Furina's character arc is great. You start off annoyed by her dramatic personality, and as the story continues, you start to realize that she's keeping quiet on something massive. Before the big reveal, everyone is so frustrated with her because she keeps keeping quiet, so the big reveal that she's been quietly suffering for centuries for the people's safety just makes everyone feel so bad for her.
Even if others didn't like paimon in SQ, Furina as a character is still pretty incredible, Fontaine gave me 2 of my favorite characters, in Furina and Neuvillette, and the funny thing is when I saw the trailer, I thought I was not gonna like then and here we are

This is probably the most French patch we'll ever get, thanks to Furina. We have this French vocal in her Demo, then theres this French Vocal for her Story Quest. I don't think we'll get any more French than this haha
@@dominustempus8969 both of them were a bit bad in this quest, traveler was a bit more chill but they still didn't listen to furina's boundaries and some of their answers tried to justify paimon whose dialogue did annoy me a lot of times, it was so weird they wrote them like that actually the english translation is way worse with the things paimon said, when i read it in spanish it was a bit upseting but not like that, there's a line after furina tells the traveler about how she feels and paimon says ''paimon is surprised you're making yourself go through all of this'' but in spanish is ''paimon didn't imagine you were being so hard on yourself'' another one paimon says ''that sounded so smug! ugh the second hand embarrasment is unbearable'' but spanish says ''and you're proud of that? that's embarrasing'' the conversation at the start sounds more light hearted on spanish too, like yes it still sounds as if they're trying to make her feel guilty which is very frustrating(they're not trying to at all but it sounds like it in the way they keep saying the people at the troupe are gonna feel sad) but the game tries to throw some jokes from furina here and there to make it less serious while in english it plays without them so it feels very rude when she's clearly saying she has boundaries like is still not good but for some reason the english version makes paimon sound like she really dislikes furina at times which is very weird i still didn't like it tho, they didn't treat her very well compared to raiden's mission when furina is clearly a bit traumatized about acting and they keep pushing her, yes is later clear she still wants to act on musicals but the quest doesn't show this progression properly they just push her into this situation even when she said no, if she was showing to be doubful since the start its more understandable but she wasn't so it feels disrespectful

And in Italian, e, è, and é would have different pronunciations, even if the difference is very subtle (and as my native language is Russian, where those wouldn't even be separate phonemes but allophones, variants of the same phoneme, the subtlety is even stronger than for someone whose native language actually has that distinction). So, yeah, not much of a change, but it's still nice that the correct variant is there

The way Paimon treated her in her story quest pissed me off bro, I like Paimon but sometimes it seems like the writers make her annoying and an asshole on purpose, Traveler isn't too far behind either, there was that scene where he takes her hand and takes her without her consent, and she has already refused saying that she wants to act or get involved. Deep down we know she wanted to know more about the It's a piece from "the little oceanid", but wasn't there a better way for the traveler to bring her instead of just forcing her physically???

the characters trying to metaphorically tell someone else's story in the story quest, also end up telling furina's story. that's as spoiler-free as i can be lol hope you enjoy her story quest the ending was indeed beautiful and just added to my archon quest-induced sadness. i guess everything she interacts with in this story teaser symbolizes something about her traumatic past and how she can move forward towards the future after all that
This quest symbolizes everyone, Clio as furina, not being able to tell her secrets, as well as it's unseen sacrifice, focalrs who died for the people who also went unrecognized, the people of Fontaine who put the blame on Furina aka Clio, and the people also didn't know of the sacrifices that had to happen for their lives, and pretty much, the leading guy is also Neuvillette, hoyoverse even hired a singer to interpret La Vaguelette in Neuvillette's perspective, so it's pretty much official that the leading guy is indeed Neuvillette
Quests really does tell the stories, or foreshadows. Theres the poetry event where its about an oceanid falling in love with a human, and then there is this, who also have that as the theme. Theres also kaeya's story quest where he replaces an actor to play a prince who defies his destiny, and then come dain telling us that alberich was the name of those who starts abyss mage.
I did a blind listen to this when it was released, then watched the video with Cécilia Cara, and then the story teaser. I was blown away each time. And then full body chills for almost the entire piece. Dimeng Yuan created an incredible work of art that captures every bit of emotion needed to understand Furina without knowing anything about her. I also love how they released an instrumental version without the melody as if they are really encouraging musicians to run with it. I definitely will be.
Dimeng yuan is absolutely deserving as a successor of yu peng chen, heck he made some of the most notable enkanomiya OSTs like At dawn and dusk or Hope and Nostalgia and Tearless souls of Byakuya.
This scene from Furina's story quest made me want Genshin to introduce us to a playable character who actually is in a relationship. Not implied to be interested towards someone. Not a character implied to have feelings for the Traveler. And especially, not one shipped by the community. Someone's who's actually in a loving relationship and possibly even have children of their own. I've seen them create very "human" characters and stories, I want them to challenge their writing by creating a very "human" playable character.
yeah, Furina's arc deffinetely change my perspective about Genshin Impact, the fact that they can pull this off, great writing. And like u said, I want a character that really have someone in relationship like a lover, really can't wait how far this game in the future.

Marco already voiced a character from fontain. It was named dvorak and was part of a event in liyue. That character came from fontain so we might see him again in a future event.

As a musician I'm impressed by the Hoyomix team to nail the French style pieces/songs, they keep delivering even after Yu Peng Chen's departure. They surely have spent countless hours researching the "formula" for each region's music.. melodies, arrangement, orchestration.. what a team! I'm mainly a classical musician now but I have exposed myself to various type of world music (so much amazing stuff out there but so little time I have! 😭), so this just makes me appreciate Hoyomix team and the composers even more.
Can't believe genshin wrote a character this good lol. The entire fontaine cast has just been nuts compared to other regions, but Furina's story specifically was handled so well.
Vision is related to strong wish. She got the the vision not was because of the sacrifice, but because she realized her wish. Furina find her passion in performance again at this time. That was why she got the vision.

It's a bit of column A and B; her sacrifice made her more worthy to receive it, and Neuvillette waited for her to finally rekindle her passion for performance and find a new lease on life after stepping down from being Archon to give it to her since it's an object that embodies ambition and ideals and it's likely a necessary step in the process of actually obtaining one imo.

What I noticed in spite of anything... Fontaine 2d animation style is just... What's the word? Complexity dynamic and colorful? Like its tailored to be western type of comics but in anime style drawing? 😂 The songs and choice of coloring only cementing that details for me. Also, not just Fontaine, I feel like the 2d cutscene getting better and better like the story did. Hopefully they keep us surprised in this kind of setting 😂

I finally had the time to play it during thanksgiving break and I got very emotional during this cutscene and the song like it reminds of Yun Jin’s song during shenhe’s quest… the emotion and beauty in the music in this game is unique in soooo many ways
So glad you're caught up Marco. I had kinda fallen off Genshin due to normal content fatigue. But they really blew it out of the water (heh) with this Archon quest narratively and musically. Leave it to a few good musical themes to hook you right in the feelings. It's been revitalizing for my Genshin enthusiasm.
Its crazy that in 4.0 I go from thinking Furina is annoying to being the character I most resonate with after act 5. Growing up in an environment where perfection was expected brought a lot of feelings about imposter syndrome, burnout, and depression, and seeing how Furina carries herself after everything it really hit me on a personal level. This whole story just blew me away.
They really played into the stage aspects in the song….it has all the qualities of broadway musical. I swear, they don’t tell any of the musicians they’re working on a F2P mobile game. There’s a level of polish and professionalism that you just don’t expect outside the dedicated discipline. The opera is given the respect and effort of a real opera. This is given more effort than most of the stuff currently on broadway
Notre langue française est tellement mélodieuse lors d'un chant, un opéra ou bien même la narration part le biais de la musique ! Ce qui est le plus surprenant, c'est de voir les retours positifs des autres pays ne comprenant par forcément ce qui est dit/raconté. I don't speak French besides being able to fake a French accent or pronounce some English words borrowed from French more or less accurately, but I really like the way that it is included into the game. As a Russian myself I'd love to hear a talented Russian singer in Snezhnaya hehe

I can easily mention that I struggle to demonstrate any true emotion whenever it comes to video game storylines, ever since I incorporated the gamer role. But, understanding Furina's lore as a whole and then dealing with this cinematic is... a full blown impact. Every now and then, you can make me easily cry cause the descending vision is what's gonna make me curl down and cry alot, for she deserves that and alot more than you expect. The quest was amazing, especially Furina's character. The writers really know how to write real people (personality, conflicts, etc). I guess people are just too senseitive nowadays. Traveler and Paimon acted proper with Furina - which is whats best for her. They are genuinely caring.
So without spoiling too much; this isn't Furina's story, but the lines 'if you become human, you can reveal your secret to no one. You will face suffering, and loneliness' are extremely relevant to her own story.

If anyone is interested by the singer, her name is Cécilia Cara, she is a well known singer that does lots of musicals and theatre plays (How fitting)

I loved her ever since the beginning. It's just that I came in Fontaine, first saw her and just, there's something in her that I really liked in her and just went up with it, I kept telling myself that there's a lot more in her than people see, I was kinda upset when people were judging her actions, and character when the Fontaine arc wasn't even finished and when 4.2 released with the ending of the chapter, I was absolutely heartbroken with her story, 500 years of neverending mascarade, pretending being a divine, a god, having a burden of her people's expectations and hopes without a single break, bottling up her feelings and having no place to let go of them except her bedroom and even there she had to silently cry feraing to attract Celestia's attention, she had to go though all that alone only with hope for her mirror self's unknown plan and not even knowing when it all will end, the amount of her suffering and lostness when it all finally ended, she's free but doesn't know what to do now? How will she live without it and can she return her original personality when she can't even remember who she was before all of that? After her story quest and new event with the film I felt really relieved that she now has a place and role in this world that she enjoys and if something happens, Neuvillete will help her shall anything happen 🙂

Furina is an Oceanid transformed into a human, hence the Little Oceanid story impacts her own life. Within the Little Oceanid story, Furina repeats her self-sacrifice mindset for the struggling artist trope on a smaller human scale. Furina's character "flaw" is inherent with Focalor. Vision-equipped Furina restores her dual appearance characteristics which include Focalor's long hair.

the characters trying to metaphorically tell someone else's story in the story quest, also end up telling furina's story. that's as spoiler-free as i can be lol hope you enjoy her story quest the ending was indeed beautiful and just added to my archon quest-induced sadness. i guess everything she interacts with in this story teaser symbolizes something about her traumatic past and how she can move forward towards the future after all that
This quest symbolizes everyone, Clio as furina, not being able to tell her secrets, as well as it's unseen sacrifice, focalrs who died for the people who also went unrecognized, the people of Fontaine who put the blame on Furina aka Clio, and the people also didn't know of the sacrifices that had to happen for their lives, and pretty much, the leading guy is also Neuvillette, hoyoverse even hired a singer to interpret La Vaguelette in Neuvillette's perspective, so it's pretty much official that the leading guy is indeed Neuvillette
Quests really does tell the stories, or foreshadows. Theres the poetry event where its about an oceanid falling in love with a human, and then there is this, who also have that as the theme.
Theres also kaeya's story quest where he replaces an actor to play a prince who defies his destiny, and then come dain telling us that alberich was the name of those who starts abyss mage.
I did a blind listen to this when it was released, then watched the video with Cécilia Cara, and then the story teaser. I was blown away each time. And then full body chills for almost the entire piece. Dimeng Yuan created an incredible work of art that captures every bit of emotion needed to understand Furina without knowing anything about her.
I also love how they released an instrumental version without the melody as if they are really encouraging musicians to run with it. I definitely will be.
Dimeng yuan is absolutely deserving as a successor of yu peng chen, heck he made some of the most notable enkanomiya OSTs like At dawn and dusk or Hope and Nostalgia and Tearless souls of Byakuya.
This scene from Furina's story quest made me want Genshin to introduce us to a playable character who actually is in a relationship. Not implied to be interested towards someone. Not a character implied to have feelings for the Traveler. And especially, not one shipped by the community. Someone's who's actually in a loving relationship and possibly even have children of their own. I've seen them create very "human" characters and stories, I want them to challenge their writing by creating a very "human" playable character.
yeah, Furina's arc deffinetely change my perspective about Genshin Impact, the fact that they can pull this off, great writing. And like u said, I want a character that really have someone in relationship like a lover, really can't wait how far this game in the future.

As a musician I'm impressed by the Hoyomix team to nail the French style pieces/songs, they keep delivering even after Yu Peng Chen's departure. They surely have spent countless hours researching the "formula" for each region's music.. melodies, arrangement, orchestration.. what a team!
I'm mainly a classical musician now but I have exposed myself to various type of world music (so much amazing stuff out there but so little time I have! 😭), so this just makes me appreciate Hoyomix team and the composers even more.
Can't believe genshin wrote a character this good lol. The entire fontaine cast has just been nuts compared to other regions, but Furina's story specifically was handled so well.

Vision is related to strong wish. She got the the vision not was because of the sacrifice, but because she realized her wish. Furina find her passion in performance again at this time. That was why she got the vision.

This is likely due to her receiving her Vision from a Dragon Sovereign instead of Celestia.

It's a bit of column A and B; her sacrifice made her more worthy to receive it, and Neuvillette waited for her to finally rekindle her passion for performance and find a new lease on life after stepping down from being Archon to give it to her since it's an object that embodies ambition and ideals and it's likely a necessary step in the process of actually obtaining one imo.

What I noticed in spite of anything... Fontaine 2d animation style is just... What's the word? Complexity dynamic and colorful? Like its tailored to be western type of comics but in anime style drawing? 😂
The songs and choice of coloring only cementing that details for me. Also, not just Fontaine, I feel like the 2d cutscene getting better and better like the story did. Hopefully they keep us surprised in this kind of setting 😂

I finally had the time to play it during thanksgiving break and I got very emotional during this cutscene and the song like it reminds of Yun Jin’s song during shenhe’s quest… the emotion and beauty in the music in this game is unique in soooo many ways
So glad you're caught up Marco. I had kinda fallen off Genshin due to normal content fatigue. But they really blew it out of the water (heh) with this Archon quest narratively and musically. Leave it to a few good musical themes to hook you right in the feelings. It's been revitalizing for my Genshin enthusiasm.
Same I haven't played consistently for a while and my sumeru is like 20% exploration but fontaine revitalized my love for this game, especially act V

Its crazy that in 4.0 I go from thinking Furina is annoying to being the character I most resonate with after act 5. Growing up in an environment where perfection was expected brought a lot of feelings about imposter syndrome, burnout, and depression, and seeing how Furina carries herself after everything it really hit me on a personal level. This whole story just blew me away.
They really played into the stage aspects in the song….it has all the qualities of broadway musical.
I swear, they don’t tell any of the musicians they’re working on a F2P mobile game. There’s a level of polish and professionalism that you just don’t expect outside the dedicated discipline.

I don't speak French besides being able to fake a French accent or pronounce some English words borrowed from French more or less accurately, but I really like the way that it is included into the game. As a Russian myself I'd love to hear a talented Russian singer in Snezhnaya hehe

Furina single-handedly redeemed Genshin writing for me, first time I actually felt really invested.
I can easily mention that I struggle to demonstrate any true emotion whenever it comes to video game storylines, ever since I incorporated the gamer role. But, understanding Furina's lore as a whole and then dealing with this cinematic is... a full blown impact. Every now and then, you can make me easily cry cause the descending vision is what's gonna make me curl down and cry alot, for she deserves that and alot more than you expect.

its a Story of a "Little Oceanid" who turned to human that fell in Love to someone but she have to reveal herself (true form) to SAVE her love one and the People but in return well, pain and loneliness
the music piece isn't exactly her story, but because it was so similar to her past she became the singer for it in the game.

The quest was amazing, especially Furina's character. The writers really know how to write real people (personality, conflicts, etc).
I guess people are just too senseitive nowadays. Traveler and Paimon acted proper with Furina - which is whats best for her. They are genuinely caring.
So without spoiling too much; this isn't Furina's story, but the lines 'if you become human, you can reveal your secret to no one. You will face suffering, and loneliness' are extremely relevant to her own story.

The interpretation of the song representing two voices of Furina, where Furina is the main vocal and Focalors is the opera singing in the back that guides the song just BLEW MY MIND, It's so brilliant and genius, I love this and never would've come up with this on my own! I have lost count of how many times I have listened to this
I loved her ever since the beginning. It's just that I came in Fontaine, first saw her and just, there's something in her that I really liked in her and just went up with it, I kept telling myself that there's a lot more in her than people see, I was kinda upset when people were judging her actions, and character when the Fontaine arc wasn't even finished and when 4.2 released with the ending of the chapter, I was absolutely heartbroken with her story, 500 years of neverending mascarade, pretending being a divine, a god, having a burden of her people's expectations and hopes without a single break, bottling up her feelings and having no place to let go of them except her bedroom and even there she had to silently cry feraing to attract Celestia's attention, she had to go though all that alone only with hope for her mirror self's unknown plan and not even knowing when it all will end, the amount of her suffering and lostness when it all finally ended, she's free but doesn't know what to do now? How will she live without it and can she return her original personality when she can't even remember who she was before all of that? After her story quest and new event with the film I felt really relieved that she now has a place and role in this world that she enjoys and if something happens, Neuvillete will help her shall anything happen 🙂

Within the Little Oceanid story, Furina repeats her self-sacrifice mindset for the struggling artist trope on a smaller human scale. Furina's character "flaw" is inherent with Focalor. Vision-equipped Furina restores her dual appearance characteristics which include Focalor's long hair.
