    Your advice on de-chlorinating water is spot on! I have a water conditioner system and thought that would take care of everything. NOT! I've only been using treated water for about a month, and I can't believe the difference. My fern, hoya and peace lily have all really perked up, and my orchids are all putting out new roots and flower spikes. Thanks is too small a word but its the best one I have. I LOVE this channel.

    In the US most people have dry electric heat instead of radiators (unless you live in a big city/older house or apartment). We still have the same loss of humidity in the winter though. It can be frustrating.

      I have a question. I recently potted up some pothos that had wonderful roots from water propagation. All the propagations were very green and healthy looking. But within a week’s time I’ve had many of the leaves turn yellow. I gave it a good drink when I potted it up as I didn’t want it to go into shock from being wet all the time to dry. And I’ve been checking the soil with the same trusty moisture meter as you have, got it from your Amazon store. The soil I used was fresh out of the bad miracle grow all purpose. And it’s sitting next to a window with bright indirect sun. What did I do wrong? The cuttings were a gift and I really want this to survive.

    I have a lot of Tropical plants growing out of my aquarium. Which is really a great self sustained ecosystem. Fish provide fertilizer, the warm water evaporation provides decent humidity. I have to add 2-3 gallons a week. Anyway I have one adansonii plant that is really struggling. Very leggy, yellow leaves. I think I have too many plants in the tank, so I added more fish to give the plants more nitrogen. Anyway I always enjoy your videos, I always learn something.

    My ficus Ruby has the same symptons - brown leaves, tiny new leaves... I don't know what I'm doing wrong. the funny thing is that it's in the same spot as the other ficus (benjamin and the ficus elastica with dark green leaves). I bought them more or less at the same time, the last one -elastica- is double the size of the ruby 😭and the ruby is also not that ruby anymore, its pink faded a bit.. I'm watering them at the same time, after checking with the moisture meter , I fertilize the plants.. I will check the roots again but I think ther're still have enough space. I hope the new season will give a boost to the ruby. thanks for all the suggestions!🔝🔝

    Well Mr. Sheffield, I broke down and ordered one of your Sansi grow lights you’ve been boasting about. I just received it today. My house doesn’t have lots of windows with great lighting. After watching a ton of your videos I was convinced to try it out. Is there a recommended distance to keep the bulb from the plant itself? The majority of my plants are on the smaller size. I’m another one that can’t afford to buy big plants. And like you said, the fun is nurturing them and watching them grow, well, if I can keep them alive long enough to grow that is. 😅

    chloramine is a big problem - it cannot be fully removed by boiling, unlike chlorine. Best to run it through an activated charcoal filter like Brita if you are serious about removing all of it. Or just gather rain water. Or use the water from a dehumidifier

    • @1faithchick7
      @1faithchick7 7 місяців тому

      Brita is actually being sued right now for lying about how well/much their system actually filters the water. I stopped using Brita filters after learning that and started using aquarium water conditioner. It has made a massive difference in many of my plants. The Brita definitely wasn't doing its job.
