The Blue Birds of Happiness are/were made in Durham, AR. Rita and Leo Ward were personal friends of my family. My mother, who was a porcelain artist, my aunt who made clay sculptures, and myself all made and sold artwork through their studio.. Leo died several years ago and sadly, Rita passed on Mother's Day of this year. Their children now own and run Terra Studios which is a local tourist/artists attraction.

Ha! I was at a savers today and there was a mom with a kid that was screaming his lungs out and running around the store throwing stuff on the floor and refusing to listen to her ! I really wanted to tell her to just pick up the kid and leave! Then the store intercom came on with a message to keep your kids in the cart , seated....
A few minutes later they were gone.

If I need to get my shopping done I'm not going to let my screaming child win by taking them out of the shop!!! Their bad behaviour isn't going to stop me getting what I need and what I need to get done. I'm the adult and they won't dictate how my day goes. I give parents the look of support when I see their children crying as we have all been there rather than judging their parenting!

I have a Bluebirds of Happiness figurine. I just have one little guy though. The librarian at my middle school gave it to me as a goodbye gift on the last week of middle school when I was in the 8th grade. He said he just wanted to give me this little Bluebird of Happiness as present because I was always a happy person with a smile on my face every time he saw me and he wanted to wish me good luck with high school the following school year. That was back in 1997.

I always flip tru the wallart because I sell a lot of it. Sometimes good stuff is hiding behind bigger pieces and I caught myself not looking up high enough so when I did I noticed I missed things the first time around. So like you, I take a second round in the shop and am amazed what I sometimes find on that second round.
(That had to have been there one the first try) Your eyes are drawn to one thing and you miss another. I notice that also when you go towards something. I look at one thing and you pick up someting else. 😹 Goes to show that a second round sometimes pays up. 👍

You passed by pink depression glass (!!!) and the "butter pats" are Asian mustard/soy sauce dipping dishes I have a huge collection of the Chinese "Rose" pattern vase that you bought. They lost a lot of value as table ware since the lead on them was found to be toxic if hot food was served on them. They are kept mostly for decorations now but the values have plummeted. My sister actually had the "Rose" pattern and I had the "Royal Family" which is similar with a rose but with a gold crest on top of the design on each piece. Found your channel interesting and wonder if you have a theme for the items you buy. I guess you pick random items rather than say, all vintage or all glassware. Nice. Thanks for voicing over. If you submerge items with tape on them for about 30 mins the tape comes right off , no damage .

Love the voice overs. I never realised the background noises stressed me out until you started doing the voice overs.

Thank you for the voiceover! I don’t mind screaming children. No matter what people say in the comments, we’ve all had a child that loses it in a shop! I wish UK had large thrift stores!

Charlotte - Agreed! Or we’ve been one😉! Mainly I wonder why people allow their children to run wild in stores or restaurants, not teaching them manners. Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️

Me too UK thrift shops are tiny by comparison.

Lynsey Beaton - Yes they’re the size of our little local charity run thrift stores (lived in the U.K., visit as often as possible). The chains like Goodwill & Salvation Army took over ginormous spaces they size of supermarkets. Sadly they started out with good, inexpensive prices which drove out nearly all the little charity shops. Once the competition was gone prices soared, at least here in NY. I’m happy that some new little ones are popping up with reasonable prices; I can’t afford the chains anymore. They don’t even do ½ off colour tags anymore so are filled with overpriced junk (dirty, ripped Forever 21 for $20, nope didn’t cost that new!) 😡. J. XXX 😘🧡😻😻
