Don't worry,I love watching people hearing this for the first time. Imagine how confused we were 49 years ago when this was recorded. You can't put this group in a box. They were together for 20 years only stopping on the death of Freddie (lead singer) in 1991. Four university graduates, all completely different, made 15 albums over 500 individual songs they are considered one of the most influential groups of thel last century, all members wrote each were inducted to rock hall of fame. If you choose to go on this journey you will love it. They were a group apart, constantly pushing the boundaries leading the way. They were a group that were best live,in the times of no auto tune etc, they never used ear pieces on stage relying on their tightness as a group. Freddie is consider to be the best front man,not just by the fan but by anyone who knew about music. Take a dive, we will guide you,you some of their songs already..... We will rock you, We are the champions and Another one bits the dust. Have subscribed looking forward to what you do next. Blessings from England
There will never be another singer like Freddie. Rest In Power dear friend. And the guitar player Brian May is one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
Also the fact that it's called Bohemian Rhapsody. I went years without looking it up to finally find out that a rhapsody is a song that changes between two or more genres. So yeah, it all finally made sense.
What is this? Three voices, four instruments and a gong. The operatic section is three of them recording harmonies over tape 180 times creating the choral effect. The genre is known as “Queen”. Keep listening, thanks.
This is a mic opera.Queen will never let you down re: vocals instruments, harmonizing, experts, all genes of music, getting better every year of their moc realm, and a rhapsody tells a story. This is a masterpiece, and has been my favorite since its release in 1975, way ahead of its time as far as how videos were made: they used to call these promotional films. Freddie Mercury was a genius is writing and putting this together. And that voice!!
If you liked this... watch them LIVE. Montreal 1981 - this song, We are the champions, We will rock you, Killer Queen... it will change your life. You haven't seen showmanship like they brought.
You will love all Queen music….I have loved them all my love …I’m an old lady now but I still listen to them…try Live Aid & somebody to love & who wants to live for ever….all live!! 🎼❤️🎼🇬🇧🇬🇧
It warms my heart to see people react to bands I grew up with. I sincerely hope you keep reacting to Queen because they were an incredible and amazing band and different from any other rock band of their era. Enjoy your musical journey!
Always love a first reaction to Queen, great! Thanks!! One reason the harmonies at the beginning sound so clean is Freddie Mercury, the lead singer, is the only one singing. He tracked all the harmonies. His voice is unmatched in versatility and quality. Roger Taylor, drummer, does the really high harmonies in the middle part and often provides important backup vocals - especially live (yes, while drumming). Don't miss "Somebody to Love" live in Montreal '81!
I call it Rock Opera listen as if it's a story. . It I'd one of the best songs ever written RIP FREDDIE and ty for leaving us with your one of a kind voices and music for eternity, we are lucky to have had you. .
What genre is it? It's the genre 'Queen'. They're a genre all of their own. Ballads, operatic harmonies, hard rock, soft rock, stadium rock... and anything else you can think of. Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole. I suggest 'Someone to Love' from the concert in 1981 in Montreal, and their 20 minute set in Live Aid in 1985... You will certainly recognise some Queen songs. You just don't know they're Queen songs.
Freddie wrote this. He wanted to do something different, like opera. But the record producer didn't want him to. So Freddie made this like an opera but with different beats so the kids in Britian could, like they said over there, "bang their heads to." Then since it is 6 minutes long they said no one would play it over the radio. They did and it was a hit all over the world not just once, but decades apart after Freddie's death.
I’m a tiny bit too young to consider this from my generation, but it still makes me so happy to see those younger than me appreciate this song. It’s just something that anyone who genuinely appreciates music should know and love! Thank you for your reaction, I genuinely loved and appreciated it😊
No one knows what to expect first hearing this. This was and is EPIC! The layers of talent in this band is practically unmatched. The lead guitarist is even a genuine astrophysicist!!!
This band blazed so many new trails , and influenced so many stars to come from Country Singer Garth Brooks, to early rappers like MC Hammer. Even Lady GaGa was a huge fan and strongly influenced by these Geniuses . Her name was taken from one of Queen's songs " Radio GaGa" . Michael Jackson was a big fan of Queen , and He and Freddie Mercury were friends , and even recorded a few songs together. Go listen to the duet Michael and Freddie recorded together called " There Must Be More To Life Than This". Some other huge Queen songs you will recognize are " Another One Bites The Dust" " We Are The Champions" , "We Will Rock You" and on and on and on. Queen were to rock-Pop music what Mozart was to classical.
I'm 😂 dying. Yes a very unique song. I bet you've heard some Queen, Another One Bites the Dust and/or We are the Champions, We Will Rock You. Stadium rock songs.☮️💜🤘🔥
Queen were considered a rock band .. but they never fit solely into one genre. If you’d like to see another video of this song, to show how important it has been for last 50 years, look for Green Day audience sings Bohemian Rhapsody. 65K people. Singing every single word. It gives chills. I so wish I had been there in 2017
If you play them, we will come and listen. Queen has a huge and very loyal fan base and we love to see new reactions. It's so fun to watch new listeners reacting to the most amazing and awesome band to grace a stage, and the absolute best frontman ever!!! Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole. You're gonna love it!
I love when youngsters watch legends like queen and be blown away. Us Gen X grew up with the best music ever 😂 Now go watch the Live Aid concert 1985 and see how he plays the audience ❤
FUN FACT: Despite the video showing all band members singing, the five-part harmony at the start of Queen's Bohemian Rapsody was ALL performed by Freddie Mercury. And all the stuff that sounds like synthesizers on the entire album is Brian May (rocket scientist) on guitar.
Freddie Mercury ( lead singer ) had an amazing range. Growing up in the 60's and 70's. Queen was one of the best bands for diversity, for their musical talents. Glad to see younger generations open themselves up and give them a listen. ( They sound just as good, if not better Live !!!! )
Freddie said…this is gonna be the Opera Part! Love it first album I ever bought with my own money…what 1976 ? They have tons of music. Started like 1969 till Freddie’s death in like 1992 I think. Live Aid Queen is a must! Best Live performance Ever!!
Queen manages to combine a lot of music types including rock, pop and opera, and made a unique sound that belongs to them alone. You will need to listen to a LOT more from them to fully understand what they do.
This is Rock Opera, Freddy Mercury had 3 songs, ended up putting them all together. A rhapsody is a collection of musical themes. He sang all the harmonies, the high notes were the drummer. All 4 guys finished university, and had careers outside of music. One with nasa too. They all wrote hit songs. The red guitar Brian May plays, was home made with his dad. Look him up.
It is almost impossible to have not heard at least a snippet of this song somewhere along the way, it has been out for nearly 50 years and it has been in movies and commercials. Still, many have not heard the song in its entirety and that is where the understanding of the master songwriting of Freddie Mercury comes into being. This is an iconic song and I love it. I have been listening to it since it first was played in the U.S. and I have never gotten tired of hearing it. thank you for your reaction.
Great reaction. You reacted just like every person that heard it for the first time back in the 70's. It was like, what the hell did I just listen to. Well, the more you listened the more you couldn't stop listening. You may have heard this in other comments, but this song is widely considered the greatest rock song of all time. It's a masterpiece. Keep listening and you'll hear more and more facets of the song. Keep watching Queen. Live Aid and Somebody to love live in Montreal is incredible.
The genius Freddie Mercury and the whole group Queen are amazing. Freddie wrote in this work, and combined Rock, Opera, Greek Theater, Oratorio, all in one masterpiece. I love this too.
Definitely you need to react to Somebody to Love (both studio version and live at Montreal 1981 - I listen/sing along to the latter at least 10 times every single day in my car!!) and the Live Aid set from 1985. After that, there's loads more - Queen is a rabbit hole you will never, ever regret! Keep going now you've started! Also check out the Green Day crowd from Hyde Park in 2017 spontaneously singing alone to Bohemian Rhapsody while waiting for the main Green Day concert to start - 65,000 people just sing the whole song without missing a single beat!
You had one of my favorite reactions. When I was 14, my reaction was similar. WHAT'S THIS???? Queen transcends genres. From opera to rock. Watch Live Aid Wembley Stadium 1985 Queen. I guarantee you know at least one or two songs from the set. It's considered the best 20 minute live performance in history. As you guys say, "No cap!"

The radio wouldn't play it because it was "too long". Freddie Mercury gave his friend, a British DJ and all-round radio god called Kenny Everett, a copy and Kenny loved it. He played it a lot on his show. ("Whoops, my finger slipped onto the play button again...")
You just heard one of the best songs ever written. 4 geniuses….all extraordinarily talented. Go down this rabbit hole, please.❤️🎼❤️a rhapsody is intentionally a mix of song styles and / or rhythms.
Agreed. But I would add; don't listen to it on its own. It's part of the medley of songs that make up Side Black of their second album, "Queen II". Listen to the whole side without pausing. In this video, it starts at ua-cam.com/video/rhOTV0EeAps/v-deo.html , and runs to about 40:50 - everything in the video after that is bonus tracks.
@@timg5011 That is a much better idea!! On "A Night at the Opera" album...my favorite melt is when the "Prophet's Song" becomes "Love of my Life"! Queen is Exquisite!
Thanks, Dantes! Headphones, dude! so glad you got 'em.. makes a huge difference to appreciate the full scope and genius of this song (and band).. appreciate your reaction!
My top 5 favorite Queen songs: 1) Bohemian Rhapsody 2) Save Me, specifically their live concert performing it in Montreal 3) Play The Game, specifically their live concert performing it in Milton Keynes Bowl. 4) Killer Queen (Top of the Pops 1974) 5) I Want To Break Free (Official Video) MUST WATCH!!
The opening sequence shows all four members lip syncing the vocals, but in actuality it was only Freddie Mercury who was singing. He multi tracked his own vocals. Musical genius!

Listening to the lyrics all these years later and knowing Freddie's history also give it greater meaning now when it used to just be "mere" entertainment❤️🔥👑
I remember when this came out in 75. I was in jr. high school. Everyone smoked pot and listened to awesome music and still did sports, etc. We were well rounded and there was only love among all Americans for the most part. Listen to Heart Stairway to Heaven. Its a tribute to Led Zeppelin. Or listen to Queen Live Aid and another must is We are the World. And dont look what they are about just listen and react like you did this one. Cant wait to see your reactions.
This is the Mount Everest of Rock bands, many climb that hill, very few reach this level...EVER.
