This is one of the largest Gold mines in Nevada and if you have claustrophobia or not familiar with rope work then I would not go into this mine. This mine has some of the best examples of square set timber work you will ever see. We want to thank Tony ( Speedy Caver ) , Joanne, and Max for coming out and making this explore one for the books and for more videos on mine exploration , just watch this video ua-cam.com/video/sHPfSfDU8GA/v-deo.html and make sure to smash that like button.....smash it HARD !!!!!
You Got more Balls than I timbers big as 30 in Dia trees crush into tooth picks . Scare the pagibbers out of Me . Yaoza !
JEFFREY I'D LIKE TO JUST ADD I WAS GIVEN SOME WOOD THAT CAME FROM SOUTH AMERICA SOMEWHERE THAT WAS SO STRONG THE PERSON WHO GAVE IT TO ME SAID YOU HAVE TO DRILL IT FIRST BEFORE TRYING TO DRIVE A SCREW OR NAIL INTO IT MY NEIGHBOR WAS SO RIGHT ANYWAYS IF THEY HAD WOULD THAT WAS THAT STRONG I DON'T THINK THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MANY COLLAPSES THEY'RE JUST USING PINE OR WHATEVER THAT WAS AVAILABLE DEFINITELY PROBABLY UNCERTIFIED UNGRADED FOR STRENGTH
DAVID ADAM GRENIS
IT JUST LIKE YOU CAN GET THIS HUGE FENCE POST STUFF THAT IS NOT GRADED CHEAP
SO WITHOUT EXPERIENCE IT MAKES ME THINK THAT A LOT OF THE WOOD THAT THEY HAD WAS VERY SUBSTANDARD EVEN IF IT WAS OLD GROWTH IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT OAK OR WALNUT OR THIS IRONWOOD OR WHATEVER IT WAS FROM SOUTH AMERICA OR ? EXTREMELY STRONG WOOD BARELY CUTTABLE WITH A CARBIDE BLADE
I know real claustrophobia after being buried in coal up to my head in coal and another time I was crushed into the roof bolter by a solid piece of coal 5 foot wide and 20 foot long that weigh over one ton. I have PTSD being under a vehicle on jack stands. I need crib blocks under a vehicle while still having the burying claustrophobia. Jeff, I finished three hours into 5 videos on my book review. My partner Tracy Gardner is editing them, then within 2 weeks the new UA-cam channel, Tracy & Michael's Dowsing Adventure will be posting dowsing training videos after that. I had to use the thumbnail name - Debunking James Randi on Dowsing Physics #1 to #5. After that the thumbnail name will match the dowsing being done. My goal of teaching the world how to apply physics in dowsing will finally be accomplished. Can't wait to show you how to dowse with our invented modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod. My father and my legacy for the benefit of the world will finally be finished. Stay safe and healthy with having a good day.
dowsing. Yep, people still believe in that crap. Christ.
I used to brave taking chances.
You took us all on the brave trip down so come on lets go to Claustrophobia. 😀
I can't believe it, it's like they brought down the woods of a big forest into these tunnels. It really shows the power and will of humans.
Hey Jeff! I have been up in Alaska to prospect once, about ten years ago. Did some core drilling by pebble mine, my ex's uncle had a claim up there right up to pebbles. I didn't learn much while I was up there for two weeks. I have learned hell of a lot just watching your videos the past week. I'm glad I came across your channel, I've always wanted to get away from the normal day to day of the city. I have always wanted to be a gold miner, and or a gem miner. The desert in Nevada and Arizona seem pretty great for both of those. I can't wait for all my kids to be old enough to move out of the house. So finally my wife and I can get the hell out of the city! Keep up what you're doing. Stay safe and keep the videos coming!
thanks ... much appreciated and we know you'll love it out here
I can keep my claustrophobia under control in a well-shored, stable mine. Just watching this, though, gave me a massive wave of anxiety. The lateral forces that snapped those massive timbers can't possibly all be resolved and stable.
that mine will test your metal
yes its an ongoing affair, i could not possibly go down into such a place... mindblowing indeed they could go there and film it so impressively ! Chills down my spine that ladder !! WTH !!
@@Askjeffwilliams Or your sanity lol.
That is so cool, but lots of broken/crushed timber. Gravity, not just a suggestion. It's the law!
Loved hearing about the geology.
5:33 the amount of anxiety watching Max squeeze through their. No way would you catch me in that shaft.
my palms are sweating just setting on the couch watching..
Wow! The amount of stress on those beams was crazy! If you all go back in, man, be careful on that one! Thank you sir!
Looking at all those broken timbers from falling rock.....nope, not going in there. Well done
Wow what an interesting Mine, and to imagine how they got all those huge timbers down there, and give a shout out to Lila for how brave she is to climb those sketchy ladders. !
I know...right and will do
Insanity comes to mind when seeing all those failed sets and your crawling up , down and over . GOLD FEVER !
That was one of the best trips ever! The square set and all the neat artifacts. I can’t believe the work those miners did back in the day. There are so much hollow ground under that mountain.
MAX !!!!! yes it was my brother ......one for the books ...you did great ..we have to get out and do some more ...so you know what I am gonna say huh
Thank you for the Saturday morning wake-up, Jeff. That's a whole lot of square set down in that sketchy old mine.
you betcha
Nothing like a Jeff Williams an friends video on a rainy day. Thank you my friend be safe 🙏
you betcha my brother ...
Just imagining the determination and strenuous work that went into creating those tunnels is mind boggling. I love you and your wife's adventurous spirit, and to be honest, I don't think I could ramble through those holes with the comfort you guys do. Amazing stuff!!
thanks , really appreciate that
No Sir Too Tight, Jeff You could start a quality School. You are A Great Teacher full of life. Keep on keeping on
thanks ....really appreciate that
Crazy how hard people worked back then.thanks
they were tough as nails back then
Not only is it stupid to light a fire in there because of the timber, BUT DYNAMITE!
No ads no annoying intro straight to knowledge just the way we like it! Thank You Two!
you betcha
13:41 great spot for a coffee ☕ shop
no no no no no the stress and pressure on what was left of those timbers was screaming GO BACK. You ar5e scarring the heck out of me with this explore. :Lila needs her hubby and we need you as well. It was awesome and I thank you but stay SAFE.
you betcha and Lila was right there filming me the entire time ....shes the best
Man! Those massive timbers just snapped like toothpicks. Mind blowing!
My risk/reward ratio balancing, would have precluded me from exploring most of that mine. 😅
That is some drryyyyyy, dry wood. That crooked ladder hanging into the open chasm is amazing.
I'm four minutes in and I caught me a Closter phobic. Exceptional content. Thank you Jeff and Lila.
you betcha
Thanks for taking us on your adventures Jeff. ⛏⛏⛏
We agree, there can be absolutely no conceivable reason to start a fire in a mine, any mine. Pure vandalism.
Yikes .. lots of crushed timbers.
Don't touch 🙏
Thanks guys
Peace Prospector Tripp
The work those guys back in the day did is absolutely unbelievable!! Thanks for your skill and “tour”!
Couldn't agree more!
No dislikes here, it boggles me on just how stupid some people can be🥴. Great job Jeff and crew👍✌
WHat the heck would you all do if someone became incapacitated down there? Its absolutely incredible, the labor to build all that.
Jeff, I hope you appreciate that amazing woman who follows you on these crazy adventures. You should double her pay!
I hope Max knows his max! This gave me anxiety, but still fun to watch. Epic square sets!
What an expedition into mining history. That is pretty unbelievable to make a fire in a mine on a lot of levels.
Tons of respect for the old miners, especially for the Scotsman who invented the square set, if my memory 🤷is correct. I had a claustrophobic attack just watching this...Thanks guys awesome video
thanks and you betcha ... Philip Deidesheimer invented the square set for the Comstock mines
Thats some awesome timbering in that mine..another great video Mr Williams
Just WOW!..... Never seen real square set structures in real life like that. Just books and drawings and stuff.
imagine the larger room was filled with then until they collapsed
That is a hole of nope for me. Those massive timbers snapped like twigs and tiny manways.. nope nope nope. Ur a stronger man than me to go in there.
Great times indeed fam. Stay safe out there. Loads of great info. Keep on having fun and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
The system to bring all that timber to the mine must have been massive.
all by wagon
Don't get stuck Jeff! I don't know what we would do without ya!
thanks
Thank you for the necessary rant Jeff, people sure act silly when nobody else is around or is watching them behave like muppets.
That looked like one collapse area after another. I cant believe you folks went into the mine after coming to the first collapse. No power in the 'verse could get me in there.
Hey Jeff! We love your videos and wish you the very best. Please do not confuse buckled columns with stability.
Person asking: hey Jeff can we go into that mine? Ask Jeff Williams: do NOT go into this mine!
Your wife is awesome to come with you on these adventures. Very cool that you can do this together.
she's the best
I love, I love I LOVE this mine! 🥰
Little Lady Lila did really well here, there are some really nasty places, tight squeezes and scary ladders all over. Jeff was being super supportive as he always is.
Love you guys and love exploring that place, never get enough of it and always more to find. 👍👍👍
are you sure because I don't think you even like this mine hahhahahaha yes she did huh ..... same here my brother ...can't wait to see you again so I can tell my nasty jokes
90 years old timber, not a place to go in, i almost died working on an old mine like that when i was young, not as big as that mine for sure. thanks jeff
I gotta hand it to your wife. She's extremely brave! Very nice timber work in that mine!
Lila is the best
Can't thumbs up this one. Couldn't even finish it!
BRUTAL!
Wow Jeff, the timber work.is amazing.
As a Carpenter the effort to get it in the mine and in place is truly awesome.
They worked hard back then .
Pete Australia 🇦🇺
they were tough as nails back then Pete
Im so interested in mining, but as Ive grown and become an adult and gotten older, I find myself absolutely terrified of both heights and confined spaces
I used to think ppl scared of mris were nuts, now I get it
be careful down there. Youre very valuable
An unbelievable amount of effort went into that
You don't wanta accidently bump against the wrong rock or timber in that mine. "I wonder what this timber's connected to?"
Oh my goodness Jeff, it looks like every square inch of that mine is ready to collapse!
Jeff you don’t have to tell me twice not to go into a claustrophobic mine😊😂. Very unpredictable area. You go girl ( Lila) when you roped down in that ballroom 😊 . Looks like you all had fun in that jungle Jim area. Thanks to all for an interesting mine.
you betcha Tina .....
"AU" let's go 👍
Great job getting up that ladder Lila! Fun video Jeff, thanks.
shes the best
Well like you said don't go into this mine😮 so you toss caution to the wind😂
Ohh look at that timber Max, Push on it. 🤣😅🤣😂
Don't worry about those massive broken timbers, try not to bump them as you squeeze by. I wonder if they broke slowly over time, or snapped quickly?
Great tour team !!! Thanks everyone and let's go lol
Thats why i ❤ surface gold lol
I was so scared watching you guys go past the broken beams.
Whoa another mine with the super organized precut/notched timbering. Watching the differences between mines and just their timber structures alone is pretty awesome, like the attention to detail or "that'll do" type of timbers.
What a huge mine. That ladder looks like something from a cartoon 😮. There is a fortune in relaimed lumber
In a couple of decades the timbering will finish blowing out were you will not be able to get back in. I am happy they filmed it for histories prosperity. I hope Tony has a miners fireboss walking stick he can use for testing the roof before hammering on weldes because there will be air gaps everywhere that can cause layers of roof rock to instantly drop. I am a retired underground coal miner that worked at the worst mines for weight bounce explosions called bounces. We used steel plated vests, leg and arm ATV guards and air steam helmets that filtered in fresh air. Outside the mine loading into the man trips we looked like Star Wars Dark Vaders Army.
thats pretty cool , thanks for sharing
No way sonny Jim ! I cant even crawl into a sleepin bag 🤣 I`m smashin that like button boy 👍👍👍👍⛏⛏⛏⛏
hahahhaahha thanks my brother
Caution this video has a Pucker factor of about ten I may need a box of exlax after watching this. Thanks Jeff always a thrill and learning experience
I know...right ...it will test your metal
You don't worry with all those broken timbers, which are effectively tree trunks that these areas are dangerous
Truly amazing Brother. Awesome video. Love all the information.💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
really glad you liked it
Wow, what a hell of a mine
Back in 2010, the Taliban had so many IEDs buried all over the Kandahar area waiting for us to step on, we had to go everywhere in single file. Well, I have to say, you guys found another type of mine I would avoid walking into. Hats off to you.
i gotta go back through it and turn up the contrast but i swear i saw some kind of creature watching you guys from the darkness. ill keep you posted when i find it and comment the time....
That there is the extended cut.
Yeah idk if I would fit into some of those tight spots.
The mass of timber sets is pretty awesome though!!!
It’s amazing how powerful some things are, especially the earth. Great video 🎉
Most sketchy ladder ever.....brave on you, holy jeez. Trying to imagine this being your daily walk to work, ha. You'd be buff alright.
All in the dim light of a candle. It's truly hard to comprehend. Glad you made it out. Epic.
thanks and they were tough as nails back then
❤ thank you Jeff keeping it real i need you around like forever
Hello Jeff...
That looked like sketchiest mine i've seen you in yet. Question is-Do YOU have a living will? 🤭 Look forward to these saturday videos. You and the wifey be careful and watch out for those WORMS!
🔥💯🇺🇲⚒️✌️🔥
thanks
yeah...nope. Some of those broken and exploded timbers looked fresh. 😬 gunna keep my pants on. 👖🤠
Jeff that mine almost a Roach Hotel !!!😂 you check in but don't check out!!!😅
Wow, I dont think I could go past those large ruptured timbers! Did slow you all that much though!
That was a scary adventure, you guys ROCK!!
Jeff did you say sketchy? There is no way i would go in there. Do like to see the old square sets, amazing.
Next time you’re down there look at the timbers that broke. See if they were used for candles too. I’m curious.
Jeff that was great come on let's go go go
Awesome video, so many colors down there some of those rocks were beautiful
You all are having fun
Some of those mineralizations look juicy
Amazing video friend thank you and please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 😊
you betcha my brother
You couldn't pay me all the money to go down in that mine 😮
crazy.. Fill all that with sludge, clay and water and you have an Oak Island tunnel.
That looks like an adventure I would love to go on!
So you know what I’m going to say - So com on let’s Go !
Wow Jeff you guys were pushing it on this one! That section of the mine is in really bad shape, but no guts no glory right! Thanks for another great video God bless you and stay safe
Some nice square sets in this one. Looks like y'all had a good time. Stay safe out there Crazy Boy!
there are some impressive ones in this one but more impressive is the square sets use to go all through the mountain..... thanks and you two .....to
This was an awesome video. The large void looked like a natural cavern. It's unbelievable that it had been removed, topside. Being there would be so much better than watching you all go through it. It seems unnerving to think how much force is acting on some of those timbers. I gotta learn rope work and climbing.
WOW THAT WAS SCARY KEEP SAFE MY FRIENDS.,
What an amazing mine. I understand your rant. I came across a burnt down headframe sad to lose history.
Looks like another fun adventure! And happy late birthday!
No way I'd go into that mine, lol!
