Hi ! I am doing my first large canvas and i don't have a lot of work space. I was sitting here trying to figure out the best way to start ,and how i was ever gonna accomplish this, when i came across your video. I realize it is a few years old, but it has helped me out tremendously! I am now more then ever ready to tackle this. Thank you !
Hi Christopher, thank u sooo much for the washcloth trick..the Simplist thing and it's a game changer for me. Ur vids just popped up on my feed and I must watch more.
You are sooo welcome. I hope they are still relevant. It’s an old video and I haven’t seen it since I did it and I might have changed how I did things. I think it might be time for an update lol
I've just started doing this fantastic craft and finding it very relaxing and absorbing. What I do is section a small amount of the picture with an outline of drills and work just that section which would take about an hour then leave it and give myself a break. I repeat this process as many times as I feel I want to work on the picture that day but no more than four hours
Welcome to the craft. I hope you love it as much as I do! That’s a great idea too. Anything that’s comfortable and works for you, do it! And yes taking breaks is very important! 🥰🥰
Thanks for the tips! I bought my first diamond painting from diamondpaintinghouse with 20% discount and I needed some tips on trying diamond painting for the first time.
I am pretty new to diamond art painting , but all that you said makes perfect sense to me. I am just almost finishing my first big kit, but I was lucky in that it was TALL but not too wide. I managed to do fine by starting at the top (upside down) and getting to the halfway point. Then turning it right side up again and doing the bottom half. Worked out pretty well. But my NEXT one, that I will start in about a week, is both tall AND wide. So far this is the plan. I do have a large space to work on it. On the dining room table. It should take up most of the table. with room for the drills. I am thinking atm the the easiest way is to work exactly as before, But Ill just move back and forth between the two chairs next to each other to work on either the left hand side or the right hand side. If that makes sense. LOL
Hey, Christopher! I realize this is an older video, but I am literally sitting here waiting for my very 1st large diamond painting, as well as my 1st square, which is out for delivery. I needed these tips sooo bad! Gosh! Thank you so much! I, too, am a right to left painter, but I'm really wanting to do it from left to right with this painting and you really confirmed that. Thank you! ❤😊
Very welcome. I haven’t seen this video since I did it allll that way back when… so I have no idea if it’s still relevant or good advice. I should update it 😂 I used to do it right to left. Now I’m a strict left to right and I turn the canvas and all that stuff 🥰
@christopherkolasa 😂 I actually tried it left to right for a few days and then I couldn't help myself. I just had to go back to right to left lol Things might have been different, but I'm trying to do a gargantuan sized painting on a teeny tiny work area. When I get paid in 2 weeks I'm ordering a large computer desk with wheels that I can pull over my lap in my recliner, as I am disabled. Then the whole painting will fit. And yes, your advice is VERY much still relevant. Thanks again! You're awesome! 🥰👍
Another recommendation for sectioning off your painting is using Parchment paper (NOT wax paper). I cut it into whatever size squares I want to use for each section.
Yes. I do have parchment sheets. I kinda like seeing the rest it when I’m drilling my area! But I think next time I may leave half the plastic clear on and do 5he other in parchment! Hmmm something to think about. Thanks !
@@christopherkolasa Another thing I like about using the parchment paper is when I am done with a section it is like uncovering a mystery and if you want to mix it up you can block off squares with the parchment paper and number them and do it as an advent type calendar.
well, I can tell you it will be gorgeous IMO, based on the fact I finished the other similar large Christmas one from dac and it was stunning. I haven’t started this one tho, it’s in my pile of dp to be done lol 🤗
Really helpful suggestions Chris. I'm just about to work on a large canvas 'Grandios Greece' so I will give the release papers a try and keep a section of canvas rolled and clipped. The light pad tip was so helpful! 🤗 Have a great weekend 💎💎💎
Great tips thanks Chris the only thing I do different since I'm using a drafting table is roll the sides with pool noodles. One on the done side diamond side out undone in. I also flip mine and since I'm lefty I start most times on the right side
Great video thank you for the tips! Especially the one with the edges of the light pad will safe me many hand cramps. I just ordered a custom 80 x 120 of 'death of sappho' by Miguel Carbonell Selva in honor of pride month so I will definitely try out your method of tackling such a huge project. :)
Thank you so much!! I know that this will help more people than just me. Now feel ready to tackle these huge canvases... I just need to go get some harbor freight containers lol Again thanks!! 💜💜
Welcome! Anytime! Yes the harbor freights are fantastic. I have 3 but should have got a few more lol. You’ll do fine, a couple days in it will be old hat!
The ones I haven’t done I have them rolled up. I used to keep them flat on a table. A lot keep them in boxes they came in if they did. The finished ones I have hanging our they are now on the flat table on top of each other 🥰
I haven’t framed it actually. I just pin it up. But you can find larger frames or you may have to crop the pic if it’s bigger than a frame you can find in a store..or have it done costum but that’s a lot of money 🥰
I want that same DP so bad & looked DAC for it & I couldn't find it. I'm new to this somewhat, was this one discontinued you think? I certainly hope not. I just found your Channel. 👍
Hi! Welcome to the channel !, 👏🏼😀 It’s probably just out of stock right now. Here’s the link, you can sign up to get an email when they restock it. www.diamondartclub.com/products/festive-fireplace?variant=32409175457843

Thanks. I hope they work. I don’t even remember what I said in the video lol
Ive been wanting that particular canvas and trying to decide whether to get it. Would love to see a follow up on how its going. Thank you for sharing!

Ohhh grandiose Greece is gorgeous. Hope the tips help.
Great tips!! I want to do this canvas also
thanks! hope it helps out!
Thanks for the tips - I think flipping it is a great idea. I'm going to use that tip for sure - Now all I need is a large canvas 😊
Flipping is great. Just don’t get symbols confused lol I forgot to mention that. Lol
Great tips thanks Chris the only thing I do different since I'm using a drafting table is roll the sides with pool noodles. One on the done side diamond side out undone in. I also flip mine and since I'm lefty I start most times on the right side
I tried using an easel but just couldn’t do it! Flipping, rolling, all of it makes it much easier
This is very helpful. ☺ Thanks bunches! ☺
Anytime! Glad if I can help
This is great. I have a massive canvas coming (150cm tall x 305cm long) so these tips will be helpful. I have lots of really big canvases.
I’d be dead. I have no idea how to do a 150x305 lol is that a wall size lol
@@christopherkolasa not a wall size. It's a scaled down size of a much bigger image.
Me trying to watch this but distracted by your beautiful fingernails. They’re so shiny.
Really? Thanks just use a scrub brush to keep them clean
Thanks for the tip I just bought the same painting that you were showing going to try it 😊
Best of luck. You’ll do great. Just take your time and have fun
It’s all finished
Awesome tips thank you ❤️

How do you store a large painting?
The ones I haven’t done I have them rolled up. I used to keep them flat on a table. A lot keep them in boxes they came in if they did. The finished ones I have hanging our they are now on the flat table on top of each other 🥰
How did you frame such a large painting
I haven’t framed it actually. I just pin it up. But you can find larger frames or you may have to crop the pic if it’s bigger than a frame you can find in a store..or have it done costum but that’s a lot of money 🥰
