Best character in the game by far, for me. I love everything about her, from her style and showmanship to her vulnerable side. I'm going to be a little sad when the story takes us out of Fontaine. Not just for the characters, but the aesthetics and the music.
I watched Furina's demo and was immediately curious whether you'd do a reaction to it because of all the different segments it's composed of! Glad to see you did end up doing an analysis of it ((and forever amazed at the ability of musicians to focus on the ost alone, as someone who's attention will jump all over the place))
Thank you so much for this analysis, Marco! I didn't expect Singin' in the Rain to be brought up for this analysis (it was my grandfather's favorite film dance sequence 😊). Much like Gene Kelly does in that moment of the film even if he supposedly had a fever while shooting that sequence, Furina even does the iconic street lamp swing in a moment when her character feels so overjoyed that she's giving her whole performance to the moment, even as rain falls/ there's chaos unfolding in the background (to great comedic effect in the demo trailer 🤣). I love this homage very much!
Furina's story that you can read in the character menu says that she absolutely adores little creatures and on occasion would sneak out to play with them, except the creatures don't love her back and many have attacked her in return of her attempts at affection. You can see it in 4.1 archon quest where she's chasing that cat and the cat's having none of it. However, her favorite creatures are the seals or flubberbeasts as they are called in Genshin and that's solely because no matter how much she prods and wrestles the seals, at most they would make an annoyed noise. So hence why in this trailer she "fights" the seal but you can see she misses all of her swings and the seal just lies on it's back but you can see it looking up in the end of the section. Meanwhile, the crab is fought for real because it would attack Furina upon her attempt at playing with it.
The lyrics took me by surprise as I'm French. They perfectly make sense with Furina's character : she keeps living in entertainment without worrying about the tragic happenstances around her.🤔 Such negligecting was also blamed upon France nobles before the Revolution
6:35 *Drops immaculate bars* - "Everything is easy because life is great Even though I'm actually hiding some deep dark secret Heehee" 6:43 *Realisation followed by nose rub*
I love the electro swing on her demo trailer and was pleasantly surprised at the end to hear dialogue in French no less. What a fun demo, really suits Furina’s silly and stylish character aha.
Also fun fact, when she’s on the swing and the character switch sound effect plays, she’s imitating all the in other archons we’ve met up until this point, and you can see the curtains change colours to correspond to their aligned element
10:17 Words cannot express how much i LOVE this sequence, not only is it hilarious and charming but that Violin is absolutely killing it, like im obviously not a musical professional so my descriptions may not be accurate but i would describe this as a hip-hop/pop kind of beat but with a Violin as the main instrument, i seriously don’t know how to describe it, all i know is that im in love with this demo lol.
Also fun fact in the KR vers of the Furina trailer , she actually did a small opera high pitches and its confirmed that she has training not sure if its opera or not but its great to hear it.
coincidently, the fountain archon quest also goes in 5 acts, while in one thru 3 it's shown as for the understanding of the fountain, while the story deepens in 4th, we're directed as the keyhold of the act, from scooping childe, disguising to the fortress, digging the secrets here and there what makes me astonished is despite we're the mc, in fountain, the protagonist is not us, the dev tried to make many perspective from navia's pov, neuvilette, lyney, even furina herself. it's really like we watched the whole act of fountain while we also help solving the case within, this demo somehow spoiled the entire act without trying to spoil the players, that's a chad move from the dev
8:29 i just love that small details that Furina actually copying other archon's iconic pose like nahida on the swing, venti with the lyre, raiden's sitting pose and zhongli throw moras like the first time he makes it and give it to people. And every scene she showed it yhe crowds below her changed according to what archon's nation that she copy
Furina's three companions in her ousia-aligned mode are not oceanids, they're xenochromatic fontemer aberrants, which are the critters you find swimming around Fontaine's waters whose abilities you can copy. Incidentally, Furina's passive reduces the cooldown of said abilities when she's in the party. In her pneuma-aligned mode, however, she does appear to summon an oceanid.
someone already commented the lyrics - but it is indeed french singing at the end of the demo. as someone who speaks a bit of it, I knew it was french but couldn't distinguish exactly the words. hoyo using that is very bold, and very exciting for the future! whenever they do go vocal, they absolutely kill it.

Great analysis btw, we'll never know how much details the composers hid if not professionals like you.
Yes! I was waiting for your reaction, lol. Everyone was missing all the phrases and melodies I kept noticing. I had a feeling you'd have sources for my theories. The "singing in the rain" reference feels rather similar when you look deeper into the plot of the film in regards to the characters "Lina and Kathy". Almost feels like Furina is Both Lina and Kathy.
I love how the theme and music transitions at 9:30 with white furina catching the hat and taking over the show. And the whole plot goes rogue with everybody acting out of character and swaping roles, which is supposedly referencing the Theatre of the Absurd (French: théâtre de l'absurde), coresponding to how furina plays out as an comedian defying herslef to defy the world and the fate of teyvat as hinted in her pv.
I like how you say your profession in the title and actually analyze the video with you profession unlike many who'd say their profession and it ends up having no relevance to their reaction.

I really adore her, also her themes are amazing, one of my favourites actually, bittersweet. Hidden melancholy and loneliness behind cheerful and positive outlook.
Even though I know Shakespeare is the original source, as a Rush fan I instinctively associate this quote with their amazingly relevant song “Limelight”: All the world’s indeed a stage And we are merely players Performers and portrayers Each another’s audience Outside the gilded cage
As always, nothing is random in Genshin, from the title of a song to the casual lore dropped since the beginning of the game, and that now is relevant.
The number of details in both her teaser and demo still make them both classics to me. I’ve seen a lot of comments mention the references to the archons, so I’ll bring up a couple of other details I know about. 10:15 - this section is all about role reversals. Furina photographing the photographer, Charlotte. Childe running away from a fight. Navia arresting Neuvilette. Lynette acting as the magician and Lyney the assistant. The master diver getting stuck in his own equipment. The teaser is all about peeling away layers of deception. 13:43 - the camera pans out to show everything until now has just been still images Furina is showing us. 14:50 - the backdrop until now is revealed to just be a stage prop and not the real outdoors. 15:00 - we’ve been looking at Furina through the mirror until now. 15:12 - the tinted lens is removed. 15:24 - her mouth hasn’t been moving the whole time. 16:14 - we’ve been from the perspective of the dog mek this whole time. 16:39 - the prophecy. Anyways, I’m not actually smart enough to notice this stuff, I just saw these comments on the official channels for these videos, and figured I’d type it up for anyone who hadn’t.
So cute right?
Love how you know so much from just the music. Was looking forward to your reaction. Very detailed as usual.
I appreciate that!
Its the trademark dog-owner "pure color shirt covered in dog hair while the perpetrator is walking around in the background" for me.
I live for big band swing. It made me so so so excited when Furina’s “performance” began. The horns are gorgeous.
(As always I adore your videos.)
6:35 *Drops immaculate bars* - "Everything is easy because life is great
Even though I'm actually hiding some deep dark secret
Heehee"
6:43 *Realisation followed by nose rub*
I love the electro swing on her demo trailer and was pleasantly surprised at the end to hear dialogue in French no less. What a fun demo, really suits Furina’s silly and stylish character aha.
Marco be like "has she been outed as an oceanid"
My man...
Oooooh, this was a delicious analysis. Thank you so much!
Of course, Furina gets an Electro Swing theme.
Also fun fact, when she’s on the swing and the character switch sound effect plays, she’s imitating all the in other archons we’ve met up until this point, and you can see the curtains change colours to correspond to their aligned element
Furinas trailer was so cool! Definitely in my top 3 with neuvillette
I was so excited for you to get your hands on this demo lol I knew you'd have so much to say about it and its just so fun and full of whimsy
coincidently, the fountain archon quest also goes in 5 acts, while in one thru 3 it's shown as for the understanding of the fountain, while the story deepens in 4th, we're directed as the keyhold of the act, from scooping childe, disguising to the fortress, digging the secrets here and there
what makes me astonished is despite we're the mc, in fountain, the protagonist is not us, the dev tried to make many perspective from navia's pov, neuvilette, lyney, even furina herself. it's really like we watched the whole act of fountain while we also help solving the case within, this demo somehow spoiled the entire act without trying to spoil the players, that's a chad move from the dev
Thanks for this amazing analysis. I always loved Furina demo, and I think it has the best music so far cause how much it is contribute to her story as a character, not just as background music. But I can’t put it into words any better than you🤩
Man I find myself leaving your videos feeling smarter. I’ll share this with my sis later as she loves when people break down the music and history.😊
10:42 Marco's face expression was incredible xD
I'm late on this but I really really enjoy your analysis and your willingness to demonstrate your ability to vocalize what you hear. You definitely picked up on some details that I totally missed! Thank you and subbed :)
Hi :)
@@MarcoMeatball you’re on the ball lol. Have to love a responsive content creator! As a musician it’s wonderful to see other artists react to things they’re passionate about.
“I wish that was all it took”
That’s why she’s the archon 😂
Yo the part about French opera having 5 acts literally happened in Genshin’s Chapter IV (Fontain’s storyline). There is also a dance sequence before the finale 😮
4:34 You know she is a god when only a little "aaa" makes her voice ready to go hahaha.
ty for making this video, it was a complete analysis that I didn't know I totally needed! People like you make all the effort behind each note totally deserved! ♡
You're very welcome!
Having done both the Archon quest and her story quest it is pretty interesting to come back and watch the demos, and you commentary on them.
This is the exact reason why I love Genshin Impact. This game includes a huge variety of cultures, actually respects them and present them rather accurately in a beautiful way. Most other current games only focus on one culture, but Genshin Impact tries to present them all. If this game finishes in such quality in the 4.2 update, I'd say it deserves a contribution to world peace prize for video games.
Everytime i see one of your videos i get the chills , your content is amazing for any music enthusiast and you explain everything so beautifully
That is so lovely and sweet!
Glad to see you love the trailer too, Marco
I don't know if I'll watch other videos from you, but I'll subscribe for sure. that was really good
I always love hearing you break down the music in these videos, thank you!
You got an upvote with your beautiful “warm up” notes I was taken by surprise man
🤣🥰
I love her demo so much and was looking forward to your reaction! Fontaine has a lot of Art Deco elements so all the musical references to 1920s are really fitting
When i heard the vocal in the demo... I was waiting for your video reaction cuz i know you will loved to react to it and im dying to see it 😂
I love the melody in the teaser, it's so soft and beautiful
I'm so late to this! But at 11:11 your description was how I felt! I feel like it's when the leader at a circus is introducing everyone or thanking everyone for coming
The fun thing about the "all the world's a stage" quote from Shakespeare is that it's not just a meaningful piece but also a pun when you realize his performances were held in the Globe Theatre back in the day
Absolutely love your musical breakdown of these trailers. Furina is a gem, I love her so much. Hope you enjoyed Act 5!
This is the beauty of Marco's review
You get to learn something new about music, what message is brought with certain tone and sometime even their history as well
aaaaaaaa i knew i was gonna eat well once your reaction/analysis to furinas demo and teaser came out
love it!
omg yess!! i was eagerly anticipating your reaction and thoughts on Furina’s music!! the teaser trailer is soo intriguing and i love that it’s basically a slowed-down version of Fontaine’s theme… as for the demo it’s EASILY my fave demo out of all the archons and im so incredibly hyped for Furina and the conclusion of the Fontaine archon quests 🤩🙌✨
Another Marco video, another jaw-dropping analysis. I've been hearing all about the weird things happening on video and the lack of an applause at the end but I had no idea that there was an ominous hint in the form of music 10 seconds into the trailer.
1:05 Acts with a dance action around 4! That's what happens in the Demo (well, if acting like fighting is dancing in this case) that you just uncovered few seconds in! Respect!
I always find these types of videos very teaching and I love them. Thanks for making them.
The reaction I was waiting for the most for Furina
I just want a full clean version the song playing in the last part I loooved the lyrics and the rhythm it feels like Furina's anthem enviting us to live in the moment "profitons d'aujourd'hui" ❤
Hey Marco! In her story quest, there is actually a song that she sings. It's gorgeous and I can't stop listening to it, I highly recommend you react to that as well.
It's always nice to see a musician's perspective on my favourite character demos. Right from the get-go you have observations to share, it's fantastic. Love how much you loved the singing section of her demo 😊
My first thought when i watched the demo was "I can't WAIT to see Marco's reaction to this!!" I was so excited all day!
Found your video by chance after watching her demo too, I was like 1 minute in and I already liked it!
You have really good vibes and made it very enjoyable to watch it with you. It was quite a surprise to see that you know your stuff about music, but then you started singing so it made sense. 😅
I also learned a lot ahaha, that's amazing, I really loved your explanations and trust me, I travelled with you to the 20s and could imagine all of the influences you talked about.
Keep up the amazing work Marco! I'll have so much fun watching your content, I'm sure of it, you have a new sub!
Aw hi! Welcome in :)!
I really adore her, also her themes are amazing, one of my favourites actually, bittersweet. Hidden melancholy and loneliness behind cheerful and positive outlook.
10:39 I saw this trailer when I woke up 12 hours ago and have been waiting ALL day since then for Marco to react to this exact moment
Even though I know Shakespeare is the original source, as a Rush fan I instinctively associate this quote with their amazingly relevant song “Limelight”:
All the world’s indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another’s audience
Outside the gilded cage
I was waiting for your reaction, so interesting and instructive as always. Great, thanks Marko! 😊
Understanding the depth really enhanced my viewing experience.
This entire time I thought he’d already finished the 4.2 archon quests because he knew so much already.. TOT
