Great video, Kirby. Some really terrific tips. I've always been afraid of wearing my suede shows for fear of getting them dirty or soiled. Your tips will certainly help me to keep them looking nice. Again, my thanks.
Thanks Kirby, love all your videos, I recently bought my first premium pair of boots and i polished them with the help of your tutorial. You are doing great job. Im 21 but fall in love with premium shoes already
I just purchased a sage colored suede derby pair of shoes... my very first suede ones, so here I am to get advice from your videos. Thanks for the tips!
I too was scared about wearing suede shoes thinking that since you can't polish them, they would quickly wear beyond an acceptable level. Your videos are the reason I bought a pair of suede Cleverley RTW derbies, so I thank you (though my checkbook does not).
Love your videos Kirby. I recently bought some roughout suede Chelsea boots. I've had conflicting advice about caring for them, ranging from using suede brush and Saphir suede sprays to wax leather cream. I did try a bristle brush which just seemed to scratch them. Grateful for your advice. Jonathan
Thank you Kirby for explaining proper use of all these Saphir products. The Avel website is hopeless, descriptions and instructions differ from the French version to the English version and the Valmour website is no better. If you get around to answering this, could you expand on the Nappa balm? I saw the Alex Petrossian video and noticed he does what I do, which is to use Nappa instead of Renovateur on all my calf shoes- it seems to condition better- What do you think about this?
Kirby, great video! I love black suede shoes and I purchased the renovatour spray in black from your site...In my experience one thing I’ve noticed with black suede is that when I brush them or use a suede eraser, they tend to look faded and lose the deep black that I love about them. Could also be my nit-pickiness. Any advice on maintains that deep black other than the renovatour spray in black?
i was scared to add the saphire reno spray and protector to my new Thursday honey suede boots since they have the weather protecting coating on the boots already. good to say no adverse reaction to the new pair occurred . looks even better as it gave the suede a better shine to the color.
Mr Kirby thank you so much for sharing every videos in detailed..i really following your instructions....and one more request could you share videos, how to clean and care white sneakers..😊
How does the Renovateur work on a nubuck that has recently been waterproofed with InVulner? Should you allow the waterproofing wear off a bit before applying the Renovateur? Great video. Thanks.
Hi thanks for the great video! The Saphir Suede eraser is quite expensive compared to other brands. Just wanted to know is there much difference between them?
I'm a bit late to the party with this video but appreciate the info. I have some black nubuck boots and wondered whether to get the neutral or black renovateur spray. My only concern with the black spray is that my boots have a natural welt that I don't want to stain. You mention in your video that it's more of a tint than anything though so please let me know which you'd recommend. Thanks.
Great video. I've just ordered a few Saphir products from your website. I have many different colored shoes and was wondering which would be preferred, (1) use a neutral cream polish and color matching wax polish or (2) use a color matched cream polish and use a neutral wax polish? Will it be a big drop off in appearance vs color matching both cream and wax polish?
Hi Kirby I love the videos of shoe care and they have helped me out a lot. I have a question about a pair of Allen Edmonds waxed suede shoes I recently purchased. What type of care products do I need to maintain the shoes? Thanks.
Hey Kirby, Any way to restore an over-brushed suede boot? I brushed a pair of Common Projects too much with a brush that was too harsh, and the suede seems to be look hairy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
You could try using a lighter to burn those fine hairs. Make sure to move the flame back and forth constantly so that actual leather does not get burnt. I did this to my shoes and most of the hairs are gone. Try it on an inconspicuous area first to see how it goes
i had to come back to this video as i recently needed to care for my suede shoes. there's one part on the toe of my shoes that has a slight discoloration, and it's something i just don't like. this video will help for sure.
Can you use horsehair brush for cleaning nubuck? You mentioned that nubuck will be ruined with a hard-bristle suede brush, would horsehair work? Or should I avoid all brushes except for the crepe eraser for nubuck?
I recently received a pair of tod's drivers , unfortunately they have what looks to be water stains or perspiration stains ?. I have absolutely no idea how to even begin to clean them and don't want to ruin them anymore than they already are. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Would these waterproofing sprays also make the suede shoes much less "breathable"? I live in the tropics where it rains so often but having a breathable pair of shoes is so important on sunny days.
Hi Kirby, I was wondering how you would go about cleaning indigo dye from snuff suede? I wore my new chelsea boots and belt with a new pair of jeans and there was a little bit of discharge that stained the break part of the boots and some spots on the belt with a green hue (I guess because of the effect of blue on brown). Would the shampoo help at removing the indigo dye from the boots/belt? And would the renovateur help recolor and cover over the stain when the boots dry? Finally, would you apply the same treatment to both shoes and belt? Thanks in advance and great videos! I really love your channel and store and appreciate all your advice! Best, Ernesto
just bought a pair of suede chukkas and I'm afraid I could stain them with my dark denim jeans. Any tips to prevent suede shoes to get stained by denim? Thanks
Hi Kirby. I too bought a pair of suede boots, a lovely pair of chukkas, last year. And i’m starting to notice that, at the tip of my boots there seems to be a bit of balding as it were. The suede losing it’s texture. Is this normal or a sign of inferior suede? Anything that can solve this issue?
I have an old pair of Gucci loafers at least 21 years old - they are nubuck and I have tried everything to clean them - nothing seems to work - tried an eraser - didn't work - any thoughts on how to bring them back - they are the colour of medium denim
i love suede shoes.. i have air force 1 flax which the internet claim to be nubuck (some of it suade).. but I don't think it a nubuck or suade.. the leather seem dry but i don't know which conditioner to used.. 😭😭
I can vouch for the suede eraser. I recently bought a beautiful pair of Church's loafers for less than half the RRP because they had been shop-soiled - there was a black mark near one of the heels. The eraser lifted 90% of this right out. The remaining 10% is still there - and that's where it'll stay. If I hadn't already known it was there I'd never have noticed it, and after a few wears of these lovely shoes it'll be forgotten altogether.
I tried brushing my suede shoes but now I notice that its removing some fine fibers. Is the brush supposed to do that stop using the suede brush and get a less rough one?
That’s a nice suit you are wearing there, Kirby. I wouldn’t mind one for myself. What is the fabric (looks like flannel)? What is the exact colour? Where did you get it and how much would it cost? Thanks.
Since Kirby hasn't (yet) replied, I will. I'm no expect, but you probably need to raise the 'nap' of the suede with a *_coarse_* - not soft - suede brush.
Good afternoon, please tell me how to care for footwear made of nubuck, which tools to use and so on. Thank. I'm from Russia sorry for my english i use google translator)
How can you tell when you need to reapply the suede renovateur? Are the colored ones really necessary? Also, I know ppl have mentioned you pronouncing the product names incorrectly before. Can you learn the proper way to say them so we also don’t learn the incorrect pronunciation?
5:14 "suede in many ways is a more durable material than calfskin"... I am sorry Kirby, i watch your videos religiously but will have to I disagree until you can show me a pair of 15-25 year old worn suede shoes. Dont even bother, cuz they dont exist. From a Tod's mocassins owner. ☺

I am just about to (long overdue), deep clean 6 pairs of suede shoes - this is just what I was looking for. Thank you 😊

Hi , could you do a video on waterproofing different types of shoes/boots?

Hi Kirby,
Do you periodically clean your welt and shoe brushes ? If so can you tell us how you do it .
thanks, Doug
Just a tip, use a comb and dish soap in a sink. Just don't do it all the time, maybe one every 3-4 months
I can vouch for the suede eraser. I recently bought a beautiful pair of Church's loafers for less than half the RRP because they had been shop-soiled - there was a black mark near one of the heels. Does the suede/nubuck leather is a genuine leather???
list of the products please

My suede shoes has gone stiff. How do I soften it?
What is a good company to order good custom dress shoes under $500?

I have some nubucks with spots where they've been rubbed smooth from driving. Can these spots be brought back?
Since Kirby hasn't (yet) replied, I will. I'm no expect, but you probably need to raise the 'nap' of the suede with a *_coarse_* - not soft - suede brush.
Kirby, for future thought, how about some women's shoe care? I know a lot is the same but heels and lasts are quite different for us.
Helps
Hey Kirby, can you put regular leather conditioner on suede?
yeah sure go for it Gentleman!!!
How to remove wax polish from nubuck?

Plz let me know ,if you got the answer. Can we wax nubuk?
Can you put leather conditioner on nubuck ?
Samuel Gillespie no. I hope you didn’t.

Same as suede but with a crepe nubuck brush instead of a bristled suede brush.
@@kirbyallison Thank you very much
You did answer ‘isn’t the eraser an abrasion’
Dear Mr. Allison, I believe the name is Invulner, not Innulver. Best regards. VTC

Stanley Wong depends how much you wear your shoes. I’d say 1-2 times a year.
Not a word on nubuck care..
woooo! u were a kind of a chubby at the time Kirby!!!!!!!
Could you just use a high quality pencil/pen eraser?
American Psycho. Sorry, I couldn't hold back. Party in the CIA
InVulner, not InNulver. 😛

It sounds like you might be having some trouble pronouncing "nettoyant". www.howtopronounce.com/french/nettoyant/
This "Invulner" spray smells toxic as hell.
18 minute fucking video, pass
