these pinkpop festivals were legendary... 92-96 rage, pearl jam, soundgarden, smashing pumpkin, type o, faith no more, danzig, new model army, bad religion, therapy, skunk anansie, sepultura, etc pp... best festivals of all time for me...
Brad Wilk is the drummer and Tim Commeford is the bass player, Amazing rhythm section that doesnt get enough love. The second best live performance in my opinion after Pink Pop is Rage doing Testify live at Finsbury Park. That crowd size alone is insane. I got my tickets for Detroit when this pandemic is over!!
I attended a Rage show in the 90’s. I was trampled and almost died 😂 One of the best memories of my life. Turned me into an activist all these years. Sad that my generation was screaming this and nothing has changed.
Yes, and no. The overton window has changed in a lot of ways. Cameras are not watching cops all the time. Even if the cop gets off we all see what happened. I believe gen Z though probably sleeping on Rage; they have Rage's Spirit.
Even though this is 2 years ago, I appreciate your analysis of this show. 1993 was my prime. Saw Rage quite a bit in LA. Glad to see the message is still appreciated today. Thank you!
I recommend “sleep now in the fire” official video. Shows them shutting down wall street. Actual Action not just words from these guys. Great channel enjoying your content.
Hell yeah, but let’s do a double reaction on it. First the lyrics version so he’ll see what they’re talking about without the distraction of the video. Then the music video.
See also their gig at the 2000 democratic convention (protesting the 2 party system in the US). So much music is about escaping the horrors of the world around us, Ratm don't want us to escape the world, they want us to change it!
Zach de la Rocha trained 3 yrs with a personal trainer so he could perform in shape and bring it not to let nobody down. Was supposed to tour 2020. Sure they'll resume it when possible. Go to that show my man if tou get the chance. The energy you feel at their shows live is infectious. It's a must have experience...
Rock the Bells 2007 was the GOAT concert. Rage were the headliners. Some groups by the name of Wutang, Nas , Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, The Roots, Mos Def opened for them. Shit was crazy man!
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to (and I have been to a whole lot of them) was 1994 Beastie Boys, Rage, and Cypress Hill when they did a leonard peltier benefit 2 nights in a row… both nights were off the hook!! But I’ve seen rage probably a dozen times and they are always lit.
The nostalgia!!!! This is the sound of my teen years.. I'm 42 now & RATM is still one of my favorite bands. Killing in the name of.. is my fav song of RATM. Tom is a beast on guitar ❤️
That exact video is of my very first concert and i'm somewhere at the front of that 60.000 crowd, it was recorded in the Netherlands in 1993. Nevert stopped loving Rage against the machine after that experience. Fun fact: the crowd caused seismic earthquake alarms in all nearby cities during this track, i believe it reached 5.3 on the Richter scale. ALL lyrics on that first album are still valid, now more then ever, to the current state of our societies and governments.
Bro, you have me in tears. Did you see how amped that crowd was? That was insane. Peeps getting tossed like trash ... And Zack so crazed, he busted his ass. Priceless.....
I think I've got about 30 subs of peepz reacting to RATM now. It's just so wholesome to watch people engage with their message and their sound. Gives me hope for the future.
@@chrisventresca5026 alpine valley is rescheduled for July 10th. Maybe if you already had tickets they showed up because I have an email from them with the new date. Wonder why they're not up on sites
Brings me back💚 this is Pinkpop, one of the biggest festivals in the Netherlands (my home country). Fun fact, this concert produced a measurable earthquake, that’s how loud it was! The other guy is the bass player😂 and unfortunately the Netherlands also still has racist people, though people at rock rockconcerts are generally fairy open minded. Rage was woke before woke was a thing, heroes🙏🏽
2 for 1 with this reaction! Hell yeah! One of the best reactors out there! As someone who’s seen them live a few times and once with Public Enemy opening up for them in a small club in DC I can confirm you are 💯 right they’re the best bands ever! Their energy is unmatched!
I like how you’re like, “I guarantee you none of those white people there are racist. They listen to Rage!” Then you’re like, “Nah, seriously though, you never know.” 😂 You’re so right.
I grew up listening rage and didn't know much about the lyrics and the meaning of the music. After growing up and having my mind opened to the things he has been singing about I love them even more.
One of my favorite jams from rage. When you talk about racism brother It will always be there unfortunately some people are raised that way You can't change them. So when you see the people in the crowd they are for everyone no matter what color
Welcome to the army my man. Of course we’ll take Zach’s stepson into our ranks 😂😂😂. Alright so first things first, guy on the drums? That’s Brad Wilk. Guy on the Bass guitar(a different kind of guitar, you’ll hear this sound usually in the background setting the rhythm of the song) is Tim Commerford. Please, please, do us a double reaction(lyrics first so you know what the song is about, followed by their official music video) of their song “Sleep now in the fire”. I promise you, you will have an even bigger appreciation for them once you see the video. And I’ll also tell you a awesome story about Tim Commerford in relation to that video. And yes you’re absolutely right about that crowd. That’s the beautifully amazing thing about Rage Against The Machine. Because of the genres they cover, they were able to spread their message and raise awareness to a part of our society(white Americans that listen to rock) that wouldn’t have heard it if Zack decided to be a hip hop rapper and Tom Morello decided to continue on his career in politics(he had interned for a US Senator before quitting to pursue music). But there is actually a lot of people that are/were fans of Rage Against The Machine and had no idea what the message was and have beliefs and views completely contradicting what Rage is saying. Tom Morello is on Twitter and has absolutely owned a lot of these people who have tried to tell him to stick to music instead of politics(his response? “Dude have you actually heard any of our music?” 😂😂). Now I got some good news for you. They were about to start touring agains before Covid cancelled everything, once everything is back to normal they will be touring again. You can be in that mosh pit in person! So thank you for these Rage Against The Machine reactions. I think all of us would love to be able to discover this band again for the first time. Since that’s impossible, watching you do it and FULLY UNDERSTANDING what they’re about might be even better. Keep the Rage reactions coming!!
Check out a live performance of "Burning Fight" by Inside Out. That was Zach's hardcore band he fronted before Rage Against the Machine. You can get a feel for where that punk energy in Rage's music comes from. Rage is punk as fuck. Love your reactions and I really hope you get to see them live with Run the Jewels when they hit the road next year!
I started playing guitar when I was 10 because of Tom Morello, switched to bass 10 yrs later partly because of Tim Commerford. I spent sooo much time trying to turn my black friends on to Rage growing up because I always felt like if Zacks lyrics had the effect that they did on me, I can't even imagine the next level that African Americans or any minorities for that matter must feel when they hear mainstream music talking about these issues. I'd love to hear what a 2021 Rage album would sound like \m/ \m/
You got my sub on this one. I've watched all your RATM reactions and I love how happy you are at the end of every single one. It makes me happy! Other live videos I like (all of them), ~Know Your Enemy~ 1999 with Maynard hanging out in the back looking like a dad supervising his kids at the playground. There's an earlier live version of this song where he hangs in back looking like a weird stalker, so if you're feeling more in the weird stalker mood go with that one. I also recommend ~Testify~ or ~Killing in the Name~ Live at Finsbury (London).
The live in London “know your enemy” and “testify” is beyond amazing! You MUST react to those 2 live performances!! You would fall off your chair!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Since the Jazz era, the bass has been known as the *pulse*... the heartbeat of the band. The fella playing the other guitar is the bass player. That fat bass riff... so glad you got to see this live! As a white bass player... who’s been rocking Rage in cover bands since I was a kid... it’s an honor that a white guy was so fortunate to be the heartbeat of such an amazing band. You nailed it; all the white folk in the crowd who AGREE and hang on every word... the same that are marching, fist in the air shouting “we can’t breathe” and “say her name” with you in the streets.... the only white guy in the band holding it DOWN!! What an existential honor....
You are the first to bring up the rhythm section in all the reactions I've ever seen. Tim Commerford is slappin the bass. It is not a guitar, it is not a bass guitar. It's a bass. Look up the stunt he pulled at the MTV music awards. And Brad Wilk is among my list of the most unsung drummers. Yeah, he's not Neil Peart, but he's perfect for Rage. He keeps Zach and Tom in the pocket. Anyway, I'll be watching more of you. And yes, I was listening to the guys in 1993 when I was in Junior High and am White as f----. There's another from pink pop that's great too. Like the the whole crowd jumping up and down. Know your enemy live my man. Peace,
This was at the Pink Pop festival in my home country of Belgium. This was when I was 13 in 1993. I grew up with their music. It's only years later that I really got their message. Reason you see few people with darker skin in the crowd is because frankly there aren't that many in my country. Love seeing younger people rediscover this band.
Welcome to the army😁✊ Check out the whole of the Battle of Mexico City of you've got time, 'people of the sun' and 'freedom' are my highlights. You've never seen a crowd so pumped! Oh and by their albums man, or their merc from their shop, if ever there was a band that deserved the support it was Ratm!

You are right... some may listen and fail to comprehend the music's message. You know some in the crowd ragin' against themselves and who they may be at home...
One if the biggest mosh pits I’ve ever seen in my life was at a Rage concert, and the energy was like none other. Seeing them live is truly an experience💕
This is The Netherlands. Of course it's mostly white people lol but yeah. They were loved in Rock and even Metal even if they weren't. I feel they get respect. Wish Hip-Hop would've embraced them more back then. Let's hope they make new music finally.
this concert was the best to react to because it really was one of their best, if not the best, live performance. the level of conviction, rage, and energy they had is crazy.
this was what I was waiting for, bro! I knew knew knew you would love this. Going to rewatch this a few times lol. More live Rage? Check it: ua-cam.com/video/zkMPRHRkBSs/v-deo.html
Also, quick little fact. Tom morello's guitars toggle switch, when he moves it back and forth really quick is to get the main sound from the two different pickups, similar to how mc's used a slider to switch between turntables.
@MichelleShow once You do some research. They are one of the greatest bands of All-Time, GOATS, Especially LIVE !!! Their Music is great, but I've been hooked since.. 1994. I was 12yrs old. Zach's lyrics made Me think as a kid. Not saying I agree, with everything, but made Me study my books for sure
I never thought we’d agree on anything, but I never thought about Rage! They were ahead of their time.. hell.. their music would have been relevant in the 60’s, 90’s and sadly today!
I had tix for a show this past July until everything got cancelled; would've been my first Rage show despite being a fan for almost 20 years. I had a get a refund cause covid ate my savings, but hopefully next year! Those two touring together will be epic AF.
About the crowd... It's not the US... It's in Netherland... Europe, of course there are black people too... But here you are in Northern Europe, we never had "black slave" on the ground, etc... Plus at that time, music was strangely and sadly, starting a trend of "segregation" ironically started by "hip hop heads" who didn't want to listen to "white music"... The Beastie Boys, and Rage, prove them wrong, as much as they should have know it before, because "rock" is based on black music, Little RIchards, Jimi Hendrix, and many other "Rock gods" are black people. BTW: this is my favorite "live" video, Zack impress me on this one EACH time I see it, and I've seen it like thousands of time... I listen to this first album regularly for now almost 30 years...
Enjoy your RATM videos. Subscribed. Great thing about music, doesn’t care if you find it early or late, just as long as you find it. Many songs grabbed me that I had no idea what the message was, usually can be credited to great instrumentation or a sick beat, but when/if you do get it later makes those songs more special IMO. Hope you find more music that grabs you.
One of my favorite concerts ever - RATM / Wu Tang 97. Great Woods. RATM was late due to Zach breaking his leg in NY. Wu Tang played about 3 1/2 hours to kill time until RATM got there.. Show was fire.
About 1/3 of that crowd have no idea whats being said.....another 1/3 knows what words are but twist its meaning. The rest of us KNEW this was the most important band of Gen X USA

Us GenX kids who lived it welcome you with open arms. Still gets me amped up! Hope it does the same for you for many years to come.
Did y'all just hear that RATM is back on tour???? Tickets are now on sale. I've never seen them live. This is going down!!!!!
One if the biggest mosh pits I’ve ever seen in my life was at a Rage concert, and the energy was like none other. Seeing them live is truly an experience💕
Hell ya. Zacks energy and the boys jamming is so intense. Been loving watching you going through these
What an awesome reaction! Loving these Rage breakdowns ✌❤💫
💯💯
Gotta do FIST FULL OF STEEL Live at PinkPop too!!!!!
Got u
Also, quick little fact. Tom morello's guitars toggle switch, when he moves it back and forth really quick is to get the main sound from the two different pickups, similar to how mc's used a slider to switch between turntables.
Years later he picks up on the message and gets his mind blown all over again ⏰
@MichelleShow once You do some research. They are one of the greatest bands of All-Time, GOATS, Especially LIVE !!! Their Music is great, but I've been hooked since.. 1994. I was 12yrs old. Zach's lyrics made Me think as a kid. Not saying I agree, with everything, but made Me study my books for sure
I never thought we’d agree on anything, but I never thought about Rage! They were ahead of their time.. hell.. their music would have been relevant in the 60’s, 90’s and sadly today!
RATM and Run the Jewels tour next year brother.
Idc what it costs I’m paying it lol I WILL be there!
I’m goin and recording!
LMFAO. love it. You always give me tears of joy. You f$#king got it now✊🏿✊✊🏽🇦🇺
💯💯
@@MichelleShow i can't wait 4 you too do more... it's killing me.
✊🏿✊🏽✊
That's the bassist!!! Tim Commerford!
Lots of love to you!! Sooooo glad you are feelin Rage!! ❤❤❤🔥
one of my dream bands i wished i could have seen them live
One of my favorite concerts ever - RATM / Wu Tang 97. Great Woods. RATM was late due to Zach breaking his leg in NY. Wu Tang played about 3 1/2 hours to kill time until RATM got there.. Show was fire.
Brad and Tim the best rhytmical session of the 90s.
Definitely definitely heck out some of the Battle of México concerts of Rage!! It’s so lit in that one too!
I got their album 30 years ago. I can't believe its been that long. It literally feels like yesturday
Your reactionvids are insane , much love
"sweatin' before they start" that is a good catch
@michelleshow please don't miss the message.... mic check by ratm should be next.
About 1/3 of that crowd have no idea whats being said.....another 1/3 knows what words are but twist its meaning. The rest of us KNEW this was the most important band of Gen X USA
Mah man zack burned some calories in this concert, i can tell you that much! haha
