Do you prefer quality over quantity when building habits? What habits are you currently prioritizing?

Quality is a great word to ponder. Quality time, relationships, spiritual awareness, self care, serving others… we have a limited amount of time. Once time is gone it can’t be retrieved. Quality…
Quantity will never define me, but is a look at what I produce .
My biggest change over the last 5 years was defining who I am not what I do first. Giving myself permission to slow down… giving myself permission to break up a task into bite size tasks. Not ALL gardening, laundry, etc must be done in a day but rather in bites. I get to do more of what I enjoy, I get to be me not an expectation for the day, less frustration… more joy.
As well as bites I accept flexibility easier… have less disappointments… more contentment.
A book, music, prayer, meditation, companionship has become far more important then doing tasks with an all or nothing attitude. I can stop and watch the sunrise, drop everything to sing along with a song on the radio, without condoning myself but rather rejoicing in who I am. Yes quality and core values are very important. Being kind to myself is a must. Celebrating the minutes I’ve been given. No longer regretting what I didn’t take time for.
Thanks for your recommendations, sharing your knowledge and experiences.

I'm going to add #6, which is saying 'no' so you don't get drawn into anything that you don't want to do if it isn't something that you want in your life. I had a hard time saying no until I felt that I was stretched so thin that I wasn't doing justice for what I signed up for. The first time I said no I felt a bit of guilt, but that quickly subsided once I felt that big sigh of silent relief. Give yourself permission to say no so you can keep your life manageable with less stress. Love your thought process!

Yes this is essential as well! I should have mentioned this when I talked about prioritizing my values but I’m glad you added this to the conversation. Saying no more often should be an everyday practice as well. Keep growing on your journey my friend.

*#1 Reframing negative self-talk makes such a difference!* 🤩 CBT (or DBT) techniques for doing this have been so helpful to me. Like any habit, creating external cues to remember to do it helps (literal alarm on phone &/or pre-determined prompts like eating a meal, putting on seatbelt, brushing teeth... ; - ). Similar to how a gratitude journal works by training the brain to look for the good even when not writing in the journal, *practicing noticing what I'm doing RIGHT has been game changing.*

I’ve learned that I can’t always be in control of everything. I was trying to breakaway from my home state, and found myself back on the road to success. I am living more intentionally and working on my goals. I am much happier.

I just love your videos SO MUCH! I know I've mentioned something along these lines but it's worth repeating. You are a real artist with words and content. Listening to you speak is so soothing and cuts right to my heart. Your cadence, diction, is so on point. I'd love to hear you speak in person at some point. Also, your content is super informative and helpful.
Keep up the amazing work; your content just keeps getting better and better. Be well!

Slowing down must be what God is teaching me, since I'm hearing it very frequently. I just need to be able to get my essentials done, get enough rest, but still put God FIRST!

I’m trying to get back into fitness. It’s been a month now and progress is slow, but there’s still progress. I’ve found that it’s better to increment at a realistic pace rather than pushing and not making it through a workout. I had to admit that at 64 I’m not in the same shape as 24 and to be kind to myself.

Quality over quantity any day. Less creates a more enriched life. I do appreciate emphasis on values. Identifying, focusing and prioritizing on our personal values and goals makes “outside noise” less distracting.
