Every 15 minutes or so, checking the title of the video, oh yeah, we're still getting to the timing chain 😂 Great video seriously thank you for showing every single step, so it's no surprises when we actually get around to it 👏
Oh my god, the amount of effort that he put in this video is amazing, I don't think that there is any video on youtube which explain in this detail, like this one thank you so much for helping us, you are amazing
The amount of ease you seem to be having with taking things out... It's makes me cry. My 02 is fighting me EVERY. STEP. OF. THE. WAY. 4WD actuator. Chemically welded. Chain guide bolt cover plugs. Locked up. Whole thing. Nightmare. Hotel. TrivaGo. Joke over, The head gasket blew out. Sprayed hot oil into the alternator. I love that vehicle. And I will fix it myself even though I should just pay an expert.
I wish I could come work with you. You are so patient and explains everything. I got the 04 Envoy about 5 years ago from someone that gets them from Auctions, so I don't know what Maintenance had been done to it before getting it. I've been trying to get the sparkplugs changed but having problems trying to get the wire plug Disconnected, the one that's on the top back of the canister thing that the air filter hooks to. So I went and bought some sockets and ranches in a set weeks ago and some jack stands
And just to think, all the bottom end dissasembly is just to get one 10mm bolt out that some genious engineer decided to bolt to the timing chain cover.......id like to meet that guy!
Definitely one of the best detailed videos out there! Very nicely done! Thank you for the video and the great help that will provide so anyone going to this extensive job!
Hey this guy is awesome! Thank you for your no BS video. Straight to the point! First time I’ve ever worked on a timing chain and this guy made it fun and simple. Thanks bro.
Great video! Im currently doing this job right now. That crankshaft pulley bolt is giving me most trouble. How long did it take yall to take out this bolt?
Every other video I saw said to remove the rack and pinion and remove oil pan. I have an 05 trailblazer and the cover isn't coming off as yours. Do I have to revive oil pan?
Great start to finish video. Amazing how much bottom end disassembly you have to do. As mechanically inclined as I think I am I don't think I would attempt this job. I would definitely need a few specialty tools to complete, although, my Florida TB is cleaner to work on and is a 2WD I'm guessing there may be a little less work on the bottom end. Just curious on how many miles were on it to need a timing chain?
I am going to be doing this job in the fall. Already replaced full front suspension, alternator, water pump, tensioner's, clutch fan, wheel bearings , axles. While I have this apart, do I replace the rack n pinion, radiator and thermostat. What else should I consider changing being the truck will be torn down. Obviously all gaskets will be replaced.
Looks like you are getting ready to pull the motor just to change the timing chain . What is up to doing all of that if you don't pull the motor. I would hate for him to show how to change the spark plug he would start at the rear end and work forward. Did he smoke a Doobie and forgot what he was doing.
If you hold a marker tip up the ink flow’s back away from the tip so it won’t release anything 😁 jk bud definitely the best video I’ve seen for the vehicle hands down and way more explanatory on parts and safety tips. Also I have no idea why but for some reason you seem like the chill kinda person to blaze a jay with lol something tells me your funny af 😂 just saying
My brain had a anxiety attack after the 30th screw you took out. Do u just put all the screws in a pile and know which one goes where when putting it back together..
Excellent video thank you for sharing it. I did it on my car. Everything came out perfect except for the fact that my AC only blows out the defrost now I can’t get it to come out the vents for some reason and I haven’t touched anything on that. Any suggestions?
So would any of you go through with purchasing one of these trail blazers if the power steering pump, transmission, & brakes were just done on a 2008 with 145 k miles selling for $800 & now the timing chain just went out.
La cantidad de mano de obra mas las herramientas y el elevador es dificil para alguien que empieze en la mecanica o quiera hacer reparacion por su cuenta como es mi caso vea que hay gran inversion en materiales
Awesone vid. But is bizarre you have to remove knuckles, axles, driveshaft, and steering rack in order to remove oil pan, so you can then remove oil pick up, so can then remove timing cover. Good grief.
I have a 2008 with over 270,000 miles, suspecting the timing chain is going, it's probably as rusty as the one in this video, maybe worse, not worth it! I'll buy a new vehicle before I spend time and money to go through all this hassle! And I just put new tires on it!
Great Video. But what a stupid design just to change the timing chain. Why not design something just to remove the front cover and change the timing chain instead of removing the oil pan and everything around it just to remove the front cover to get to the timing chain.
Utter embarrassment. Get better with Tahoe design, NOT! Ever wanted to drop the tranny pan and change filters, ya our genius GM engineers stuck the exhaust pipes on top of the pan so either cheat or literally take on 2-4 extra jobs. Embarrasse.
+Adam Tamillo We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

I have been doing repair for over 35 yrs in my Auto shop and have never done one of these before. It is an AWESOME VIDEO. Thank You !!!!
So basically, remove vehicle from timing chain.
this procedure just to change the timing chain! Brilliant design!
I cannot believe with all that rust that everything came apart that easily. You are very calm. Its like watching bob ross fixing vehicles. Thank you!!
+@jc9930 Thank you! We love empowering our customers and showing how to perform DIY auto repairs with our high-quality auto parts. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I'm currently doing this. I would love to meet the engineer that decided to put the axle shaft through the oil pan.

I’m just gonna find another trailblazer and rebuild the engine out of it and swap them out…with all the work it takes to do this, might as well
Geeze. 2WD seems like it’s be a bit easier but that is a major flaw in design. Great video tho. This is one of the best I’ve seen. 👌🏼

In this case, I would jack up the battery and put a new vehicle under it
Thank you I needed the laugh. I'm definitely a bit in over myhead with this job but I got it. Great video by the way.
@@carlosserrano3920 were you able to do this job without any issues? It looks quite complicated. Looks like a nightmare.
😂I think that's what I'm about to do, thanks for the tip.
So if I'm going to be doing my oil pan on a 2005 Chevy trailblazer 4 x 4 should I follow the same process all the way up till you drop the oil pan
I will NEVER buy a Trailblazer. Your Vid convinced me,
Wow, Amazing video. I think I have this issue unfortunately, I need to consider if I'm going to put the effort into doing this.
Wow. Not for the faint of heart.
What did u expect?
Tremendo video, buen mecanico, herramientas adecuadas, sinceramente felicito al mecanico.
Saludos desde Maracaibo Venezuela.

So what was the purpose of removing all the other stuff if you can get to it under the hood after removing the fan and fan shroud
Why not show how to tighten harmonic pulley bolt??
Awesome video very informative. Can you tell me want the book time is to do that job on a 2WD? I’m going to be doing mine. Again great video
Great video! Im currently doing this job right now. That crankshaft pulley bolt is giving me most trouble. How long did it take yall to take out this bolt?

ok so what I learned in this video is Im F-ed
Glad I live in the south and not dealing with all the rust

Where can I purchase? The rubber grommet the one he took off by transmission bolts.
My brain had a anxiety attack after the 30th screw you took out. Do u just put all the screws in a pile and know which one goes where when putting it back together..
wow ....a lot of detailed work involved ..so sure some shops charges more that some cars are worth lol
These videos are awesome man! Keep up the great work!
If you want to quadruple check your marks. 14 revolutions of the crank and all the timing marks should be lined up.
Wats the best way to remember how to put everything back together cuz that's a lot of components u took off???????
So what was the issue that caused all this to be replaced?
This would be a good Ad for Ford.
Excellent video thank you for sharing it. I did it on my car. Everything came out perfect except for the fact that my AC only blows out the defrost now I can’t get it to come out the vents for some reason and I haven’t touched anything on that. Any suggestions?
I’m using a junk yard head for my 4.2. It’s complete of a running engine does anyone know which valves should be open when installing on the engine?
So would any of you go through with purchasing one of these trail blazers if the power steering pump, transmission, & brakes were just done on a 2008 with 145 k miles selling for $800 & now the timing chain just went out.
I’ve looked at the parts and I’m certain that timing cover come off without removing the oil pan!
I can not get the passenger side transaxle out any ideas? Mine is not nearly as rusted as the one in the video.
Wrong video looking for the timings chain
Good job
Wow great video man
The only problem is the oil pick up is bolted to the timing cover and won’t come off!
La cantidad de mano de obra mas las herramientas y el elevador es dificil para alguien que empieze en la mecanica o quiera hacer reparacion por su cuenta como es mi caso vea que hay gran inversion en materiales
Awesone vid. But is bizarre you have to remove knuckles, axles, driveshaft, and steering rack in order to remove oil pan, so you can then remove oil pick up, so can then remove timing cover. Good grief.
Make sure you replace these cam bolts but I’m reusing these ones 😂 . That’s a no thanks I have the 4wheel drive Ima run it till it lets go

Id never buy a trailblazer now. What a shitty thing to put a technician through.
FFS 2 more bolts and you could replace the the piston rings
Good Stuff!!!
Lol rips it out* ....yeah, slides right out 😂
me gustaria saber porque no cambio los piñones de los arboles de levas
And he makes it look easy if you don't want to hate your life decisions dont do this job its a nightmare 😂
How did he do this job without cussing?
Utter embarrassment. Get better with Tahoe design, NOT! Ever wanted to drop the tranny pan and change filters, ya our genius GM engineers stuck the exhaust pipes on top of the pan so either cheat or literally take on 2-4 extra jobs. Embarrasse.
REMEMBER to always answer the, what's wrong with it?, it's a GM that's what's wrong with it. So embarrassed.
Oh my God .
maaaan!!!!
All that disassembly just for the timing chain???
I'd imagine it's a nightmare to change at home without that type of vehicle lift.
+Hyperspace Explorer Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I took all the bolts off the timing cover and it’s still not coming off. I have a 05 Chevy trailblazer

🤝🏻👍🏻💪🏻
so leave used trailblazer for junk yard
Once this is done will the P0016 be gone or will it still need to be relearned??
Is there a gasket kit for this also??
+@lionellavallee1919 Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Thank you very much for the information...👍 I did not know what I expected.😮😱🫣
When should you change the chain?
