How many devises can you have in your home before the speeds drop & what's the coverage like? I have Virgins 200mbps & have a very modern home with many devices, result slow speeds. Contacted Virgin last week about this, they recommended I remove some of my devices, how modern of Virgin. SO be aware if you're going to take out Virgin broadband. I still have a while before my current contract ends with Virgin. Therefore, if Virgin don't sort out this issue, I'll be moving to another provider.
Welcome to the FTTH club! I had to replace the ISP router with an Edgerouter 4 to get the best out of the gigabyte fibre. Now the 2Gb speed is available waiting on the Dream machine pro SE for the 2.5 Gb WAN port.
Congrats on the upgrade, fantastic speeds👍🏻 Does that Samknows speed test not work if your router doesn’t support it? We’ve got Sky super fast broadband, and I was trying to check the speed on that website on my iPhone, but it just searches for 30seconds or so then says “no router found”?
Hello tech giant, what was today's update for lg 8k tvs if you know what they are for me please I couldn't find them on lg website and I had called lg phone line they couldn't tell me on what there updates was can you help me out please
Yes, but if you have upgraded from their 500mbps it's a fault on the system that doesn't Sent the new 5.0 router, and you will be stuck with your old one unless paying a £40 one off charge
Really wish i could get virgin broadband but they refuse to as it would cost too much to bring the cable to the house. Maybe something i fund in years to come as a few grand and as speeds develop i don't want to be left behind. One time virgin agreed to but once they found out the cost (day before set up) they cancelled it all and almost lost phone number and had no broadband (they also paid out our contract at the time so that was aligned to end as we got connected). The prices virgin offer for full tv and broadband packages are very competitive. With preloading its made me needing these speeds less necessary and i can always download overnight. However with game streaming i would definitely need gigabit. Could test game streaming as a video as through gamepass you can actually stream games. We currently have around 65mbps bt broadband which for most stuff is just enough but that's about it.

And don’t even get me started on the customer service and tech support it’s terrible like the worst ever for me personally I would avoid them you don’t really need those kind off speeds for console gaming anyway. My advice if you can get BT full fibre 900mb in your area that’s probably your best option BT are pretty reliable, or sky broadband we have sky tv always friendly service I’m not sure what speed they offer in your area I left sky last year because I was only getting over 30mb
They are bringing out a new Hub 5 very soon,so hopefully that will be an improvement over the one I currently have, and will definitely be doing a dedicated video on that
The virgin media engineer who came out to see why my newly installed hub 4 (1gb download) was only getting under 500mb on wi fi. He explained that almost nobody will get 1gb until the hub 5 is fully distributed. He didn't recommend it though as there's loads of teething problems ie drop outs etc. So Virgin are knowingly rolling out contracts that they know they cannot meet terms on. Shoddy.
That’s not shoddy at all. Speeds aren’t guaranteed through WiFi. That would just be impractical to guarantee. They’re guaranteed through wired. If you’re getting black spots then if you ring up you can get up to 3 WIFI pods (WIFI intelligent link) included in your G1 package. I’m getting about 500mbps upstairs wireless (just installed a pod that’s improved signals greatly). But Ethernet connection gives me over 1000. The terms are minimum speeds are about 546mbps minimum download speed guaranteed to the property and if it drops below that 3 days in a row you’re eligible for auto comp….and can leave without penalty after 30 days if they can’t fix it.
@@Sevatarr The Gig1 minimum guaranteed speed is about 565mbps, if I remember right. So you’d be getting well over what you’d be guaranteed at a tiny bit under the gig. Mine is consistently around the 1140 mark. Virgin agents use SamKnows Realspeed to run line tests and speed tests to the property, too. So it’s worth us doing that too as we’ll then see our line activity too if something may not be right. Other than that it tests the line speed and the speed to your device simultaneously. To be honest though, Virgin aren’t really selling Gig1 at the moment or upgrading due to the huge shortages of Hub 4s.
@@TobyMoth-me Do you know if you are getting the Hub 4 or Hub 5? Also if you have any dead spots in your house, then be sure to contact Virgin as they should supply you WiFi pods that form a Mesh system, and those should be free on the Gig1 plan.

why didnt they put 2.5 gigabit ports, the wifi on the router is terrible, but the biggest things to take into account is the customer services from VM which is terrible, I have had the 1gig for over a year, yes it reliable, reasonably priced, but the router is not fit for purpose. I use the router in modem mode via nest wifi other wise I'm losing 30-40% of my speed, once virgin realise the hub 5 with 2.5 ports then it will be such a better propersition
Just found a good O2 sim deal on uswitch which was £8 a month for 20gb, unlimited text and calls for 12 month minimum contract. Called them to set up volt and already doubled the data to 40gb, just waiting for virgin upgrade now
I considered the Volt package as my contract with 3 was ending and I have a Virgin hub 4 for my broadband but 02 contracts are for three years and to renew my contract with 3 was for two yet the price for a new phone was very similar per month. That meant another £200 for the same new phone if I switched. A no brainer really. 350mbps as I have with Virgin is more than enough. You do get to the situation where your Internet speed is faster than the equipment you are using like my xbox 1x or my new phone. The problem that really needs sorting is WiFi. Not enough range or strength. It's still the weakest link in Internet usage.
I use a TP-Link Triband router instead of the supplied Virgin router, and it makes a MASSIVE difference. Speeds hold up better, and the range is much, much greater. You can get a triband router for around £200, and it will transform your wireless internet.
Iv'e been sent something very special to replace the Virgin router. Just waiting for builders to finish some work in our home and will be showing it on the channel.

Our hub 4 is just showing a solid red colour, don't understand why we can't get it working at all
The hub Ethernet ports only allow 1000mb connect via Wi-Fi and it should get closer to the 1gig mark the hub to the computer speed ( as long as you are getting good Wi-Fi signal to the computer)
How has the virgin broadband been after your first year? Any drawbacks?
How do you make the virgin hub 4 transformer work when it stops working after 12 hrs
I’ve just got gig1 with virgin and hub 4. Looking at getting a mesh system. Probably tp link x50 or 60. Would I need to put the hub 4 into modem mode or isn’t this necessary? If I do have to, would I connect all the mesh system up first and then put the hub 4 into modem mode last?

@Jo Bloggs 1 measly gig?
You do know that the Gig1 is the speed you get as in over 1000 Mbps ,and not the amount you can download per month.
so your code is valid just for new customers or existing customers ? Because i want to upgrade mine 350m package to 1gb package

Im on the same internet, downloading the same game wired and its showing highest of 50MB/s do i need to set something up differently?
If your only getting 60mb on the 1gb what can be the issue even when connected direct to hub via laptop, tried the restart etc...

Does that Samknows speed test not work if your router doesn’t support it? We’ve got Sky super fast broadband, and I was trying to check the speed on that website on my iPhone, but it just searches for 30seconds or so then says “no router found”?
Yes it is only supported routers it will work on.What those are i have not got a clue.
how are u getting samknows to work? all it says for me is your samknows device is offline

Really good video. Virgin are rolling out over here in NI shortly. Interested to know how the router performs with Wi-Fi too.
Shoddy.
What speeds are you getting when wired?
I'm on the hub 4 and getting 944mbps so pretty much a gbps I think that virgin engineer was covering his own back more than likely
Can I use BT for my landline and Virgin for my internet?
I don't see why not as they use separate cables.

Oh
I use a TP-Link Triband router instead of the supplied Virgin router, and it makes a MASSIVE difference. Speeds hold up better, and the range is much, much greater.
You can get a triband router for around £200, and it will transform your wireless internet.
