Last season and this season there were no teams in the east playoffs under .50. Overall last year the east actually the better conference. If they manage the teams right they can easily surpass the west because they are starting to get older
As a conference, the Western playoff teams, won 44 more games than the East. Every team in the west, except the 8th seed (who tied), had a better record than their Eastern Counterpart... That doesn't equate to better in my book.
Sure, but championships matter. In the '10s the East and West split evenly the championships. Sure you can say it was Lebron going to the finals every single year, but it's not like Boston in '11 and the Pacers in '12-'13 were bad. You could turn around and point at the Lakers and Spurs who won all the West championships in the '00s. In fact, if Boston hadn't been robbed of that game 6 against Miami (flagrant foul against Rondo was a no-call) they probably would have beaten that dysfunctional Thunder team.

The west has also has some pretty great luck with the draft. Somehow they always sneak into the 1-spot when a franchise talent like Anthony Davis, KAT, Blake Griffin, Durant/Oden or Zion comes along. Then the East has it's power house teams lose it's star players to knee injuries like KG and Rose.
The East was the better, stronger conference as a whole overall compared to the West during the '80s & '90s. But, since MJ retired , the East has been the weaker overall conference compared to the West the past 15 -18 years.
Jordan made the East competitive because they had to draft and sign players to atleast compete w the Bulls dynasty but once he retired they lost that fire 🔥
East is now pretty good now with guys like Giannis, Irving, Siakam, Butler, Walker, Embid and soon Durant running the show not to mention guys like Simmons, Brown, Tatum, Young, Lowry, Olodipo, Sabonis, Vucivèic, Dinwidde, Lavine, Vanvleet, Drummond, Capela, Graham, Beal, Wall, Rose, Griffin, Randle, Middleton & Adebayo
Dzonikola it is right.. OKC also have that problem.. It just compensate with their GMs great pick ups.. Its hard to compete with the big Markets.. Boston and Miami are the only teams who can make an offer..

The other ones are mid-small markets.
This is pretty simple when you think about it. In the 90s all the good players left the east so they didn't have to face MJ. Then they started coming back slowly, then Lebron showed up so everyone started leaving again. And if a guy like Ben Simmons, Giannis, Michael Porter, Markelle Fultz, etc becomes the next dominant player everyone avoids ends up in the east will get even worst.
Rasuke11 foh the east was ass. The bulls was the most stacked team in that era. If you say the Knicks and Pacers were good enough to beat them then you played yourself
Highschool LBJ better than Overrated MJ The fuck are you talking about 90's basketball? Clearly you are like 13 years old. And yes, the East was as good as the west in the 90s. Jordan was just that good.
I think that people underrate the importance of a good front office. If you look at successful teams, you'll see that a good front office is always key. Look at Boston, Philly and Miami......all 3 of them were in a state of rebuilding the last 5 years or so. All 3 took different routes to rebuild. But all of them have been very successful when it comes to rebuilding with young talent, putting good teams together etc. etc. the main reason the west is so good, is because their front offices are much better than their counterparts. That is WHY great players keep choosing to go there. It all comes down to the front office, it holds everything in their hands.
From 2008 to ~2015 the east and west were somewhat balanced, at various times the celtics, cavs, bulls, pacers, heat, and even magic were title contenders. The east then dropped off when the celtics and magic traded their stars, the pacers and bulls fell off, which just leaves lebron's team.
The East is gonna dominate the next 15 years. All the young talent is in the East now. Look at Philly, Knicks, Bucks, Bulls, Wizards, Celtics, and the Cavs just got younger and may add a lottery pick.
The east has sucked for approx. 10 years. Back in Jordan's day, the east was tough with the Bulls, Pistons, Knicks, Pacers and Cavaliers. But today, the east is awful and it got worse with George leaving.
The .500 teams in the west that didn't make the playoffs get lottery picks. The .500 teams in the East makes the playoffs, and don't get a lot of lottery picks.
@@charlescooks9360 Yup. Similar to what happened back in the '80s and '90s. When it was the other way around. East teams with winning seasons missing the playoffs. While the West had teams with losing seasons making the playoffs. Until the shift changed in the 2000s. Also, most of the West franchises front office is better run compared to the East since then. The Spurs drafted well during their down yrs/lottery tho (mid-late '80s and '97). They almost always do.
Dude. I haven’t been much of an NBA guy since the Bulls and MJ. I’m a huge Carolina guy. I do watch a bit of the playoffs. But love your videos man. Keep up the great work sir.
Fast forward to years later since 2019, the Eastern Conference has shown drastic improvement thanks largely to former Western Conference All-Stars Kevin Durant and James Harden among others.
I've been bin watching your videos man and I think you do a great job! You don't cornball it up, curse, or make lame jokes in attempt to make your video "better". Keep it up and you gotta new subscriber bro
60's - EAST (West didn't win one time all through 1960 - 70) 70's - DRAW (from 1970 - 80 each conference got 5 chips) 80's - EAST (1980-1990 Celtics x3, Sixers, Pistons x2) 90's - EAST (Bulls 6 championships) 00's - WEST (Lakers x4, Spurs 3x ) 10's - WEST (Warriors x2, Spurs, Mavericks)
Fast forward to 2023 the wet western conference is inferior, it is ludicrous that the nuggets only needed to finish 53-29 to get home court advantage throughout the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The Suns only needed an abysmal 45-37 record just to be a top 4 seed.
I always feel western conference does better as they are more attractive in free agency. When I was an exchange student in the US I prefer the west coast compared to the east coast, of course my comparison was Auburn vs Santa Barbara but in general west coast seems more lively and dynamic with more diverse group of people whereas East coast just seems so industrious, if we use it as reference more eastern executive just use hype as the guide to scout whereas in the west, they find the one who is a right fit for the organization which eventually draw top free agents. And for the players, the environment in the west coast I describe would be more preferable as these guys are millionaires and would wanna spend their money
I like the video. The one thing most videos fail to include is the lack of management in the East. They draft stars and then trade them away for nothing rather than to let them mature. One thing someone mentioned is the West Coast life and cities are much more relaxed. In the East , there may be a lot of pressure from media and fans to do something now, now , now. Notice how the west teams just rebuild by, draft , FA , etc And then emerge ?Seems like the East teams don't have the patience to do the same. 76ers have been an example but the injuries to their guys have been rough.
Exactly! Sleep walk through the lame East and get totally slapped in the Finals. Making that adjustment from playing the top team in the East to playing the best in the West was just too much to ask.
When people try to figure out how to fix the NBA playoffs, I always jokingly say "just take the 9 & 10 seed in the West, and put them in place of the 7 & 8 in the East". This video almost makes it a legit solution.
Andy Hoops - I have been involved in basketball a good part of my life as both a high school and college player and coach and I must say your analysis is spot on! I've been a strong advocate of taking 3 or 4 of the strong teams from the West and shifting them to the Eastern Conference in order to create more balance and healthy competition for the overall good of the game. After all, their are at least 7 or more teams in the West that are as good as or better than the top 2 teams in the East. But, alas, I'm afraid it will never come to pass.
It goes in cycles. Back in the day the east was much better. Dr J - 3 titles. Larry Bird 3. Isaiah Thomas -2. Michael Jordan -6. The East was way better than the West. The Showtime Lakers had absolutely no competition in the West during this era. Similar to LeBron's Cavs.
Andy Hoops, you make some good points with this video, but I'd like to add a couple of points to the discussion: 1) Prior to the advent of social media, marquee free agents got the most exposure by going to larger media markets. This greater exposure would lead to increasing the awareness of these players' brands. Today, players don't have to go to a market like New York because they are able to get their brands out to the masses through social media and the internet. Furthermore, the market that a player plays in is less important than playing in higher profile games. Players are looking to play for better teams regardless of where they are located because the higher profile games will raise brand awareness. 2) The NBA has a systemic problem on its hands with the way that it is currently constructed because better teams are rewarded with higher draft picks. In the 2014-2015 NBA season, the New Jersey Nets were the #8 seed at 38-44. By comparison, the 45-37 Oklahoma City Thunder, 39-43 Phoenix Suns, and 38-44 Utah Jazz were better teams (even though Utah had the same record) but they were rewarded with better draft picks for not making the playoffs in the West. This current system is what is perpetuating the Eastern Conference being the weaker conference. The NBA could solve this by playing more of a balanced schedule and having the best 16 teams make the playoffs regardless of the conference. In doing so, the best teams will make the playoffs and the weaker teams will get the better draft picks to improve. However, this will likely not happen any time soon because 75% of the NBA owners would have to approve the change, and a lot of those owners are concerned with their own self-interests rather than improving the NBA as a whole.
with Magic the thing was: Penny Hardaway suffering injuries, Nick Anderson have a horrible game that ruin his carrer, the Magic dont give Shaquille O'neal the contract he deserve back then (ok, they do gave the contract, but it was too late, the Lakers offering him what he wants and so.. he's gone to LA) and Horace Grant was already old
@Vitor Hara 1995 Orlando Magic: Shaquile O"Neal ( age 23 ), Penny Hardaway ( age 23 ). MJ returned after an almost two-year break, the Bulls had a terrible record: 34-31, he did not have chemistry with the new players on the team. 2014 Nba Finals. Kawhi Leonard ( age 22 ) - FMVP . Kawhi was not even a star in 2014, unlike Shaquille O"Neal, who was already a superstar in 1995. Derrick Rose ( age 22 ) - 1x MVP ( 2011 ) 2018 ECF: Rookie Jason Tatum ( age 19 ) vs Lebron James. Still needed 7 games to beat the Celtics.
There is a really easy solution to balance NBA and make it fair: get rid of conferences and divisions, every team plays every team 2 times (=58 games), make playoff a contest of top 16 teams (1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th, and so on).
those two points are yes, not obvious but has good and solid foundations. maybe, the market in the west and reputation it built as tough and winning conference are other things. EXCELLENT JOB!
How can you not bring up the Celtics when talking about the future of the east? I mean, they're nothing more than a team that just made the conference finals, added a top 3 draft pick AND signed an all star. No big big deal? Huh.
Finally someone agrees with me. I would actually argue the East has been weaker than the West since the 80's. Going back to 79, the East usually has one team that is a legit title contender, sometimes 2, while the West consistently has had 3-4 teams that could win the championship every year (Just think about the late 80's to early 90's, Lakers, Blazers, Rockets, Suns, Sonics, Jazz...the competition was insane). Since 1998, the east has only posted a winning record against the west twice. (I can't find stats before 1998) When listing the franchises with the best record since their inception, the East only posted 3 teams (Celtics-#3, Bulls-#8 and Heat#10)
Another factor to consider is injuries and declined performance. D-Rose got injured, severely weakening the Bulls. 76er's top draft picks were injured, the 2012 Knicks were good on paper, but they couldn't perform on the court. Deron Williams degraded, Bynum was sent to the East and basically disappeared. Before Dwight was traded to LA, he was already injured.
In the 4 round format, there have been 9 instances that a 1-seed has 56 or less wins. In all 9 of those instances, no team from that conference won the championship. *Worst 1-seed records in the 4-round format (1984-present)* 2000 Pacers - 56-26 2001 Sixers - 56-26 2014 Pacers - 56-26 1984 Lakers - 54-28 1999 Heat - 54-28 adjusted for 82 games (lockout) 2007 Pistons - 53-29 2017 Celtics - 53-29 2002 Nets - 52-30 2003 Pistons - 50-32 In the 4-round format, 8 of the 9 top seeds with 56 or less wins came from the East, the lone exception being the 1984 Lakers. That was the first year the NBA adopted the 4-round format for the playoffs. It is also interesting to note that in 6 of the 9 instances that a 1-seed had 56 or less wins, in the 4-round format, the team representing that conference in the Finals lost in only 4 or 5 games. In other words, the team that represents these weaker conferences in the Finals does not even put up much of a fight when facing an actual championship team in most cases. The exceptions are - 1984 Lakers - lost in 7 - 2000 Pacers - lost in 6 - 2003 Nets - lost in 6 The lowest record 1-seeds of a conference to win the championship are the 2010 Lakers and 2016 Cavs, tied at 57-25 apiece, with both those teams being the 1-seed themselves.
Nice video man. It's kind of funny that my friend and I are playing 2k19 as expansion teams and we both moved to the east. We're in 2024 and our teams are finally near the top plus the 76ers, pistons, and pacers are usually better than the majority of teams in the west. The top team in the west is the bucks (we moved them) and LeBron went back to the cavs who are also still contending. Boston and the nets are strong as well. In general the east is better and when we worry more about more teams there when we make the playoffs. I know it's a video game but with years in the future it's funny how the league has changed
It's actually very simple. Free agency allows players to go where they want and most people would prefer to live in the west. Especially when you consider the basketball season is fall-spring which are the worst times to live in the East due to weather.
Only exceptions during the nba season for weather are Orlando and Miami. Miami is always getting good talent it seems, but Orlando seems to be a front office issue I suppose. Maybe also the fact that it’s more of a retirement centered old people city
To be fair, historically the East has always been the stronger conference. The 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s was all Eastern, they were the stronger side with the better teams and stronger fan base. Then from 1999 till now, the West just started to take over, the Lakers dynasty, the Spurs dynasty and the Warriors Dynasty was all in the West. This was all following the rise of the Internet, basketball in Europe, the digital age in general, so as more global eyes were on the product, the West capitalised on that perfectly, they had 2 dynasties in the early 00s vying for donation of the league, that made for exciting TV. Then you had the Warriors Dub City dynasty. You couple all that up with smart phones and social media, made it so the West just became more commercially viable.
Alan Leon Yet they want him to go West because its easier in the East, but it really wasnt that easy.Lets see if they complain when the Warriors make the finals every year, they swept through the whole west
Alan Leon I would have given you hard time about Kyrie Irving and the celtics, but since this post was almost 6 months ago I will cut you some slack lol
The East already have John Wall Dwight Howard Bradley Beal Isaiah Thomas Gordon Hayward Hassan Whiteside Carmelo Anthony kristaps porzingis Kevin Love Kyrie Irving Kyle Lowry DeMar DeRozan Giannis antetokounmpo markelle fultz Joel embiid D'Angelo Russell LeBron James The East still has a upgraded Washington Wizards Boston Celtics a slightly worse Cavaliers raptors they have teams that are contenders and they have the the Bucks on the rise so I say they are still pretty good
"Most of the best players in the league were either drafted by a western conference team or traded there" and so were all the other players who play in the western conference
West has 15 chips since 1999 and only two went 7 games. Numerous sweeps and gentlemen sweeps as well. Head to head the West has been dominant and has won every year except one (21 of the last 22 years). First team all NBA selections also go to the West and so do MVPs. Didn’t the West have a 50 win team be an eighth seed with the Nuggets, crazy. The West has been the dominant conference, the East this coming year is probably going to be the best that I have seen in a long time so they might catch up in a couple of years. But since 1999, the West.
Let's be real...When was the last time the West was truly impressive? Outside of the Warriors, we've had an aging Spurs team, 2 teams known for choking (Clippers and Rockets) and some relatively weak teams like the Jazz and Blazers. I'm tired of this "East is weak" talk. How about the whole NBA has been weak outside of 2 teams? Hopefully the Thunder, Rockets and Celtics made the moves to make things better, but somehow I doubt it.
Deric Gregory Been saying the same thing. They look at records the teams have in the west and say the east should win near the same amount of games as those west teams. And they swear the west has like 4 contenders when in reality it's only 3 teams spurs, warriors, cavs
Not really chocking, the Clippers and OKC had the talent to win it all, but injuries played a huge part. In the last 5 years, Spurs, OKC, Clippers, etc.. They were all considered contenders. The Warriors took over the league and the Spurs somehow remained relevant. Compared to the east, even the pitiful hawks managed to have a decent record, even the celtics last season had the best record.. And both teams are pathetic, a healthy clippers could easily defeat them, imagine GSW and Spurs? Imagine the Hawks facing a healthy OKC? That's the key point here, even the strongest eastern team can't win agains the third best team in the west. Even LeBron with his cowardice, seeking shortcuts and etc.. Even his superficial teams were not capable to beat the west.
The whole chocking concept proves how strong the west is. If you put the clippers and rockets in the east they'll dominate it automatically. That's just how bad the east is. The Jazz and Blazers are relatively weak if compared to the Warriors, Spurs, Rockets but they're not weak teams. They have a solid systematic culture in place. The same can't be said of a Charlotte or a Philly, or a Knicks, or a Nets, and even Milawaukee
But look at the standings lets just say the kings a almost 500 team in the west but arent making the playing but the pistons have the same record and are tied and could be tied with 3 teams in the heat and magic
Let’s not forget.. in the west you have teams like Dallas, Houston, Los angles, Bay Area, Portland, Denver, Utah are the cities these teams play at. In the East Chicago, New York, Boston &Miami (Orlando I guesssss) are the only cities people ACTUALLY live. So the fan base is naturally going to be smaller in the East
The disparity is mostly due to the fact that most of the All-NBA squads play for the West, but even draft rules are helping to keep some of the balance of power out West. Each season, 7 East teams and 7 West teams get lotto picks, unless picks were traded. So, even though a couple of those West teams are actually better than the low playoff teams in the East, they get better draft picks. In 2015, the Thunder were better than the East's 6th, 7th, and 8th seeded teams, but got to pick before any of them. In 2014, Phoenix won 48 games, and if not for trades would've picked ahead of 4 East playoff teams. In 2013, Utah was better than ATL and Boston, who had lower draft picks. Etc. Eventually, it'll turn around, but it gets pretty ugly. Just imagine how ugly it really would've looked if the NBA played a completely balanced schedule and you played every team the same number of times.

00's-West
10's-West
80's was not a tie lmao, the West was terrible
Right, the Lakers was like the Cavs today!
Jay facts, the west only had the lakers and maybe you could argue the rockets
zach Horvitz also the west and east in the 90s was pretty even.you can arguethat outside the bulls the west might have been a little better.. rockets with hakeem and their cre, Utah with Malone and skocton hornacek, Seattle with Payton Kemp schrempf, phx with kj Barkley marlje, San Antonio with David Robinson, etc...
Josh R but the East won 7 rings in the 90's to the West's 3
The west has also has some pretty great luck with the draft. Somehow they always sneak into the 1-spot when a franchise talent like Anthony Davis, KAT, Blake Griffin, Durant/Oden or Zion comes along. Then the East has it's power house teams lose it's star players to knee injuries like KG and Rose.

“Atleast Lebron is still in the East!”
*Lakers enter the chat*
The East was the better, stronger conference as a whole overall compared to the West during the '80s & '90s.
But, since MJ retired , the East has been the weaker overall conference compared to the West the past 15 -18 years.
Even with Jordan and a young Shaq the east would still lose in the All-Star game.
All Star gm? Who cares lol
Jordan made the East competitive because they had to draft and sign players to atleast compete w the Bulls dynasty but once he retired they lost that fire 🔥
@@MrEOM41 This is very true.
And the west has the warriors, Lakers, clippers, rockets.
I agree with you the east has the future of the NBA on their side players that will take over after Lebron retires
This didn’t age well Simmons is poop
Easy answer: better franchises in the west
Adam Tizani nope
Dzonikola it is right..
OKC also have that problem.. It just compensate with their GMs great pick ups..
Its hard to compete with the big Markets..
Boston and Miami are the only teams who can make an offer..
tiismuna is Detroit and Chicago considered big markets?
@@robertolebron2296 Chicago? Yes. Big market. Detroit? No, mid-small market.
Big markets in the East are NY, Brooklyn, Philly, Miami, Chicago, Washington, Boston, Toronto. Pretty much the entire Atlantic Division and then a few from the other Eastern Divisions.
In the West. The Big markets are LA Lakers/Clips, Houston, Dallas. That's it. The other ones are mid-small markets.
joe smith ok. Thanks for the info. But what about San Antonio? It's a big city and won 5 Championships
I think it’s safe to say at this point, the East is getting closer to the West.
West is still more talented but the gap is getting closer.
Lebron is 3-5 the west is killing him wouldn't it make sense you rather play against Lebron because the west beats him more there not running from him
Rasuke11 foh the east was ass. The bulls was the most stacked team in that era. If you say the Knicks and Pacers were good enough to beat them then you played yourself
Andrew Ortiz 3-4 2007 don't count. Nor 2015 so 3-3
who left east to avoid jordan exactly? name one good player that went from east west
Welp East has better Playoff matchups
Sixers vs Raptors
Bucks vs Celtics
Is better than
Warriors vs Rockets
Nuggets vs Blazers
Imagine thinking that nuggets vs blazers is a shit matchup
Rafael Dizon Lakers vs clippers

The east has sucked for approx. 10 years. Back in Jordan's day, the east was tough with the Bulls, Pistons, Knicks, Pacers and Cavaliers. But today, the east is awful and it got worse with George leaving.
The era of MJ on eastern was the beast day! After MJ retirement they all gone...
Fast forward 2019 raptors win the championship
But the east is trash
AKG927 because all the warriors players got injured they still trash if even klay didn’t get injected they still would of won all they needed was klay
HYDRO Fann see how it feels??
The .500 teams in the west that didn't make the playoffs get lottery picks. The .500 teams in the East makes the playoffs, and don't get a lot of lottery picks.
this is a good point
@@charlescooks9360 Yup. Similar to what happened back in the '80s and '90s. When it was the other way around. East teams with winning seasons missing the playoffs. While the West had teams with losing seasons making the playoffs. Until the shift changed in the 2000s. Also, most of the West franchises front office is better run compared to the East since then.
The Spurs drafted well during their down yrs/lottery tho (mid-late '80s and '97). They almost always do.
The east still needs a lot of help.
Sounds like bad moves by GMs
I’m glad the East improved a LOT this year. So much more fun to watch
Dude. I haven’t been much of an NBA guy since the Bulls and MJ. I’m a huge Carolina guy. I do watch a bit of the playoffs. But love your videos man. Keep up the great work sir.
No one cared
Fast forward to years later since 2019, the Eastern Conference has shown drastic improvement thanks largely to former Western Conference All-Stars Kevin Durant and James Harden among others.
I've been bin watching your videos man and I think you do a great job! You don't cornball it up, curse, or make lame jokes in attempt to make your video "better". Keep it up and you gotta new subscriber bro
60's - EAST (West didn't win one time all through 1960 - 70)
70's - DRAW (from 1970 - 80 each conference got 5 chips)
80's - EAST (1980-1990 Celtics x3, Sixers, Pistons x2)
90's - EAST (Bulls 6 championships)
00's - WEST (Lakers x4, Spurs 3x )
10's - WEST (Warriors x2, Spurs, Mavericks)
Pre 1976 or whatever was not the NBA, just a heads up. There were only 2 rounds in the playoffs
3 rounds
didn't Celtics lose once in the 60's?
Lakers won in 1969 bro
Kevin M and 2010
Fast forward to 2023 the wet western conference is inferior, it is ludicrous that the nuggets only needed to finish 53-29 to get home court advantage throughout the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
76ers have been an example but the injuries to their guys have been rough.
the pacers got olaldipo to build around Myles turner
ouch
james harden the bearded that's horrible 😂
They should’ve been aggressive when they had Paul George but Larry Bird was content with the team being mediocre
Rj Gamboa not horrible at all
And now it's they got Victor Oladipo in an absolute steal and they're building around him primarily and NOT Myles Turner.
This is the main reason why Lebron has so many Finals appearances and Finals losses.
Exactly! Sleep walk through the lame East and get totally slapped in the Finals. Making that adjustment from playing the top team in the East to playing the best in the West was just too much to ask.
@@gdiggedy9 Yeah
This video hasn’t aged.
it did aged well
When people try to figure out how to fix the NBA playoffs, I always jokingly say "just take the 9 & 10 seed in the West, and put them in place of the 7 & 8 in the East". This video almost makes it a legit solution.
that's true the east need to organize their teams
I love your channel bro keep up the good work!
Man this video has aged well but hasn’t aged well at the same time😂😂😂😂
Andy Hoops - I have been involved in basketball a good part of my life as both a high school and college player and coach and I must say your analysis is spot on!
Andy Hoops, you make some good points with this video, but I'd like to add a couple of points to the discussion:
1) Prior to the advent of social media, marquee free agents got the most exposure by going to larger media markets.
Funny how of the 6 current superstars in the league, 5 are in the west. Kawhi, curry, KD, Westbrook, and harden while only lebron is in the east
TheCephalon d
Bb Boy, so eastern conference teams are overpaying for shit players? LOL. Players in Texas seem to make the most with taxes n such
You're forgetting Antetokounmpo and (if he can stay healthy) Embiid. Also poor Porzingis (hah, pun) who has to play as the lone wolf on the Knicks.
Funny how half of them were playing together for OKC Thunder once
As an Orlando Magic fan, I APPROVE THIS VIDEO, and your section on Orlando was SPOT ON. We have the WORSE management and GMs in the league.
The east has been a joke since the GOAT mj retired
I Feel Like Yeezus literally the only one you know from that era
with Magic the thing was: Penny Hardaway suffering injuries, Nick Anderson have a horrible game that ruin his carrer, the Magic dont give Shaquille O'neal the contract he deserve back then (ok, they do gave the contract, but it was too late, the Lakers offering him what he wants and so.. he's gone to LA) and Horace Grant was already old
@Vitor Hara
1995 Orlando Magic:
Shaquile O"Neal ( age 23 ), Penny Hardaway ( age 23 ).
Derrick Rose ( age 22 ) - 1x MVP ( 2011 )
2018 ECF:
Rookie Jason Tatum ( age 19 ) vs Lebron James.
Still needed 7 games to beat the Celtics.
And this year everything has changed with Milwaukee, Toronto, Indiana, Boston, Philly and Brooklyn
2019 and 2020 the bucks have the best record in the nba

There is a really easy solution to balance NBA and make it fair: get rid of conferences and divisions, every team plays every team 2 times (=58 games), make playoff a contest of top 16 teams (1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th, and so on).
Make it three times a year (87 games) and that may just work. Course, I don't know if the unions would go for 5 extra games a year, but still...
GRABA85 It's fine the way it is. I like the current format.
I saw this video, so I pressed it immediately.
those two points are yes, not obvious but has good and solid foundations.
maybe, the market in the west and reputation it built as tough and winning conference are other things.
EXCELLENT JOB!
How is Bradley Beal not even an all star he averages more than 20 ppg he is THE most underrated in the east in my opinion
Great video and keep up the good work. God Bless.
How can you not bring up the Celtics when talking about the future of the east? I mean, they're nothing more than a team that just made the conference finals, added a top 3 draft pick AND signed an all star. No big big deal? Huh.
Roberta Cucinotti lmao Celtics are trash
@andy hoops : why the east suck
Raptors in 2019: hold our beer
during 90's, jordan is dominating the east. one of the reason why players are moving in the west.
Looking back at this the east is really good a lot of great young players and the east is led by Giannis Antetokounmpo
I love coming back to this video and seeing how well those Pacer comments aged LOL
The east is great now (2018-2019 season) Milwaukee Bucks might be champs
*Raptors
esast is ass
*2021 champions
Another factor to consider is injuries and declined performance. D-Rose got injured, severely weakening the Bulls. 76er's top draft picks were injured, the 2012 Knicks were good on paper, but they couldn't perform on the court. Deron Williams degraded, Bynum was sent to the East and basically disappeared. Before Dwight was traded to LA, he was already injured.
celtics bruh really. they goin be great this season hayward from the west went to the east.
Chris Miller yeah that was the only good move tho. Celtics will be really fun to watch tho
Yikes
In the 4 round format, there have been 9 instances that a 1-seed has 56 or less wins. In all 9 of those instances, no team from that conference won the championship.
*Worst 1-seed records in the 4-round format (1984-present)*
2000 Pacers - 56-26
2001 Sixers - 56-26
2014 Pacers - 56-26
1984 Lakers - 54-28
1999 Heat - 54-28 adjusted for 82 games (lockout)
2007 Pistons - 53-29
2017 Celtics - 53-29
2002 Nets - 52-30
2003 Pistons - 50-32
In the 4-round format, 8 of the 9 top seeds with 56 or less wins came from the East, the lone exception being the 1984 Lakers.
The exceptions are
- 1984 Lakers - lost in 7
- 2000 Pacers - lost in 6
- 2003 Nets - lost in 6
The lowest record 1-seeds of a conference to win the championship are the 2010 Lakers and 2016 Cavs, tied at 57-25 apiece, with both those teams being the 1-seed themselves.
Celtics are doing well...
I know it's a video game but with years in the future it's funny how the league has changed
kawhi was never in the west he was on pacer but got traded to spurs
Hi ' Duke is shit
That's true, but the Spurs told the Pacers to pick Kawhi because they already had the deal in place to send them Hill for him

NOW LEbron in the west
It's actually very simple. Free agency allows players to go where they want and most people would prefer to live in the west. Especially when you consider the basketball season is fall-spring which are the worst times to live in the East due to weather.
Was searching for someone to say this. Common sense ain’t so common it seems😂
Only exceptions during the nba season for weather are Orlando and Miami. Miami is always getting good talent it seems, but Orlando seems to be a front office issue I suppose. Maybe also the fact that it’s more of a retirement centered old people city
Bro the east is always great a eastern team is usually always in the finals

Ali A I'm just saying that the east breeds the best competition you butt hurt ugly 10 inch thigh gapped bitch.
chris king oh someone is mad cute. Also DUH. The east has a larger population than the west but that should be common sense.
Ali A Then why did you try to argue in the first place?
“At least Lebron is in the east”😂😂😂
great content, keep up the great work
also with out LeBron the east wouldn't win nada
Alan Leon Yet they want him to go West because its easier in the East, but it really wasnt that easy.Lets see if they complain when the Warriors make the finals every year, they swept through the whole west

BEAR 22 Markelle fultz???? maybe in the future but fuck no right now
"Most of the best players in the league were either drafted by a western conference team or traded there" and so were all the other players who play in the western conference
They don't suck
But the west is better
In 2016 the western conference playoffs was amazing and in 2015 too
Not really chocking, the Clippers and OKC had the talent to win it all, but injuries played a huge part.
At least you still have the "again Spurs team" and "choking Rockets". In the East, besides the Cavs, you have... no one.
3 years later, the 8th seeded Spurs, have a better record than the 4th seeded hornets...
“LeBron is still in the East,” 😂😂😂
Andy: East Sucks
Bucks: We have the best record in the NBA...
But look at the standings lets just say the kings a almost 500 team in the west but arent making the playing but the pistons have the same record and are tied and could be tied with 3 teams in the heat and magic
your team was 1st because its the east
You forgot Boston bud
Let’s not forget.. in the west you have teams like Dallas, Houston, Los angles, Bay Area, Portland, Denver, Utah are the cities these teams play at. In the East Chicago, New York, Boston &Miami (Orlando I guesssss) are the only cities people ACTUALLY live. So the fan base is naturally going to be smaller in the East
East about to dominate soon tho, embiid, Simmons, porzingas, giannis, Kyrie, Tatum, etc
Tony Phan I agree with you.
Tony Phan We're going to see it soon.
Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Porzingis, Ntilikina
We have a lot of young talent, so do the Celtics, 76ers, and Bucks lol
