- The kids favorite part of swimming is of course jumping in the pool. I don't expect this pool to have a very long life so I built a simple deck that can be moved after it's inevitable demise. CANON BALL !

This is about the speed my wife thinks I should get all our projects done by.
😄 10x speed
😂 so true!!!
I know thats right 🤣
I hear ya, brother
Du hast so recht Bruder!!!
I bought the plan, and just to let y'all know, price for all materials at Home Depot came to: $465.82. Still in the $400 price range even with today's prices!!
Was just wondering about that lol, thanks
I just bought the plans and bought all material and it came to 560$, lowes prices.
@@SeanSR dang 100 bucks more in just a couple weeks lol
I’m in Tennessee and my total came to right around $400. I wonder if it depends on what state your in?
I just put most of the things in at lowes and came just under 400 😆 for the wood
$311.52 in June 2024
Nice, I was thinking it was cheaper now.
Started at 9am and just warpped up at 6:30 to include (1) trip to the Home Depot. I did buy the $4.00 set of plans (worked out great). Thanks so much from South Texas.
Awesome, it's a pretty easy project, but the cut list definitely makes it faster.
This looks great and a nice and easy project.

I really appreciate the no music. It really worked for me.
Thank you. I am always torn on weather people want music or not. I appreciate the input.
Man i gotta tell you I've been looking for simple deck videos all over youtube. Everyone else makes it seem so complicated but your no nonsense video style made it super easy to comprehend. Thanks a ton!
Thanks. I'm glad you found it useful.
This is exactly how I would have done it the chainsaw cracked me up it reminded me of Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold used the chainsaw on his staircase post "fixed the newel post" 😂 The kids were cute enjoying it and jumping in the water!
Thank you. Sometimes, the chainsaw is the only way to go.
Little man’s face at the end jumping in the pool made all the hard work worth it.
Totally
❤❤❤❤❤❤THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD YOU DO TO SHARE EVERY STEP OF MAKING POOL DECK FOR A SMALL POOL, THIS HAS VALUE IN MANY WAYS, ONLY IF YOU KNEW OF THE MANY WHO ARE THANKFUL, AND THE JOY YOU GAVE THEM, MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU, THE VIDEO IS 3 YEARS OLD BUT PEOPLE STILL SEE IT AND IS HELPING MANY, THANKS AGAIN AND BEFORE I FORGET, YOU HAVE AMAZING SKILLS TO DO IT BY YOURSELF; WOW!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much.
Gotta admit - I was wondering how you were going to do those stairs, and I loved the solution! Looks like the kids really enjoy the new deck! Great build.
Thank you
Where can I find your plan and directions? I’ve looked all over.
I found the plans and have purchased. Thanx a ton!!!
Ok, awesome. Good luck
Cannonball! I can't get enough of the fast speed editing and sounds throughout. All in a day's work. Very nice.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Finally. Been trying to find simple instructions to build a small deck like this for ages. Nice work.
Thank you. Pretty simple
I have been building this deck. So far so good. I have a question about the joists. The joists you have put on are 3" over hang on each side. My joists fit across 6' on the ends of the frame. Since there is no overhang on any of them, will this be okay to keep going or do I need to redo the joists so they have the over hang ???
As long as the joists are sitting on a support they should be good
Thanks dude... I way over complicated my idea ! This is perfect !
No problem
I don't know if you are interested or not but I just put some plans on Etsy.

My husband would be asking for the screws the planks, the drill, etc . I’m proud you did this alone 😅
Thank you. I like to projects like this when everyone is gone for the day so it can be a surprise when they get home.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo that’s awesome 👏
I like doing projects when nobody is home so I don’t get any surprises 😂
I could be building my life saving device on a time limit & my grown ass adult girls would be pulling me away for some goofy shit! lol
Great job!
I’m looking to see how those blocks are used! My grown niece & I want a little deck around our little pool! 😅
Loved the look of joy on the kids faces at the end. Great job on your deck build!
Thank you very much. The kids really enjoy be able to jump in.
You made this look so easy!!
It's not as hard as one might think. YOU CAN DO IT!
@@LastLeafStudioVideoDo you have any instructions on what you were doing in this video?
We have the same pool. Guess what my husband is doing next weekend 😂
It definitely makes it more fun to jump in. There are also plans available on easy if you need a little extra help.
Love your ideas here, especially the stairs! I'll be doing a deck for mine this Summer.
That's awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as my kids enjoy this one.
How have the post blocks head up ? I’m burping a deck basically the same but I’m getting a lot of mixed reviews with the post blocks so not sure now
If the deck is small and not attached to the house or anything, it should be fine. Mine held up just fine. We took the pool down and moved the deck to the back door for an entry deck. I set the posts in ground for that though.
Codes are strict in my county. Everything has to be notched, and anchored below the frost line. Approved anchor's, hangers, brackets. No more than a 4" gap on rails or steps. It all drives up the price and time. But if the entire neighborhood wants to party on your deck at the same time it wont fall. Lol
Yeah this is probably far from meeting any building codes but hey it's pretty simple to build.🤷🏻♂️
@@LastLeafStudioVideo a lot of places probably don't care. What you built would probably outlast and outperform the pool. I live in a college party town that had a 2nd story deck collapse several year's ago due to 30 or 40 people on a little rotten deck acceding it's capacity so they adopted the strictest codes within reason.
@@jamesrogers4674 ah yeah that makes sense then.
10:07 June 2023.... I'm a 63 yr old women and I'm going to try this.
Good luck! You can do it 💪
Or where can I get the plans or where can I purchase the plans. Can I get the plans from Home Depot I had double knee replacement last year so I need something easier to climb up I have a 9yr old autistic child he loves to swim with me but I need a gate for that deck that locks
мой вариант ua-cam.com/video/E0VL5-p2BPA/v-deo.html )
Very nice
That smile at the end of the video is why this is all worth it. Great quick build👍
Yeah what good is a pool if you can't jump in
Another question. What length screws did you use for the project not including the rails?
2 1/2 for framing 1 5/8 for attaching deck boards.
Thanks for the great video , followed it to build a deck for my pool and it came out great.
Awesome I'm glad it was helpful.
Wish u could come build mine!! (:
It's not too difficult. You CAN DO IT 💪
Did you use gravel under the 4x4 pavers? Curious about deck sinking from a good rain
No gravel. Where I live I could probably set the posts right on the ground and not worry. When you dig all you are doing is looking for the next rock.
Great job looks awesome new sub alert 🚨
Thanks for tuning in. Welcome aboard I hope I don't disappoint.
Just bought all the supplies at Lowe’s in Tennessee and it was right around $400 ☺️ Thank you for the plans also! They came in so helpful at Lowe’s. I’ll update after the build to let you know how it goes. ☺️
That's awesome. Good luck I'm sure it will turn out great.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo we finished and I uploaded a video of our build and a few mods we made. ☺️ I put a link to your video in mine to give you credit. Thank you so much! We love our deck ❤️
@@crochetwithheather awesome I will have to check it out.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo could you tell
Me what I need
To buy to do this please
Where did you get the plans from?
Built this deck with some small improvements over the weekend. Cost me $486 at home depot. Just added handrails to the stairs and around the pool ladder. Also added a gate to the stair to keep my dogs from getting in without me. They love swimming but I'm afraid they won't be able to get out.
Awesome. The improvements are definitely a good idea
hahaha, I love your humorous
nice work buddy!
Thank you sir.
Can you come to California to build mine ☺️😱
Sorry I don't like to travel that much.
The comedy in this video is on point 👌🏼
It's not supposed to be funny. It's a very serious instructional video.
Great job! ❤ 👏🏼👍🏼🤘🏼
Thank you.
Laughing At The Kids On Fast Motion
The kids are definitely the best part
I know this set up is mainly for kids but wonder how much weight it would hold? I’d like to build one for my family just a small one with this budget but there all 200lb and up.?Very nice deck
If you want it to be sturdier use 6, 4x4 posts instead of just 4 and maybe a 2x10 for your floor joists to sit on instead of a 2x6
Best part was the kids jumping in
They are the whole reason I built it
How Dad regains hero status!
Mission accomplished
Atta boy, came out beautiful!
Thank you
The slow-mo chainsaw cut near the end. LOL. Great project!
Thanks
Yep, I like it. Thought you were gonna lose me on the stairs by cutting the stringers. Thanks!
Yeah, stringers can be confusing. They are definitely better than the way I did it, but this is only a "temporary" structure.
How long did this take you in real time
I think about 6 hours but that included another trip to the hardware store.
Can you explain a little bit about how you made those stairs just right did you cut the bottom five and a half inches to make it level with the top of the deck cuz I'm terrible at stairs
There's a lot of math involved. I'm not sure if I'm the best person to explain it. I'm sure there's a good video on UA-cam somewhere. I'll take a look around and see if I can find one for you.
Thanks Man! Just purchased your supplies list/simple plan. Looking forward to making this accessible for my wife as she shattered her leg in six places a few years ago after a bad fall (not pool related) and even though she's made a full recovery, just doesn't feel stable on that flimsy aluminum ladder. Cheers dude! I'll send pics or shoot a video back to you when I'm done.
Awesome I hope it works out for you. Definitely way better than the rinky dink ladder
What was the material list for this project?
Very impressive 👏🏽!!!
Thank you very much
Are you for hire? Are those special concrete blocks ?Great job !
If you were local I'd be happy to help. Yes these are not just regular blocks but they are very common and you can find them just about anywhere they sell that kinda thing.
Roughly how long did this take you to build?
I think it was about 6 hours
I have an intex 16x32 and am trying to convince my husband to help me build a deck like this. I’m thinking 16x8? You made it look so easy. With no building knowledge how difficult would this be? Also, do you live in ga? Bc id totally hire you. Haha
It's easier than you might think. I realize my video isn't really an instructional video but there are plenty on UA-cam.
Even easier if you buy the precut stringers at Home depot.
I'll use a circular saw but don't trust myself with a chainsaw. Lol
That’s was great how fast you did that! Could I please get the material list also ...getting ready to put up a 12 round pool for grandkids and would like to copy your deck...in the car now ready to go to home expo. Thank you!
Are you still waiting at Home Expo?
Still waiting? The grandkids might be too big at this rate.
This video makes it seem so easy 😂 great job!
I might have a few years of experience with this kinda thing. 😁
cool idea but need to adjust that $400 price to todays Biden's America lumber pricing... that deck nowadays is at LEAST $6000 in todays market lol
Yeah I have been thinking about selling mine.
The POTUS has absolutely nothing to do with the price of lumber you dumb fuck
Awesome man!
Thank you
Hell yeah man. A good handy worker knows to use miscellaneous cups for tools and nails. I see that Folgers cup lol. I use a 2L soda bottle cut in half with bottom end for nails.
Yeah can you believe some people just throw them away!
Man of few words! Love it....best video on UA-cam
Thank you. Thank you very much
Did you just use decking screws for the temporary braces when you put the support posts in? Awesome videos. I bought the plans and can't wait to start!
Yup. Just regular ol deck screws 2 1/2 inches long
Nice
Thank you
I have never built anything before but very eager to try after watching your video. Please can you email me your measurements or list of supplies you used?
I've had a lot of people ask so I made plans. Link in the description I believe.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo thank you. I'll check out the link. What's the size of your deck?
@@kcnnubia I believe it's 6x8
I know there was no permit for this build, kinda dangerous for kids just sayin!
True dat
In my neck of the woods, so long as the deck is not bigger than 200 feet nor more than 30 inches above ground, no permit is needed. If it is above 30 inches, then permit and the dang pillars have to go 4 ft deep…
Loving how u used the pencil ✏ as a spacer for the floor....nice
Thanks man. Use what you got
I love chickens 💝
They are definitely a big help. 😄
Did you have to put an x-brace of 2x4's on any side of the build to stabilize it? Or was it too low to really require it? This is exactly what I was thinking of doing, but I'd love to position it so all the equipment is underneath, and maybe I can do a small rain-guard/ceiling underneath the floor boards to protect the equipment further. I guess UV will be my primary concern, so this would help greatly with that as well.
Mine was low enough. I didn't have any trouble with it wiggling. That's a good idea to put all your equipment underneath.
thank you!
What kind of lumber did you you use
Pressure treated pine. There are plans in the description
Thanks for the video ....and don't forget to pick up a chicken or two.....Check... Lumber, bricks screws and Chickens are on the list...lol
Yes, the chickens clear the area of bugs, which is essential.
Great job. I have to do the same.
Thank you. Unfortunately I think the price tag was pre Covid lumber prices
This was an awesome step by step video- Seeing your kids smiles as they jump from the deck was the best part though! 😉😁
Thank you. Jumping in is the best part of having a pool
How much (roughly) did you spend making this?
It was right around $400 but lumber prices are up quite a bit
Awesome! God bless!
Thank you
Not at today's prices sparky- lol
☹
I’d love to know exactly what to buy to build this. This is exactly what I’m wanting to build for our pool.
I have plans in the description that includes the material list.
Do you actually have a build video for this deck? Some commentary or instructions on how to actually put this together would be nice, especially for a novice like myself.
I'm sorry I do not. This is the best I can do.
So when setting the posts in the blocks you use braces. This keeps the posts plumb as u build the frame, right?
Yes, that's exactly right.
Where can I buy the plans ?
Should be a link in the description
Never seen anyone do stringers like that ever !
It's not the best way, and in some places, it's frowned upon, but my family is skinny, and we like to live on the edge.
Just built this was wondering if you had an issues with it shaking? Or moving slightly with everything on it
I added 45° braces. I guess I left that part out of the video.
Where do I get plans just what I am looking for
It's worth the safety and the smiles.👍🏾
Safety 3rd 😁
Loved deck… no safety gear, eyes, ear, or gloves. Saw you picking out sawdust from your eyes.😮
Yeah, maybe I should be a little more safety oriented.
I don’t see a height for this plan anywhere? How tall is it? Our pool is 42” deep.
Bottom right. You will want to make it about an inch taller than the outside of your pool.
Chickens are the worst helpers, especially when you're trying to dig. They swarm in to inspect every shovelful.
I would have to agree with you
Wow! Awesome. Can you to come my house around 5, looks like it would be done by supper(6) 😅
Oh yeah no problem, what's the address? 🤣
Not with lumber prices at a record high today
Your Child Swimming In The Pool
Very simple deck setup. I think I'll use this but I'll use the (2) long European pallets. Should work fine and I can just calculate the distance I need.
Thanks for watching. Good luck
Hey! So I’m following along but how did you figure out the angle of the stringer boards for the stairs. It looks like you just kind of “put them wherever and went with it”, did you just do it by looks or was there some sort of measurement to figure out the angle
I did the math off camera. I'm sure there's a video out there explaining how to figure out stairs way better than I ever could
Just wanted to watch the deck get built. To many damn chickens in the way.
I know, they are awfully nosey critters
Built the deck but it sways a bunch. Would recommend using leftover wood to add bracing to the posts.
Yeah the taller the deck is the more movement it will have. I think I also added some 45° braces.
I just bought the plans, how did you do the stairs
I would recommend buying precut stringers from one of the big box stores. It's hard to do plans for stairs for everyone because there is no telling how tall your pool is.
Exactly what I need right now.
Good I hope it works out for you.
Hello, I bought your cut list online. I have a question about the last line which includes 2x8x12 = 3 (did you use this for each of the steps and the step supports on the side?) Do you have an instruction sheet somewhere that I can use? Thanks
Yes the 2x8 are for stairs. You can find stair instructions online to find out how to lay out stairs for your specific. Height.
Sure it’s closer to $500-600 now with the cost of wood. 2x4 in ca is $8 now, so crazy
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it was even more. Lumber is crazy right now
$465.82 at home depot in Missouri
Dude I want to build a deck in 10 minutes.
Easy just do it at 10X speed like I did
Awesome - thank you!
You're very welcome!
Love this and it is what I need.after back surgery I really need this. Where can I get a material list? Thanks
I think there's a link in the description
Nice! Quick and easy. Will be using this video as my blueprint. But I won’t be doing it this fast 😂
Just need a healthy dose of caffeine. ☕️
Where did you find the brick you used?
My local hardware store carries them. I am pretty sure they should be at the big box stores too
I thought that I had to dig in the floor and put concrete, that's look easier and faster thank you
That would probably be a good idea if you want a permanent structure, but I figured I'd only have it for a few years. It's still there, though, and holding up nicely.
