This the best sounding effect I have ever personally used or heard being used by anyone else. Even without all the ridiculous Chase Bliss control mechanisms, the quality of the analog delay is simply outstanding. It's the only pedal that I just kind of chuckle when I turn it on because I can't get over how good it sounds. I've had my OG blue knob Tonal Recall for years now and am still not over the honeymoon. It's been a mainstay on my board the entire time I've owned it.
Super late to the party but a friend gifted me one (yes, I’m very grateful) Dip switches on top with a little compartment would’ve been cool. Kinda like a car hood! But yeah this pedal is great! 🖖
You can ramp between two specific knob positions with an expression control from something like the Reflex expression pedal or an ES-8! Super cool thing to do!
It's actually good for me that the pedal is so expensive. I usually can't be bothered with another delay but during the intro I was already hooked to its angelic sounds. Then you said how much it is and the record stopped immediately and I was released from its seductive grip. Amazing pedal, it even sounds good with lots of modulation (which makes most pedals sound unusable ^cough cough, Walrus ARP87, cough*^).
how bad is the increased noise Joel mentioned from blue knob to red knob?...really hoping its not too bad. I'd like the new improvements but without sacrificing low noise of the original
j cowe the standard Tonal Recall is super quiet for an analog delay. i guess there's some more noise when you turn tone and regen knob fully clockwise. but even then there's not as much noise like the purple spectre had. that's what i can tell from the demos
Henning. Wanted to ask. In your opinion, is this worth the extra £100 compared to the blue knob version? I'm in the market for a 'character' delay (horrible term, sorry), and I've pretty much got my heart set on the Tonal Recal but now this has come out. It's not about the extra delay time (I'm not sure that that is massively important to me), but there seems to be a lot of other benefits in terms of the clarity of the delay and length of time before the delay degrade that is interesting. So really just wanted to get you thoughts before I sell a kidney to make this happen. Thanks for the reviews. Always where I come to get a light take on gear-nerdery!
neuk01642 I'm not him, but if I may, it's much clearer. I'm normally a fan of tape and digital delays (specifically 2290's) and with this thing I can really get the clarity of those two with some of the nice warmth of analog delay. Hope that helps!
Cheers Cody. Good to know. From the videos I've seen that does appear to be the case. And it's definitely something that I've found difficult with other analog delays. I love the warmth and deterioration but I like it to happen later and this definitely seems to address that. And along with all the usual Chase Bliss madness... not sure I'll find a better solution.
between empress echo system and chase bliss tonal recall, which one to choose for my synth setup ? I really like 'ramp' feature, but the dual engine and ease of use of empress pedal make me think about it.
Hey Henning! Big UA-cam fan of yours!! Watch a new video almost every day (thank you for having so much content that I can do that) 😉 At my work I am a marketing specialist, but I haven't really ventured into video editing yet, but we are now going to be. All that to ask if you could tell me what program you use for your video editing, and where do you get your on screen animations, intros, call outs, etc. from (since I obviously love your video work)? Thanks so much in advance Henning! 😁👍
hey Albert, I use Final Cut on a Mac all the animations are from a great company called motionvfx.com Thanks for watching!!! I couldn't do it without you!
Don't know if it has already pointed out but actually the "polarity problem" of the expression pedal working the opposite as expected is due to the raise/fall switch that is defaulted at the "fall" position. This way it means that as you rise the expression pedal the chosen parameter falls from higher values to lower values while setting it to the "rise" position is the opposite so maybe way more predictable.
This pedal is pure awesomenessesseseses. Thx henning for letting me play this in bruchsal.
I love these videos so much. Your sense of humor is greatly appreciated man!
"Zero people NEED a delay pedal (...) You WANT this one because it makes you happy" - This guy gets it :)

Have you played with the old.memory man?
I like my Catalinbread Belle Epoch a lot.
You are my 'go-to' for a straight opinion. TX for doing these reviews!
Awesome delay and some great textures, I would have one in an instant! Great review and test as ever Henning!
Correction regarding the power draw, it needs 150ma. The instruction states that the pedal will not function with only 100ma.
Super late to the party but a friend gifted me one (yes, I’m very grateful) Dip switches on top with a little compartment would’ve been cool. Kinda like a car hood! But yeah this pedal is great! 🖖
But will it blend?

39:21 well shit, that's just all kinds of awesome. you're right, i don't NEED this. i WANT it because it makes me happy.
MN3005 Salt and Vinegar crisps are awesome. The flavor keeps coming back, just a bit crunchier every time.
Great video! I’d call it a demo, but it seems more than that. I learned, I listened and enjoyed. Now I am Subscribing! Thank you
Love it! Next on my list now after my Brothers!

Such a beautiful intro dude

I don't know the original, but I didn't notice any noise worth mentioning!
EytschPi42 great news! getting through the extensive video...thanks for uploading.

Yeh I'll try and get my hands on a red knob to test and see if backing off the tone a bit reduces any high freq noise.

Or do what i do is just stack whatever into avalanche run

What Overdrive/Distortion pedal are you using in this video?
wow close call for leslie at 53:25 ...that could have gone into the eye.
How many videos do you record in a day??!!!! Wow
This channel is his day job...
Gettin it. Sounds so good.

.."I can say Strat," you looked happier than you would have in the past, good job mending fences.

14:40 - 15:44 sold me :D If I had the bucks of course :D
i mean its cool....but a carbon copy type thing is more than enough for what i do with delay.
Henning I would disagree with you on one thing... For my style of music i need my delays...
Dip Switch Mouse Piano.
Funny AF
Nice to know you monitor comments on a 2017 video, HP. Me impressed.
This video shows why some stereotypes are accurate. Very informative but slightly aggressive and demonstrative.
that pedal is for people that just want to tinker around
Tycho uses it.
This pedal was my biggest regret. Not worth the excessively high price tag. $590 + $40 for a power supply + $110 for the extra presets = $740
radialdrift with that money you could buy a real tape echo...
I HATE DIRTY REPEATS THAT SOUND NOTHING LIKE YOUR ORIGINAL SIGNAL, ITS BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN FADE AWAY
vegan x hi vegan x, it's good to have you back on a chase bliss youtube comment.
THERE IS NO WAY CHASE BLISS WOULD BE ON MY OR DAVID GILMOURS PEDALBOARD
vegan x haha. lols. you made my day.
this guy is the worst. he literally makes me want to be put in a wood chipper
well thanks for taking the time to insult me!
@@EytschPi42 anything for you!
