they see them do anime styles in their own personal work.
The way he just made your shopkeepres designs essentially "placeholders" for a ""better"" art is just... Wow. Just wow. You can see that this man never actually understood how hard drawing is.
This is rich when Mulberry herself is known to trace her art from time to time. F you Alex.. and a big middle finger to Mulberry for claiming that she came up with these designs when that’s clearly false.
@@Banpoofssome vids about her tracing are since removed but if you type mulberry tracing on google you likely see for yourself although I’m not sure if she deleted the traced work or not.
Biggest middle finger you could give to him is use the lovely designs you made and make a better story for them. Your designs are very unique and expressive and shouldn’t be thrown to waste by a rotting dirtbag of the internet who can’t grasp the basic important things to making a game (visuals and coding)
He tried to make hitman but he made shitman. Im considering downloading a pirated version of a build with her art in it so i can rip the models and sprites to use them for a unity project, would that be ok I'm wondering if i should ask them first.
Honestly it's quite baffling how bad a programmer is YandereDev... Literally 2 semesters of having programming as a subject in Uni, and seeing his code makes me cringe so flipping bad, which would be fine if he just started programming, but 10 flipping years????
@@RyebuckCoppercap my experience with coding is little to none but i’d have the audacity to, y’know, actually organize it so fixing things would be easier to do? He’s the textbook example of when you can’t even give an artist credit where credit is due because he’s absolute dog water at everything. Even when it comes to existing
I feel like the art change requests are very indicative of Alex's character and his unwillingness to accept new ideas and criticism. That original "nerd girl" design was very cute and creative but was pushed aside for Alex's original and ,imo, worse idea.
Honestly, you nailed the 80s artstyle. The sharpness to the points, roundness to the eyes and simplicity of designs is really striking. Fuck yandev though, he can go off to gaol
This could just be me, but I personally feel like your attempt at the 80s anime art style replicates the 80s anime art style more than the one that was used. This isn’t to tear the other artist down mind you as both you and them produced good art, but when comparing the designs and asking which accomplishes the objective of “80s anime”, yours personally looks like something I could see fitting within that 80s anime crowd so I have no clue what yanderedev was smokin to feel the need to change it.
People dont understand how difficult it is for us to draw i drew years ago an handmade comic that was just so difficult to make that i thought about going crazy @@theintrovertedcartoonist2002
You’re the one who made the old 1980’s shopkeeper designs ?!?! I just wanted to say how much I love them. It really shows the, “1980’s” thing really well and when 1980’s mode first released became some of my fav official Yansim art.
Honestly the designs that ended up in the final does not even show the "80's anime style" he asked for to begin with, i very much like the og design better
your art is absolutely adorable!!! i lost it when he said the lolita style wasnt very 80s….BRO….THE LOLITA SUBCULTURE WAS FROM THE 70s?!!!! He could’ve AT LEAST give her a classical look Im so sorry this happened to you ❤
Goes to show that his understanding of what makes anime what it is is very… twisted. It’s like the ultimate stereotype of what Western weebs think Japan is
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Your style is so distinctive and unique, I actually thought the thumbnails you did for Yandev were some of the best ones he’s had. They stood out to me immediately. Thank you for sharing this story ❤
The fact that he essentially plagiarized (if not outright stole), the original characters you created for the shopkeepers absolutely infuriated me. You were beyond kind to him. The fact that he made you create characters for a project he should have known he would be unable to pursue from the get-go is also absurd. Your generosity and tolerance is commendable. I'm sorry it was wasted on that scum. I'm commenting hoping you get boosted in the algorithm and hopefully some good comes your way for the bs you had to put up with from this manchild.
Ah, yes. His favoritism with that artist is quite frustrating to see. So sorry you had to experience this and just wish Yandev to be gone from the internet as he's just generally a disgusting cockroach that keeps coming back.
I'm very sorry about what you went through!! As a former volunteer, I get where you're coming from with the "wanting to be a part of the game I love". Your art is fucking awesome and he didn't deserve your work. Hope you achieve your dreams!!! (PS, I loved your designs for the 80s shopkeepers, I feel like they gave the game some extra charm.)
Yandere Dev is one of the most fascinating anomalies I’ve ever seen - it’s honestly impressive that someone so consistently incompetent, depraved, and embarrassing even exists
I’m not surprised Alex’s head artist took total credit for it. So strange how she can do this and still be proud. Edit: I saw a comment that said she posted moodboards, too? THE FUCKING AUDACITY.
In the head Artist’s defense, there are actual changes. I’m not going to argue there isn’t copying going on, but it’s like Link versus Peter pan. The designs looks similar and there’s clear inspiration, but can you say it’s really the exact same? But I can completely agree their in the wrong for not crediting and saying they completely made them up on their own.
@@0XNC1-lz3ce Tracing your own art isn't bad though? It’s YOURS so you have the right to draw over it if you are having trouble with consistency or anatomy.
he's such a vile person. personality, ethics, interests, treatment of others - it's all so disgusting. it sucks he managed to fool so many people for so long. I cannot believe how there's not an singe ounce of decency in this human being. there is abolutely no redemption of "at least he did x". no. all of him is terrible. i hope he ends up rotting somewhere, with no one ever giving him even the slightest bit of attention. and I hope everyone who got wronged by him can heal overtime.
That is way too harsh. He's still human you know. Just because he hasn't done the greatest things doesn't give you or anyone else an excuse to be mean.
@@samis2642 he's a pedo and a groomer.... People like that who dont go out of their way to get the mental help they need for that kind of behavior and even embrace it deserve nothing less
'Placeholders' for a ""Better artstyle"", your shopkeepers designs look way better than the final ones and I hope you can use them for a better project
5:15 I find it strange and a little messed up that Yanderedev told this artist that Mulberry's art style was "better" suited for 80s mode when they drew the characters in their usual art style, it doesn't really look like an anime style from the 80s 💀
@@medievalarmorexptert6827 Sure, but it doesn't make a lick of damned sense to say "I want designs that look like 80s anime" and then use an artist that delivers a modern anime style and act like that's EXACTLY what he wanted. It's fuckin' not, and that's annoying as shit, dismissing someone's work for not meeting the given criteria and then taking somebody else's even though it ALSO doesn't meet the criteria.
Honestly, I was really impressed when the "placeholders" shopkeepers were replaced. The ones you made felt so much more like an 80's anime aesthetic, and I really liked them.
6:35 don’t feel bad that your work isn’t in Yan Sim- your work deserves to be in much better projects because frankly- you are way out of their league. I also wanted to say when they originally designs for the shop keeps came out- I fell in love cause it reminded me of the simplicity of some horror mangas back in the 80’s! I’m not sure if it was intentional but it’s really smart to have a simple art style because it invokes dread and the feeling that something is not right- very fitting to the game mode! This is especially important for the hair dresser- an actual serial killer you get the sense that there’s something not right with her and I love it!!!
5:04 struck a nerve. I fear I may be dead come the day employers finally start listening and recognising artists for what they can do and are good at. The experience thing really annoyed me for so many reasons.
Everything that happened to you fills me with fustration and rage. I'm not an artist, but what happened was so difficult to hear. So glad you're no longer working with him; he didn't deserve your art at all.
It’s so disgusting and disappointing that your hard work was treated like that, even though you were expecting the bare minimum I return, just credit. Good on you for speaking up and sharing your piece of the story. On a positive note, I personally LOVE your shopkeeper designs! The shipping possibilities for them is immense. I kinda want to draw them myself.
The shopkeepers are so awesome! I hate that your amazing artwork was just treated like crap. I hope you find some paid work becauew your art has so much potential!
I loved the shop keepers, you did an amazing job on the concepts and I hope you become extremely successful. Your art style is beautiful and you deserve respect ❤️
I've never been able to properly draw, so I have a great amount of respect for people who can actually make art for everyone to admire. It completely breaks my heart that hours of work and effort get tossed aside as if they were dolls a child no longer wants to play with. This probably isn't the only case unfortunately, but it is one of the saddest ones I've ever heard. I sincerely hope you are in a position were your work is actually being appreciated (even better if you are getting paid too).
I may be late to the party, but I'm glad you spoke up about this. Seeing those beta designs was really cool, and seeing the 1980's filter on them would have been cool. I hope that you will get to (or maybe already are!) getting to do something with either those characters or that style of design.
I've been aware of Alex's grooming behavior for a few years now. I was groomed at 14 and seeing him get away with it for so long seriously fucked with me.
As someone who’s was a fan of the game and especially the art style(it was one of my main reasons to start drawing) it leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth to someone who I’ve been a fan do something so vile and disgusting,I’m genuinely happy to see that most of the people who worked for Alex are quitting honestly you guys truly deserve to not have your talents wasted on a terrible project and I truly hope the people who are affected by Alex’s actions are doing well
I loved the 80s anime style you did. You did a spectacular job for something new, unlike Alex who will never be comfortable with new things and ideas. You deserve amazing games to work on and I wish to see your art in more things. Edit: And I’m sorry about what happened to you and that you worked for him, you are very talented and deserve so much more
Truth is, WankdereDev was never worth supporting. After over a decade of Cashdere Milkator, I was hoping all the nonsense finally died, so I'm surprised (and quite honestly disgusted) that it's still somehow stinking to this very day. I just casually stumbled upon this video, and after seeing your story, you seem to me like a wonderful human being and I quite honestly wish you the best. Cool designs, by the way! :>
That was such a rough time to face, I’m so sorry to hear that. Very unfair to have your work not being recognized in the first place. And yet, there’s also Alex becoming an even worse person. I wish you best of luck with your amazing art work & find better work environments for your art & happiness. 💚
I'm so sorry you had to go through all that!! I hate that there are still people supporting him, and I hate it even more when art isn't valued properly!!! You art is really good, and the character designs are on another level!! And I'm being very honest here
I’m never knew you made the original concepts of the shopkeeper you are REALLY good at character designs I was amazed by how they looked I’m glad I know who really made them
Surprisingly... I left YanSim after discovering Undertale first from its Easter egg in YanSim then fully joining the fandom and never paid attention... Gods, I never thought it will take such turn... Nevertheless, I am glad it didn't make you abandon your passion. Enjoy your life and everything good in it. You deserve it.
Bruh. It was a sign from God that was preventing me from volunteering that game because what you’ve been through is just trifling. You KNOW this game is gonna crash and burn.
sidenote, you did REALLY good on the work you made for the game! i actually really missed your designs for the shopkeepers when Alex replaced them with Mulburry's art, they were super cute
I remember loving your art for the shopkeepers so so much! The designs and style were so good and they made the shops feel almost homey. When I saw the art was replaced in a new update, my first response was "????? Why??? The original art was so good!" I still can't believe he replaced it like that :/
I'd love to commission you. Your work is great and it's completely unacceptable what he did. Don't look down on yourself for this. Alex is just not a good person.
Commission prices are on my Instagram. I wouldn’t recommend commissioning me right this second as I’m backed up on commissions (college is occupying me enough already) but I’d love to once I’m less busy :3
I'd also definitely commission them if I had any money digitally, I currently only have cash but I'm definitely going to commission them when I have money!
I remember being so disappointed when your art was replaced with Mulberry's, I always thought your original designs were extremely cute and way more fun! So sorry to hear about your experiences with that scumbag, glad you stood up for yourself tho!
I heard of the Yanderedev-related drama and I no longer support that creep. Sure, his project seemed to have potential, but with his true nature exposed, I believe the game's concept is better off as fanart & fanfiction, but this time without monsters like him being in charge. Honestly, Your artworks for the game look much better than the redrawn ones, and Yandev had absolutely no right to hurt You like this. Rememeber: if the so called 'famous yet demanding' folks like him can't appreciate simple but true art, then someone else will. Hakuna matata and God bless You dearly!
on your last point yess I love seeing redraws on the character designs, and your art style looks so delicious it would be great to see the characters be drawn as original concepts since rn they’re mostly just stolen/copied designs
Thanks for posting this! It’s very brave for you as an artist to expose harsh working practices (not even working, just volunteering which makes this even worse) to speak up about this. Much props to that, I don’t think I would have the guts to do so- ❤
Alex's actions are despicable by all means. A kind congratulations from me to you for breaking free of a very one sided business relationship. Your art has a very interesting and recognizable appeal, and whilst I have respect for the artists that fall under the "good" category, yours gives off the vibe of just... passion for something you really like, whilst the other smells like just a transactional exchange and nothing further. Good luck in any future positions you may find yourself in, and if I ever need an artist in the future for some kind of project, I would look forward to working with you. :)
If I had the ability to make my own version of YanSim (I’m a minor with no video game programming experience so unless I learn as an adult, it’s unlikely), I’d 100% hire you to work on art pieces for it :)
I honestly feel you. I did a couple of storyboards for a student film (not payed) I spent a few hours on it. Only to find after that it will be replaced by someone else
I'm 42 so for me I've always been an adult on UA-cam... But it absolutely floors me that your entire time dealing with him was from when you were in middle school to adulthood. Shows just how long he's been working on this... And further proof it will never be published. Thank you for sharing your story.
Recently found out the yandere dev drama, and geez. Some people who works for him got treated badly too, cases where the workers is treated like a "slave" or some sort by the superior feels disgusting for me. I dont have anything to say but feel sorry for her and all the people that he mistreated..
It sucks to know I used to support that pedophile, especially because when I was younger I was groomed, I hope he gets arrested as much as you do. I'll always know your Yandere Simulator work because you did phenomenally on it, I actually remember your shopkeeper designs and not Mulberry's rehashings, that's how well your work has always been known to me since it was so unique. I agree with everyone else, his controllingness is very indictive of his personality. You can't argue that he's like that due to passion, there's a difference between being very very passionate and scummy.
"if anyone whose NOT a pedophile wants to make a Yandere Sim game..." the fact that this specification is necessary is fucking hilariously pathetic, Yandere Sim and at least two off shoots have all died due to predator behaviour. This game is CURSED.
Your art is amazing. A very stylized take on anime. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that miserable pile of filth, to put it nicely. I hope you find success with your art, because you deserve success and support.
It’s so sad that Alex didn’t see your potential I REALLY love the designs and art you did for the game!!💜💜✨✨was super cool! It was a bad idea that you worked for him for free, because these things could happen, but you can learn from your mistakes I’m glad that Alex has been canceled for so many stupid decisions he made I hope you get a really good job as a designer and you get pay what you deserve🍀✨
Damn sorry this all happened to you. You got the skill to do something amazing with the art that you make I am sure of it and I am HELLA sure whatever that project could be it would finish before Yandere Sim would be finished even without all thats happened.
would have never known you were any part of this game until i stumbled upon this video. i only got awareness of alex' nasty behaviour months ago with the while grooming thing, but today i heard what other wrongs he has done. hopefully opening up to the world has made you feel better in any way. keep doing what you love, for yourself and for the ones who will correctly appreciate what you do👍🏽
Been looking at this video several times since I came across it the moment I heard the news about YandereDev like most of us did at the time. I wish he compromised in some way when he was doing the replacements, and if only he was more aware of what people working for him go through in the concept and design progress, he would've been an understanding developer, but no; once he had history of not taking criticism and being so demanding and not taking any new ideas (including variations of the thumbnails) without any efforts put into improving it, he'll always stay that way. I too hope his game rots. I can go on further about him in the future but that's for another day. I am pondering on whether I should get rid of anything I posted about Yandere Sim like I did with another game since I heard the news because like you did, I didn't want to be attached to a person like him. Your shopkeeper designs definitely fit the vibe a lot better; when I first watched videos of 1980s mode I saw them fit the town better; Plastic Love playing in the background; those designs deserved better. As for the shopkeeper, victim and bully designs, this is why I watched your video a couple times to get a good idea of how they might be reused in some way, but for now I have thought of different names for them that I got from Behind The Name and the Baby Name Books on my Kindle, ensuring they matched the way they were presented: Victim: Shizuko (Meaning quiet, and child) Bully: Shigeko (Meaning floruishing, luxuriant; like Purple I see her as rich but bratty.) Pink: Chika (Meaning Wisdom, Intelligence. She looks nerdy like Yellow as well) Red: Akane (Aka meaning Red) Orange: Kohaku (Meaning amber, which can be an alternative to orange for her jacket and bandana.) Yellow: Masami (Meaning become, or right, proper, and beautiful. I recommend keeping the primary idea of being into cosplay because it would convey the idea that she wants to become her favorite characters this way. If you said you get to keep your shopkeeper designs, you technically get to keep your main ideas for them as well; perhaps make them outside of Alex's view.) Green: Mayumi (Meaning real, and genuine, she looks like an employee anyone can rely on for advice) Indigo: Yuna (Meaning excellence, superiority, gentleness; I feel as though she acts more like the latter.) Purple: Toyoko (Meaning luxiriant, lush, bountiful; I imagine she's more luxurious, though I would replace her role as a shopkeeper of a controversial game mechanic with something related to fashion and luxury) I hope you get your work featured in another game in the future; your efforts behind each illustration deserve more coverage and deserved to be compensated in some way.
Hello, this is my first time stumbled upon this video (seeing get recommended, congrat) Yandere Simulator is the game that wasn't good to begin with til... Years later, everything started to unfold for all the WRONG reason. Man, oh man But with that out of the way 1st, I'm glad you got out of the most pathetic yet most evil manipulate piece of s*** person we've ever seen yet on the internet (There's also other people like him who does this horrible behaviour behind the scenes as well from us Gen Z viewers here have seen) Hope your hard work continues to shine and being supported by those who seek and admire art. Cause no one deserves to be treated badly by the horrible boss on the internet
Bruh im sorry you had to deal with that fucked up shit. You deserved better and i hope in the future you get a great job and recognition for your work.
I clearly remember seeing your work when 1980s mode first came out and I thought it was really cute and faithful to the 80s anime style! Huge shame that Alex made Mulberry redo it. No hate to her, I think her art is cool, but I honestly loved yours WAAAAY better and I was actually a little confused when I saw new videos of the 1980s mode build with Mulberry's art since I was like "wait what happened to the other art?". But thanks for the whole explanation, you totally deserved better! You're a great character designer! :3
I'm not surprised that Yandere Dev didn't pay his artists after all the other shit he's done lol. In any case, you're really brave for sharing your story! And also your designs are amazing (I really like your "avatar" or whatever you wanna call it).
What a jerk! Terribly sorry for the actions this vile creature put onto you, you have put in so much work into a game that has never been done, and someone else replaces all the hardwork you did. Just note your art is very beautiful! Don't let some douche come in and say otherwise, if this fool can't think it, screw him! Do the art for your own! And stay strong! Stay happy, and Stay positive. This man deserves none of your time.
Your avatar is quite unique in that fact that you give it a longer skinnier neck than most designs I’ve seen in the past. You make it work out pretty well.
Wow. That scumbag not only was a straight up pedophile, but he manipulated people into just giving him free labor that he was gonna then profit off of? Using art SEVERAL times over, repeatedly, on something you were probably never going to see any profit on? I'd have felt guilty after like, the second art piece, but this dude straight up demanded MORE on a budget of free ninety nine. If you ever made a new yandere sim, with a big f u to Alex, I'd be more than willing to support that. I genuinely love your art style, would love to even commission some art in the future if at all possible, as well. I wish you all the best, and I hope you don't have to deal with scumbags like that anymore.
I will say your version of the hair dresser is amazing and i am sorry that all of your hard work got replaced. I almost volunteered to help work on music for the game but i thought i was too busy with college and other project's at the time

As an aspiring artist and (former) yandere fan of the game not creator after all the deteriorating years of free labor respect for volunteers like you. So now inspired to work for better boss or indie games. Let’s see , but not gonna lie I secretly want to work on yandere content not for a game but a story wise with wasted potential
I hate the part where the artist was selfish enough to claim the ideas and concept design of your work like it was their own. ughhhh!! So upsetting to hear that.
Your designs are awesome; I love the feel your visual novel designs bring to the potential story, it gives off a somber yet calm vibe, it makes me wish there was a good game like that. Your art is just really sleek yet bursting with personality, and very good.
Girl, your work as a lot of potential and anyone who gets people to draw only to throw their hard work away deserves a big fat punch in a face, especially Alex. It's never too late to find a better project or make your own featuring your own characters, anyway! Oh yeah, I also decided the characters too Victim: Yuko Bully: Diana Pink: Momo Red: Alexa Orange: Sol Yellow: Rae Green: Pauline Indigo: Velvet Purple: Liliane
I'm very sorry this happen to you :( I know there that are people like that and that they shouldn't even ever exist >:C Thank you for sharing your story and I loved your art and designs!
Alex is definition of a manchild... dude got 7 deadly sins around his life, but in other hand i'm glad you leaving him earlier before getting caught grooming one of his underage fangirls...also by the way i like your drawings your art is very cute and simple its actually quite fitting for the 80s mode, by the way don't ever give up on your dreams girl ❤
Can I just say that the shopkeeper dubbed "yellow" reminds me of someone's cooky, yet really fun aunt- I love the designs you made, you did amazing! I'm sorry things went the way they did :(
Alex is a creep, a crappy boss, and a scam artist. Truthfully, you deserve to have your art being used by far, FAR better than that walking mistake. Your art is actually incredible. And he couldn’t see the magnificence of what he was given. I remember back in the early days when YandereSim was actually something worth looking into. Then all the dirt on Alex started surfacing. And the game stagnated…No thanks. I’m not supporting devs like that. But you, you are an amazingly talented artist and incredibly brave for coming forward and sharing your experiences. Never stop believing in yourself or your art. Edit: You should get in touch with someone to make your own game revolving around those characters. Those designs are amazing. They just scream classic 80s anime (and as a fan of Gundam which the OG anime debuted in the 80s I am ALL FOR THAT STYLE!) and it is amazing.
im very sorry about this. i looked up more about this online and found a reddit thread discussing the sprite change. someone commented they felt sorry for the person who made the original shopkeepers, and a few people replied saying they were pretty sure it was mulberry themself who drew the originals.. awful.
Hello! I am a big fan of your artstyle and believe me when i say that i played this game and when i went to the town in the 80s mode and saw the models changed i started looking everywhere looking for a possible update thinking it might be a bug i loved them so much they were so unique because imo yan sim is just a fetishy fantasy of alex with no imperfections or uniqueness so it feels liveless. Your quality makes me think the model’s story and personality when i knew he was a groomer my heart dropped not for him but for all the people that would be blamed just for being part of the project and of course, i felt so bad for the victim. I just wanna make you feel good and support you because you have something he doesnt have and it is uniqueness, ACTUAL FEELING actual emotions and not thinking of it as work but as a hobby and something you enjoy of and noone has to take that from you i hope you make a project of your own because ill be the first to support !!
Gotta love it, I always wanted to Volunteer for Mahan since I learned about the game in 2015 (I would have been 9-10 at this time) but not as character design, as a voice actress but I always had a weird feeling about him. It always conveyed an odd tone to me when I did watch his videos (the only like two or three times I watched them for updates when BijuuMike or KubzScouts hadn't made an update video) and I noticed how he was always oddly Monotone but there was always like some weird undertone with his voice and it creeped me out but I loved the game. I never supported him as a person and always thought he was also begging for money too and whenever I learned about his allegations (I was out of touch to the fandom) everything just kind of made sense about all my past thoughts on him, so thank you for sharing your experience with it honestly. I remember Michaela Laws saying how she was the only one on the VA side of the project who wasn't being paid and I thought it was strange and never occured to me that there were probably others who weren't paid either Edit: Obviously I don't feel that way anymore but the amazing voice acting of the og VA's is what helped kick me towards Voice Acting
the 80s mode debacle could've been very easy to solve though. even if you weren't going to be the main sprite artist for the game, you were still a character designer and should've been assigned and credited as such. designing a character and making art for them takes many steps, and many different drafts to get just right. i feel like in alex's mind, your art was the first rough pass, which he would then turn over to his main character artist to make the final pass. this is a normal practice in games and character design in general, it's a group effort among several people. the issue was that alex set you up with the expectation that you were going to be the main character artist, while also ordering you to use a different style than you were used to. it was practically setting you up for disappointment, and i'm sorry for that. if he'd just assigned you to be a character designer with the assumption that the main artist would build upon those designs for the sprites, this definitely would've ended better.
Thank you everyone for the massive support! People from my Instagram and tiktok and new folks from UA-cam! I made this video a few weeks ago now and I’m surprised do see all the views and support from my brand new UA-cam. Honestly, you nailed the 80s artstyle. The sharpness to the points, roundness to the eyes and simplicity of designs is really striking. Fuck yandev though, he can go off to gaol
That means a lot. I remember 2 years ago being so worried I wasn’t being anime enough with it. I had never drawn anime before that. So thank you
For someone not knowing anything about the style, it's a very solid first attempt. Memorable and simple
@theintrovertedcartoonist2002 If I ever make a game with a 90's anime style, I will definitely ask you!

Goes to show that his understanding of what makes anime what it is is very… twisted. It’s like the ultimate stereotype of what Western weebs think Japan is
shows how little research hes actually doing for the game :'
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Your style is so distinctive and unique, I actually thought the thumbnails you did for Yandev were some of the best ones he’s had. They stood out to me immediately. Thank you for sharing this story ❤
Hi, Calli! I agree, the original artstyle is way better!

In the head Artist’s defense, there are actual changes. I’m not going to argue there isn’t copying going on, but it’s like Link versus Peter pan.

I heard of the Yanderedev-related drama and I no longer support that creep. Sure, his project seemed to have potential, but with his true nature exposed, I believe the game's concept is better off as fanart & fanfiction, but this time without monsters like him being in charge. on your last point yess I love seeing redraws on the character designs, and your art style looks so delicious it would be great to see the characters be drawn as original concepts since rn they’re mostly just stolen/copied designs
I love your art style! It's so cute and original and I love how there's a faded sketch line. It really helps show the anatomy and design choices

Ok but the character designs sheesh your good girl! Maybe a successful company might accept your work!
As for the shopkeeper, victim and bully designs, this is why I watched your video a couple times to get a good idea of how they might be reused in some way, but for now I have thought of different names for them that I got from Behind The Name and the Baby Name Books on my Kindle, ensuring they matched the way they were presented:
Victim: Shizuko (Meaning quiet, and child)
Bully: Shigeko (Meaning floruishing, luxuriant; like Purple I see her as rich but bratty.)
Pink: Chika (Meaning Wisdom, Intelligence. She looks nerdy like Yellow as well)
Red: Akane (Aka meaning Red)
Orange: Kohaku (Meaning amber, which can be an alternative to orange for her jacket and bandana.)
Yellow: Masami (Meaning become, or right, proper, and beautiful. I recommend keeping the primary idea of being into cosplay because it would convey the idea that she wants to become her favorite characters this way. If you said you get to keep your shopkeeper designs, you technically get to keep your main ideas for them as well; perhaps make them outside of Alex's view.)
Green: Mayumi (Meaning real, and genuine, she looks like an employee anyone can rely on for advice)
Indigo: Yuna (Meaning excellence, superiority, gentleness; I feel as though she acts more like the latter.)
Purple: Toyoko (Meaning luxiriant, lush, bountiful; I imagine she's more luxurious, though I would replace her role as a shopkeeper of a controversial game mechanic with something related to fashion and luxury)
I hope you get your work featured in another game in the future; your efforts behind each illustration deserve more coverage and deserved to be compensated in some way.

I remember Michaela Laws saying how she was the only one on the VA side of the project who wasn't being paid and I thought it was strange and never occured to me that there were probably others who weren't paid either
Edit: Obviously I don't feel that way anymore but the amazing voice acting of the og VA's is what helped kick me towards Voice Acting
Your art is so beautiful :) I love the 80s art and thought it fit extremely well with the vibe of the mode.
The fact you did this for free and he did that... What an entitled prick. As an artist myself, my heart weeps for you.
the 80s mode debacle could've been very easy to solve though. even if you weren't going to be the main sprite artist for the game, you were still a character designer and should've been assigned and credited as such. designing a character and making art for them takes many steps, and many different drafts to get just right. i feel like in alex's mind, your art was the first rough pass, which he would then turn over to his main character artist to make the final pass. this is a normal practice in games and character design in general, it's a group effort among several people. the issue was that alex set you up with the expectation that you were going to be the main character artist, while also ordering you to use a different style than you were used to. it was practically setting you up for disappointment, and i'm sorry for that. if he'd just assigned you to be a character designer with the assumption that the main artist would build upon those designs for the sprites, this definitely would've ended better.
