      I am now 60.
There has been a complete change in society since I was in my early 20’s and grew up outside a very LARGE U.S. city where we would go to drink, entertain ourselves. Many many times to excess.
If one of our friends, guy or girl got wasted drunk we would NEVER EVER leave them. No matter how drunkenly stupid, violent, obnoxious, disgusting, rude, defecating, urinating, vomiting mess they’d become we would do anything necessary short of great bodily harm to get them to a safe place to sleep it off whether that was with us, to their significant others, or in some cases taking them to their parents home, dumping them in the front yard and ringing the doorbell. One time we even called the police for help.
As a police officer in that same large U.S. city for 28 years, time and time again we would come across a younger drunken adult in awful situations (dangerous situations, who died from falls, drowned, raped, beaten to death, you name it…) whose “friends”had seen simply left them, some got fed up, some just didnt think there would be any problem and some I’m sure just didn’t give a f-ck.
I don’t know what caused this giant shift but it’s disgusting and it is sad. Call me a boomer aholé or whatever you like I could care less but its factual and the truth.

Not necessarily, the river has a lot of debris and currents , it is easy for anything to come off. There's a really good medical article you can read online ("Decomposition Changes in Bodies Recovered from Water by James L. Caruso), with actual photos of deceased bodies recovered from a river and one of them had an item of clothing warp into what looked like a blindfold tied on him when he was discovered, but it was actually part of what he was wearing. They even explain that clothing can be misleading when pulled from a river.

What does the cop have to do with it? 99.999999% of drunk staggering people leave bars in downtown areas of cities across this country and get home safely. The ones that fall down or pass out are found by the police or by citizens who get them in into an ambulance and they’re taking an emergency room released once they sober up. If any Nashville cop had found Riley strain passed out they would’ve simply called an ambulance for him. Its a routine job for cops in cities. In Chicago the police and dispatchers call them “downers”.
Riley was different because he somehow was able to walk past many people with without falling to the ground or simply laying down and passing out. Whether he vomited on himself, crapped or urinated his pants At some point, he took off his boots and pants, probably at the edge of the river and fell, slipped in and drowned.

They even demoted the detective (who did suspect murder) to night shift patrolman and then ruled it a suicide and closed the investigation. I got the autopsy from the ME, but it took 3 requests and a meeting with the new detective on the case to get the investigation records. Reminder, a similar case happened in Belgrade on the NYE 2022, a guy was found 5 months later miles away in the river, with all of his clothes on, and he had sneakers! Even his phone was still in his back pocket of his jeans. The rivers Dunav and Sava in Europe also have strong streams that caused the drowning in the first place. Poor Riley seems to have more on its way from cameras. There is no way if he fell into the water that jeans and cowboy boots would fall off, and if there was a belt as well.... no way!!!! That boy looks so sweet and innocent, and it was so tragic, if there's any chance that this was a foul play someone should be punished for it. Some of the young women we saw practically had their purses opened with money falling out and falling down drunk. Why would the people at the bar allow this young man to walk out all by himself out onto the streets? He was an easy mark for someone to take advantage of him, just like the young women we witnessed on the streets. I am surprised there are not similar stories like this. It was surely not an accident. First of all, his friends sent him on a wild goose chase while he was dangerously intoxicated on purpose because they thought it would be a funny prank. All of their phones should be confiscated to find out exactly how much involvement they had in misdirecting him away from the hotel over the phone, and also exactly when/ how they lost contact with him. I bet they knew they’d lost contact with him the night before, but waited until the next day to concern themselves with it. That information could help determine the exact location of a crime scene- and there is one. At some point he met with bad actors, and those people need to be caught before this happens to someone else.

Me parte el corazón, ver a Riley, así tan vulnerable, y que nadie lo ayudara.Qué sólo puede estar hoy en día un joven, aunque lo tenga todo.
Nadie lo ayudó, este es un caso de dolorosa indiferencia.

I don’t believe this was foul play. If I read correctly Riley was 6’7” . That would be an awfully large body to throw in the river. Probably be the last person someone would choose to rob as well. He may have loosened his belt or pants while taking a piss or shit in the woods, and then fell down the cliff. He may have also taken the Boots and pants off in the water while he was struggling to save himself. I’m actually suprised how many of you think this is foul play . • @therin1

He was very drunk. What do you have to do frequently when you are drinking? If he got to the river and had to go and lost his footing on the steep, dirt riverbank, that would explain the belt not being secure. Boots filling with water would pull you under immediately. He could have been struggling to remove Boots and pants to swim could also be a logical explanation. People are quick to point to foul play and conspiracy theories when in reality it may not be.
