I've seen this and want to try the power wash effect. Thanks for sharing this. Your waves turned out awesome. I just wanted to add that if you run your finger or stick under the resin to catch the drips every so often when your finished you won't get the big drips and won't need a dremel. I really like the epoxy store resin until I asked them if this resin had uv protection and was disappointed they said no. But I thought I'd share that there other resin does have added uv ad they will add it to your purchase for an extra cost. Uv protection is s very important especially with white waves and wanting all your hard work to last as long as it can without yellowing.
Hi Julie. Powerwash technique is a fun one! 😁 Sometimes I will come back to scrape the drips from edge, other times I do not because there is always the risk of dust or hair contaminating the top layer of resin and that means dremeling off the drips later. As far as UV resistant resins from The Epoxy Resin Store, here is a link to all their resins that are UV Protected - www.theepoxyresinstore.com/collections/uv-protected-epoxy-resin?aff=16 Maybe for your next purchase from them you might want to look at one of those. It can only help!
I love what you did to the whole piece! I’m starting out so watching your video has definitely helped me with the waves and the layers! Thank you so much and can’t wait to watch more!!
Hey there, I'm so glad that I've found you. I do acrylic pouring but have recently been interested in resin art. I apply topcoats of resin to my paintings so I've always got resin. You are such a wonderful teacher. You explain everything so clearly. Thank you so much
I really love all your prep work and how you show, thanks. As far as your dremmel, ingenious!! But…you can take your dremmel apart and blow it out, it happened to me, took some screws out and blew it out and good as new! I really love the depth this has with your different methods. My favorite is where you have a white wave, and it has a thick edge to it, I can’t seem to get that at all, maybe mine isn’t thick enough? When I put a line on mine, right away it spreads , that makes me think it’s not set long enough. I just love your videos and your work, thank you for them.
Thank you kindly Taylor 😊 My Dremel had so much dust in it it got hot and ceased the motor, poor thing 😢 Yes to thick resin for making a good wave line 👍🏻
I have never seen a resin ocean scene done like this before… and it is absolutely stunning!! You are also a great teacher! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us Janet!! You have yourself a new subscriber! ♥️♥️🇦🇺
I have been using epoxy and polyester resin for decades when glassing surfboards but this art you’re creating is absolutely magnificent looking! Thank you for sharing this.
Absolutely stunning 😍 Looks beautiful and you are a great teacher 👍 Love how you show all of your products with recommendations to make it so much easier. You have become my favourite painting & resin teacher ❤
I have the Wagner Furno 700/750, heat gun, not the 500 but the attachments I bought from Amazon don’t fit - what was your link to the attachments that you have?
@@CrabbyBeach3456 the link for attachments is no longer available. I recommend to measure your heat gun nozzle for precise size. Check the descriptions for nozzle attachments for a set that shows your measured size.
Oh, I love this. We don’t have Dawn products but if water works or works differently. I could try it. I have found that brand of spray paints. I wish I had gotten some of the Artie Sue gold paste. I only found her when she was closing. I have some beautiful ocean colours from there for resin. Thank you. ❤️
Thank you Karen. 😁 I have watched videos of water droplets giving very similar effects so I didn't hesitate to add a bit more spray paint on top of the water. I would recommend using a mist bottle adjusted to spray medium sized droplets and see how that works.
In the video I did the technique first using the Dawn Powerwash soap and followed that by spraying a 2nd time on top of the water droplets. It can also be used to create very similar effects. Always great to have new ways to play with my resin 😁. Thanks so much Jane 💕
Fantastic love all your videos you are a great teacher not my first time saying so! I started doing tumblers recently myself and using the power wash method I also make beach scenes not on canvas but on wood trays but this is great because on the tumblers I use the powerwash over a beach scene with white spray paint over the blue to water to create the lacing for waves just use a lot of powerwash because the more spray of powerwash the more of your underneath is shown so If you want only a little effect the more powerwash is required then spray paint white and wash away and only a little white is on your picture if that makes sense but yeah going to try this on my resin trays instead of using the white resin for lacing I wonder how that will work? Hmmm🧐 I will have to see! I am going to be doing a beach scene on the floor of my outdoor bathroom and have been contemplating how to go about this but yeah may be doing that there too! Soooo many possibilities thanks Janet you are great!😍
Thank you very much Caron. Your words of kindness are always appreciated 💕. I found this process to be quite easy with beautiful results. Using it on a bathroom floor sounds perfect! Thanks for sharing your info with me with tips to keep in mind as well 😁
Really great video!! Thanks for sharing! I’ve seen the Dawn effect used on tumblers as well, so it’s awesome to see it used in resin art. ☺️ Beautiful piece. (And I’m impressed with the working time you get out of that resin!)
Thanks Bree 💕. I did a lot of prep but it was worth it. Fun technique and easy to do. And yes, long open time to work with resin from The Epoxy Resin Store.
Thank you for sharing your amazing work. Regarding your clear coat, do you let it settle/thicken before adding the waves? If so how long do you wait before doing the waves? Thanks
The resin used is a very thick resin and does not offer a long work time. For me, thicker resins give the best results with wave lacing and there is no need to wait. Thanks for watching 😊
I watched the video and loved it, however did I miss something? The beach looks soooo realistic. Did you do anything to the sand to make it pitted looking?
It IS spectacular Janet!! The dimension is amazing!! How did you dispose of the Dawn and spray paint you washed off?? I live off grid now and wouldn’t want to harm our gardens either. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial!💖💞💖
Thanks Mary 💕. I live where we have city sewers. The paint residue was minimal which was combined in the water with the soap. It went down the drain here to the treatment plant.
Amazing, love it 😍. The ocean really pops and looks very realistic. Not sure if I can get the dish soap in the uk. I can try washing up liquid in a spray bottle. Actually, they might be one and the same thing, just different names 😂.
Thanks Tazmin 😁. You can get almost the same look with water droplets instead of the dish soap if you cannot find it on your side of the pond. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Wow! That is beautiful!!! The lacing in the waves is perfect! Are you able to get that lacing when you use a different white pigment? Thank you for sharing this process! I love your videos, you explain everything so clearly and simply!
Just beautiful..So beautiful. Thank you for clear instructions. Love the sock tip. Do you think the power wash soap technique will work on a wood board instead of a canvas?
Thanks Jackie 💕. I recently used a mica powder, Aztec Gold from Black Diamond Pigments - www.blackdiamondpigments.com/?sca_ref=90357.m4nhnEVQ9a I add just a couple of drops of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol just before pouring and it gave similar effects 😁

Beautiful piece.
Top tip: Run your vacuum cleaner and hold it near your dremmel so that you don’t get toxic dust everywhere. 🙌
Thanks 😁
The dust is so fine it would ruin a vacuum cleaner. Sometimes I clean it off outside with a leaf blower 👍🏻
It looks real.
Just beautiful,
Thank you Michelle 😁

Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your techniques. Question, did you have an additive to the white pigment to get the lacy look for the waves?
Thanks. No additive in the white. The lacing is from the technique of the torch and heat gun.
Gracias por el video te quedo hermoso, cual es el producto Blanco? 😊
We don’t have dawn in Australia 🇦🇺 but I guess any liquid dish soap could work. Thank you for the idea, it’s great to learn something new.

The Artisue gold pigment will produce those effects in resin when torching out the bubbles.

Thank you Jen 😊. I can get similar lacing from other whites but this one is a very bright white and makes the lacing pop.
Just beautiful..So beautiful. Thank you for clear instructions. Love the sock tip. Do you think the power wash soap technique will work on a wood board instead of a canvas?
Thanks Jeanne 😁. It will definitely work on wood as well. Just be sure to seal the wood well otherwise the moisture could cause the wood to warp
Beautiful work!!! I have one question, did you wash paint and soup right away after spraying? or you had to wait couple minutes?
Thank you Ludmila. I washed off the paint as quickly as I was able to grab the hose, just a matter of about 1-2 minutes.
Gorgeous. Great recording. I’m so glad you’re not making coasters.
Thanks! 😁
I love all of your videos. What gold do you use in place of Artie Sue?
Thanks Jackie 💕. I recently used a mica powder, Aztec Gold from Black Diamond Pigments - www.blackdiamondpigments.com/?sca_ref=90357.m4nhnEVQ9a
I add just a couple of drops of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol just before pouring and it gave similar effects 😁

Can you use water color ink by Dr. Martin’s? They are permanent colors
Not all Dr.ph Martin's watercolor inks are made from pigments. Their "Radiant" watercolors are dye-based and would fade over time.
Can I use white alcohol ink to
Mix with the resin for my waves until I can get whatever you are recommending?
Alcohol inks will not work the same. Paste pigment is highly pigmented which allows it to create a sinking action that alcohol ink cannot.
What brand white do you use with your art resin? I have problem with making the laces.

No. The lacing at 14:16 shows using white pigment, heat gun, and torch.
Do u glue the shell first ?
The shells are added at 14:37 time stamp in video
I am so nervous seeing you mix colors on top of your canvas!
