    Let it ferment on the counter for a few days before putting in the fridge ! I would make this all the time but put it right in the fridge which was fine but I recently made a batch and forgot it on the counter and it really fermented and omg the flavor is out of this world ❤

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  5 років тому +4

      vegan Haitian ... you can also chop the Scotch bonnet into small pieces. To prevent your blender from smelling like epis or whatever your blending. Immediately after using it, rinse it out, then fill it up with detergent and water. Let it soak for an hour or so, then wash it out thoroughly. Do not put lid back on until its completely dry.

      Annette Dor amazing!! I will try it this week, the but instead I will cut up the peppers, like my coworker does it... I will also try it this way too, so I can have a variety. How long will they keep in a jar? My cowork does not know, because she said it goes fast in her house.

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  6 років тому +1

      lovelylady0200 ... yes, you can add bell peppers and red peppers. I like mine basics but delicious. It doesn’t last in my home either my kids puts it on everything, lol. It can last a long time because the vinegar preserves it. I leave mines out for a week to alloy it to ferment before refrigerate it.

    I'm not Haitian but here checking out different pikliz recipes and I must say this is a LOT of salt. You did mention the flavor of pikliz should come from the peppers (and to me the carrots) so that is why most recipes I've seen have a pinch of salt. You added Maggi ANNND salt. That is a day's worth of sodium. I'm sorry I am a nurse and just have to educate people about heart disease, hypertension. Thanks for the video, I know they take a lot of work ! Take care.

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  6 років тому +11

      Erick Anderson .... I disagree, the salt was balanced considering the amount of cabbage. The Maggie I used is not as salty as the cubes. I promise, I didn’t eat the whole jar, I did share. Traditionally we add just a tad bit on your food. I have a heart of a 16-year-old and no hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol etc(praise God)Thanks for commenting.
