My grandpa has a Abu Garcia 6500c. That thing is 20 years old and it STILL works. Best reels in my opinion
I loved every ambassadeur reel I've ever owned. I've abused one or two of them intentionally (shameful but I gained confidence and respect) and by freak accident (severe and repeatedly). Both of these reels have outlived every pole they ever mounted except for one, (still mounted 20yrs). I consider them invincible but about once every 5, 6 years I turn up the clicker volume :) and put the original grease where it belongs under the right side cover.
I have a 5600 c4 that I’ve had for almost 20 years now. It’s still in amazing condition. The only thing mine doesn’t have is the line out alarm.
Does this reel have a break system and if it does how do i access it
@@logansalamone8136 it’s has a carbon drag system you have to take it apart on the reel side. There are videos on here if you type in (abu Garcia 5600 c4 maintenance) you’ll see it when you take it apart little carbon discs you can take them out wipe them down and lightly lightly oil them.
Abu Garcia reels are my favorite reels to use no matter what kind of fishing I do. I have never been let down by one of these reels, and they are superior and superbly made. Keep up the good work I'll keep buying them!
You are right but it's getting harder to find one made in Sweden have 13 reel from 5500c3 to 7000 c3 all with 25lbs
@@anthonyseymore1217 Yeah I wrote this long ago (8 yrs) and back then it was alot easier. That shit they build in China now is straight garbage and I will not buy one. I only buy Sweden made reels when I can find them but I've also started using other products also. Got a few reels the last few years I'm very happy with that are on par with Abu Garcia, I do a lot of catfishing so they get a fair amount of beating and fair quite well. If you don't just use Abu or are interested in other products look around out there and you will be suprised by the newer reels out there.
I do alot of saltwater fishing between Galveston to Freeport for reds and black drum gaptop they hold up paired up with h2o fishing rod from academy
Great question. The C3s and C4s will work great for muskie fishing and are quite popular in many muskie fishing circles. These models are true "work horse" reels and offer greater line capacity than the SX and the S. The C3's & C4's are also affordable. Braid is good choice for this species and pairs nicely with these reels. Just be sure to back the spool with approximately 15-20 yards of monofilament before spooling with braid to avoid line slippage.
The new C4's have just arrived this month! They should be at all of the major retailers now. The C4-5600 size is perfect for what you're doing. As far as the rod, you'd want about a 7' M Veritas.VERC70-5, Medium action.
Awesome - glad this fixed your issue.
The 4600 sizes is great for largemouth bass. The 6.3:1 gear ratio in combination with the spool size is plenty fast as is delivers 30" per turn of the handle. For reference, a similar gear ratio of 6.4:1 for a low profile reel such as the popular Revo SX, delivers 26" per turn so you will be in good shape.
Thanks for your kind words. We strive hard to manufacture high-quality products at affordable price points for our consumers. Its customers like yourself that make us realize why we are in the business in the first place. We appreciate your support.
Ripped one of these 6600C4's cheap from Ebay recently and added a ported gold power handle from a 6500LC. Good looks, good feel...it should be fun! I was shopping for an old BPS Royal Express III but this one is prettier and clearly low-mileage. Looking forward to Spring 2022!
Thanks for your note. The C4 series round reels are extremely durable and built to last. There aren't any plastic componets in high stress areas. It has the Dura-Gear, a solid brass gear which dramatically extends the life of the gear. We appreciate your support.
Used the products over fifty years
Cant get better
The C4 is a great choice for specs. We offer a handful of different sizes so you should be able to match one to your specific needs.
Hi. Thanks for the question. We perpetually make improvements to every product each year. We do not have any plans for new round reel launches at the moment. We appreciate your support.
Hi. Thanks for your note. There is a bit of a learning curve with baitcasting reels. It takes some practice to master casting accurately. But, adjust the spool tension knob (located next to the reel handle) until you eliminate backlashes. Then, loosen it to increase your distance until you have a nice balance between control and casting distance. We appreciate your support.
Yes, log on to the Abu Garcia website and click the support tab then scroll down to the parts section. You can fill out the order request form and have a replacement part sent to you directly. Thanks for your question and support.
In the round reels, check out the C3 6500 for big catfish, carp and pike. You may also want to look at the Max series of low profile reels as they have the same 15lbs of drag pressure as the C3s but work also work well for bass. If you don't need 200+yds of line capacity, the Max series of low profiles offer a lighter and more ergonomic feel that makes casting all day for bass a breeze.
It's what i use for 50 + blues and flats also good for the smaller channels. its a great reel
Im still using my c4 in 2021.. Very strong...
yes i am using braid and you just solved my problem thanks a lot
Hey Jackson. the C4 series is a great choice. You may also want to check out the Record as well.
Easy to use for any rod type it's great.
@anontiojauregui That means that the reel holds 245yds of 14lb monofilament line. The braid capacities on the spec chart are what the reel holds with braided line. The reel works well in saltwater for those species excluding very large halibut but for shallow water halibut it would be fine.
Hello - what species do you plan on targeting and where? Any additional information will better help us make a recommendation.
The C4 is built like a tank and is a top choice for anglers that target hard pulling fish (catfish, stripers, redfish, etc.) For large catfish, you may want to check out the 5600 or 6600 sizes. For bass fishing, you could use the 5600 size, but we also offer a 4600 size that is more compact and better suited for this species.
Hey fernalDAOx, we recomend that you turn off the line out alarm during the retrieve.
Absolutely.
Love the round reel look but are you going to make more round reels or upgrade the currant ones?
Hello Michael, your 5000 size does not have a line out alarm - the 6000 sizes (C3, C4) have this feature.
In the C4 family, the 6600 model sizes have the line out alarm In the C3 family, the 6500 model sizes are equipped with the line out alarm.
@startinglineupfishin What species are you planning on targeting, in what location and also if you plan on using any specific technique? We should be able to point you in the right direction for the proper set up.
Would this reel work for halibut, bonito and sting rays?
Check out the Volatile series of rods that are specifically designed for saltwater fishing. You can pair that rod series up with a 5600 size C4 for inshore fishing or check out the Revo Inshore low profile reel or the Revo Toro NaCl offerings if you prefer the low profile style of reels. These are all engineered for saltwater use. For more details, check out the product pages on our website.
@beameron We are looking into doing video for International products like the 5601 C JB? Thanks for the feedback
yes
@MrRedskins0021 It depends on what species you are targeting. Any technique and location info would be helpful as well to provide a recommendation.
Over the last year, I've been getting back into fishing and I've got a Revo Sx and a Revo S I mainly just use them for bass but recently I found out that in the New River (Virginia) Muskie is pretty abundant and I've never fished for Muskie before so I was wondering if I should step up to a full size Baitcaster like the C4 and if so what would be the best line to use Monofilament, Flourocarbon or Braid
Both the C3 and C4 will work well for reds and speckled trout...take a look at the 6600 in the C4 or the popular 6500 in the C3
Hello - if you have the cast control knob tightened all the way down, the spool should hardly move even when casting. Did you back the spool with monofilament or just tie the braid directly to the C4's spool? If not, remove the braid and spool the reel with approximately 15 yards of monofilament. Use a uni-to-uni knot to attach the braid to the monofilament and continue to fill the reel with braid. Don't overfill the reel - leave approximately 1/8" gap below the beveled edge of the spool.
It's a great reel. I have one myself.
I wonder if you are able to use spinning baits for this reel, or if it is a multireel etc :)
@fatllama100 Hi, thanks for the question. What fish species are you targeting? Any location or technique information would be helpful as well. There are literally hundreds of applications we could recommend for you but we might point you in the wrong direction without that info.
Just ordered the 6600 model as my first baitcaster as I have heard nothing but positive things about Abu Garcia I am looking very forward to fish Lake St.Clair Musky with confidence!
When will the abu garcia c4 4600 2014,,left handed retrieve will be out?.tq
i have a problem with the drag system on this reel, when i tighten the drag it gets harder to retrieve my bait in how can u fix this?
What would u recommend for inshore fishing with a round baitcaster? And reel because I want to cast far
Yes, 6600 C4 would be perfect for muskie and pike. You could also use a Record or C3.
hi i have this real and i jus have a qustion when i have the drag fully tight i can still pull it with a little bit of force is this how they are designed or is there a problem
Hey I was wondering if you can tell me what an abu garcia ambassador 4600 c5 reel would be good for
I am unsure what you are referring to. The C4 is a baitcasting reel not a spinning reel. If you have any other questions please reach out to us so we can clear up any issues.
just bought this reel.....targeting big pike....what kind of line and test would you recomment??
With this reel matched With the right rod Can you cast up to 150' to 200 plus feet with 1oz to 1 1/2 oz with
40lb Braid or 20lb Mono Thank you
I just bought the 5600 abu garcia. What kind of rod will go good with this reel? Also, should I use a mono or braided line?

would this reel work for bass and be able to hold up to large catfish?
what's a good rod for this reel??
many thanks
are u able to spin with this reel ?
@dwai94 As with most reels at this pricepoint there are a few parts made from that material. The C4 has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on Abu Garcia dot com with 55 reviews in the event you would like to hear about other consumers' experiences with the reel.
I bought the 6600C4 (and the 6600HC Record) specifically for the convenience of the thumb bar spool release. I have a few older 6500 Abu's with the push button release and they have all been ok with long term doting care. Problem: Pushing down on the the thumb bar - of either new reel - won't release the spool if there is any (even slight) tension on the line. Even a six ounce lure or sinker will prevent a release just before an attempted drop or cast. I can, when I remember to do it, give the spool a forward nudge with my thumb as I push down on the bar, but that makes using the thumb bar a two step process. Ugh! Also, when a fish goes under the boat and I suddenly need to let out line, I am forced to change my grip...the thumb bar needs a really hard and 'fiddly' thumb push...not the right time to be fiddling around. Returning from free spool to crank control to take in line is flawless, with a very quick response to a flick of the handle. No problem there, and otherwise all else is wonderful. The thumb bar hesitation is a spoiler. When the reel was about two weeks old, I sent it (the Record) back to Abu for a look-see; they promptly exchanged it for another reel with no explanation and no improvement. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Hi, Ronald. Thank you for alerting us! Please call (800) 228-4272 to speak to a technician.
I want it!!!!

Can this reel match the ambassadeur record's strength?
do you sale the level wind bearing for the 5600 c4 reels
for serious pike fishing, would you either recommend the abu ambassador c3 or c4 ? i am in between the two reels. I will mainly be throwing baits that weigh from 60 grams to 120 grams max. thanks in advance !
Hey, Christian. The C3 will work great!

Does both 5500 and 6500 have line out alarms?
im malaysian .. is there any service centre that i could refer to.... how about the spare part of the old series...
I love this reel it is the best! I do have one question though, do you have to turn of the line alert system when reeling (also once a fish bites) in or can you just leave it on the whole time?
Thanks
Turn it off

Hello, one of our trusted vendors Tackle Warehouse ships internationally and carries a wide variety of Abu Garcia products.
The C4, C3 and Record reels are all very strong and durable reels so you really can't go wrong with any of them.
@@levmukoseyev3923 Hi Lev,
Some of our C3's and the C4 are made in Sweden. You can find all the details of these reel series, on our website here:
www.abugarcia.com/abugarcia-reels-baitcast-reels-round/ambassadeur-c4-round-reel/1315358.html#q=c4&start=1
Hello - while we don't have a 4601 in the C4, we do offer a 4601 C3.
@thefuckingman4567 The Revo is our top of the line low profile baitcast reel. The C4 is a round baitcast style.
Man it's a sexy looking reel
why there is no c4 4601 left hand??
Hi, I've just bought a 5601 it seems great, but how does the bait clicker work? I'm not sure that the reel has one!?
Team eVol only the 6600 has the line out alarm
And the original 5600 c4's
They sure are.
@nitrotankls1 Hi sorry we just notice we missed this comment. Try 30-50lb braided line like SpiderWire Stealth or SpiderWire Ultracast Ultimate Braid. You might want a steel leader as well.
what is the different between ambassadeur® C4 Series and abu garcia revo??
does my 5601 C4 have a bait alarm? If it does I am clueless on how to activate it. I normally fish spinning reels.
The 5500 series usually does not have a bait clicker . If it did it would be located on the side opposite the crank on top of the frame . You would not be able to miss it if it had one .
Is it good for catfish?
It is an excellent choice for catfish
Is there a difference between the Ambassadeur C4 Series and the Ambassadeur Classic C4 Series?
Hey, there. It's the same series.
i've got a C4 5601, i spooled it to the max (full spool), with 20lbs braid, problem is that every cast it comes with backlash even though i've screw down on cast control knob (full screw) switched on all 6 centrifugal brakes, i'm not sure the problem is with me or is it with the reel, please advise
Its probably the fact that the spool is fully filled
where is the demostration?
i got one for my bday an i still dont know how to casta it:-(
Funny how they still have the weak point. We're the anti reverse is crimped to the side frame.the only weak point in the reel. I've had a few loosen up and pop out near star drag and lock up.
What model is this in this video? Got left handle?
This is the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4 Series, which is available in left hand retrieve options.
May I know where I can buy this Ambassadeur 6601C4, left hand?
Head to our website and on each specific product page, click the "Find it Locally" link to locate a retailer near you.
I have one great reels for big red fish on the gulf coast
Yes you can. The only Abu reels we would not recommend using in saltwater would be the ones with magnesium frames so the MGX and MGXtreme.
Would this make for a good muskie reel
I use low profiles for musky
it's a perfect muskie reel
Any option for left hand?
Yes, this reel is available in a left-hand retrieve: bit.ly/2BqIeie
Is it good for jigging?
To bad I cant find a 6601 to buy...
You sure can.
