I remember my mother buying steam pork rolls in the Asian store, now that I am grown I cant find any Asian store around where I live. Now I have a great chance on making it for me and the kids to enjoy as I when I was little boy. Great video and instruction on how to make it.
Tasty, balanced recipe and easy-to-follow format. Your instructions regarding the freezing and pulsing method was spot-on which resulted in the intended springy texture. My children savored my first batch stated “Thank you mommy. It tastes just like the ones we ate in California.” Tusind Tak from Denmark.
Hi Trang. I've been using some of your recipes. As a Vietnamese gal, I really love them! Your recipes are authentic. I appreciate how you have organized your methods & made it easy for us to follow. I have even used your sponge cake & Japanese cotton cake recipes. Thank you for converting the European measurements to the American metrics. I know it is hard to get it exactly, but since I do not have a scale, it works well for me. I love your website name & your voice is perfect & angelic too. Your husband & children are very lucky to have you for a wife & mom! Please keep on showing us how to cook better! Thu2

Hi, Thanks for posting. I have a meat grinder so I can grind my own Pork Shoulder. I'm wondering if I ran my meat through the grinder a second time with a smaller die before I mixed it, could I skip the multiple Food Processor steps?
Perfect time to try this recipe since we are having a natural freezer at the moment, it's -10 degrees C here. I will give it a try and if it turns out well, which I am sure it will, I will make bánh dầy too. :)
OMG this is such a coincidence, the other day, I was just looking for this recipe, but was checking your channel first to see if you have one, now it's like a wish come true. Hee hee :) Love your videos and tips!
Hi Chi, a while ago I asked you about where I could buy a cutting board that you were using in one of your videos. You gave me the information, and I ordered the cutting board. I however forgot to thank you for the information, and now I cannot remember which video it was that I commented on. :-D So I just wanted to stop by to thank you for the information. I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year! :-)
+Sonia Dinh Hi Sonia! I am glad you got the cutting board. I am always happy to share what I use in my kitchen. Wish you and your family a Happy Lunar New Year too!
Ben em phan nhieu supermarket or butcher khong ban ground pork. I can only get ground pork at 1 supermarket but they have only like 4 packages of 300 gr. I need to always call them to set aside if I'm gonna make cha lua 😄😄. But chi Trang can I maybe use mixed ground pork/ beef for the cha lua. Mixed groud pork/beef is easier to buy
i have jist start to follow your recepies. and I would say that I enjoyed it very much. The latest that I have seen is your recepi for mooncake. They are easy to follow. But my problem is where to get the molds? Anyway, just go on with some more recepies. Really love them. Thanks.
Hi! Thanks for joining my channel. For the mooncake molds, I provide links in the Description box of the video. I purchased them from eBay and Amazon. :)
yum! I love eating cha lua with pickled carrots and daikon dipped in nuoc tuong va ot ^.^ But do I have to use banana leaf? It is hard to find it in my town.
Hi Thanh, the brown color may be a result of the meat combining with the air. Did you buy the meat and use it right away or store it in the refrigerator for a day or two? A slightly brown color does not affect the taste em. Great job!
@@RunAwayRice em buy and use it right away chi. It doesn't affect the taste at all, my family really enjoyed it. I want to make it for my friend, that's why I asked about the difference in color 😊😊 chu nha em an mau gi cung duoc ngon la an het 😅
Thank you so much for detail video instructions. I just made it and after cutting it in half I noticed my steam pork roll isn't as white. Mine has more of typical ham color look. Did I undercook it? Steamed it for 40minutes

Thank you very much for sharing . I did it before but I don’t understand why is it so important to keep it cold in the freezer. If I bypass the freezing part, what will happen?
@@RunAwayRice I see. Before, I guessed the reason maybe to avoid overheating during machine grinding time, which might cause meat overcooked and damage the blade.

Thank you so much for this recipe, looking for something that is free from wheat flour.. For the savory rolled cake can i use glutinous rice flour?
Thank you very much for sharing . I did it before but I don’t understand why is it so important to keep it cold in the freezer. If I bypass the freezing part, what will happen?
Keeping the meat cold is what yields the slightly crunchy texture. If you skip this, you may get a pork roll with a very soft, somewhat mushy texture.
@@RunAwayRice I see. Before, I guessed the reason maybe to avoid overheating during machine grinding time, which might cause meat overcooked and damage the blade.
