I was there that day in 1985 as a 15yr old pop music lover... I left that day as a convert to rock music, thanks mainly to Freddie & Co... You need to remember that this was NOT a Queen concert or even a Queen audience, in fact they were a last minute addition to the line up. That said for 22 minutes that afternoon Freddie had close to 73,000 people in Wembley and almost 1.9 billion watching on TV globally eating out of the palm of his hand. I'm now a 55yr old woman who's been to 300ish live rock concerts over the years, everyone from Guns n Roses to ACDC to Uriah Heep, Meatloaf, Status Quo, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi (48 times 😂) to H.I.M and the 69 Eyes.. but that 22 minutes right there is still by far the best 22 minutes of live greatness EVER! And one show that has never left my memory! God bless you Freddie and Thank you for the music.. RIP you legend 👑👑👑
You had the most joyous reaction I've seen...I really enjoyed it. As a 75yo woman I'm loving that younger people are exposed to my generation's music. Like we say we may be old but we had the best music. Keep being joyous ❤
I saw Queen several times beginning in 1975. Nobody will ever have the stage presence and charisma Freddie had. All 4 of them are legends and nobody ever sounded better live.
Radio GaGa! We ALL listened to the radio back then. That's where WE got ALL of our music. And fell in love with singers who we had no idea what they looked like!
Definitely all without auto tune or effects. Just pure talent, from them all. Freddie was always awesome in everything, live, studio, fabulous voice and stage presence. And so were the rest, so in tune with each other.
I was in 5th grade when a boy in class brought a tape player and a Queen cassette to school. He said we HAD to listen. And our whole class became Queen fans that day!
I never get tired of watching this performance and I'll never get tired of watching ppl see it for the first time! I was rocking out right along with you 😊
Queen was an incredible band. Keep going down the queen rabbit hole. There catalog is huge with so many great songs. There live performances are all incredible. Always remember queen never disappoints. Everytime you think queen can't get any better they do. Hit the live stuff hard. Here are a bunch of great queen performances We are the champions and god save the queen live wembley Tie your mother down live wembley One vision live wembley It's a kind of magic live wembley Under pressure live wembley Three song medley Lap of the gods, seven seas of rythe and tear it up live wembley Who want to live forever live Budapest Dragon attack live montreal 1981 Another one bites the dust live Montreal 1981 Save me live montreal 1981 Play the game live Montreal 1981 Somebody to love live montreal 1981 Liar live London 1977 Stone cold crazy live at the rainbow Fat bottomed girl live milton Keynes These are just a few the are tons more. Where queen goes the queen army will follow. R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
I loved watching you reacting to this, Freddie was one in a million and should be remembered and treasured always, I loved you knew some of the songs but didn’t realise it was theirs ha ya a Queen fan ❤
I love when you 'youngins' realize "We will Rock you" and We are the champions" are Queen 😅 You guys are so CUTE!! Remember these songs are almost 50 years old. QUEEN are EPIC!! Been listening to Queen for 50 years and still can't get enough of their music 🥰
G. O. A. T just G. O. A. T... Try Somebody to love live in Montreal 81 that's bloody brilliant & for something older Death on two legs. Best rabbit hole you'll ever go down. ❤❤❤❤
Omg it’s so lovely hearing someone so young sing the correct lyrics…Queen are one of best, if not the best band that came out of England. They were absolutely amazing
It is like 10 years between this show and the Bohemian Rhapsody video. Freddie cut his hair, stopped wearing makeup and grew a moustache during those years. He also ditched the black nail polish and bizarre outfits, ballet slippers and high heels. Rock had moved past Glam by this point.
10years older, shorter hair and added mustache. Freddie as 29 in the Bohemian Rhapsody video, 39 here. I love him 😍 and Queen, so unique and geniuses combined, making the best group ever. Legends.
I absolutely love when someone realizes they've known Queen all along. A little fun fact...Brian May plays 3 different guitars during Crazy Little Thing Called Love. If you watch again and look closely you'll see it. Keep up the great job!
So much fun watching your reactions! Love it !! And will be watching for more Queen because they are my favorite bands of all times !! And I’m 74, just don’t anyone else 😂😂😂
They all look different because it's ten years between the BoRhap video and Live Aid. There are no vocal enhancing effects, in fact, Freddie was cautioned by his doctor to NOT perform due to throat problems he was experiencing. "We Will Rock You" actually has two additional verses. Queen edited a couple of songs to fit in as much as possible in their allotted 20 minute slot. Thanks!
Fun fact: I have a son named Dante and I made him into a Queen fan, in fact I made him take me to see them in Chicago last year... of course it was with Adam Lambert, but still...anyway, he now appreciates them too. Keep up with the Queen reactions, we'll be here for you!
I absolutely love watching young people discovering that We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions are real songs by a real band. It's amazing. When I was young it was realizing Mickey Mantle was a real person, not a comic person.
There is an old BBC documentary about live aid. How it came about, and unfolded. Part 1 - ua-cam.com/video/h33i52ZtC8w/v-deo.html Part 2 - ua-cam.com/video/fr8OF-L1F3I/v-deo.html
Really love your reaction! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reacting to somebody to Love live in Montreal 1981, and then the official video of somebody to love.
I can't quote the concert concerned, but at one point Freddie came onto the stage and asked the crowd what they thought of his moustache. It got a very lukewarm response, to which Freddie said 'f**k you! 😅. It did make him smile though, as he obviously didn't care about anyone else's opinion
Freddie shows his ass at every show. It’s so the manager that told Queen they would be nothing without him can kiss it! Check out Freddie’s dis track Death on Two Legs!
Freddie looks different because 1) he's older, this was 1985;, 2) all of them (except Brian) cut their hair and 3) he was clean shaven when he was younger and grew a mustache in the 80s.
Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person! NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience. NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?). NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him. SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW: nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves! LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)! I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially Music. (When he is waving his arm it is to tell the cameramen which way he is going bc he’s moving around so much. When he is kicking back it is to avoid all the cables on Stage). And, “We Will Rock You”, is actually a Prelude to “We Are The Champions”. It is actually all 1 Song!) LEAD GUITARIST: Brian May’s family couldn’t afford a Guitar so he & his Dad made it from an old Cabinet. Because they were making it there are a lot of extra features that he wanted. It is truly a “one of a kind”! The kisses are for his Mom who was watching by TV
awesome reaction video. If you don't mind taking a bit of technical advice from someone who has produced sound and video for independent film. When editing your video pay particular attention to the level of the playback volume of the video you are watching . Try to match it to " Your" live voice volume . We have to turn the volume up to hear the audio from the music video playback. Then every time (You) speak) it blows my speakers out because you comment volume is so much louder than the Playback volume . Another good technique is to simply use a compressor on the tracks , or a limiter that will equalize the volumes.
My guy out here learning words live in front of the world! Just keep taking them in because it never ends. Im 34 and learn new dumbass words every day 😂. Makes you sound smart when you bust it out tho!
Yeah my bad about that, after I recorded it I was mad at myself cause I didn’t realize the mic was so loud so I tried to turn the vid down to still be good volume but not quiet 😭😭

Never, ever try and sing with 'cans' on. You can't hear when you're out of tune. You wanna sing in the shower - fine, but if you're doing it for an audience, you'll lose them very quickly. And on THAT note... Bye.
If you wish to watch the video without my commentary or singing. The original video link is in the description if you would like to check it out. If I wanna sing a song I’m reacting to I’m gonna respectfully lol
My bad for the mic being so loud, I didn’t realize it till after I recorded the video lol
Don't give a damn about your mic! I could still hear both!! Glad you loved it! And also did the reaction!! It was a fun one to watch!! 😁
Glad you noticed that you are way too loud - of course it's a reaction but it's nice to get the crowd, too. But otherwise good enthusiastic reaction.

David Bowie sure didn't.

Freddie had a throat infection or something and was told by his doctor not to perform. So, he’s not even at 100%, and he sounds amazing!
Makes the performance even better 🙌🏽
40 years later … GOAT
I’ve always thought and will always believe that Freddie was the greatest frontman of all time!
That stadium, was the opposite of anxiety. That's how we used to roll in the day.
✌️
These times were unbelievably magical for sure. We had the greatest music back then and we were beautiful and still are. 💙🌈👑🫶
Going to concerts back in the day ....pure gold!
Freddie Mercury was an absolute legend, he played the audience and we all loved him…he will always be our legend
My second comment .. you didn’t notice he told 70,000 people to sing it and they did ‘We will rock you’ ..
Yep, Sherry.. but I still love those early dramatic days... :)
Loved Freddies 70s look ❤
10years older, shorter hair and added mustache. Freddie as 29 in the Bohemian Rhapsody video, 39 here. I love him 😍 and Queen, so unique and geniuses combined, making the best group ever. Legends.

It's makes me sad that at this point we had only six years left until Freddie died. Brave soul xxx
This is called PURE TALENT!!!!
So much fun watching your reactions! Love it !! And will be watching for more Queen because they are my favorite bands of all times !!
And I’m 74, just don’t anyone else 😂😂😂
Not a phone in sight. Just fans enjoying the GOAT

72,000 people there; millions watching via 8 satellites. Keep in mind the 1984 Olympics a year before this had only. 3!
1.9 billions and 13 satellites and a concert in US as well with 90.000 people arrending.
I think the worldwide audience was like a billion people. No joke!
Somebody to love ❤️ Montreal

Lady gaga got her name from this song.
More than 10 years difference from Freddie at his piano for 1975's Bohemian Rhapsody and this 1985 performance.
I can't quote the concert concerned, but at one point Freddie came onto the stage and asked the crowd what they thought of his moustache. It got a very lukewarm response, to which Freddie said 'f**k you! 😅. It did make him smile though, as he obviously didn't care about anyone else's opinion

Somebody to Love, live in Montreal will amaze you.
For some reason, this particular band with the Freddy, all the other instrumentals, they never seem to be intimidated just do it
Freddie looks different because 1) he's older, this was 1985;, 2) all of them (except Brian) cut their hair and 3) he was clean shaven when he was younger and grew a mustache in the 80s.
listen to the music, the voice, everything, was real, not a computer, as it is today
This was definitely before auto tune
Another One Bites the Dust is another song you will recognize

Freddie had a very bad sore throat when he did this.
I don’t mind imperfections in the singing I just like it to be real
Hi happy to see you again from Patty. Nope not me you just Do it your way loves you and your family and friends
Don't apologise for your pausing! That's what makes it! Great reaction!
70,000 … it wasn’t a Queen audience … Hammer To Fall showcased what a live band they were …

That was straight Freddie no effects needed for that voice.
Your mic is very loud in comparison with the video. I almost feel like your screaming lol
Yeah my bad about that, after I recorded it I was mad at myself cause I didn’t realize the mic was so loud so I tried to turn the vid down to still be good volume but not quiet 😭😭
Bro u dont see what we see. The whole stadium the whole audience is in his hand freedie the fkin mercury

Just FYI…
There are copies of this Queen Live Aid video that are MUCH BETTER, REMASTERED HD image.

Hey....We Know What Your "Say'in" 😅
The volume is a little too muted. Your voice is blowing it away.
Never, ever try and sing with 'cans' on. You can't hear when you're out of tune. You wanna sing in the shower - fine, but if you're doing it for an audience, you'll lose them very quickly.
And on THAT note... Bye.
Bro.... do you think your voice compliments Freddies voice. Best to keep quiet 🤫
If you wish to watch the video without my commentary or singing. The original video link is in the description if you would like to check it out. If I wanna sing a song I’m reacting to I’m gonna respectfully lol
Freddie is just so captivating, you can't help but sing along, even if your voice is a total mess, as we can clearly hear here 😅
I have subscribed to every recater to Queen, Adam Lambert & Aussie singers John Farnham, The Seeckers. Kevin Bloody Wilson & Tim Michum. 🥰🐨🦘
